We're playing Lucent Heart on the Rebirth private server for the next two weeks. Join in if you like.
Lucent Heart is a Greek mythology-themed tab-target anime MMO with an emphasizes on social features, like player relationships, housing, and dancing.

You'll be asked for a password during character creation. This is different from your account password. Make this character-specific password something very short, as it's required to open your inventory/bank every so often.

Caught a ride on the local gondola today, after a two straight nights of completely neglecting it. Was kinda neat.
Every few minutes, the gondola docks at the bottom of the main bridge leading out of town, and an NPC shouts over the System channel about it being ready to board. Looks like some environmental flavor at first, but it actually takes you to somewhere mildly important early on if you manage to catch it.
Where does this gondola lead, (You) might ask?

It leads to THIS four-legged fellow, stationed within the astral observatory high atop Thereall's tallest tower.
Even if you aren't directed to him through some other quest, it's still worth checking-in with this oldster at during your teenage levels. One of his quests gives you a full stack of 999 (!!) Fighting Spirits, in both STR and INT-flavored varieties.
Pressing [F9] while your supply of Fighting Spirits is equipped will boost your attacks by a decent amount, but every hit ticks one point off the Spirit's total. They're apparently worth saving for tough fights, but since you're given so many of them from this guy (and better ones supposedly show up later), you may as well just use these quest rewards as you see fit.

Always love how sunset looks in these 2000s-era KMMOs, drenching the screen with sherbet hues. It's charming, in its own antiquated sort of way.

Guild creation requires being level 36, apparently to prevent GvG abuse (from what I've been told by one of the locals).
At the rate we're going, we should have our banner up in just a couple of nights or so. Not ideal, but not the worst we've come across previously.

After plenty of questing (so much questing...), a few of us decided to give a modular "Star Core" dungeon a shot to mix things up.
We braved the unexpectedly well-lit depths, carving a path through all manner of horrifying grotesquaries. Swarms of leeches! Mechanical werewolves! Ambulatory corn...?
Look, all that matters is every single one of them was an affront to all twelve Gods, and needed to be thoroughly purged, which we did. Great way of gaining EXP too, definitely recommend.

Star Core dungeons are made up of three parts: red, yellow, and blue cores, each contributing to some part of the randomly-generated labyrinth you'll be running through.
Yellows definitely influence which tileset gets drawn, but I'm not entirely sure how the other two colors change things just yet. Still, it's pretty neat that there's a dial-a-dungeon feature in this title for casual party grinding, to go along with the actual, quest-specific dungeons you're occasionally lead into.

The group hasn't played Eden Eternal yet. If you're wanting a cutesty looking game with on the fly class switching, keep your eyes on mmodventures. You can fight monsters at the same level even if your class is level 1. Just means it levels up faster. Hopefully that'll sort out a bit of your autism. I haven't played it in over a decade thoughevermore. Don't know if it will ever win cause it got 0 votes last poll.

Goodness sake, completely forgot to catalog this morning's happenings...! Time to fix that.
A few more photos than my usual batch of uploads this time around, so I'll try to keep the added flavor text somewhat brief (by my standards anyway).

We begin with a trip north of the city, to the rolling green hills of the [Ancient Ruins]. Despite its name, there weren't actually many ruins to be found here - it's more of a highland swamp than anything, really.
There IS a rather conspicuous pyramid found in the eastern half of the map, however. Who's to say when we'll be making our way there.

The morning crew was keen on some dungeoneering to bump our levels up, and one of us had a fancy new two-floor Level 25 Star Core to try out for the occasion.
Before that, however, some admiring of the newest (and soon-to-be-removed) addition to the team: The finest frogge you ever did see.
Sure, it was only Level 1, and could barely survive a fight with even the most basic of enemies outside of town... But it's cute in an ugly sort of way.

The bulk of our night took place within the dusty shafts of a thoroughly grotesquearie-infested mining network, and good lord, did we ever get a workout while traipsing around.
Within the first group of monsters, it became clear that we were very much underprepared, undergeared, and underleveled for the occasion, with every single encounter putting all our skills (and MP reserves) to the test. Still, despite the odds handily being stacked against us, we pressed on regardless.
The frogge seen in the previous photo proved to be more of a hindrance than a help, and thus stayed behind (after it inadvertently pulled an entire room we were attempting to retreat from, nearly wiping the party). For the best, really.

With time running low, we managed to find the key leading to the final room of the Mines, revealing an absolutely titan-sized Goblini to take down.
Not in the cards today, however. With how much we were barely staying alive against just the regular fodder, there was no chance in hell we'd have ANY sort of shot against the big guy here. Best course of action was to promptly panic, and sprint for the exit.
Yes, my UI really is this small.

Bit dull when played solo, but pretty fun when in a group. Sort-of a cross between Lineage II and a more traditional themepark-style MMO, with 2000s animu aesthetics.

Wanting to progress my Tailoring level just a bit higher before heading off to bed, it's back to the [Ancient Ruins] for me, this time scouting-out the scene for some spare [Raw Hide]. However, the monsters which drop [Raw Hide], Thunder Giant Trappers, only spawn during the day.
It is here where the Day/Night cycle actually comes into effect beyond mere aesthetics, as certain enemies will only show up during one point of time or the other. If you can't find a monster you're after despite it being listed in a quest's description, that might be why.
Alternatively, you might need to use an inventory item on something in the environment, such as using an [Igniter] on the bones out infront of the Bear Cave in Hercules Hill, to summon the appropriate monsters for part of your Level 3 tradeskill quest. (Very specific example, but it's caught several of us off-guard already).

Finally, a quick jaunt over to Melody Valley to see the sights before signing off.
The raw, chaotic energies emanating from this mercifully-tethered World Crystal were causing some real havoc to the surrounding area, manifesting a cacophony of musically-inclined phantasms every which way. Was bit much for just a single, low-level Priest to handle, however. Hopefully I'll have some reinforcements for the next foray into this wild place.

Made some decent progress tonight, finishing-up much of what Thereall has to offer and moving out for the long haul westward to the (presumably) prestigious commercial hub of Gold Port. Onward and upward for us fledglings, no doubt.
Nevermind the no-doubt dozens of requests from the citizens of Thereall we've accepted and callously left unfinished in our wake. Party bonus EXP when dungeoneering is just way too good to ignore on this server, them's the breaks.

With new sights to see, and a new city to be stationed in (one which actually has a Refinery to throw all your unwanted equipment into), you'd think we would've left our old dirt-poor selves behind and found new riches in these golden lands... But you'd very much be wrong.
Prices on skill upgrades are starting to get rather steep for what little scratch we're earning, and even the prospect of making your own gear - something which becomes expected at around Level 25-30 or so - can be alarmingly expensive if you don't have a network of fellow artisans to share materials with.

On that note, investing in your chosen tradeskill is very much an unavoidable part of this title.
So far, we're sporting one Blacksmith, one Tailor (myself), one Mechanic, one Card Developer, and one Alchemist, each one of us sharing resources and helping out as we can. Just short a Jeweler, if anyone feels up for stepping into that role.
Actually do quite like how scrappy progression feels during the early goings, really emphasizes how important the group dynamic is in this title. Although I also hope our Gold income starts trending upwards before long, or else things could start to get pretty dicey.

A busy night this one was, as several among the Real SEA Hours™ crew press ever-onward through the upper 20s en route towards finally founding our rightful Guild.
While much of our time tonight was spent squirreled away in crafting workhouses, scoring a few notable upgrades to our existing 'kit, we weren't only busy slaving at Tailor's tables and Alchemy labs. Check out the fancy armor on this one!

Her ornate get-up isn't just for show either (although it does make for quite a sight). Starting at Level 30, provided you've assigned all the appropriate skills along the way, activating your Astrolabe will don your Zodiac-specific armor, grating immense power and/or endurance sure to topple anything brazen enough to stand your way.
...Or more specifically, their Zodiac's respective Armor granted them about ~2,000 HP and MP, plus whatever other stats and bonuses their Zodiac Skills bestowed as well, lasting for about a minute or so before dissipating. Each Zodiac's armor has their own perks, with some befitting tanks, others specialized for DPS, and some just being decent "all-rounder" picks, and every choice comes with a complimentary full-restore of HP and MP on-use. Takes quite a while to build your Zodiac meter, however, so pick your transformation times wisely.

Excellent for clutch saves and becoming your party's main character while it lasts.

Nestled within the deepest room of the flooded temple stood a frighteningly familiar foe: Big Red, the very same giant-sized goblin which ran through our ranks during our wayward trip through the Forgotten Mines.
Our initial efforts to take revenge certainly didn't go as planned, however, with him and his shambling squadron of spellcasters quickly blindsiding both our tanks, forcing a tactical retreat.
Second time was the charm though, as he and his minions were no match against the unbridled might of the Sacred Cloth (not that you can see anyone wearing such in this photo - didn't really have time to line-up a good 'shot).

sounds about right, there's like 6 people lvl 25+ and a couple stragglers.
I don't think we have found an effective way to powerlevel yet, the xp penalty seems pretty harsh.

You don't really have much of a choice. You're playing an MMO. Most of them are going to bunch up. And if you want the best experience and can tolerate the gayness, you will join them. And the more people joining in, the more power they have come the voting.

The only time their block power is irrelevant is when the mmodventure admin rigs the votes because he's on a naughty list somewhere and is being blackmailed every now and then.

Congratulations to the first Anon to reach the lofty heights of Level 36, ascending the climb all the way to become this crew's debut Third Class: A shiny new Solar Guardian!

To say the road getting here was hard-fought would be a grand understatement. The specialty Dungeon hiding the final [Proof of the Knight] necessary to advance from ones' Second Class to their Third is absolutely crawling with some of the tankiest monsters you'll ever encounter up to that point, and we were mad enough to go in as an under-geared (and slightly under-leveled) trio...!
Every single foray was a struggle just to stay alive, slowly draining our spare resources dry as we crept through these perilous halls (save for some limited instant-recoveries gained from the Level Up rewards box). The final encounter - a set of five terrifying grasshoppers - required tagging and labeling each monster beforehand, tactical usage of Zodiac Armors, and even a tank-swap part way through... But we did it!

Hell of a night, this one was. Very well done to the Anon involved, especially under such sub-optimal circumstances.
We'll trounce that place once we have a spare DPS or two tagging along with us, as more Anon reach the trials of their final Class Advancement.

The first week's photoshoot has been labeled, cataloged, converted from PNG to JPG, and is ready to post!

We've got /31/ photos to cover this time around, pared-down from ~275 in total. As with many of these large-scale batch uploads, they'll be sans any flavor text to keep the focus on the images themselves. A picture speaks a thousand words, blah-blah-blah. Also I am very tired at the moment and don't want to write little descriptions for all of them.
Several of these will be slight alterations of existing angles, so feel free to pick-and-choose which ones you'd prefer. Having options is seldom a bad thing, after all.

With that said, lettuce begin...!

So I just started playing after being busy for a week or two, the game seems to perform very badly. UI elements are snappy, the game is running at what feels like 20 or 30 FPS. Is there a fix for that?

I remember playing this before beanfun bailed out of being a global company. The dungeons were fun to "build" and get super niche rare shit. The gear durability system was shit and revive abuse in guild wars was cancer. Not sure if I'd give it another chance, but at the time it was pretty cool being the top Dawn Prophet player. I was able to join groups from the three top guilds, though there was HUGE drama and faggotry that I sure don't miss, and did basically everything endgame. Abusing the pk count system was good fun, wonder if they bothered to fix it.
>>
>>2229937
Are shadow warlock and ascetic from the original game or are they some custom donut steel classes?
>>
>>2229985
There were only eight advanced classes, I guess you'd call them, in the global version. I think it was Warrior to Knight and Gunner, those went to Solar Guardian/Celestial Templar and Comet Marksman/Nova Sentinel. Mage was Wizard and Priest, to Moon Flame Envoy/Galaxy Sage and Dawn Prophet/Sun Commissioner. No idea how the TW server was since all of the resources I looked at were for JP since those are the runes I could read. JP was also years ahead and even died after global so they might have had it.

Tried both of these, even moving it to another drive, something about it is making it run poorly and I don't know what that could be. 12 FPS everywhere I've gone, again the UI is quick and snappy so I don't think it's a performance problem.

Tried single core affinity
Tried high priority
Tried Nvidia settings to force FPS
Tried Vsync on and off

It just really doesn't like my computer. I don't have a slow computer, either. Definitely not one that should struggle with a game from mid-2004.

Although the issues described are not the same as the ones you've mentioned, the website warns that some may experience issues with the default files, and provides some alternate ones to download, that affect the game's UI. You may want to try those, to see if anything improves.

If you're on Windows 11, disable Fast Startup (Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose what the power button does -> Uncheck "Turn on fast startup") and then fully shut down your computer and restart from a cold boot.
Fast Startup is known to cause issues over time, no idea why it's the default in Windows 11. Double check it if you're on other Windows versions as well.
Did that a few night ago, and suddenly the game went from ~15-30FPS to a smooth 60.

So question, I'm level 10 mage right now, I usually go some kind of support class when we have these games. So would you recommend Priest or Wizard? I heard Priest is a nightmare to solo and eventually they die to one or two hits unless they get a really good pet.

Glad to hear it worked!

Fast Startup in Windows 11 (and whichever other versions include the feature) is basically just "Sleep+" rather than a proper full system shutdown. Keeps various drivers and utilities loaded in RAM when your rig turns off, ostensibly reducing the time it takes to boot from startup.
Of course, as you might imagine, not fully purging active memory inevitably results in issues cropping up after a while; especially in older programs, like most of the MMOs we play here.
Having the feature on by default like nothing will ever go wrong with it, then burying the option to turn it off in an obscure secondary menu of an existing sub-menu of the Control Panel, is so painfully on-brand for modern day Microsoft.

For a secondary Windows 11 tip: If you're running on a 1440p/2k/4k monitor and have issues getting virtually any game we play here to load in native resolution...
Right click your desktop, choose "Display Settings", go down to "Scale & Layout" and change Scale to be 100%.
Resolution scaling defaults to either 125% for 1440/2k monitors, or 150% for 4k monitors, effectively mimicking a 1080p or 2k look for clarity's sake for casual browsing. Games of MMOD's vintage weren't designed with resolution scaling in mind, so changing it to 100% will help with that.
That said, turning resolution scaling to 100% is also likely make UI elements extremely tiny, since again, most of what we play here are old games made for old resolutions. Toy around with it, see what happens.

>I usually go some kind of support class when we have these games. So would you recommend Priest or Wizard?
Priest is the game's de-facto healer, and the only class which can provide very mild support buffs to other players during the Second Class level range (10-36). Dawn Prophet (one of Priest's 3rd classes) and Galaxy Sage (one of Mage's 3rd classes) also provide party buffs past Level 36.
It should be noted that most of the more impactful buffs/debuffs in this game actually come from consumable Cards which the Card Developer profession can make, with any class being able to use Card effects on any target they choose. If you're leaning more towards being a buffer/support rather than a traditional healer, you aren't necessarily locked into playing the latter as well.

>I heard Priest is a nightmare to solo and eventually they die to one or two hits unless they get a really good pet.
Priest can take a hit better than Gunner or Mage during the earlygame thanks to its shielding and healing abilities, but it's by far the slowest solo class in the game, and it does eventually become nonviable for them to do things on their own. You'll absolutely want to group-up with other people, or at the very least, buy a Frog Pet from the Beast Trainer when you have the gold for it (then swap it out for the freebie Battle Pet you get at Level 40).

Priest's solo viability is more of a concern if you choose to play this game for longer than most of us will be sticking around for it, however. If you're just here 'til the MMOD moves on to another title come this Saturday, I'd say to go with Mage, as it'll make the ultra early levels a good deal faster.
If you've already made a Priest though, that's totally fine, as we actually only have just a couple of those, and EXP-lucrative Dungeons absolutely require a Priest without question. You'll be appreciated by the lower-levels among us, for sure.

Been slacking on my screencap uploads since the big Week One photoshoot! Let's fix that.
Super short flavor text on these, given the amount of photos on-offer this time around, paired with how absurdly late(/early) it is in my part of the globe. These should be speedy reads compared to my usual over-long style, at the very least.

We begin with our marque marksman in full Zodiac regalia, poised to pierce any target with their stylish looks (and also their bullets).

Said potential was a full rave's worth of special effects flooding the screen, and absolutely annihilating anything not allied with us (this 'shot was the combination of several Battle Pets using their AoEs, plus further effects from our Ascetic's buffs).
Was rather beside myself in just how ludicrously effective these otherworldly summons were, as it really did feel like we were pets to them rather than their rightful masters.

Little late in posting this one, but here's last night's travels from the Real SEA Hours™ crew.
Being a bit more selective with my screencap choice this time around, cutting the photos I was planning to post with this batch down from 15 to just 11. Hopefully that'll lessen alt-take fatigue a bit.
Let's start with a bit of impromptu dancing in Gold Port's main plaza. Gotta get nice and limbered-up for the day ahead, you know.

En route towards the final step of our long-awaited Class Promotion quest, we stumbled across THIS intimidating sight, resting atop the cliff overhang in Argos Bay. A proper World Boss!
World Bosses take several /days/ to respawn when dispatched, so coming across one out in the wild on a lark is definitely a rare sight.
Fortunately, despite easily being able to run any of us through in an instant, this one didn't seem eager to fight, choosing instead to lazily flaunt her fancy bow whilst giving her rather-terrifying mount a rest.

Love is (ostensibly) in the air across the realm, as Valentine's Day will soon be upon us.
As such, these little guys (and one notably big-guy elsewhere) have been stationed in the many capital cities around the world, offering goodies to those who retrieve Pieces of Heart found by slaying grotesquaries abroad. The Duke of Daily Quests doling-out your daily dailies really seems to have a particular disdain for pirates.
First we've stripped them topless, then we've robbed them of their Pirating Licenses (can't be a pirate without a loicence after all), and now we're killing them en-masse for scraps of firewood. This just feels like bullying at this point.
Can't deny - the color pallet, texture-work, and general early-2000s vibe of the "deep forest" section here does remind me of our stay in Ferentus. What a curiously memorable title that ended up being.

Been away from the thread for a little bit, so let's have a screenshot roundup of the last three days of happenings amongst the Real SEA Hours™ crew.
This will be my last set of uploads here, as I'll be M.I.A for the Valentine's Day 'shoot later this afternoon. Can't be helped, I'm afraid.
One last ride, here we go!

We begin with what appears at first glance to be a trip to the Card Developer's workshop. Furniture looks the same, the star-print ceiling looks the same, even the startlingly accurate recreation of the sanctum's wooden astrolabe could easily be mistaken for the genuine article. But nope, this is the actually the inner sanctum for the Star Muses, messengers of the gods.
Evidently, whoever designed the Card Developer's prized workshop must have been a huge fan. Or a huge fraud, one of the two.

Level 40 is a highly anticipated moment in any Zodiac Knight's career, as that's when a free Battle Pet Capsule is bestowed upon those fortunate enough to reach such lofty heights.
It's a special occasion for sure, with plenty of incredible avatars to potentially call at your command... Yet unfortunately, mine was a little lacking compared to the rest of the pantheon (and also didn't have very good unique skills).

Spun the wheel a few times more with some spare Stardust, and lucked into landing a Hireophant instead!
With unmatched healing capabilities, and one heck of a fine aura to boost a party's Max HP, seldom a lasting scratch will besmirch your allies... At the cost of potentially blinding you whilst walking around with your HP raised to the skies (fortunately Pet Effects can be disabled if necessary).

Perhaps I'll swing by again somewhere down the line. There's clearly so much more of this title to dig into, so many spells left to learn and crafts left to build. Yet I suspect the time I've spent here, with this crew on these ever-short days, will mark the peak appeal of this title's run without equal.
It's been fun, lads. Glad I came back for this two-week romp. See (You) beautiful bunch in another land, someday, somewhere!
