Tibia Thread!I wanted to host my own private server so I did. And I'm inviting you to try it out! Here's the website: https://tibia.0x4a41.itThe client is under the Account tab after registration.I'm still trying everything out so this is a test run that'll go for a week, more or less. After that, I'll nuke the server applying all the modifications/fixes/patches of all the issues we happen to find in this period. And if the server becomes popular enough I'll reopen it once again, hopefully avoiding further resets. So yeah, any issues, feedback, tips for others players are welcome. I'll be monitoring this thread. You might find be in-game by the name of 0x4a41.Btw, if you don't know what Tibia is, it's like the grandpa of MMOs. Inspired by the likes of Ultima 4, Ultima Online and MUDs.
>>2179422Huh, I took down the server since there was no interest at all. There's not much to it, really, besides nostalgia. The game has a weird perspective, inspired by Ultima VI (not 4, like I said in the OP, I misremembered), and it used to be considered hardcore due it's PVP rules: you could attack other players pretty much anywhere. That, and a harsh death penalty that erases days of grinding. Besides that, quest design was quite novel, if kinda obtuse, making the game feel full of mystery and interesting the explore.Nowadays, at least from what I've seen from the current version, it feels like a Diablo-lite. Most penalties can be mitigated somewhat, they are opening new worlds constantly, making players rush into them to see who gets first in the leaderboards, etc. This video summarises it quite nicely (the current state of things, not the old experience): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwwMhf4bIAY
Its over
>left it up for 16 hours on a generals board and then just idk shut it down i guess awardyou seem dedicated enough to run a games server i am certain of it young man
>>2188081It was up for a week. It's still up, actually. I just don't care if you lot join or not.>Generals board/vm/ wasn't like that in the beginning
>>2188581It ended up as one. At the end of the day, all you need is 1 guy who keeps on bumping the thread, even if they're playing it by themselves. But you're fine, OP. You did as you intended. It'll take some time before your thread disappears so who knows, maybe someone interested will come along and try it if still happens to be up.
