>>2242865>this platform full of scanned pirated assets... can be used for pnp piracy?also lol, at most a dozen people will print off their copy. like mediocre game devs blaming piracy when their indie knockoff doesn't sell a billion copies.
>>2242922It is a legitimate concern and I understand the designer wanting to put shittier assets in what is essentially a advertising demo but it's funny to me that they didn't realize it was a concern when they put it up in the first place.
>>2242942It would make a little more sense if he wasn't going to provide people with files for user-made translation which they'll need to fucking print once done; I guess by that point the kickstarter is done and he got his money already so he doesn't care, considering he claimed this is a one time thing and Decko won't reach retailers. Is the game any good btw?

>>2244307>>2244305Ye that's what I meant. Would be down to play again tomorrow if anons are up.
>>2244307Yes I'm autistic because I thought that the faggot who just discovered "the new milestones" was referring to a new set of milestones instead of the milestones that were included in a seven year old expansion to arguably one of the most popular board games in general in this thread.I would tell you to sell your copies of FCM (along with retard OP) but I'm sure you're too broke to afford one (let alone the expansion) so just do us all a favor and uninstall TTS before your combined retardation spreads to innocent board game enthusiasts.

>>2244790I'm interested, tooI wanna try Vantage out and see if it's worth buying
>>2244934>Vantage is an open-world, co-operative, non-campaign adventure game >Designer: Jamey Stegmaier
>>2245226not really a boardgame person, does he have a reputation or something? i played a lot of wingspan with my sister
>>2245226Oh, but it gets better. Despite being cooperative, you're basically playing solitaire. Only you can see your Vantage and the location card you draw, you can describe it but only you get to pick a choice on the card and suffer the consequences, oh but if one of the players fully loses one of their resources (stamina, time, and something they used a heart for) that ends the "day" and forces you to end the game and reset and draw a new objective for the day. Or something like that, i honestly tuned out of the rules explanation halfway through because holy shit it's kinda boring for an exploration game. Interesting concept to have a mapless map split into hundreds of cards, but not interesting enough to carry the whole dicechucker bookreader of a game. >>2245229A reputation is probably the best word. He made Viticulture, a game that took three expansions that actually just change the game altogether to fix; Scythe, a kickstarter funded, designed with an expansion in mind, unbalanced mess of a eurogame masquerading as a diet 4x war game; and Expeditions, which is just Scythe without pretending to be a 4x. There's another game on this list but I haven't played it so i can't comment on it. Oh and he also made a fan faction for Terra Mystica which got an official publication so now his name is on that too.
>>2245304what's a eurogame?
>>2245229Him and his Publishing company basically only release overproduced, imbalanced games that rely solely on theme and aesthetics rather than an actual fun experience. His philosophy is literally "profit is the first, second and third most important thing in game design".Also it's pretty funny that if you look at his profile picture in forums from the thumbnail, it looks like he has the "just fuck my shit up" haircut.
>>2245329In boardgames, for a long time there were two main "schools" of design: the european design which featured lss focus on style and more focus on mechanics (El Grande for example), and the american design which focused more on the style and the mechanics were forced to fit the style (see also Twilight Imperium). From there came the two terms: Eurogame describes a game where you need to think a lot to win, where maximizing efficiency of each of your turns is expected, and where interaction between opponents is usually blocking certain spaces or bidding exactly one coin more on the auction than the other guy; and Ameritrash describes the flavor first, rules whatever, beer and pretzels kind of game where you just draw cards, roll dice and see what happens. While the nomenclature might suggest that ameritrash games are worse, one gamer's trash is another gamer's treasure, and both styles can be fun, and modern games mix the two to the point of these terms almost being obsolete, but there's no better ones and i don't think we'll get any until more people read "Characteristics of Games".tl;dr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyYexTcyY2A

All right, you now can't submit paintings if there's one still on the easel. Now as long as you can follow directions, the game should play out as normal. I also added a 2 second delay to the sell painting function so those of faint heart don't get spooked.

Ringo's artwork are all rectangles, so I'll have to make a new template for them.
>>2248622What if you fill that empty space with the background pattern of the pictures?
>>2248483>All right, you now can't submit paintings if there's one still on the easel. If I play a double auction alone how do you play an additional painting?
>>2248699There's an exception for that, it'll allow an additional painting if the current one has the "Double Auction" description. First player submits the DA by itself, another player submits the second painting.
>>2248644I'd have to try and redraw/clone stamp 12-16 ms paint doodles and I don't wanna do that. I'll just sort out a square aspect ratio template like the gook cards.
>>2245350I detest these descriptions. Especially the idea of "where you need to think a lot to win." Eurogames just focus generally more on engine play, whereas Ameritrash is sequenced tactics. There's not an exceptional difference in the amount of thinking between the better examples of each genre, just how they're structured and what you're doing. And the whole charge of "describing the flavor first" has been applicable first to many examples in both design philosophies for a while now. Lord knows there's been quite a few eurogames hosted here where they have to be explained for a 3rd time over during play, because instead of saying "You can upgrade this token in the upgrade phase," they're bogging it down with "You can spieggel spaggen your spoggen in the spuggle phase" and players spend time being confused and concerned about when they'll have the new terminology explained, while the rulebook positions heaps of flavor text within the rules as if it's relevant (and often contains such terminology)Nowadays, it's better to place games on a scale of interactivity and then on a scale of slop, as it's the former that really distinguishes Euro and Ameri games, and the latter of all kinds exists across both genres.
>>2249330Acquire doesn't have an engine and it's the foundational Eurogame. The original distinction was that Eurogames had indirect conflict and Ameritrash had direct conflict.
>>2249555Acquire deez nuts lmao
>>2249330fair enough, my grasp of the structural differences between the genres (as well as the English language in general) is not the bst, which is why i said that lately these words as I use them have become obsolete. Thanks for the more indepth opinion on this.
>>2249982Nah don't worry, you still described them alright. My opinion is less one that's in-depth and more of that of someone with a chip in their shoulder on the matter, hence being a bit incensed. Just an added viewpoint on the comparison, and any contention is just more with the other people out there that have so routinely dared to not give mindless dice chucking the respect it deserves.

>>2251456>what's the point?Because just like there's a reddit for that, there's a reddit for 4chan, so we need to leave 4chan to get away from the redditors and be with the actual anonsBut as for the serious answer, there's not much point to it, but there's also really no harm in it. If it gets more people to graduate to being hostanons, then more power to it. As long as lobby details are still all posted to the thread, there's really nothing it would really change for the worse.
>>2252512You're arguing in bad faith. If you think it doesn't matter then why do you care about doing it?
>>2253152>You're arguing in bad faithSo much for "serious replies">why do you care about doing itI don't. I'm not that anon.
>>2251385I love the UI.This could be great for planning long term big games, maybe we can finally get a full lobby for Twilight Imperium maybe end it with no rage quits this time.
>>2253292Eh, I wouldn't really say it's extra useful for any planning long-term, given that you'd still need a back and forth to decide on the timing, and then once it's decided it can be posted here. I guess maybe it's useful for people wanting to use it as a dedicated thread within a thread, but that's still kinda whatever. The most actual practical use I'd expect out of it, within the case of a thread like this where people are usually down to play whatever and there's minimal setup, would be to advertise /v/eekends in advanced. Otherwise any of the benefits mostly just boil down to personal preference or potential placebos, but it's not like it hurts anyways.

Otherwise, it's usually just letting people that are low commitment and generally weren't going to play anyways lie to themselves about how they definitely do want to join, and then they almost always flake.

Photos or scans of Web of Power's rulebook, please.
>>2284887I'm taking 1200dpi scans but they're coming out around 280 MB. Catbox caps at 200 MB. How do you want me to get them to you? Also, this scanner is slow as balls. Each page takes 8 minutes.
Scans are done.
I forgot that litterbox allows larger files. Here you go: https://pastebin.com/raw/khw3BRW5

Speaking of planning games, I'm hosting Twilight Imperium for /vst/ this Friday, in honor of the digital edition getting a "demo" out, but nobody there responded, so if anyone here would want to play too feel free to drop a time (+timezone) that would be the best starting time for you, as currently i don't have a time set. The game takes 4~8 hours depending on how slow we play so keep that in mind when deciding on time.
>>2285166Should be a little faster if you'll play the digital edition, but it's still a fair amount of time to dedicate. Wish you luck, anon, I recall TI4 being fairly popular here last year or so.
>>2285285that's the thing, the digital edition "demo" is just the combat part of the game, not the full game with limited factions, and not even a scenario with only two rounds. It's underbaked and i'm puzzled as to why the devs aren't ashamed of putting that out as the official Steam Next Fest demo. It's good but it's not a demo, it's like saying a thin slice of lettuce is the demo version of a sandwich.

>>2245226Vantage: https://gofile.io/d/b52I6tAnybody have Final Girl?
>>2285899Final Girl was posted a thread or two ago.
>>2285861Game ends 202 vs 175! GG and WP. That's all the time I have for now, might be back later tonight.
the Emergency Council of Winnaran Custodians has decided, and hereby decrees, that the Twilight Imperium game will be hosted, at 6:30 PM (18:30) GMT (Galactic Mean Time), or in a bit more than 4 hours from this post's publication. For those not familiar with the procedures, a helpful instructional video is attached, the unpaid interns are not confident in their on-site teaching abilitieshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toGTh6niLqEWe hope to see you (yes, YOU) at this historic event.
>>2286868You'll go with the steam demo version or will you host via TTS?
I want Polyominos, anybody up for Horseless Carriage?
>>2286895via TTS, of course, because 1) this is the TTS thread, and b) the steam demo doesn't support multiplayer
>>2286899sorry mate, best i can do is Patchwork, that is until i find an actually complete mod for MyCity with all the legacy content included.
>>2286934>PatchworkToo complex.
>>2286899I can't play on TTS today, but if you're really up to it we can throw a turn-based game on OBG
>>2286943No thanks, I'll wait for a time we can get some people here.

>>2287193Good luck on your game anon.
>>2287193room is still openis ther really nobody who wants to rule the galaxy besides me? or did i give out too short of a notice for people to see?
>>2287377Uhhhh I think I joined the wrong lobby.Speaking seriously, TI is too much of a commitment for what I personally believe gives back. First time I played TI idk if it was here or somewhere else it started really really slow, nobody really did anything particularly for a couple hours, then somebody lost a bunch of ships in combat and just left the game, we continued for a couple more hours and then we ran out of time and had to leave, it left a very bad taste in my mouth. It probably requires maybe a week's time for people to prepare themselves if they want to play it, maybe try using GameDate for that.
>>2287193>>2286868Due to 0 joiners in 3 hours, we'll push back the date by a week. Lobby closed. See you guys next friday, when it's not a cursed 13th.>>2287554understandable, the game does start out a bit slow if you're not playing with a goal in mind, and losing a fleet can feel like you've lost the game, but it's not Space Risk, war is not the only solution and usually not even the best one. My condolences to your first experience being so bad, there's good in this game but it takes players who wanna see that good to find it.
>>2287585TI seems like a game you'd have to recruit people for well in advance, try gamedate.
