Here's the track for the Belmont Stakes. Going to be 2100m Medium Dirt Left Spring. Weather and footing will be determined by the day.

OGURI HAS WON 2 CROWNS SO FAR. Will she win again? Will she fail? Only (you) can influence her winning.

FYI I'm probably not running any of the Friday G1s, going to be at work most likely when they happen, unless I go super early or whatever.

I figure since it's a new bread and it's been a few hours I'll repost the link to the tier list of your most anticipated unreleased uma. Feel free to interpret the list how you like, this really just a measure of how much you're looking forward to an uma coming to global, whether it be for gameplay purposes or story/character interest. The list will be up for around 9 more hours and you'll need to place every uma to submit your vote.
Voting closes at 6:00 AM PST sharp. Chrono has maintained a solid lead for a good amount of the tier list's voting period, though early on CB and Machan were dominating. Poor Bamboo and Biko. A good sample size so far.

in terms of the general population, every american knows about the derby. people over the age of 30 who also live on the east coast are likely to have heard about the belmont and preakness. nobody who isn't a fan of horse racing has heard of any race other than these, including the entire concept of the breeder's cup. but people who live in cities that still have significant race tracks will know more than the general population.

somehow the game gave me two parent lines, one for mile and one for medium. both with groundwork + ignited spirit wit + 8/9* blue + 8/9* distance
>Thoughts on Fronts not being meta in the future?
they'll permanently be good because of LOH. also once they're "shit" for CMs countless anons will surely call me a soulful oshigamer instead of the usual soulless metanigger

Front was one of the first styles that interested me, long before I knew anything about the meta. Suzuka and Maruzensky were some of the first 3 stars I got, so I figured I would make use of them in the first Taurus.

I did pretty poorly as I had no idea how to use them, Seiun Sky also wasn't out by then. When Seiun did roll around, I was also an idiot who didn't know how to save so became a Seiunlet, just not a vocal one.

I wasn't really that serious about the game, but figured I'd try a number of styles out. So I flip flopped between a ton of umas. Once I learned how to build fronts properly with groundwork though I found them to be quite comfy. Learning how to build a runaway that could actually win was really interesting. Eventually I picked up Seiun on the character banner as I really enjoyed her as a character, as I do a lot of the other fronts like Maruzensky, Suzuka, and Falco.

I've tried other styles and had moderate success. And I still intend on using them here and there. But since I have to lean into one style eventually, I'll try fronts as it's what feels right. If it gets harder, that's fine. I can always jump ship to a different style if it stops being fun. I'm gonna try to play a couple different ways. For the time being I dont mind being seen as a metafag. The boogieman will switch to something else once fronts aren't as dominant, but from what I know they're still pretty competent, just take a lot of investment with cards.

I'm used to the grind and my parents are a little outdated since MANT started, but it's comfy to me. I hope to make a new borrow-worthy Seiun before MANT is over, so I'll keep running her as an ace and maybe a good one will come out of it.

I have never gotten a single 9* parent of any kind, but then again I only do the bare minimum necessary of parent runs per CM.
>Thoughts on your favorite style possibly being better in the future?
Ends are already good and paces are just going to keep getting better. Because my Oshis are unironically Maru and Oguri (and CB when she comes out) I get called a metafag either way so it doesn't matter to me.

It's probably not as good as people say and more "there are a lot of really good trainees that happen to run like this" which won't actually help me, but I will roll for the cards anyway because I do enough mutating for Dirt and Sprint CMs to ignore style switching wholesale at this point
>>

Yeah it's a shame. She was my first 3* I pulled and I fell in love with her personality instantly. I tried running her in early CMs and had middling success, but the grind to get groundwork sparks (this was pre Falco patch) and to get three greens every run, along with all the other skills you need, made me just dislike building fronts. I've also had to give up on some other umas I was looking forward to and then later found out they were fronts like Ace and Tap Dance.

as a part-time front bro this really isn't true. Yes there is a little bit of set up but once you have the nice set of parents it's fucking cozy building aces. I get distance S and groundwork reliably. I guess now everyone wants the fast learner high roll and feel like they need DD + PP/ignited wit combo as well since the arms race for the lead has gotten so competitive. Still, fronts are comfy to make once you have the right parents + borrow because they tend to win most of their races in careers unlike backliners which are much more likely to get blocked and lose.

There have been CMs where I spent literally 1-2 runs making a front and they won like 50% of my races. Then i'll spend 20 runs trying to make a shit late or something and they can barely win at all. Late bros know what I'm talking about.

>inherited xoguri ult is a .1 accel like inherited plancha
On the weaker side, but if it activates IMMEDIATELY for late race, I can see why fronts or maybe other styles might want it over something like say, NY Opera. Still, Xoguri is gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with.
>>
>>2547159
>Why do you run that style?
My oshi runs Pace/Late and I enjoy seeing come from behind wins instead of hoping to not see it slip away, but being a million miles behind isn't as neat + the camera doesn't show position jockeying back there often so meh on Ends
>Do you have cracked parents by now?
Yea, I've got a couple that are pretty strong, and taking the time to breed Ignited PWR onto my bloodline was honestly the difference maker for the previous CM I think
>Thoughts on your favorite style possibly being better in the future?
I'm looking forward to not being so heavily incentivized to make mutants regularly, and also for Fronts to have to actually think about room comp for accels and skills like everyone else does since Runaways are gonna be the new Fronts but at least they pay a hefty stam tax for the privilege and if there's multiple, they're very likely to eat each other and die.
>>
>>2547202
Groundwork alone is like a quarter of a front's full power. True front chads also have PP/DD/ISW/THH/PTO/Slipstream on their parents, pray for greens and TTL, and THEN start worrying about distance skills. Don't forget your distance S!
>>
>>2547202
>but once you have the nice set of parents
That right there is the crux of the issue for me. I find it easer to build winning paces (sometimes) and ends with sub-optimal parents than fronts with sub-optimal parents. Fronts would take me forever to build, meanwhile because the skill requirements for ends is much less intensive, it takes me far fewer attempts to make a usable ace. I'm willing to believe what you say is true, but it all goes back to what I said initially, there are other things I'd rather be doing than spending a ton of time creating the best front parents and then front aces.
>>
>>2547211
Yea, I'm probably just gonna use XOguri, oshi, and a dominator and call it whatever, especially if I don't feel like redoing the first two with Throne
>>
>>2547214
unironically a lot of that stuff comes easy with good parents or even just a solid borrow, not to mention hints from careers in MANT.

A lot of fronts have some of those skills built in naturally as well. I just don't find it that hard to get most of that stuff. If you're missing one or two of the "must haves" outside of groundwork, you can make up for it in other ways. Distance S also shouldn't be a problem if your parents are decent.

I'll repeat it as many times as it needs to be said but having full MANT lineage on your borrow and your current parent, that includes grandparents, is crucial. It will make things so much damn easier I'm not joking. Yes you will still have bad runs. I'm just saying from my experience, I'm not even a full-time front trainer. I didn't put in insane prepwork. It is literally more carefree and easier to build them than other styles which take me far more time, are far more likely to get bricked in their own careers. Fronts are just comfy, don't know how else to explain it.
>>

So, Europals! I've got a question: Do you know your culture's own customary units? And if you do, which units do you think would be ideal to measure a race course?
>>
>>2547194
No, I'm a Frontfag and it's garbage advice no matter what, I don't think anybody that cares about Fronts should ever listen to Witgod anymore because he has no idea what the fuck he's talking about.
You can get enough Speed, Power, Wit and Stamina by just running 2 Speed, 2 Power, 2 Wit. You don't need to sacrifice your SP for useless heals.
Buying 3 heals for Maru is retarded as fuck, the combo is garbage because the odds of it working are trash, you're effectively wasting like 300 SP to get nothing for around half your races.
It is like gambling on TTL, Focus and DD to proc Groundwork. You would never do that on a Front, so why are you gambling on 3 heals and an inherited unique to proc?
And lastly if you're not in first, or at the least very close behind 1st by the time the late race starts, you're not winning with a Front anyway. You are much better off getting more midrace and inheriting NYOpera for late race velocity instead of trying to make the retarded Christmas Oguri unique work
>>
>>2547202
That's because Fronts only need groundwork to get a decent lead, the ones fishing for PP/DD are just complaining they didn't get the high roll in their run. Most fronts won't have that combo, only the giga tryhards.

And I'm saying even those two things aren't that hard to get. Most good front parents have PP/Ignited wit hints. Falcon gets Prudent Positioning built in for free and she's one of the most busted fronts.

Technically that's the hardest front i've built, Smart Falcon, and even that is easier than some of the lates/ends/pace I've built.

Right now, if you were pressed for time, who do you think would be easier to build: Gutsmaxed Taishin or V. Bourbon?

That being said I will say that Golshi has always been pretty comfy for me and won me plat a couple times with very little effort so she is VERY based for that, and it seems I'm not alone in this as she won the "most plats" award for /v/ma by a pretty wide margin.

People are also forgetting about Taishin's HORRIBLE fucking mood down event in Ura/Unity, and people still tolerated with that. MANT spares you from that humiliation ritual, but man is it a fucking pain in the career. Even now, gutsmaxing is a bitch and fronts don't have to worry about that.

People win with Front Daiwa all the time and it's not like she's broken. Fronts are just strong. Anybody can train a Daiwa.

This is a good point. While a lot of the more niche borrows are taken (trying to find a good Falco turf seiun in particular is pretty tough, reminder to self to try and make one myself), there is still a ton of good shit out there and like I said before, a lot of them are loaded with the ones you want like Tail Held High, Prudent Positioning, Dodging Danger, Ignited wit, left-handed, right-handed, all the good stuff is out there, groundwork everywhere.

I find that hard to believe if you're scrambling last minute like this. Anyway I don't wanna bicker with you or give you a hard time. Now you understand the work that it will take to make a good Falco, start EARLIER next time and try to have a plan so you're not scrambling last minute like this again, it's no fun. Anyway I know parent making sucks, just take it on the chin. I hope you do well regardless even if you can't get the perfect Falco you want. Even without Mile S, she can still do quite well. Just do your best.

I paused a run once due to being distracted to dumb stuff, bought carrots when all my guys were at max affinity, and then did it AGAIN because I forgot. All because I wasnt paying attention. Stupid stuff like that yeah. I don't believe in multitasking. It's not like Ura where you just spam blue balls or training. You have to actually think about what you buy and if racing makes sense.

I will do it with stuff on in the background but I'm not giving it my full focus. Most of the focus is in the game. If I focus on what's in the background, whatever is happening in the game will suffer for it. Everyone says they can multitask but I don't really believe them, SOMETHING is taking the backseat.

Nishino has horse strength which means she wouldn't be too much of a pushover against Kid Goku but still I imagine her getting stat-mogged. Having said that, Goku only knows meme ass martial arts like what looks to be Kung Fu and Nishino Flower seemingly knows a bit of judo if we go by that clip so she has an advantage in knowing real martial arts. I still give it to Kid Goku, he's too much of a powerhouse he can simply stat check her ass.

That's only because I don't have Mile S, I started with enough time, also I wanted to make an End because my Fronts kept getting raped by them

Mileage may vary going from person to person I guess. When I give the game my full attention I typically end up getting dogshit anyway so I figured I might as well just play it while doing something else. Now it's pretty much the only way to play it for me. If I don't have anything to watch then I just flatline, but on the flipside I'd be the top earner of my club if I'm currently binging something.

>Goku only knows meme ass martial arts
Bro it clearly works in the show this is a stupid ass angle to take. Working with Roshi Goku learns to fire energy blasts.

When we say "kid goku" it can mean a lot of things, and he actually jumps up in power multiple times. But once he meets Roshi, he learns how to ape his Kamehameha, and then becomes his student. Once Goku enters the first martial arts he's already almost stronger than Roshi is technically the strongest martial artist on the planet basically, by a huge margin.

I'd say Nishino would probably whoop Goku's ass pre-Roshi, back when Goku was basically living as a homeless bum tagging around with Bulma and Yamucha.

I mean, they are as strong as a horse if you scale them up without also making them stronger. It's just that you've now put the full horse-power in a smaller package, so what used to be a long leg going 55 miles per hour is now a fist accelerating to 55 miles per hour on a short arm.
>>
>>2547323
I was referring to pre-Roshi Goku actually, by that point he already seems way too strong. Before Roshi does any training on him he moves gigantic rock that even Roshi himself struggled with and that I don't imagine any uma being capable of moving.

Its easy for me to imagine Nishino trying to land an o-soto gari throw or some shit while Goku just stands there, too firm to be even slightly off balanced. Chapter 1 he kills a pterodactyl with ease by smashing him with his stick once (once)

Goku loses to YAMUCHA early on, the biggest jobber in the show. It's a shounen so he actually started out pretty weak. He gets strong relatively fast but Nishino could probably beat him up if it was very early on.

Goku didn't really get superman level strength until like way in Z. His power stayed pretty grounded for most of Dragonball. Even learning to fly wasn't something they did until they met Tien later on.
>>
>>2547334
Nishino beats him only if he's hungry and tired. Goku later eats a bit and proceeds to beat Yamcha easily because the first time he was hungry and for Goku this is a major debuff.

I do remember that being a massive fucking rock but like I said, apparently Princess is so strong that she can smash a boulder that's huge enough to completely block a path. They do that in the first wedding event.

>Chapter 1 he kills a pterodactyl with ease by smashing him with his stick once (once)
The thing is even a regular horse can kill another horse with one kick and they're 500 pound animals. Umas are stronger than that. Golshi could likely kill a dinosaur with a single dropkick as well. She just holds back for her trainer.

Princess does have a very decent chance, maybe all of the more combat oriented or brutish umas really. It also depends on what universe it happens though.

If it's in the umaverse then I guess Goku is as strong as in the original manga but can't powerscale as hard, whereas if its an uma in the DB world then maybe she can also train and level up her powerlevel to unthinkable degrees, or learn magic (reminder that Dragon Ball has magic entirely unrelated to the powerlevel system, like that one dude that can turn people into carrots. Or Devilman)

Okay first off, treat Goldship as the wild card. She's got bullshit powers that let her do basically as she pleases in later events. If Goldship wanted, she could ACTUALLY move the sea of Okhotsk to Tracen Academy.
Secondly, at some point you have to pretend that the later events basically are off doing their own thing anyways. It's like comparing the first half of DB to DBS, it's ridiculous. Like, what the fuck do you mean there's god Ki and that Goku can apparently just channel it at will?

I'm too lazy to go through and check out her ult animation to see what exactly the equation is, but it looks reasonably coherent. Something as a function of t, presumably time, being equal to something else as a function of time because I'm not at all sure what rb is supposed to be, but v0 is initial velocity. I'm a chemist, not a physicist, but it all checks out.

>>2547415
Maybe it's just my buger education, but I'm more familiar with d for distance since r is so commonly reserved for angular equations since radius. The second equation to me a little strange to have distance being a function of itself, it should be something like r(t) = r0 + v0*t, but rb isn't a notation I'm familiar with again, especially to have it as a variable dependent on time is a tad strange.

Second equation is open to interpretation.
It's not a staple equation you'd see in the quick references of a textbook.
I guess it's something like position r(t) is some base frame of reference + some constant velocity applied over a period of time.
Like if r_b(t) is motion around a curve and v_0*t is some displacement to overtake someone, then r(t) is the real position over time.
She does seem to be modeling coming out of the fourth corner in her animation.
>>
>>2547433
>>2547429
Oh yeah it's modelling velocity as a function of starting velocity times time v0*t, so it IS a variable, my bad, rb(t) could just be another way of calling position at t-1 maybe?

I could see that, distance at a time being equal to expected distance at a time plus an additional velocity component. rb being distance(base) so you'd essentially have distance being equal to the normal v1*t + .5 * a *t but with an additional v2*t component which would allow you to solve out for how much additional velocity you'd need to achieve a gain of a certain distance. Kind of a dumb way to go about it and massively overly simplified, but for a unique animation, it's got enough math to flash on a board to get the point across.

Youre incorrect in that you think it's showing a top speed, it's not. >>
>>2547466
Yea, but v0 isn't a variable, and v(t) wouldn't be equal to v0*t since that's just distance. v(t) would be v0 + a * t
>>
>>2547444
That's what I meant by a frame of reference. The part really open to interpretation is what motion r_b(t) is supposed to represent. My guess, if anyone really put any thought into the equation, is the motion that traces the ideal path around a corner.

>>2547435
A subscript 'b' usually means 'base'
"position over time is equal to some base position over time plus some velocity times time."
Basically, use some other person's position as a base point of reference, and it's saying "my position is that person's position plus some term v_0*t."

No anon it's not weird when you model it on the assumption of biwa overtaking brian specifically, let me explain, Suppose rb(t) is the motion of some reference object (which in this example we'll assume it's runner B, Brian) Then: r(t)=rb(t)+v0t means to take the reference trajectory and add a constant drift velocity because runner A's position is being expressed relative to Runner B's position plus an additional term that grows linearly with time. Though again, this is a very fantastical assumption.

Programming is nowhere near as math intensive in real applications, especially with everyone and their uncle vibe coding this shit these days. Not that I would recommend doing that because it's not really good practice. Advanced math is neat but it has very specific applications, it depends on what you're doing.

Advanced math offers paths to optimization, and just kind of knowing what the hell you're doing. Computers are all math. Sure, it's base 2 math, but it's all math.

I'd say a sufficient amount of time has passed, so I'll repost the link to the tier list of your most anticipated unreleased uma. Again, feel free to interpret the list how you like, this really just a measure of how much you're looking forward to an uma coming to global, whether it be for gameplay purposes or story/character interest. The list will be up for around 4 more hours and you'll need to place every uma to submit your vote.

Voting closes at 6:00 AM PST sharp. Gentildonna has taken a surprising lead and Bamboo and Biko are still stuck in C tier. I got to be honest I was not expecting such a large sample size. I might put in one more reminder an hour before voting closes.

Sure, but the compiler does most of the heavy lifting for you. You're not building your own compiler are you son? And are you writing your own physics engine?

To optimize things you don't necessarily need to be a wizard either. It's good to enjoy programming. There will need to be good programmers to clean up the code of shitty vibe-coded applications. They gotta call in people who know what they're doing and clean it up, code jannies if you will.

Math is good but knowing math won't necessarily make you a good programmer is all I'm saying. Having the basics down will definitely make it more straightforward and you'll probably be able to figure out lots of fun tricks you can employ on your own use your natural intuition. But a lot of it is also reading documentation, problem solving and sometimes thinking outside the box, it's not always so pretty as a clean math equation either. You can get away with a lot of bullshit and have it still run. It's always changing though. If you have fun just give it a try and build your own applications/games whatever it is, and that will look good if it's ever a career you wanna pursue.

I am undertaking the task of writing an umamusume fangame for the IBM PC 5150 1981 model, aiming for the 16k of RAM variant. This is solely for the love of the game.
I have to write a whole bootloader in assembly, and I will continue to write EVERYTHING in assembly. There will be no compiler assistance, mostly because there's no way in hell I'm going to even be able to tell OpenWatcom or GCC what the fuck I need it to do to achieve any of this.
I do shit like this a lot to try to keep my skills sharper, which is why I get frustrated when I run into roadblocks because I don't understand the math behind things.
(If this project gets beyond the OS, I'll definitely begin posting updates somewhere on this site. The project started out really simple and spiraled out of control the MOMENT I realized DOS wouldn't boot on 16k of RAM, but I'm committed on the dream that I can get it to work on the least RAM possible.)

>To optimize things you don't necessarily need to be a wizard either.

It's "true" but it's in the very early stages. I'm currently writing a parsing utility to practice reading FAT12 partitions off of .img files, so that I can eventually automate img creation. I have DOSBox-X set up to guest-emulate this machine. I need to create img files to be able to test my project.
I know for a fact this tool will get done because it's incredibly useful for my future projects, and Minimal Operating Environment, the DOS substitute, will also get done for similar reasons, but I may run out of steam before I actually touch the game code. We'll see. It's slow progress anyways, so I'll update you when progress happens.

Anon, I don't know what to say. You're out of my fucking league! I'm just a lazy, practical programmer who just wants to use it as a tool to achieve my means in the simplest, most effortless way possible. But I have respect for the people like you who have a grand vision.

Unfortunately I doubt any AI can help you with some of the esoteric shit you'd have to deal with. You basically need to be a savant to dig deep in foreign waters in low level stuff like that. You're already on the path to becoming a master I'd say, I am not worthy to give you any kind of advice. I have my own dreams to make a game, and I do plan on making a simple 2D engine but right now to save time, I'm actually using already made ones. I want to actually release a game, I am extremely lazy, so I gotta just force myself into making something or I'll regret it later.

I'm going to be doing my best to try and optimize things in whatever way I can, but optimization is usually what goes on towards the end of development, at least the low hanging fruit. A lot of the times optimization is put on the back burner is not because developers CANT do it, it's because the people in charge of the project don't want to spend the extra 1-3 months of dev time to polish the product and would instead release it in a raw state and let our much more powerful hardware overcome whatever limitations there are in the code.

In the past programmers actually had to come up with creative solutions to bring the most out of significantly weaker harder. So I respect you for doing that and would like to dive deeper into assembly code myself someday, but right now it's just a means to an end.

>midwit normie
If you're here, you're probably not a normie, and if you're a midwit, that means you excel at certain things that a normal intelligence individual wouldn't. So don't feel terrible!Actually the fact you call yourself a midwit probably means you aren't one. Midwits, unfortunately, kind of get blinded by their own success.

>>
>>2547702
I don't think they accounted for players abusing their trainees by running 40+ races. Sure, it's hectic as fuck but it also happens to be the most optimal way to make aces
>>

I also participated in the Biwa discussion, however I don't have a math degree, my biggest math studies came from a Master's that I will say did dive pretty deeply into many of the important mathematical subjects, however, I still feel a bit out of my league and outclassed compared to my mathematician peers. I have always wanted to practice more to become actually good but I feel like I'll never do it due to how I manage my time, also I barely use it in my current job so I might forget everything

I thought all the JP doomsaying was going to be 100% accurate, so I ended up actually being pleasantly surprised by MANT when it wasn't quite as bad as people had made it out to be (though it's still not great don't get me wrong)
Apparently MANT was a lot worse in JP because it lacked some of the basic QoL stuff we got in global, so I can definitely understand why JPbros hate it so much and why their explanations of it sounded even more horrible than the version we've had to deal with

Tbf big game developers aren't immune to failing UI design. I've watched Firaxis, the civ game developers, fuck up that one thing that gamers will look at 100% of the time in their recent installments. Likely it's lack of communication b/w the playtesters (who did not go hard on races vs the players) and whoever's given the greenlight to change shit up

>>
>>2547728
yeah, you have to find good textbooks though, there are a lot which do a poor job to explain their working or don't do it at all, or assume foundational knowledge in an other area of physics/maths/engineering, the latter problem is less of a problem in the middle of a uni course as you're being supplied all that other info but individual learning is harder. Plus its hard to find motivation when you aren’t making something, at least coders can boot up a script or something.

I mean, I'm not going to say that it's impossible for a big(or really ANY) company to fuck it up, but it's ridiculous every time it happens because it's one of the most avoidable things out there. Especially when the UI is lacking basic game mechanics. Layouts and bad graphic design are forgivable, but things like bulk-buying are mechanics that are way less forgivable.
>>
>>2547731
Based on these rooms, at least those Ive join them and there’s been quite a lot, I think a lot of anons will do well. Obviously dont get cocky after day 1, but then again even an 80% win rate can job finals to the worst shitma imaginable due to bad luck. It is what it is.

My feeling though is
>No! We are much stronger. We WILL win, we HAVE TO, there’s no way we can lose we’re that strong!

RB is short for Race bonus, stat that some cards have, affects how much skill points and stats you get from a race. For MANT the staple is to have a total of 50% Race bomus across your deck. Though since youre new you shouldnt stress about it much.

https://www.tiercast.app/list/v1ty015i/vote

I said I'd put one last reminder in an hour before the voting period ends so here's the link one last time to /vm/a's most anticipated unreleased uma tier list. Feel free to interpret the list how you like, again this is just a measure of how much you're looking forward to an uma coming to global, whether it be for gameplay purposes or story/character interest. The list will be up for only one more hour and you'll need to place every uma to submit your vote.

Chrono has secured her top spot again in the homestretch; let's see if she can keep it and truly become the face of /vm/'s most wanted unreleased uma.

Huh weird I thought I sent my reply earlier. Anyway.
As a new player, try to play in Aoharu and always try to cap speed as possible. Play more with 2~3 speed cards or with your borrows before trying to care much about wit.
Wit only really becomes necessary if you know or sure of what you're doing. Other than that, feel free to experiment for a while. It's one of the joy of previous scenarios and a new player.

I personally have a hard time believing it will be all that useful. You have to buy 3 recoveries and the skill itself for an accel that still has a greater than 1/4 chance of not activating at all. That's a lot of points that could be put into mid-race skills.
Maybe it will be okay for fast learner Ug monsters that already have all the mid-race skills offered.

Thanks! I worked on it over the course of three weeks. I made myself see through it til the end.
The whole thing is flat-shaded and done with one basic bitch brush, because I don't know how people do nice gradient shading digitally and I don't know what tools my program has. I got a little fancy with a gradient on top of the couch to make it not look too boxy and I found the perspective drawing aides though.
I think I need to keep challenging myself to try out different tools in future drawings.

And with that that, voting is now over! Thanks to all the anons that participated; I did not imagine this would get so many submissions, almost 100 votes were submitted. Congratulations to /vm/a's top five most anticipated umas:
1. Chrono Genesis
2. Gentildonna
3. Mr. CB
4. Aston Machan
5. Calstone Light O

I don't see a whole lot of discussion about Machan, so seeing her make the top five was pretty surprising to me. I really like her though so I'm glad to see other anons are interested in her as well. CBganada has been a powerful force, but at the end of the day /vm/a still bows to Chrono, now finish your borrows before reset. it still looks great even if it's done with basic tools, you've got the skill and only have stylizing left to do, just play around with a bunch of different brushes and try to make your own, I personally have one for sketching and 2 for lineart/rendering, a flat color brush and a shading brush, I'm still figuring out how to do fancy colors too but there's a lot of little tricks and tools to make it easier, I'd go into detail but this old ass site has like a 10 character limit, there's lots of useful videos on the topic though

from a fellow beginner that started out just a few months ago, practice the basics, practice the basics, practice the basics
>anatomy
>perspective
>shapes
it is extremely important you do even if it's the most boring part of it all, you need to have a good grasp on this. Try to do a 15 minute warm-up drawing poses or parts of the body you struggle with, or just random shapes in 3d, before you start working on a piece. Eventually it'll flow as easy as water and you'll spend a lot less time on fixing your own mistakes.
Try to keep it simple, most body parts can be done in just 3 or 4 simple confident strokes, try to avoid chicken scratching and overcomplicating stuff, eventually you'll develop your own style and little tricks to draw difficult parts (like eyes and hands) or perspective

Nta but I do them at work. Pic related, all pieces of paper scattered at my wagestation. All that tedious boring work does teach you how to think in 3d better. And being able to do more complex shapes, organic shapes, etc, help you draw anything in the long run
5-10 boxes in a day is nothing. Over a year that's more than 1500 boxes. You don't have to draw 100000 boxes before starting to draw. It's just about the mileage, eventually you get there. It's also good to start a drawing session just warming up and doodling some shapes, textures, etc. I find it does help my art come out better.

Just finished using my daily borrows, out of the five only 1 made it to the end. Why does the game hate me for trying to use my favourites? I need to get this off my chest.

I refuse to care about plats anymore. Every CM, every single fucking CM is the same exact story. First I may prepare some acceptable parents, This is painful but it works. Along the way I sometimes get S aptitudes. Then I start working on aces. While experimenting with deck comps I produce some early candidates. Most of these will have distance S. Then once I've found a good build I re-check my borrowed parent in case I can find an upgrade, then I start churning out real aces. Sometimes they lowroll and sometimes they get agemasen'd, but most of the time the result is reasonable. Except. They NEVER EVER have distance aptitude S. It doesn't matter what my theoretical odds of getting it are, it doesn't matter that I already got plenty of distance S runners previously with the same or worse setup, now that I'm doing real attempts the game simply will not allow me to get the skills I want, the stats I want, and distance S.
That's been the case this CM, where I am about to submit a team of all Mile A racers, it was the case last CM, and it was the case the CM before that. If I sacrifice an absurd amount of time to grind attempts, it has happened before that I do get a real ace with distance S after more than a week's worth of attempts. And how do I get rewarded for that in the finals? Rushed, wit checks failed, PDM'd behind a blob. My best and strongest ace that I put the most time into will do absolutely nothing in finals and some shitter with less stats, fewer skills, and a barely funtional build will win with a lucky Radiant Star proc.

So you know what? I'm done with this horseshit. When John Cyjew himself has decided I shall never be allowed to win another plat then there's no reason for me to even try. I will throw together half-assed teams to barely crawl into A finals and not even think about plat, and I will be happier for it.
John Cyjew can choke on horse cock.

It's not a parent issue. You either live an easy life not caring about CM/PVP in exchange for pulling Umas that you like or sacrifice the umas you wish to pull for in exchange for being able to have a fighting chance in CM/PVP by pulling for important support cards. Only whales have the luxury of choosing both. If not being able to train your umas properly makes you unhappy then your only option is to either limit your uma rolling for stockpiling support cards or accepting that you will always fall behind if you choose to reject support cards.

it "saved the game" in JP where people are much more invested in umas than in the competitive side of the game. /v/ma is the complete opposite to that as this thread has proven since most of us have turned into soulless metaniggers over the course of 10+ months, so no, it won't save us. Competitive GL is almost as bad as MANT
>>
>>2548919
I think casuals and less competitive trainers will enjoy GL from a jp player perspective. It's relatively easy and painless to pump out really good aces if you have the cards and there's very little time wasted.

I can explain why R light hello kinda sucks, the way light hello works is that you get lots of tokens for the one you have the least when you train with her. She also reduces your energy cost so more trainings, gives you training effectiveness and she gives you golden playtime's over at the end of career. The R Doesn't do any of this.

No proble i don't mind answering any questions. The way GL works is that it's a mix of "the best" of unity and the shop of MANT. Each training will give you of five tokens. Which can be used in the shop (permanent and doesn't reset until you buy something) to be able to buy songs (which will give you permanent buffs to the run like +1 speed gain on all training, +5% rainbow modifier, + specialty priority, etc) or direct stats/buffs. Light hello is there as the glue that holds the shop together because anytime you train with her she gives you a ton of tokens of the type you have the least.
>>
>>2548931
Now do a poll for which umas you've fapped to at least twice.

You remember how aoharu had showdowns with other teams? GL has them too. These are a lot less RNG, you are guaranteed to have a great success in the promotional lives as long as you fill up the hype bar. And to do this you only need to buy 3 songs at most. If you can't fill up the bar you just won't snowball as bad so it's not recommended to continue. You'll be going two years without permanent bonuses like "+10% that all support cards finish their chains" and other huge buffs.

I did once like a decade ago, and the reason she's still single is because of that. Studied arts or something, so she wouldn't have been able to pay for it with her income, and her dad, an executive at some multinational company, used to pay for it, along with some other posh hobbies and classes. Well she still rides horses, and eventually that monthly expense will be transfered to the fiance/husband. And she has lived riding horses for like 20 years now, so it was non negotiable, it's literally part of her identity.

I dated her when we were stupid teens so it was a non issue back then, and I'm not going to say that she was crazy or anything. Honestly it was fine. But yeah. The one who marries her has to include the horses in the monthly expenses.

She had pretty developed core, back and thigh muscles though. I think she mogged me. But "mog" wasn't a word back then.

Sorry for the normalfag blogpost but I thought it was relevant

I do some shitty art for the thread so I'm a bit biased, but no one here does it as a job, so this "its taking jerbs" side of things is kinda moot.

My main problem with slopping is that it's completely effortless. So even if you can have good sloppa, what most likely happens when it's socially allowed, is that the thread gets filled with midwits posting shitty gens all day, and thinking themselves Picasso while posting the most mid AIslop ever. They don't have the skills to know it's shit, and they dismiss all criticism as "jealousy". It's very jarring to see, and only leads to thread degradation. See the /vg/ thread and what happened with the scat schizo back in /v/.

This culture of putting in the effort and making OC is much healthier. Even if the result is shit, just trying and developing a skill and watching it flourish through the months is way more satisfactory, both for the artist and the other posters. Makes sense too with how much the series values effort and dedication in the girls stories.

I also don't want to turn this thread into a culture war hub. If I see a stray AI image here and there I say nothing, there's no point, and when someone starts spamming shitty AI coomerslop other people already denounce it too. I think thats fine. Some AI images can be pretty impressive, and I don't think having a melty whenever someone posts one would lead to a better thread.

I chose the artistic hobby long before I got into programming and I am trying to use AI as little as possible as I don't want it to make me worse/reliant on it.

Technology is cringe for the most part anyways. Artistic hobbies are actually fulfilling to the soul. Programming, not so much. Not saying it can't be fun or that there isn't "artistic expression" in writing code but it's a lot more formulaic.

I guess it depends on what you're making code for. But if you're doing it for some corporation, really where is the soul in that?

You had a eureka moment and there is satisfaction from solving a problem after being stuck for so long. But you were probably banging your head against the wall in the weeks prior to that moment.

You can get burned out from that kinda stress. I don't get that kinda stress when I play guitar, that's all I'm saying. Coding has never made me feel ethereal. Just high/stressed out. But maybe I'm just not on that level yet. There is expression in it, just like there's expression in being a writer. Hell you could make your own far out programming language and go full LISP or whatever. But at the end of the day you're just giving a computer instructions. WIthout the computer, what would it be?

But a painter, or a musician, or even a stage performer doesn't really need any specific tech to do what they do. You can sing, you can scribble on cave walls. You don't need some kind of machine to do it or enact it. Pure human expression. Most of it can be done without electricity as well if you wanna talk actual musical instruments, painting, and so on.
>>
>>2549406
Trainer is entirely absent from events
>>
>>2549409
it might simply be differences in our points of view because i've definitely gotten stressed out when playing guitar lol but part of what makes it satisfying is overcoming a seemingly impossible wall after days or weeks of banging my head against it

Making a living as an artist is truly hell though. You have to be in like the top 1% of the country to get a consistent gig, provided you can even find an orchestra that has a slot open for your instrument. You gotta do something in the off seasons, usually teaching. Singing is even more transient and pays even less. Hell some of the best choirs here you end up having to pay for to be in. Soloists have to find symphonies or operas and audition to do a few nights of work and then move on to the next one in a completely different part of the country.
It is not a luxurious lifestyle which is why I deliberately didn't pursue it as a career and went to be a salaryman instead even though I loved it in high school and college.
t. Band/choir kid
>>
>>2549415
Guitar is like that a lot at first, but I found once I got over the beginner's hump, it's always been a soothing activity for the soul. Playing music with others, playing music on a stage, getting praise for your efforts. Recording music. To me there's much more to be experienced from music, as well as listening to music I get a lot more enjoyment than I do reading somebody else's code. I just don't consider coding an art. It's machine instructions. It's not the same as art or music, even if there is an art to it if that makes sense.

Music was always there for us long before computers ever existed, and it will continue to be there for us even if all the computers were to become inoperable. Same thing goes for drawing, writing, and other things.
>>
>>2549423
But we were talking about artistic hobbies, not necessarily trying to make living out of art. I do agree though it's very hard or near impossible to make it as say a musician these days. You basically need to be rich.

So it's better as something done as an activity with yourself or friends on a local level, something you do for fun. It's not meant to be a job in my opinion, but if you can find a way to entertain other people you might be able to make some money from it.

You could be a salaryman and be a musican at night time, some of the most influential musicians of all time had double lives like that. Wagie during the day, rocker at night. It's harder and harder to make it as one though.

I sing and do this stuff and sometimes play and bands because it's fun, nobody really has to pay me to do it. It feels good to do it on a level that other things don't feel good, so I'll keep doing it. If I didn't have something like this, I'd be a much more miserable person. I imagine a bunch of drawfags probably feel similar. Having some kind of creative hobby just is good for the soul imo. I'd recommend it to anyone to pick up an instrument or start drawing or start writing or hell start dancing. There's more to life than waging and just consooming anime and video games. I mean you can do that too, there's no shame in that. But it's not fulfilling to the soul. Just my $0.02, way too off topic so I'll shut up now

I'm this close to buying a good enough camera and leaning photography myself.
I just want to be able to make something instead of only consuming.

It's a numbers autism manager with VN elements. It's a blast if you like grinding and managing resources for bigger numbers. Each horse also has a lot of content in their personal career stories and most of it is very well written. If you don't mind VN's it's definitely worth picking up at least to read some of the stories, since it's free anyway. Tachyon is also one of the easiest umas to acquire.

I used to go to /ic/ but it's so full of schizos and mentally ill people that I stopped. It's great to pirate art courses and books, but not much else. Radioactive board. Would need heavy moderation by someone interested in making the board better to recover.

If I don't make it to A round 2 for the first time this CM I'm quiting. I don't care if it's gonna screw over my club anymore

I go there to tell /beg/s they're never going to make it and tell /pro/s their art is bad

I went there when I was starting out but that place is so insanely miserable and unhelpful I didn't last a day, genuinely think listening to any advice there is the most surefire way to be stuck at your current level for the rest of time

it might really be her time

Here's the problem with that: making money.

If something is fun and fulling, chances are everyone else wants to do it too. I spent years taking care of horses in some manner or another and did it for free. Sometimes some money off it but very little. Only the really good can make a career off horses. So I knew I had to get a career elsewhere, which is adjacent.

Everyone has to make a living somehow, but once again if you're doing something for fun, chances are others are saturating it too. Unless you're autistic and find doing finances, programming, or something fun.

Well then he's kinda fucked
