That's the question of the day. If you can consistently deal damage and stay alive you're good. It's a quite obscure system that calculates all your defensive stats into one. Before toughness was introduced we had armor (capped at1000), percentage resistances (max 70%) and it was very clear you needed a 1000 armor and your resistances for a specific difiiculty to viably run it. These days it's whether you can dole out the beating and not be on the getting the short end of the stick. So, other than "if you stay alive you're good" I couldn't really say despite my best intentions.

So many games with variable skill trees and lots of options could learn from that. I just attached my second board, the one with Blood Rage since I'm so hyper-focused on bleed. Blood rage also just comes with the 60% damage increase while Berserking, which I am frequently doing.

Storm Druid was not a lot of fun at all; I think I got spoiled by running around as an Arbiter. Respec'd into full-on-Werebear + poison and I feel much more powerful, though it did almost turn it into a single button build

I need some assistance sorting out the wheat from the chaff here. I don't use most of these for my current build (Arbiter Wing Strikes) and I don't foresee swapping to another build at present. I would like to either sell this or trade it or give it to clan members if there is some interest because the rest of my stash slots are just as full with other random garbo (bags of obols, dungeon keys, runes, varieties of GA ancestral items, and other potentially-useful equipment for my build). It is otherwise cutting into my farming because I don't really like just trashing items if someone else can utilize it, but I haven't engaged in any trading on D4.

I had similar issues when I was playing D2R for the first time a while back and I maxed out my character selection with mules for equipment, not that the issue was solved either.

That sounds easy enough since I do have a ton of the materials. I'll do that for the 2 Griswolds I have there at least then. I was trying to wait for a better GA with a good roll on the unique effect as well before I did the sanctification dance, but I was neglecting the premise of getting a crazy sanctification result.
As for farming that sword - it drops from Andy/Duriel/Dog of Hatred, correct? I haven't found very many of them, disappointingly. I was going to shift to using my Obols on trying to get more copies as well since fishing for build-relevant rings has been a pain overall (I try to keep too much).

Yeah after playing through the game I thought there were a couple of pretty grisly cutscenes. The one with the dogs eating some dude while he was screaming in pain was too macabre for my taste, but the game overall was very dark.
It's interesting that they've stuck so hard with body horror instead of leaning into more of the psychological horror, I was expecting a bit of it with the contrasting developments of Donan and Neyrelle but it fell flat.

Yeah, that's one thing they really did right. It doesn't punish you for trying to test out new builds and the system gives you a lot of leeway in that regard. Also, look up the armory - it's usually located next to a blacksmith or your chest. It lets you save a preset of your current setup (items, skills, paragon boards and glyphs). Mega useful if you like to switch builds.

If you mean the World Boss spot, then that makes sense. I actually went after the quest here to kill the Lesser Evils around the map and I helped these dudes kill Azmodan like 4 times but I didn't get anything except Divine Favor and even then sometimes I got like 25 randomly and other times none at all except from killing the big guy. The chests/altars around all seem to reference the others.
Oh and it didn't check off killing him any of the times for some reason.

basically you'll spend a lot of time killing all 4 lesser evils. you can unlock belial, andy, and duriel's chests at the summoned azmodan if you have 5 of their specific corrupted mats. you'll also get azmodan mats that you can use to open his chest when he spawns as an actual world boss.

Okay, I put together my Divine Gift page, unlocked Torment 1, unlocked Torment 2, learned I'm not strong enough (durability specifically since I damage bigly) for Echo of Lilith. Doing Helltides a bunch, for some reason Azmodan, Duriel, and Belial REFUSE to check off on the seasonal quest. Is it broken?
I also made this to show what i'm currently using that's worth mentioning. Masterwork luckily grabbed my Max Life and Damage against Bleeders on my stuff so that's awesome. Sad it didnt' grab total resist on the pants, but that's alright

how fast is leveling in d4?

After getting to understand the game better I really have mixed feelings on the progression. Early game is kinda meh; you’re gimped skill-tree-wise and either play a little sub-optimal or constantly fiddle with gear, and then later the paragon system just feels too huge for something that comes free to your other characters.

Playing a t4 endgame character isn’t fun for long since drops are not exciting 99.7% of the time. I think it also comes down to how catered class drops/uniques/mythic items trend towards very specific builds.. I hope they add a little in the way towards more layers of complexity to the skill tree and itemization in the future

Don't worry about Sanctification on mythics (and uniques as well I think). Unless you forget about sockets/masterworking there's no bricking whatsoever. The affix replacement is on regular to non-ancestral legendary items.

And a sidenote: best way to farm obucite are horadric strongroom ones. Just FYI.

from what i saw earlier in the season via youtube, only one person can open the portal with their mats. they can't be pooled together.

only the summoner can enter portal that opens however party members can tp to the summoner once they've entered the instance

well lads, we learned some lessons about purified boss runs:

-party members can enter the fight by teleporting to the summoner once inside
-the bosses are much tougher than their lair forms, but we didn't have an issue killing them
-only the summoner gets the rewards which sucks

okay that was the last one i needed. i seriously farmed him for a few days and i'll share my experience.

i'd usually do a few helltide runs per day donating one baneful heart. then i'd run all my grig and varshaan mats to get duriel mats. then i'd run like 25 duriels WITHOUT picking up the horns he drops, to not max out at 20. then when i'd run out of mats, i'd pick everything up and go waste an hour depleting my horns at azmodan, and by the time that was over, i'd have a bunch of grigoire and varshaan mats to start the process over.

then i read by someone on reddit that they got it pretty quickly by summoning duriel in helltide single-handedly with 3 hearts. apparently your odds are better the more you contribute? anyway within an hour of doing that, it finally dropped. so i'd recommend that route desu sorry this is so long

If you sanctify a legendary power it will randomly be a mythic power. so any item could have 100% crit damage or +4 skill ranks/20% damage reduction, aka the powers of The Grandfather and Harlequin's Crest. Very small chance, and you'd have to wheel and deal with player trading if you want GAs with good rolls to sanctify and runes to craft multiple copies of the GA mythics you want. I've gone several days without so much as a sidegrade, filling up my stash between sanctify sessions.

It's funny that you mention it, as I just got a ring roll that I actually liked. I hit the bonus star-affix on crafting crit damage on it and then hit it with the Masterwork. I technically lost like 3% toughness because it doesn't have Poison Resistance, but it seems worth to me.

Thanks for the help. I also just rolled a 3-star Amulet from a chest in Helltide and rolled a 4th star for Whirlwind Size. I'm debating between Steadfast Berserker for Fortify or Iron Blood Aspect for raw damage reduction when near bleeding enemies. I wasn't, purely because the first time I sanctified an item, it was a Tassets of the Dawning Sky and maybe it was just poor luck but the Total Resist was replaced with Crit Chance. After that I figured that chancing potentially turning a piece of gear to shit wasn't worth it.
But after sanctifying the old sword (got 10% damage, but wasn't enough to save it)
Decided to take a chance and most of my gear for 15-40% quality rolls, my hammer got 30% cdr, and my boots lost movement speed (I was well over 200 so this is a plus) for 300 more strength
All around very good

wanted to ask Thread's opinion. I found a "Mythical Prankster" in a nightmare dungeon when running some and ran it, found a Grandfather and I recall that being considered pretty good. Socketed, Masterworked, and then Sanctified, do you guys think this is better than my current spear?
I don't mind swapping my Polearm Glyph to a Sword one probably. I just worry about losing that guaranteed Vulnerable and all the crit damage.

when I look at an item, even if I turn off the comparison, it doesn't show me a bunch of what stats would be changed at the bottom, I just compare them and do the mental math

Go into the menu and in the Gamplay tab check the boxes for Advanced Tooltip Compare/Information. Then you'll get fancy in-depth info.

it's not a guaranteed vulnerable.
every skill has a modifier on lucky hit chance. whirlwind is 20%. if that's the only source of chance to make enemies vulnerable, then the chance per hit is actually 20% * 145.9% ~= 29.2% per hit.
that's why so many builds use the exploit glyph, because that's actually a guaranteed vulnerable.

Don't let the tooltip trick you. Post your offensive stats with your current weapon, and then equip the Grandfather and post those. You'll be surprised.

Well, I only have ubers left to do and I can call it a day. A surprisingly enjoyable season, no doubt thanks to Pally's release, but there was stuff to do.

It's weird to think that we're just one season away from the expansion. Also, the new class. It's meant to be willpower based so a horardrim or an oracle? Both can be either male or female I guess.

I finally wiped out the Uber Bosses after Duriel's Purified Horn dropped (from a helltide summon). Thanks to the advice from Anon here >>2171840 I sped up the process. I was kinda worried it'll take a few days but it all closed under an hour or two.

Seems like the only thing that's probably left for me to to do is getting to P300. Maybe. We'll see. Overall a solid season

I haven't done the Tower yet, but I'm not hard pressed on going through the beta rn. I get it's for the blasters and streamers, but maybe us normal folks will get some enjoyment out of it later down the line. Kudos on reaching that rank though.

I feel ya. Once you have your gear it's not really a thing to do unless you feel like helping some random dude from the chat or a clan.
