thats not u, it does run like shit when theres a lot of action happening. combination of unity plus just hard to optimise for 150+ characters doing shit, plus calculations for the bullets, explosions animations. game requires a really beefy processor.

So far I am having a blast and enjoying the game.

I only play in 1st person
I had some trouble at first, frames were low, my game sense was bad.
The starter rifle i feel like you need some skill as its innacurate and more for rapid pushing.
I bought the 3rd rifle for either infantry or engineer and its got way better accuracy.

Pickaxe is nice for digging twice as fast but lacks the 'add dirt / build up' that the shovel has (press X with shovel equipped)
Adding a dirt birm behind your trench makes it so your fat head isnt as easily skylined when you peak out. And if you build it big enough its just another piece of cover you can peak over or around from ground level and into your trench or across the field.

Flamethrowers seem hella OP, if you even touch the flame you are insta dead. Like jedi in battlefront except they explode and die easily still.

I already saw 2 people I knew from Foxhole.

Had a pretty fun match where we dug a zig zag set of trenches around the right flank, made a spawn, support fire from our flank at the middle defenders but then also we were charging up a hill to blow up fortifications, cut wire, and push into an enemy spawn. I blew it up with dynamite and it felt good. We lost because we then lost the first point but we never would have capped 1st and 2nd point if we didnt clear the spawn at the 2nd point.

Im also amazed some of the wire + wall player built shit they do to cut off all flanks from the edge of the map.

Best I can get is 78 fps and it usually gets worse as the round goes on due to more structures. Dlss on doesnt help much, and makes it too hard to see so I just play at native res on low settings.

Build a 1 or 2 straight sections, then add some cover closer to your side that faces down the trench. This way if the enemy tries to use it, your team can kill them easily. Also

Oh good idea. I was trying to figure out how planks work but I cant get it to go up/down, only rotate.
I saw someone build the most tortured looking scaffolding by placing 50 ramps to scale a cliff wall on that attack/defend map with the UFO shaped bunkers in the middle.

I kind of wish some maps gave more time for both sides to dig in on their half of the map instead of 1-2 minutes.

I usually just dig a simple trench in a hidden but close spot to a point or points and if its a good enough spawn it will skyrocket me to top 5, our team will cap it easily, and it really only needs just enough cover to not spawn wildly in the open. Ive noticed a lot of retards building forward spawns in fucking narnia

If you hold alt while using the scroll wheel, the planks go up and down. They rotate at the same time though so you need to re-adjust it once you get the height you want

I did that and the height didnt change, just the angle up or down.it literally gives you fake and gay tooltips.

Also the game is probably cooked now, due to hackers.

Some asshole built one with a conc barrier, ramp, and camo netting. I turned the corner and did not even see him through the netting.

I would complain but it was actually a kino match on village, our team built so much crap I was out of build points constantly. I tried to set up barbed from like B farm near the map edge all the way to town at A. Attackers always rush farm. Attackers instantly rushed it and then dug a tunnel to get under it after the first wave died.
Tried to double line it so they couldnt just hop a single wire but many got through but we held awhile and got kills. I didnt have enough time at the start but I built a few strong barbed wires too which they just avoided.
Later, when they got btfo'd and switched to attack C, i ran into their attacking trenches and spammed a few annoying wire for them to walk in and blew up some of their sandbag nests with dynamite and their own ammo stations.

a lot of it is luck but other than that, tips that work well in any hardcore shooter red orchestra type game. use cover, move with intent, use 3 person peeking to advantage.

There's actually a free cam button that most people are unaware about(the one on top of TAB), which mean you can play with a relatively low FOV to see further and use the free came to peak your surrounding. There's also further camera options in the setting that you can mess with. The bullet damage in this game is pretty lethal so if you use automatic weapons make sure to spray in the enemy direction and you'll be surprised by the amount of hits and kills you get that way. If you are down in a open field and nobody finish you off, take your full 1 minute before dying to mark enemies with Q. It will greatly help your team as well as giving you score points, moreso of your marked enemy get killed. Situational awareness is king in those kinds of games so sometimes you just need to lay low for a moment and let enemies run into you. It will always happen since its 100vs100

The crosshair widening is basically a psyop. You can move and shoot with a stormtrooper SMG and its basically gonna hit center dot so if you are good at aiming its way more powerful than slow 1 shot rifles. Its very strong.

Q mark doesnt give spotting diamonds I dont think? It just pings the look here ! red triangle. Which is useful but i dont think gives points.

It depends on the round. Server i was on last basically everyone good stacks germans, and clueless noobs or people wanting to suffer go entante, and it was always a big skill differential.

Im having fun spamming dynamite as engi to break good enemy defenses. I build a little but cant do megabuilds cause friendlies cant cover shit. Sometimes ill go rifleman to spam frags.

Some matches you get these insanely fortified positions with barbed wire, sandbag pillboxes, multiple locations where you think the fob might be, and other games just open field with foxhole craters and insane trench mazes with 0 obstacles anywhere.

I would rather play a 1st person only server desu.

There's actually marking AND spotting
Q for spotting and mouse wheel for the triangle marking. And yes, you get a shit load of points by constantly spam spotting enemies.

I think it works like Q if you aim at the ground or wherever, but if you hit Q on a person or tank, then it makes the pip for your team to see.

Here is a decent example, the ramp majorly speeds up our advance into the objective. Otherwise people would be clumping up fucking up the jump over this trench wall. This way they just keep sprinting

Also mortars are fucking insane on this map.

How is it compared to Holdfast?

Over The Top is like Red Orchestra (most guns are 1 hit kill) + some classes have skill call-ins like Star Wars Battlefront (devs responded to one review saying battlefront was one of main inspirations for them)

Holdfast's WW1 gunplay is much less modern, i.e. Mount & Blade jank. Holdfast's artillery is player manned where OTT's is a press of a button ability. I actually refunded OTT and bought Holdfast and I like Holdfast more.

holdfast has more melee combat, more player interactions (ie people screaming bloody murder on voice chat) if that matters, and overall the experience is much less jank.

OTT has better gunplay (which isnt saying much), the terrain deformation is fucking kino, it has the same campaign system as RO2 but with maps that keep the persistent terrain deformation between battles.

Melee combat in both is the shit as warband. I personally prefer OTT but they are similar enough to the point where I would say just get whichever one has a setting you like more. Holdfast just added the naval mode which is really fun and reminds me of the long dead Blackwake if you ever played that.

true, I wish the combat was intentionally more janky like Foxhole or Holdfast so that player life would be longer. That way it'd make sense to talk to someone. there are cannons are some maps and mortars too. but from my experience in HLL and their last game Battle Cry of Freedom, having arty would be 10x worse than player arty abilities. with player-manned arty theyre usually super devastating if they're allowed to be accurate. in BCoF, the regular cannons were not so bad, but the howitzer would just crush pubs because autists would do nothing but train on the howitzers all day and deliver raining hellfire with pinpoint accuracy. non-stop. really unfun because unlike cannons, you couldnt escape the howitzers/mortars.
