This is a thread to talk about Perpetuum, a SciFi MMO that released as a pay-to-play title in 2010, died its death and is now available as an officially endorsed f2p private server playable through Steam. And it's still pretty dead. The MMOdventure is currently playing this title for about 10 more days.>Download/Infohttps://store.steampowered.com/app/223410/Perpetuum/http://www.perpetuum-online.com/>ServerOpen Perpetuum (OPP) - https://openperpetuum.com/>Wiki/Guideshttp://wiki.perpetuum-online.com/index.php/Main_PagePerpetuum official guide: (outdated, more info): http://www.perpetuum-online.com/LexiconOPP Wiki (more accurate to the private server, unfinished): https://perpetuum.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_PageNoob guide: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIKsf2nlMdD9LkjQnUhZ4Ze3BmGaXrgRm>Accounthttps://register.openperpetuum.com/Register on the OPP website or in game when it prompts you to login. This game is still running? I feel like the last time I heard about this was a decade ago.
>>2043353It probably doesn't cost very much to host a server with five people on it. Very strange seeing bases and stuff owned by guilds with 80-200 people who just don't play any more.
didn't expect to be able to make a guy that looks this fucked lol
>>2043682the character creator is pretty exploitable, you can make some good reaction faces
>try and pick off the guards to some of those convoys driving around 1 at a time>spend 30 minutes on it before I realize they're respawning as fast as I kill them (what the fuck)>try and kill a convoy>the guards all swarm me, slow me, and kill me over the course of 30 secondsI don't like this mechanic. Why is killing enemies so much harder and less lucrative than everything else?
My findings regarding exploration:Absurdly lucrative, can get tens of millions of NIC per hour alongside tons of research, valuable items, etc.Observer stash > Scientific Remnants > Industrial Remnants > Infestation > Salvage in my experience in terms of value. You can take Pelodica Observer stashes pretty easily as long as there's a bunch of plants nearby for cover so you can run away. Never take Nuiquol Observer stashes because their AI will chase you to keep you in their shorter weapon range. Infestations seem completely random to me, either they're piss easy or you'll get surrounded and the shit beat out of you.I run Lightweight Frame because it makes an hour trip take 40 minutes but it means you die more often to getting demobilized so if you want to actually make it back to base you should use armor plates instead and get like triple HP + demobilization immunityScan accuracy barely mattersPack an armor repair module so you can top up between dangerous stashesTake something with a bigger cargo hold like a Hermes because mech cores can get heavy.I hope you don't get tilted easily because you will die three times in three hours and lose 60m worth of items plus your favourite robotI've never been able to find my corpse afterwardsGamma sector or bust baby
>>2044549what's the tier of items you're getting by digging for artifacts?
Specifically, I wonder if research and production is the only way to get higher tier gear or if you can get phat loot by digging and killing shit dead. The highest tier item I've found on the beta islands were T2.
My most important mission yet has begun...

This is what your prizes could have been.

>>2062151This was a fun game. I'm glad I played it. Wish I could have played a bit more.
terramotus []
>>2063402I'm glad I wasn't able to get the Terramotus in time for pics. The collective disappointment would have been too much to bare.
>>2062498It really was fun. The tutorial was daunting, but after that, it was great to just do whatever we wanted for 2 weeks.>>2063415I'm glad you got it though! I thought I'd help out today, but it looks like you were too quick. Unfortunately robots often re-use parts, it's a bit disappointing to see the Terramotus is just a Sequer with alternate tracks... Have you tried mass-harvesting with it, though?
>>2063418I can't mass harvest with it either because the large harvesters require mass harvester charges which no one sells. It can't equip small/medium so all it can do is give out an aoe buff to people in squad to reduce accumulator usage.I looked into researching but no one sells industrial kernels and I think it would take me a super long time to get enough kernels to research it myself. I asked in trade chat if anyone can make them and they gave me a name of someone on the discord so I'm hoping they can make it.
>>2063430Sad to hear they're not on sale. I checked and deep-mining charges for some materials are available, so you could try that if you'd like.
It is done, lemme know if I missed anyone.
>>2063532Looks great, thanks for this.
>>2063532the Descartes looking motherfucker cracks me up
I've hauled almost everything we had in corporation storage to Hershfield Terminal, so that our things will be safe even if something were to happen to our Uria outpost.I've left a good amount of ammo, charges and materials in Uria anyway, as well as some equipment, Sequer and Ikarus robots, in case someone logs in and wants to do stuff there.Fellow merchants, thank you for playing, our time in this game will become happy memories.
>>2063789The amount of berries that I harvested will probably never be topped by any other game.
