I usually never go to reddit but I wanted to find more info about this game and boy o fucking boy are they doing nothing but shizo posting about it.

Gummy is a bit of a sperg retard, he had multiple runs attempting to get a TBC private server up and running only for them to get shut down randomly at various points in the server lifespan and disappearing before trying again. Two of his most embarrassing examples are Felmyst 1 and Felmyst 2. Felmyst 1 got shutdown randomly after less than a day with Gummy showing off a fake DMCA letter, then people found out it was still being hosted but for Gummy's personal friends to play on for some reason. Felmyst 2 actually launched and was doing well but it randomly got shutdown after a few weeks, maybe a month tops. The sad thing is his TBC servers were actually pretty decently implemented, especially at the time.

Having read the drama, my schizo take is that the guy made this to flesh out his portfolio and try to get hired at Blizzard.
So it'll either shut down due to being too successful, or not successful enough.

Anyways what I've seen of the game so far isn't very appealing to me at least. I noticed some flaws in game design that are just poorly thought through or forgotten about after the dev reworked something related.

Why would you play an MMO that gets taken down in a few days or weeks anyways? Pretty much the entire game is made from stolen assets. The server code is made up from old Aion private server code, portrait icons are stolen from different games (e.g. Gwent and MTG), skill and gear icons are from Aion 1, sounds and music are also partly stolen from Aion 1.

I am still probably not going to play this as I discovered Final Fantasy XI after classic wow's final retail crescendo and I believe FFXI is the superior game / BEST MMO ever made now (75 private server scene, not retail) but yeah the systems are just superior.

Serious (I fight this battle almost weekly) if you are employed, trying to form/find a group on HorizonXI (2000+ players regularly btw) can be difficult, some times I have 6h sessions where I only am grouped fighting mobs for one hour of that and barely gain two levels.

They are both amazing (I play both) however HorizonXI for a "new to the game" player is punishment. The game requires alot of social help or wiki consumption. I get pissed off at how long HorizonXI takes to do anything alot then flip over to CatsEyeXI, get shit loads of gameplay, see tons of stuff, then re-remember that HorizonXI is a more "TRUE" experience so I hang out and waste time on there, then I flick back to catseye once I am bored of waiting for parties or making gil to spend on food that I will only use for an hour per day in a party.

I make it sound like shit but the game is amazing crack

Paladin is easy for beginners. I have two lvl 25s, a cleric and a paladin. You can face tank shit and self heal with both of them. Ranger is a mana hungry class and requires you to buy some food to keep farming, but it has good health regen from agi and str stacking that you need for damage anyways. Mage is the hardest since you have no health regen and have to play control properly, but it has rewarding burst combos. Frost nova is a bit clunky to use since it requires you to press the keybind and then press where you want to cast it. Would be 10 times better with a smart cast. I think all the classes are pretty well designed actually.

Ok but for you specifically starting the game on paladin just make sure you get 125 base strength and 75 base agility by 25 so you can equip the best gear. Putting some cheap points into courage and int is not bad. Grab some early HP and mana so that it scales up your rest (3min CD). I put +1k HP and +900mana allocated at 25. Keep your weapon up to date from vendors. Put some points in bartering for better economy. Eventually max it out at 100. Put some points in lockpicking so you can open the locked chests and also max it out at 100 eventually. Putting points in meditation is bait, don't do it. Melee crit is good for soloing. Dodge and block are good to at least 125 base or you can put more to specialize in tanking. Some resistances are not too bad. You NEED to specialize in a weapon type and allocate points to it (75+ eventually). And put 50+ into shield skill also. Or you can disregard everything I have written here and build you character like you want. K have fun bro

Honestly game's pretty fun to at least try. Whether you like the end game is up to you. Redditors are mad the guy copy pasted some jpegs and sound files that he bought. MMO players are such beaten dogs that they cannot recognize a passion project and need to swipe their credit cards on battle passes to validate a game's entertainment value.

I don't really get the hate for the dev. Unlike a WoW server this seems like a game that required a lot of work to get going and I don't really expect the dev to abandon it in a week or so. i would not recommend this since you are limited on xp. better just farm some more.
putting points into lockpicking is sick once you start running barrack keys. theres a 96 locking chest at the end, and a few throughout the dungeon
respecing is possible at the church for 500K

It's 10k(?) exp for max bartering I think it's worth it with the diminishing returns your other stats get. There's a skill lvl 100 locked chest in the second solo dungeon, Undercourse. Having to spend 500k to respec for 4 lockpinging levels feels bad. That's why I started the paladin after cleric.

It hits way harder and can combo you with stun+fear so keep your HP high. I did it before 5k cr so you should be able to do it.
