Probably for the best. I would occasionally lurk before the global launch, but since global, the general had been dogshit (to be fair, that applies to the entirety of /vg/ at this point).

I just wish I actually played back then instead of starting with global, only to see the game be killed off in favor of its inferior half-sequel. I tried playing NGS again recently after over a year away, but it's still quite boring. They've barely added anything beyond MARS (Dark Falz mode but lamer) and very minor gameplay changes.

I fully expect the game to be shutdown soon. That roadmap they showed and the clear lack of direction when looking at the game's story and content has me convinced. I will be sad, but it's better to just rip the band-aid and start fresh. PSO2 was fun, but all good things must come to an end at some point.

Just a heads up since I know a lot of ex-/tofg/ players are here. Tower of Fantasy is getting an MMO mode on the 25th that removes all gacha, and you can unlock costumes and stuff that was in the gacha in the open-world doing content. I remember when ToF launched years ago and we had a general on /vg/. It was actually a fun general for a while until it slowly died out over time.

its still the one button game that used gadgets to cover it, and it killed all the air attack animations and made them ground attack animations since the china region arc. several of the china characters onwards are either dodge spam or one cast switch spam or held attack spam. and several gadgets are p2w only, and it fell into the character = movement/utility tech gadget hole. even if you make it mmo free its just astra flying through the map attack on titan style and nothing else matters. even though it is better at presenting space exploration than ngs, I ask myself why should anybody care now?

funny how they created multiple cradle pse maps to continue to ruin the games economy even after pso2, and then made it worse by having meseta boosts apply to auto sell drops. they could have made the furniture shop cost meseta but they don't because they want to "separate it from the main game mode"

at this point ngs should be put on maint mode, delete all the cradle maps and have n-meseta be convertable back to meseta at some cap like 2m meseta a week or something similar to the idola/pso2es shop, and localize pso2es and bring back idola. they can come up with a solution to the ngs shitshow later. with how shelved it is its just wasted maintenance and development. a ton of people would come back to the game if pso2 was standalone to ngs, still received updates and unfucked the lighting.

Zero was a DS (not 3DS) game so it's basically a de-make of PSO1 from the Dreamcast to the N64, and then the story is crappy anime/VN bullshit. It's interesting that it exists but the only real appeal is that you get to say you played a game that most people never heard of, let alone played.

Universe gets talked about sometimes and it's actually a pretty good PSO1.5 with a private server that's been open for a few years now. It feels like it's from the same generation as PSO1 but has more modern controls and goes a little deeper into RPG stat-based gameplay instead of PSO2 moving in more of an action direction.
