The rewards I find in DD2 are so shit, there are but a few memorable pieces of equipment. And thr majority that does stick with me, is due to being in 1.

It's all pretty underwhelming

>Eternal Wakestone

>It's not eternal.

It's all just "ehh"
>>
>>2143561
i still think the semirandom loot system DD1 had was the best way to do it, to hell with the speedrunning-adjacent tards going "noooo what if i don't get the most optimal loot every time noooooo". Especially since they got what they wanted with DD2 and nobody liked it, to the point multiple mods changed it "back" (somewhat), and when that happens to me it just shows what system most people liked best
fyi i'd agree the bbi gacha isn't ideal, but there's that and there's the loot in the wild thing of the main base game and i'm talking about the latter. And even then most of the issue still stems from the aforementioned tards wanting the best equipment and wanting it now, just to follow the most optimal strats they read online instead of properly playing the game for themselves. The fact anyone would ever listen to them is mindboggling, same with the tards crying about DD2 "not needing" more vocations before the game was out, and again we got exactly that and nobody liked it
>>

Thanks, cos.
>>
>>2143576
I can't even recall picking up any worthwhile equipment from chests. I explored voraciously, yet most of the stuff I had was stuff I bought.

Not to mention that when you find a chest, there's usually just shit inside.
Empty as 1 might have been, if you came across a chest you'd usually walk away with some nice looking piece of equipment.

In 2? The most memorable chest I opened was one with 5 rotten harspuds in it.

now that's not true, there's plenty of worthwhile chests or enemy drops, but it's also true you just can't gear up by just finding shit in the wild cause said "plenty" is not plenty enough. And i'm biased of course but that sucks cause i like using the shit i find in the wild instead of buying from shops. On the other hand, DD2 overloads you with spell scrolls/books compared to DD1

i'm not one of those tards saying DD2 is bad period (i liked it just as much as i did DD1 in fact), i'm just saying some specific choices they had for that game were bad. Same for some specific choices they had for DD1, it's not like one game is perfect can do no wrong and the other isn't, especially since a good deal of DD2 "fails" were in DD1 too

All the servers differ a lot from the original experience, the original game was free to play and so it paywalled a lot of features that were pretty convenient, such as more space to storage items/gear, extra loot from mobs, cosmetic items, easier access to revival/resurrect, quicker/no crafting, overall, it seems like it fucking sucked, so you do not want the original experience.

I've only played on 2 of the 3 current servers, DDON and Dogma Rising, DDON sucked and probably still sucks, it was the first private server and it became the most popular but it has lost a lot of players to Dogma Rising and Legacy.

DDON has no future because its admins are faggots, they will not listen to players' feedback and bugs will go unfixed for months, broken spawns, dungeons you can't complete because they lack spawns, that kind of shit.

Dogma Rising is very good and has plenty of custom features and events and overall it's really good server.
Its admins will actually reply to your feedback and fix bugs in a timely manner, assuming it's bugs that they're able to fix.

Legacy looks very promising and the fact that it's the one server that has an actual OG player as its admin means you can probably expect good things from it, it also has many custom features like Dogma Rising and it fact it's the one server that started doing a bunch of nice custom features first, then Dogma Rising started implementing a lot of those too, unfortunately it's the least popular server, but it does look pretty good.

When I say custom features I mean stuff that wasn't in the original game, things like auto-loot, for example, both Legacy and Dogma Rising have this.

Just to clear, you really want to avoid DDON.

mirage shift cancel anything really
in some fights you can even deal delete the enrage bar without needing greens to expose the core, with BBM bracelets terror / eclipse blast can apply status ridiculously fast
personally though since its a PvE game the balance doesn't bother me, I just try not to use most of the time, although there's some fights you don't feel like grinding after you've beaten them with a different vocation and HS just makes it bearable (EXM Golgorran with anything other than HS and maybe Sorc was cock and ball torture)

>>2146186
They'll both live.
Enemy dependent how they perform. I generally liked waffen SS more but alchie does better with some bosses.
>>
>>2146186
Alchemist is way better in my experience, Shield Sage is not a good vocation for pawns because they don't really know how to manage their Force gauge, so they won't always be ready to actually enchant your weapons when you need them to, Alchemists can just enchant whenever, that being said, pawns are always good at staying alive no matter the vocation as long as their gear is up to par

that's already what most dogma content is though, "OP builds" but it's like whats the point? Once you're lvl 15 - 20 the game quickly becomes far too easy. There's no need for meta gaming (which is a good thing imo).

It would make sense if they bothered to add a decent hard mode so you actually hard to take more care about your loadout, but obviously capcom are the laziest, content hating AAA devs in existence.

I tried doing a couple speedruns of DD, and this was in fact, an actual problem. There was some good bow in a chest in the female bandit hideout, but it only spawned like 25% of the time. IDK if getting it is the best 'route' but it was the best I could come up with at the time, there was basically no info on speedrunning the game in NG at the time.

Mostly I remember that being a woman was good to get access to the female bandit place without trouble, while having high weight was good for carrying more mushrooms. The mushrooms were used to give you infinite stamina while spamming that dagger skill that lets you move very fast. Armor took up weight that you wanted to spend on mushrooms, so none of that, either. As a result, I'd spend most of the run sanicing across Gransys as a naked landwhale.

Is it known that the Shadow veil/cloak skill literally breaks many (all?) creature AI and makes them behave oddly? I've not seen others mention this but it's very much a thing.

So if you haven't noticed, using the thief's shadow veil/cloak skill and getting close to many of the creatures will get locked in an odd "loop". The exact nature of the loop depends on the creature, but seems to be what they do when first detecting the player. For example, the Cyclops will get trapped in an endless loop of:-
>move 1 inch
>ROOAARRR
>move 1 inch
>ROOAAARR
>move 1 inch
>ROOAARRR
>repeat forever

This loop will instantly break if you remove the shadow skill. Another obvious one is the Lich. A lich will say a line like "rejoice in death" or something like that, but this AI breaking causes it to get caught in a loop saying "REJ REJ REJ REJ REJ REJ" over and over. This kind of loop happens for many of the creatures, although some aren't as obvious. The camo skill was also being used in conjunction with the 2 detection reduction augments so it's possible they play in a role in making the AI break.

My theory is the creature AI "knows" you're there, but technically they haven't actually "detected" you yet, so they get caught in this endless loop of almost turning aggressive but don't, breaking their behaviour and making them act oddly.

While it is true Crapcom can't be relied upon to deliver proper content, fortunately for us the autism of modders can.

The first public release of the biggest DD2 mod is finally out today!

> Bestiary - Aggressive Enemies and Variants
https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/1196

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxppPfgfe7o [Embed]

This mod doesn't just simply increase "enemy aggression" and introduce a few new palette swap enemies...

It completely overhauls enemy movesets (especially of bosses).
The properties of "vanilla" movesets have been heavily modified - attacks generally come out faster, enemies string together more diverse combos, some moves depend on the creature's state, there's entirely new attacks and even extremely rare existing moves are now much more common.
The new enemy variants have their own abilities, quirks and even spawn points, not to mention alot of enemy encounters throughout the game world have been changed as well.

The purpose of this mod is to make combat more engaging by pushing players to use their full arsenal (including Pawns).
As such, some enemies are designed to be much more difficult than their vanilla version, giving their appearance during the game much more weight (look out for Chimeras, they are no longer a pushover and shouldn't be challenged in the early game unless you want to suffer :D).

No, I feel frustrated.
DD2's performance still isn't "perfect" perfect, but it was basically fixed what 3-4 months in? A 30-70% bump in FPS depending on how old your CPU was, I recall, so it was serious optimization. Modern midrange can run it at least close 120 fps, definitely will outside the cities, while looking pretty. And people still vocally pretend it runs at 40 fps.
MHWilds looks like shit, runs like shit, and people swept the entire game under the rug like it never happened. And Capcom is still shilling it, still pushing it.
They had a free win with DD2 and they buried it.
>>
>>2164189
I feel confused, people were saying that DD2 walked so that MHW could run, now I'm sure MHW sold a lot but technically speaking it released in a worse state than DD2 and it is still worse at the moment, and just looking at the game I can't understand where the resources are going.
It looks bad, it runs bad and it doesn't do anything impressive, it's just barren ass open worlds with nothing going on, it's not like it's pushing meme stuff like path-tracing or anything so what the fuck happened?

>so what the fuck happened?
they went in with the "they'll buy it anyway" mentality
i'm sure they could make another MH with the very same issues and it would still sell just as much as wilds did
>>
>>2164558
capcom fucked their whole pipeline up trying to chase photorealism. everything is super expensive both in manhours to create and resources ingame for what they're getting out of it. exacerbating that they think making AAA swings is the best use of those now-limited resources.
>>
>>2165034
Glad they're keeping the unique look of MH Stories at least. M-maybe they'll even remake Breath of Fire in the same artstyle
>>
>>2164558
>I'm sure MHW sold a lot
The game sold 10 million copies in the first month, but then sales slowed down to a crawl. Imagine the massive amount of money they must have invested in Wilds to have all the fancy things we didn't get in Dogma 2, like actual 3D food with gorgeous animations, several post-launch updates with entirely new game mechanics made specifically for the new free monsters, an insane variety of cosmetics, brutally challenging fights meant to entertain the hard core audience in the end game...

I don't know if it'll change in endgame, but why is DDON so hostile towards melee, even compared to DD 1 and 2?
So many enemies spam radial explosions or full body attacks, even worse some have damage aura like backfire, climbing and shaking doesn't help either since they'll spam yellow and red warning outside of exhausted state, and let's not mention them flying fuckers.
I like what they did to warrior here, but I'm contemplating to switch to ranged vocation.
>>
>>2167580
That one fighter trial where you have to fight the Damned Golem fucks me in the ass.
>>
>>
>>2167580
What enemies are you having trouble with specifically? Most enemies that spam radial attacks have fairly noticeable tells. Also you really want to at least have pawns with vocations/skills that cover your weaknesses, it isn't like mainline where you can get by with whatever (Unless you're playing high scepter)
>>
>>2167580
what level/enemies are you struggling with?
>>
>>2167776
>>2168272
I'm not exactly having trouble, I'm just frustrated that 70% of the fight feels like just me watching from safe distance, unable to attack while my pawns doing all the work. Stuff like magma golem rage mode cover it's whole body with fire, lindwurm core located between the electrified wings, or alchemy goliath almost constantly having explosions present around it's head, you know, the only part that takes damage after the armor is gone.
>>
>>2162260
I don't see any dd in that image
>>
>>2168338
for warrior i would personally say the annoying stuff is the opposite, whenever you have to chase down an enemy thats more mobile. the majority of pretty much any enemy's moveset can be braced through on reaction with a little practice

>magma golem
thug it out
>lindwurm
break the wings
>goliath
ok yeah this one blows
>>
>>2168338
didn't play much warrior but I remember them eventually getting a skill that lets you do a slash that creates a small aoe whirlwind, not sure if its unlocked through the HO tree though

>pawns tell you for example that undead are weaker to holy damage in base game
>they aren't
What the FUCK was Capcom smoking? How do you fuck up things so basic? I skipped DD2 because no hardware, but FFS I don't regret it at all. I know that base game DD1 was shitty too, but holy fuck they really just did the same retarded things 10 years later AGAIN
I really can't understand this, it's so upsetting.
At least there are modders who can fix those and the enemy behavior.

First post-rebuild play, I can feel the upgrade, DD2 flows so smoothly
>>
So we're never getting an expansion for DD2. At this point that's fine.

But new question: what is the state of DD2 modding? Is there anyone out there trying to add actual new content, or is this one of those games where 98% of all mods are just basic cheats?
>>
>>2173945
Nope
>>
>>2174116
i think they still haven't figured out adding new stuff, as in stuff that wasn't originally there (ie the usual Thomas the tank engine instead of drakes). But they did, almost instantly, figure out mods that "remix" the stuff already there so there are indeed overhaul mods that change stuff like loot, enemies and even vocations and/or skills

neat. Between that, the wildlife documentary and a few vids with people giving the game a go for the first time, there's actually been some good DD2 videos the past month or so and none of it was from the usual dogmatubers.

Maybe the modding scene picking up will help give the game a little more life even if capcom don't give af

it all looks and sounds pretty good to me
i do have questions though: how does the gobbo breakable armor works? It depends on the weapon damage or the weapon type (or both)? Also, the mage gobbo dying spell i think should come out a bit faster, or maybe even randomly not happening (or randomly idk have a different blast radius), cause it feels like this way once you got hit by it the first time you can just avoid it every time like you do in the video, kinda losing its appeal/purpose

thanks anons, I really appreciate your feedback. I'll try with a bit of a lower pitch. Listening to it today I think I've gone too far into "killing little kids with a sword" territory
>>2181448
nice! ty anon
>spoiler
the armor is there to make enemies flinch less when taking hits. In the case of the goblin's armors, since they are kinda shit you can break them in one strike with a strong attack, but those are slower to do so it might be difficult to land if there are many goblins going after you ass. Also some elemental damage types help with breaking it faster with normal attacks.
>mage gobbo dying spell
it's not so much there to be a danger to the player, but to provide some help against armored goblins and other enemies, since the explosion also damages them.Think of the goblin mages as walking explosive barrels.
>>
>>2181016
reminds me of a higher pitched version of the sounds gnorcs make in spyro so im all for it
>>
>>2181016
The hit sounds are pretty good. I prefer heavier sounds, but they might slightly mismatch with the general style of this game.

Also, I noticed there's a sort of auto targeting in the game. Will you allow that when also carrying and throwing enemies?

yeah there is! had to implement that or keyboard bros wouldn't be able to hit shit lol
>Will you allow that when also carrying and throwing enemies?
you currently can aim with both throwable items and enemies, but using the autotargeting when not aiming is a great idea, and will make throwing an enemy onto another much easier on the midst of combat. Thanks anon! I'll implement that right away

are the floating platforms just for testing or are you eventually gonna make actual maps like these?

What I'm a little worried about with Itsuno's new game is that he's now advertised himself as a "I set a budget and scope and stay within it" type of director. I'd really like for him to reach for the... well, moon. Just go overboard. Not dumb new features, but as much content as possible, even if that requires a DLC or two.
>>
>>2184783
floating platforms are just for the test level. The final game should look more how you'd expect an old adventure game to look like. Something like Gothic, hopefully if I'm able to.
>>2184862
limitations can be good! with a set budget he might decide to focus on the basics (combat, exploration and cool quests) instead of the pursuit of imo lesser things like "making the world feel alive" or having "realistic NPCs", like they allegedly tried to do with DD2
>>
>>2184862
Let the man rest and take on smaller projects, he laid the groundwork for the perfect fantasy action rpg already, now it's up to whoever comes next at Capcom

problem is that, while Capcom owns a fuckton of successful IPs, modern vidya only allows for a few of them to exist at a given time because games are very expensive and take a very long time to produce. So Monster Hunter and Resident Evil it is, plus the occasional experiment like Exoprimal or Pragmata while Mega Man, Phoenix Wright, Ghosts and Goblins, Dragon's Dogma and many many more die and perish forevermore

An ace attorney shouldn't be that expensive technically or artistically, it just needs a good writer.

You could just save scum too, I remember doing it a lot when I found a chest with an item that I wanted, although it's a bit of a pain since you had to quit
This is only a problem to me if an item is exclusive to a chest and has a low chance of spawning lol

>>2161043
On legacy, the magic archer skill augment quest (the first one) can't be completed, it's not on purpose I hope? The job master just stay at the entrance of the dungeon and won't progress the quest
>>
>>2190836
Just to be clear, on that post you quoted I was referring to the Rising server with those comments about Season 3 content, I have not tried Legacy, but what you're describing there doesn't sound intended.

are there any good writers left at Capcom? With how kinda shit (being generous) the story was in MHW I'm starting to think they are in trouble in that regard. We'll see after the next batch of games (Onimusha, Pragmata, RE9) release. I hope they do fine.
>>
>>2191003
Nobody cares about the story in MH so there's no reason to assign good writers to it

It could be great if they aped a bit from 19th century hunting stories and let the game be an immersive, tracking oriented hunting simulator (for the main quest anyway)

>>2191389
Dragon's Dogma as a franchise is so good at gameplay that everything else is comically bad and it still manages to find traction
How are you feeling DDON rn btw?
