icarus was a disaster
I didn't mind it. I got to play with someone I enjoy playing random MMOs with.
>>2391948you sound like you take it up the butt
>>2392036My sexual proclivity doesn't matter. I like playing games with a certain someone and these games let me, so.
>>2392038i know who u r hehe
In unrelated mmo news, Star Trek Online (dunno if it's on the list) is running a quick start campaign and giving away a free Vanguard Jem'Hadar, a premium species unlock, character per account until may 21. Plus there's a gamma recruitment campaign also running.https://www.playstartrekonline.com/en/news/article/11580531
having a gaming buddy is great but i feel bad when i drag him through absolute dogshit, so please vote better!
>>2392078this game would be incredible if they removed ground completely.
>>2392039False. I am a figment of your imagination.
>>2392082Ground combat always felt like an afterthought compared to space combat, it either boil downs to smashing the two fire buttons or using bs overpowered kit powers that nuke the whole screen. Hell, compare the talent trees for space and ground without the advanced specs.
>>2392126It was an afterthought. Ground exploration was added a year after release.
>>2391923I wanted to like it, but game got me hella down. Didn't catch up to any anons, and things happened way too fast those weeks for me to do any sort of power leveling.Wonder if our experience would be better if we picked Origins instead of Phenex
It's not being scared of words, I just don't really want to play videogames with pedophile ERPers
>>2392662>Anon play loli doll>Get called an erp pedo?
>>2392674It's low-effort trolling, ESLkun, just ignore it.
>>2392251Unless Origins is massively different then probably not. I just didnt like it.
>>2391923Riders of Icarus is a weird one. It's not a bad game (even if the combat is oddly sluggish for an Action-MMO), and there's plenty to enjoy about it, but it just doesn't mesh well with our two-week format.Themepark-style titles will probably always struggle to be held in high regard around here, since their entire structure is centered around soloing (or near-soloing) to the level cap where all the actual multiplayer content is. They're the polar opposite of ultra-crusty, late 90s/early 2000s MMOs, where the ONLY way to get anything done is by being in a party 24/7 (which sounds fine until you aren't able to find one and can't make any meaningful progress on your own). There very much exists a Goldilocks Zone of solo versus multiplayer for an MMO to ideally hit, and being too far outside of it can lead to some strong opinions on whether a game is actually good or not.
>>2392748Anon, it's not an action MMO, movement options aren't as good or useful, there is no mobility to be had. It's tab target but a few classes have dodge (that barely work)
It is really funny how all the effort for your project goes into the game voting system instead of server choice.
>>2392756Sometimes there's not much choice to be had, and we have to just go with whatever exists.Other times, the lack of foreknowledge about how a game works makes deciding on the optimal server murky. It's best to have someone who's played these games before give their opinion on whether 1x rates are unbearable or if 15x is too high, etc, but that's not always an option for us.Nobody here played Icarus before, for example, so we had to make a decision based on cursory opinions looking-in from the outside, prior to any of us fully understanding the game's default progression rate. Maybe things would have been better received had we landed on Origins, with its slightly faster leveling curve and free Elluns every hour, but we simply didn't know if those changes would be important at the time, or if it would've muddied the game's intended experience. Some Anon prefer higher rates and getting to see more of these games while we're here, whereas others want to preserve some of the sanctity of the earlygame and not necessarily rush past it. You can't please everyone.Generally speaking, I would argue that 3-15x rates are a safe range to fall under, considering the limited timeframe we give ourselves for any of these titles. Of course, settling on this range (if the options are even available) still requires some prior knowledge of what we're getting into, since for some MMOs, even 150-300x rates are seen as merely "functional". (Although these absurdly high rates are usually only found in VERY old KMMOs, where The Grindâ„¢ is basically all there is. Flyff, Kal Online, Lineage II, etc).
My biggest fear is us landing into some kino like LOTRO or City of Heroes, but lacking enough time to cover a good chunk of the gaemo..
>>2392756This is more of a social event than it was ever about actually playing and enjoying a video game.
>>2392709>disliking the current state of the project is low effort trollingPeople like you are why things turn to shit.
>>2392907Maybe you guys should think about stating this in your OP instead of baiting people into thinking you actually play through dead MMORPGS.
>>2392829any good mmo can't be fully covered in 2 weeks, nobody even got close to the end of wakfu
MMO idler gereral
>>2391923As someone who decided not to play it from the start, was was wrong with it?
>>2391923the familiar system was cool but man the leveling process was awful. having to complete like 30 quests for 1 level is horrid. we probably should have picked origins or one of the servers that gave 2x exp >>2392251I quit around level 22 after doing the vampire dungeon with another anon
>>2392991thats why there are votes to extend the current game by a week but thats only if players are committed to the current game. a lot of anons get bored and want to move on before reaching endgame and doing raids though I would like if we did eventually
>>2392829Thats what week 3 is for, and the project is about looking into MMOs more than it is about fully investing into end game. Also as a CoH player theres tons of power level options (Fire farming, PI Radio farming) so on the final day I can get on my farmer and power level everyone up and we do max level content.
>>2392829Yeah, LOTRO is a bad game for this. You're supposed to take things really slow. There are so many quests in the game that expands the LOTR universe. The atmosphere of the game is really amazing too. Exploring the Shire during the day with the calm and soothing music is so nice. Then if it's a rainy night you go inside an inn or a bar and the rain is muffled combined with the soundeffects of bar sounds is so comfy. I've been playing for 2 months and I still haven't fully explored the first expansion.
>>2392985>you guysI merely observe, which is enough to receive inflammatory retaliation.
Hey guys, I checked Age of Conan and you won't believe this: The halloween mission is still up. In fucking AprilFuncom announcing that update for Conan Exiles gave me the false hope that they did get enough dosh from DUNC Awakening to start fixing shit across the board
Riders of Icarus is dogshit. I played it at release for maybe 30 hours. Dropped it, joined again a few days ago to play with you guys and after 10 hours I just can't go on for longer. Fuck this game.
>>2393557You never played Riders of Icarus, everyone can tell because nobody in-game has played that little. Stop spamming your made-up bullshit because people don't want to play your slop.
stinky neets playing mmos together has never felt so
