Meta pivoted hard from Taru, even for mages. Their HP pool is just too low, everyone else lives with 5~10% hp, but the Tarus die. That extra INT/MP doesnt count for much when you're dead anytime the mob farts.

Elvaan and Galka is the Meta, Galka for extra survivability, Elvaan if you're going to be a mage at all. Elvaan tends to make better DPS, Galka are tanks, that said a Paladin benefits from a Elvaans MP/MND more than a Galkas HP/VIT as the former tends to be harder to stack in defensive gear than the latter, but for all other tank jobs you're better off with a Galka.

HNMs are probably a no go if you don't want to follow a schedule, their entire existence requires you to show up at exact 1 hour spawn windows on horizon. Poopsockers would change up their sleep schedule around the spawn timers when I was playing.

In the LS I played in the LS officers would bank them and they kept a tally on the discord of which trophies were banked and when you were ready for the final stage they'd give you a set of them. So they'd hold onto them until you had your 99 imperial gold, catseye, znm trophies, ect all ready to go. That way they didn't have 20 people with 20% progress on a mythic hoarding gurf helms and the LS members got to see which of the three HNMs the LS needed to focus on hunting. Also they had a rule where you could lock an item and no one else could claim it if you were the one who collected the keys for the HNM, if multiple members had keys you're /random for the privilege of using your keys. So if you absolutely wanted a gurf helm you could go out collect the keys for gurf, win the /random and lock the helm and that'd supersede the officer holding onto it. Though they generally frowned on people just selling trophies, I think they let you if you went about it that way.

Not having instances is the greatest problem with XI private servers. Having to wait around for another Dynamis or Limbus group to finish on Horizon is why I stopped playing. It's just a complete waste of time and it throws off your entire schedule.

At the very start of Horizon, there was a grace period where people reserved Dynamis and those reservations were respected but then a group reserved Xarcabard for 2 months straight during prime time on the weekend and all hell broke loose.

This has always been my issue with horizon. The creators of XI originally said that they didn't intend for servers to house more than 1,000 concurrent players at a time. Horizon did nothing to tackle overpopulation.

I just play for a couple hours, do some exp grinding (got to 20 on BRD the other day) maybe fish a little, do some solo exping on BST.
