Looking at the clip again I'm pretty confident the ice that appears on the ground had something to do with it. Freezes + damages anyone too close, the second patch got destroyed instantly and you can hear the 'doink' collision sound in the full clip, so it tanked the hit for me, seems like.

It's not going to be noticeable if everything's exploding around you, but there are plenty of times when there are only two teams in an area, so there isn't a whole lot of attack SFX going on.
I play with music off and SFX turned up. It's useful for pinpointing enemy position off of footsteps, too.

Impressive changes, I really hope there's more changes to the gameplay than just this. Strike deku gets +40 damage and +10 DP per alpha, strong tech shiggy and nagant nerf, I love it.

His gamma? He has 3 ammo at level 9 and it has zero down power. He can absolutely chain it.
I was once beamed to death by a Shinso spamming his gamma to stunlock me while his Shoto and Deku turned me into Swiss cheese.
That was before the down power changes to alphas, so it wouldn't be a TOD anymore, but you could still get hit by 3-4 alphas during the stunlock and it would still hurt a lot.

If you mean his special action, he generally can't use it multiple times in a row. There are a few exceptions where the ammo for it won't be consumed, but that's generally if it gets blocked by a move (not blocked by terrain) or I think if it hits an enemy and puts them into hard knockdown instead of stunning them because their down power was too high already.
In any case, if his special action successfully stuns, it always consumes the ammo once the stun wears off.
