What are the best online games to roleplay in going into 2026?
I used to RP on WoW about 5+ years ago, but coming back the community seems to be very angry and hostile (just lots of "I hate you OOC if you do x y z" in their profiles) or just gooners with no personalities to their characters beyond gooning. It was like this on retail and Epsilon.
ESO had better RPers but it felt very cliqueish in a way WoW still didn't.
CoH just felt goonery, 100%.
GW2 is too bland of a universe to really support an RP community.

Roleplayers are very autistic by definition so those are basically the only two you're ever going to find in MMOs. The "no fun allowed" sorts that are usually in their late 30s or 40s and are too social retarded for tabletops, or the sexual repressed and often transgendered 20-something year olds that making gooning to their entire personalities and have X profiles for their characters. Not themselves. Their characters.

And it's basically either WoW which is a 50.50 split between both groups or FFXIV which is closer to 25/75.

I'm enjoying turtle wow. It started a a roleplay server so actually has things to facilitate that and the culture generally is pretty into it, I have been having a great time even randoms will play along in party chat most of the time.

I never got into the RP but I noticed a big cultural difference between the /int/ community of Turtle as opposed to NA servers and it was really not for me.
