General philosophies for medium and heavy tank equipment?
I’ve settled on running hardening + vstab/IRM (tier 7 and below) + rammer in heavies, and vents + optics + rammer on mediums, to lean into vision range. I’ve tried using turbos on slow heavies and I like the idea of it, but honestly I don’t notice any difference, it’s still a slow turd. And half of me wants to put hardening/vstab/rammer on mediums to brawl, while the other half wants to stick with the vents and optics to maintain good view range. I go back and forth on this a lot.
I suppose eventually after more grinding I’ll have multiple equipment setups I can swap back and forth, but in general, what are your equipment philosophies?

The perfect (combat) equipment on any tank is rammer hardening turbo, deviating slightly if you want to fix gun handling a little with exp turbo or get more module hp with exp survivability, usually in those tanks prone to fires or racks.
Deviating from this trinity is done as a cope for bad gun handling, in which case you swap one of the above for vert stab.
And then there are edge cases where you deviate further because of exceptionally bad (or good) soft stats. The 703 for example gets almost no gain from vert stab, so you use aiming device instead to improve final dispersion.
And then finally there are tanks with abysmal guns that need strange things like fire control or IRM. Cobra for instance.

Vents are a meme and usually pointless unless you have bounty or bond and it's on a medium that can afford to waste the slot. Optics is for secondary loadouts for getting zoned into mali or prohk. CVS too.

When considering track hp try to get above 400 where possible. People will tell you to go left field mod and drop hardening on IS-7 but then that allows you to be tracked in one shot by tier 8s. Notably the kranvagn has 300 base track hp and can afford to diverge in field mod selection.

The last thing to consider is camo abuse with low noise exhaust. The 416 for instance.

Rammer is whatever if you’re not playing something with 2700+ base DPM. The playing environment is full of autoloaders that will race your 7 second reload with their 2 second intraclip, permatracking is a dead concept and maps aren’t generally exposed enough anymore to farm people out of position like swamp or pre-reworked glacier/redshire.

ISU-122-2 looks annoying to play with its mediocre camo and 12 degrees of gun traverse + autopen lfp, ufp, and casemate. It does have a siege mode which doesn't show up on tanks.gg but I don't think I've liked siege mode on any tank so far.

The kanonenjagdpanzer 2 though looks really good with its absurd camo and profile.

The rest are all tanks I want. I'll probably buy a bunch of these and hope I get a little bit lucky since I already have a T-44-100.

Despite the shitty armor profile, the Udes Alt 3 is a beast. It's really, really good; look up a few gameplay videos and you'll see what I mean. If it had the autobounce T9 hull it'd be gamebreakingly toxic and you'd only ever see it in black markets if at all.
I think the only duds in these boxes are the T-44-100 which most people probably have and is not particularly special or unique and maybe the ISU-122-2 which is at least an interesting double barrel gimmick TD if nothing else. But looking at it; it has a fast salvo time, an absurdly low lockout on nearly 800 alpha of damage, and very good gun handling for twin 122s.
I can't see myself upset with ANY of the tanks I'm missing from this box, maybe the Medved is a bit mediocre?

Another dogshit match - loaded up my DZT-159, pushed into a perfect hull-down position against T8 heavies that could do absolutely nothing to me. Fired 11 shots in the 3 minute blowout match, every single shot fully aimed. Four missed entirely, three failed to pen because they didn't hit weakspots. I even loaded HEAT and it still barely did anything for me. It's just frustrating, like every single shot I've fired today has been off the mark to the point it's hard not to believe in forced 50%. The four pens I did get were shots that literally could not miss, like it was not physically possible. I miss shots with 80% of the enemy tank in the reticle though.

Accuracy Improvement T3 gets better past 3 seconds, but for shooting opportunities under 3 seconds (aka majority of the time brawling or corner/ridge peeking), bond IRM gives a way better experience. i hated my lion too until i put on bond IRM on it.

IRM also gives you benefit on snap shotting and after firing dispersion. that experimental equipment you have on is dogshit option for nearly every tank except for FV4005 that actually has to consistently take the >3 second to aim in

Wonder how much the wot plus pro is going to cost. So far a years premium and 12 months of wot plus costs €166.64 euro. The new wot pro plus coming out im 2.2 offers 35% extra credits, combat and crew exp but only for a single tank and can only be changed every 12 hrs. I have permanent premium and WoT+ and I'm a whale with a career and I don't know if I'll bother with WoT+ Turbo Pro or whatever it is. The 35% thing is the only real feature it has to sell me on it, and it's really not that huge. At most I guess I'd use it for grinding a Tier 10 to 11, but playing T10 is the peak of the gameplay already so I don't really see the point in radically speeding the grind up.

Unless it's the BZ-75. I'd rather free exp the whole tank than do that grind again. But yeah, I'm not really seeing the value in this. I think I actually play too often to make it worthwhile. I don't need the credits, and I'm not really worried about battlepass points. I do appreciate the system of tagging a vehicle to make it a semi-premium, though. It has excellent camo, a low profile, amazing gun depression and good DPM as well as not having any moving dispersion.
But, it has two problems;
one; it doesn't have armor so yes it can't leverage forward/aggressive positions on small maps with narrow lanes. It also can't do what the STRV does where you laugh and autobounce smaller caliber guns
two; every match is a 3 minute blowout so you don't have time to sit back and stack up the damage from a concealed position, you either have to chase damage or your entire team is dead and you're about to get overrun

if you have client side reticle on, it's better to wait out half a second or so to allow the server to catch up.

another thing that causes inaccuracy when shooting: the tiny mouse movement when you click down the left mouse button to fire.
if you have a heavier mouse or a tank with small turret dispersion on movement it doesn't matter as much, but if you have a light mouse and playing something with shit turret dispersion bloom like grille 15 then you're gonna get shit on and getting "trolled by WG" everytime you fire

You can actually verify this yourself; either turn the server reticle on in settings, or use an Aslain mod to turn on both client and server reticle at the same time. It's definitely low on top speed. Going 60 is an antidote to being paper since you can relocate to different ridges. Going 40 means you're slower than some heavies.

I think it's interesting that CCs are saying that in good player hands this tank will be good. I have no doubt a good player can make anything work, but I cannot imagine how can you maximize this DPM, except 1 in 20 games where some zombies are rushing your position and you can farm them. I'd take IRM over Spall, and really I'd take experimental T3 over Turbo if you have one for the extra gun handling. Fuel is a waste - the tank has very good power/weight and accelerates to top speed incredibly quickly, it just lacks a top speed. Going uphill on Himmels I hit like 34km/h though, it does not lack for PW/accel at all.

Game changing idea that I stole from a CC;
15cm gun added, tank can swap between 105 and 150 guns.
Alpha of 650. Effective DPM of 2850~ compared to the effective DPM of 3589 on the current 105
Dispersion values of 0.22/0.22/0.12
Two degrees less gun depression because it's larger and takes up more space in the turret, same 8 degrees Concept 5 gets

Now you have a highly mobile wheeled TD/medium hybrid that can either focus on delivering constant high DPM very accurately like a Concept 5, or can focus on hitting hard like a proper TD while leveraging mobility to reposition quickly.

the easy way to play ashigaru is taking snipe shots in the backline for 4-5 minutes until teams whittle down on both sides for cleanup

bond binocs help you self-sustain and activates faster than regular binocs. i found that IRM wasn't really needed when sniping / cooled off barrel and not needed in DPM situations (aka close-mid range)

tried T3 experimental turbo and changed for bond turbo. the extra 1 km/h is noticeable, the extra horsepower makes the tank turn faster and was the difference between getting 40 to 43 km/h inconsistently or keeping at a steady 45-46 km/h on slightly bumpy terrain. it really, REALLY wants a 5+ skill crew at minimum.

the more i play with it the more okay it seems. it's held back by high entry requirements via 5+ skill crew and pink bounty equipment needed to push the tank past its undertuned characteristics.

the gold shell is whatever but the regular shells is quite strong at 280 AP pen and 1400 m/s shell speed. you can lean into it as an economic tank, as long as you penetrate 70% of the shots fired you will break even on standard account due to somewhat cheap credit costs for the damage (1080 credits)... though it is kinda of weird to play a whale tank like this economically.

i overlooked the aim time stat at 1.40 seconds, it negates the shitty dispersion stats. uncooled gun accuracy is usable and i haven't got any of the accuracy field mods yet. i'll be playing this more often due to how decent it functions without food.

i don't think t110e5 is good for this season

the accuracy changes hurt it more than it helps (people don't bounce on troll hull, accuracy was already good and doesn't improve much) and too many 4000 HP type 5 heavies to chew through. it also doesn't feel like it gets role points so on a bad loss i found myself bottom 3 players due to teammates farming their role points with autoloaders and superheavies

i played 6 games before i said fuck it. compared to my other tanks i was not getting as many role points so i was never on the top half of the team

It's not good, heavies in general are too weak.
If you want to trade you can play e4 or foch and be better at mitigating damage.
If you want to carry you can play e50m or 140 and have massive dpm or team dpm off the rip.

It's funny type 5 gets mentioned but if you see a type 5 in onslop you should always just ignore them and kill their team. The worst thing you can do when you encounter one is waste several minutes dpm trying to kill them.

It's really not that hard to play e50m. You just watch minimap, 1v1 any player that isolates themselves, kill them because your dpm allows you to just all in and kill anything that can overextend, then collapse on their team.
It's a very good tank to climb out of wood league with just because players at these ranks will isolate themselves a lot.
You can take the 430u and almost do the same thing, but you will be easier to deal with because it's not as flexible.

140 or any of the inspire meds like the steeb are much harder to play because you need to land an initial shot at match start to charge and use inspire, and doing this without eating a horrible trade is very tricky.
Being a coward and not charging inspire for the initial engage is a throw.
Being too aggressive and getting focused is a throw.
Meanwhile e50m just turns brain off and goes and kills their light or their cs or whatever.

Well, we have the base kit that costs 80 to 100 dollars + the flak cannon which is 20 + paints, pigments, washes, varnishes and cement for another 20 + misc materials like nets, drums, jerrycans and beams to make ladders and frames
I wouldn't exclude the option for additional details like PE or metal/3d printed tracks which is at least the cost of the kit
I assume the entire logistics network to ship these across the us isn't free, and WG has to take their cut

You need to realize this isn't a conventional shooter, it's a game about geomancy and leylines.
If you stand in a position with invulnerable feng shui, you will be invulnerable. If you go to a map location with ruinous feng shui, you will explode and return to the garage.
Good players always go to powerful positions.

Learning the good and bad positions should get you to middle 50s winrate, and then the gap is made up by other skills like aim and other kinds of meta knowledge like tank matchups and weakspots.

There are several problems with teaching people to be good at tanks, though, and one of them is that you simply can't impart that much knowledge onto people using words. It's a game with a lot of micro bullshit involving tanks, positions, map situation, etc.
One general tip is that if you win a flank you should check the map and decide whether to go help the other flank immediately. Pushing forward into base-camping TDs is often the road to a quick suicide.

That's true, sometimes I don't care and just want to drive around and shoot. My issue is when I actually want to try harder, I still get clapped. Hold down R-Mouse to fix the turret and zoom out to look around in third person often; point the gun toward the enemy at all times.
HP exists to trade. You're expendable as bottom tier, so trade up for your own top tiers.
LOW IMPACT damage farming late and from losing team positions only is/looks good for Marks-- more damage more better SOONER. Figure out how to win and the damage will come. Marks % FOMO < Win Rate.
Drive relevant vehicles and not mid or worse ones (know what match ups favor you, AND your allies; carry that over to evaluating if matchmaker favors your team or theirs on the map)

There is so much.
The game has changed a ton, and its probably hard to dominate now than it was then, but here are some things I imagine have stayed consistent:
>Tank Wiggling: If you encounter someone head on, and you are reloading, and your opponent is about to fire, wiggle the turret and tank side to side and you will get way more bouncing, as well as make the player take longer to fire.
>Constant random movements to frustrate Arty: You just kind of have to almost always assume artillery are gunning for you.
>Relocate after disappearing: Once you know you are no longer seen, change positions if your tank affords that sort of flexibility.
>Patience: Use the time.
>On defense, anticipate your next area to run away to.

Unique Stategies:
I played pretty heterodox. What worked for me:
>Trolling & ragebaiting at the beginning. Telling people they are being reported at the beginning of the match just makes them play bad for some reason.
>Central Bushes with Binocs and camo nets, so central that they need to be super rushed at the beginning of the map.
>Blind Fire Bushes ( with mod that tells you if you hit things )

Mods:
Get every mod you can.

>Tank Reload Timer Mod
>Gun Penetration Mod
>Bullet Hit indicator for invisible tanks
>Last Position on map
>Transparent bushes

^ I guarantee you all unicums were likely using all of these, though some are just really good.

lol yes. Classic shit, the global map didn't have enough good drama because diplo took precedence since we all just wanted our free gibs. -G- was full of unicums with experience, so go figure they wiped the floor with some freshly established group of purple clowns. For anyone who doesn't know, the global map used to give your clan gold for holding territory, so being on the map was a big deal. Africa had the lowest income, so that's where us shitters hung out. The big boys occupied Europe.

Yes. We used to drive our M60s into the lake on Lakeville and drown in his honor, praise be. Speaking of Lakeville, it's hilarious to me that the valley is now the most important area on the map. I took a break from 2014-2025 so I don't know when that happened, but wow, things change.

I miss Dragon's Ridge the most, honestly. That map was fucking stupid but I have fond memories of being obliterated on it by an IS in my T-28 back when tier 4s could see tier 7s.

My friends and I didn't play low tier much but I did buy one of those tier 2 german premiums, the Pz38 H. That tank was pretty funny with its 40mm armor all around. Apparently I played 38 games in it.

Yeah they did legit challenge em. -G- was something else though. Calm, collected, and professional. Purple was more about statpadding posers. When you came across them, you could tell they just played the tanks that would drive up their stats like nothing else. I remember the E-50 being like that.

When I left and came back, I discovered that RDDT when I was there all hated me so much, had left all these memes in their teamspeak about me directing matches and them being horrified with ptsd, but never said anything to my face. I would shred those with my T28. Otherwise those things would totally dominate, and could literally just drive straight to the flag poll and cap. It was fun because eventually the stat padding players would realize I was an actual threat, and started playing strategically with theirs, and those games would get extremely dicey.

maneuvers is a 7v7 clan system that requires people to swap out tanks as they get knocked out in battle, until the whole clan gets their vehicles knocked out and reset tank wrecks and points winstreak.
if you don't have the tanks anymore, you will get sidelined for someone else that does.

i played maneuvers like a year ago in a mid-level clan but generally these tanks should be accepted still, depends on your caller.
this is sorted by class, not power levels.

i have no idea what the maneuvers scene is after dravec and ARES release, but generally fast, high DPM tanks are preferred.
if you don't have like at least 10 tanks from this list you're not gonna stay on the team long enough to get points needed to break into the free tank bracket, unless you're in one of those super populated clans that have 3+ parties going at a time

you will also need to have a mic, and be willing to join teamspeak or discord servers depending on how modern your clan is.

ARES armor changes are up.

ARES 90C lost a strip of autobounce armor which is huge for flat ground fighting.

turret is now merely semi-reliable against standard rounds, and hulldown performance hasn't changed significantly as what was impenetrable remains so and was already buttered by gold rounds on live server anyways

ARES 90 turret on flat ground is now soft against tier 10 standard rounds, but can still shrug off tier 9 standard shells

the turret remains good against standard rounds when hulldown, and is a way smaller target to hit when used properly compared to ARES 90C.
Hull did not get nerfed so the 90 is still full of autobounce ricochet angles.

These changes are honestly kind of softball and didn't hit the mobility, penetration, spray burst consistency, heat generation per shot or armor vs standard rounds enough. These tanks will still club randoms so ARES meta continues

It looks pretty solid if you angle the turret a bit and keep your lower plate protected, the cupola doesn't seem particularly large or easy to hit considering the height of the vehicle.
I was going to shill you the VK 100 P like I've heard many times in the past but I looked at it and the turret face is basically tissue paper against gold rounds (and angling it just makes it easy to pen in the side) so they must've nerfed the armor on it or I don't know why it was always the go-to rec
I'd be tempted to shill the Canopener line - they do have cupolas (although the Canopener barely has one) and a comfortable 10 degrees of gun depression that if you're able to use your turret is basically invulnerable.
The problem is also that nowadays with armor flashlight and just the general knowledge/sentiment of the playerbase, most people won't even waste their shells trying to go through the Canopener's turret face, they just reverse and go to a different flank (or stare you down doing nothing if they have enough turret armor that you can't farm them)
Stuff like the Maus or Taschenratte are honestly pretty good, but they suffer from the problem of having massive inflated HP pools.
The Canopener has 2250 so you need to block 4500 without hardening, the Tiger Maus has 1950 so you need 3900 without hardening, the Maus has 3000 so you need a whopping 6000 without any hardening (Type 5 suffers a similar fate with 2900 base or 5800 blocked)
It's not like the tank is incapable of that but it's rare to have enough stupid people shoot you in these turbo matches to block 5800-6000 damage.

You can buy the T10s if you're just desperate for more T10s, but I really don't recommend it. If you do buy a T10, make sure it isn't the 113.

French Meds are worth it if you have zero interest in grinding to the Leopard(s), and/or the Americans. Same thing for T62 and the Obj 140, if that and other Soviet Countries Meds don't hold any interest for you.

113's frontal fuel tank and weak ammo rack are corrected by Hardening, and it's faster than IS-7 (without doing some retarded build, especially since they took out Speed Governor from the consumables) ... but there's the Premium Berlin Opera for Bonds version as well, with a perk crew.

I think a lot of people are underrating point blank.
5% maxroll is 2.5% average, and 2.5% penetration on crappy 60TP heat with 317 pen boosts it up to 325 pen.
It might be niche to brawl tanks with crappy heat but it should see use.

This thing seems kinda insane.
The big weakness is it has fucking NO camo at all, like if you don't build any camo and take the last field mod you can get the moving camo down to 0 (negative on tanks.gg lmao)
But it has respectable armor for a T9 DD, not incredible but enough to bounce some of the lower pen guns at the tier off the turret.
The other weakness is only -7 gun depression, but you have pretty okay gun handling for a double-barreled tank that has 1000 fucking alpha. It does have a nasty 3s charge and an awkward 4s lockout but that's kinda necessary to counter the fact it has a turret and usable accuracy so this thing will absolutely peak around a corner, ricochet AP(CR) rounds off the turret and then put 1000 into you before trundling back around the corner with a decent reload on the 500 alpha gun(s) too.
I'm honestly not sure this thing is going to be great for the MM. On top of all that it's not even that slow, base of 38 if you want to run something like experimental turbo and engineer on it you're looking at 44km/h for a 255mm turret face and 1000 alpha doubles. Yeah it has a cupola but you can play around that and you're not gold immune anyways so it's not that big a weakspot. Also disappears if you do use all of your gun depression, e.g. you're bullying T7s that can't go through your turret with gold.

you could find some detailed penetration indicator inside a modpack like aslains but meh. it only shows unecessary details before firing and you will still have the same problem of why you didn't penetrate an enemy when you bounce something

battle hits is generally enough when you want to sus out why some shots didn't go through with 90% accuracy. it's client sided so it's not the best but extremely useful nonetheless
