City of Heroes ThunderspyGinyu Force EditionLinks:https://thunderspy.net>What is City of HeroesCity of Heroes is a now defunct MMO centered around Superheroes. It was published in 2004 by NCSoft but was shut down because it didn't do well in Korea, even though it did fine in the west. In the late 2010s, a secret server of it was operated, which eventually led to several private servers of it popping up. >What is ThunderspyThunderspy is a private server of City of Heroes, with several unique features, developers that STILL develop and work on the game today and a lax attitude to player conduct.>How can I play it1. Go to https://thunderspy.net/guides2. Download Sunrise Launcher3. Create CoH folder on a partition, preferably on an SSD4. Create a Sunrise Launcher Folder inside the CoH folder5. extract contents of Sunrise Launcher Zip into the Sunrise Launcher Folder>What special features does Thunderspy have that sets it apart from the othersJust to name a few: Full Pet Customization, Unique Power Sets, Streamlined crafting, Improved Character creator, complete reworks for some power sets, streamlined housing, uncapped mission scaling
Kinda full (but not exhaustive) list of server-specific features.1. New costume parts, fully modeled 6 years after the game leaked.2. Normally, the moment you outlevel a contact (questgiver), any missions attached to them vanish and you can't continue their storylines. Now, missions scale up to your level, no matter what your level is. 3. Several improvements to character creator. Full color picker instead of a pallette, unique power animations, improved sliders for more model customization4. Enhancements are tiered into 5-level thresholds and enhancement decay is completely removed. Typically enhancements would rapidly lose their effect as you level up even once beyond their required level. 5. Important currencies were summarized into 'Merits', which can be earned from both group content and solo by completing story arcs. Most crucial items can be bought from Merit Vendors for Merits or Influence (basic currency) and the prices were drastically reduced to make character progression more streamlined and less grindy. 6. Crafting was massively simplified. Typically, there were over 100 different types of salvage (crafting materials). This has been reduced to 6 types and different rarities within said types. And any needed materials can be bought from vendors for influence. Big focus on streamlining character progression without trivializing it7. Very lax moderation8. Various new power sets and archetypes were added and some including Defender and Mastermind have gone through massive reworks9. There's a single player version of bases called 'apartments'.10. The logout time it takes to gain the badge tied to one day job (Rest mechanic), was originally a full month. This has been reduced to 6 hours11. Recently, new emotes were added. https://youtu.be/v5C-W8s4fMI12. Smaller bugfixes.
Gameplay fingerpointersPowers = abilitiesThere is no conventional 'gear', in the armor and weapons sense. There's only 'enhancements' that can be slotted into powers to make them stronger in some way. Enhancements can also be part of a set with additional effects. You can also later acquire or craft guns and baseball bats in the form of temporary powers.
It feels weird going back to paper missions after doing those trials.
