The generations all had you doing dungeons multiple times and certain dungeons were only open on saturdays or sundays, slowing you down. You couldn't use bags and half your bank inventory was locked and there were no free pets. You couldn't repair your spirit weapon without service either. Originally you couldn't even rebirth without buying a character card. Thus people who paid were able to be much, much stronger. Now that you can buy service on AH and reforges aren't the main thing anymore, I can only guess what will be next. Probably paid Arcana.

Event outfits can match gacha outfits and the main reason they tend to stay cheap is just because of supply/demand and the fact that the hoes in Dunby don't want to wear them because they see them as cheap and too common
