Anyone going to be playing EQL? I tried to get into Everquest a few times in the very early 00's, but it never stuck, I was more of a UO guy. This one sounds fun though, they are making to be very solo and small group friendly, and you can do pretty much everything with one character (swap classes/races easily, like in FFXIV).
>>
Yes, looking forward to it.
>>
>>2665590
Based, what are you going to play first? I'm thinking Paladin/Cleric/Bard. Either a Froglok or a Human, depending on if I want to be a funny little frog guy or a cute girl. Might depend on the name I manage to reserve.
>>
Already have it downloaded, along with the ui grid program, and the map packs i like. Everquest was my first mmo and i have fond memories of it and the people (mostly) i met there.

You doing this for solo play or grouping? It seems like groups will be much rarer in this version of Everquest unless you put in work to make it happen.
>>
>>2668014
I'm mostly going to be solo, but I won't intentionally isolate myself either.
>>
What's a good combo, with bard, magician or necro? Kind of want to be a supporty caster dps with bars/enchanter
>>
>>2669393
Bards pair well with most things because they can just passively buff themselves, plus they give access to dual wield. I would suggest watching this video for a good overview of all of the classes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKGGN1X3yuk

This other guy goes over some good/bad combos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amJZ-htnw34

I'm playing it now, Pld/Dru/Mnk at the moment, my biggest issue is that without all of the early dungeons being revamped, it feels like you're almost being funneled into Befallen, and I guess Blackburrow? The loot in those areas in particular is phenomenal, arguably overpowered.
>>
It's been a nostalgia bomb everywhere I go. I hope they don't try to fuck us with the "micro"transactions.
>>

Not just 1, but 3 troons. Imagine giving your money to a team of disgusting troons.
>>
>>2677394
It's an eerie feeling but I question how much pushback the community would actually have for it, the fact it's a sub-based game is already iffy. But I'd rather they keep the subscription than try and nickel and dime us, realistically I probably won't even play past the first "Free" sub month from the box price.
>>
>>2674734
TRVTH NUKE
I only see the most pathetic of boomers shilling this on youtube nonstop, all anti social style players.
>>

>>
>>2678914
I swapped from Pld/Dru/Mnk to Pld/Shm/Ber after getting to 25 and getting all the teleports I wanted, it feels way cleaner. Is a lot of your damage on that build primarily from being able to double-gear and buff pets?
>>
>>2665131
I played the beta. It gets pretty repetitive. There isn't anything to do other than kill kill kill, and sometimes you'll get a gear upgrade.
All the other incidental activities have been stripped from the world. Don't need to go to merchants, or the bank, or the market. You don't need to interact with anyone for services or help. No need to do any quest hustling, like with bonechips or crushbone belts.
It's a very narrow experience.
>>
>>2679918
I don't think the game will last very long content wise, even the "updates" to dungeons they have are just loot changes. And looking in chat, you can see all kinds of people who are either dumb as bricks or never played the game before asking why their Ogre can't easily get spells for classes they usually can't play.
>>
>>2679958
I caught the end of that stream. Someone had asked about quest itemization and the devs basically said "we'll see".
It's all so dumb.
I used to think poop sockers ruined the game, but now I realize it was the casuals who demanded the game change to suit them. I hate them.
I've always been a casual player. I never raided much. I just liked chilling in the world, trying out different camps and seeing what other players were up. I never had any expectation I'd get top tier gear, never wanted it either. But it was cool being a small part in a big world.
>>
>>2679972
A lot of it seems to burn the fire of some of the changes Quarm made, where it's going to be an EQ+ kind of things. The reality is that it seems to be a way for Secrets and the other people at Gamejawn to eventually nickel and dime the playerbase by adding MTX, since people are already ready to defend only having two "loadouts" when the game is meant to allow you have hundreds of combos.

The hypercasualization really is present from the tutorial as well, giving out Jbootsjr to every class.
>>
>>2680010
>lot of it seems to burn the fire of some of the changes Quarm made, where it's going to be an EQ+ kind of things
But even on Quarm, you still had to deal with certain realities. Coins had weight, you'd have to sell vendor trash to make money (and you can't origin so you are rewarded knowing local merchants)
You needed other players for key buffs. No OOC regen.
Just all the little things that added friction that felt rewarding to overcome, even though it didn't directly reward experience.
All those little things are lacking in EQL.
I think Quarm was probably the last opportunity to play something resembling EQ with a large leveling population, and I'm glad I was a part of it.
>MTX
I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of shit they pull with this.
>>2679972
>But it was cool being a small part in a big world
And to add to this, I'd rather never kill Nagafen than be able to kill Nagafen every week.
>>
>>2680060
It honestly feels like raids should've been left as group content, having an online game built around being entirely soloable feels awkward, and somewhat dishonest when it comes to being a game with a sub.
>>
>>2674993
That's exactly what's going on. Overland should have been given some love there especially after the dungeon exp nerf. They want people going everywhere in the game but only made a few worth going to other than for exploration purposes.
>>
>>2680305
I also think they put far too much stuff in Befallen, and that it'll make them being able to put worthwhile loot in other instances leading up to getting planar gear either infinitesimally small or just not worth getting. The power creep on gear is already insane, and it feels like it'll just get much worse.
>>
>>2678815
Everquest was made for antisocial retards. 90% of the community boxes instead of forming groups lol
>>
Trying out Iksar Monk/Cleric/Enchanter 'cuz Iksar was my favorite race and those were my favorite classes back when I played the original Everquest when I was a kid.
>>
>>2682422
I really regret not just starting Iksar
>>
>>2682620
But this is a beta where everything gets wiped. There is nothing to regret about whatever you try. Feel free to mess around. Me and my friend have both agreed that we'll be trying a bunch of different things across different rerolls. No point in getting attached to something that will get erased. For example, I have determined that playing Iksar without Kunark is suicidal so at launch I will play something else. I can change to Iksar later using those tokens or whatever.
>>
>>2682881
Playing Iksar without Greenmist is like going a day without beating a gnome to death

Having no placeholders in "revamped" dungeons makes going to other dungeons feel really weird, in that it almost feels like it reinforces that you'll get most of your gear doing Befallen/Najena because you can KNOW you're getting drops there.
>>
>>2692737
I liked the old PH system/camping and I really liked knowing if the mob had a particular weapon by seeing it. I presume the lazy upgrade system they introduced and the player-specific loot system are what got those removed. Kind of a bummer but I might be in the minority.
>>
>>2692839
Honestly, I get that there's "personal loot" but if it's personal loot it shouldn't differentiate with what the mob is holding in my opinion. I admit, I never played classic everquest, I've played P99 and Quarm, but even early on not having that feeling of seeing a skeleton with a cracked staff and beelining toward it for the cash feels weird.

I also don't mind the PH/Camping system, but I feel like they've set a really odd precedent with how revamped dungeons operate and it feels like they plan to eventually have that encompass the entire game. I think it's an overall bad change because people will have to go through lower level content over and over and it'll make it feel like you're getting less and less out of doing it because you're not going to get that lucky spawn, or that lucky drop.
>>
>>2692875
While we are complaining, let me add another: They're putting in a forgiveness system for Plane of Sky that will favor your current 3 classes over the ones you aren't using- as far as drops are concerned. I worry that will either cause balancing headaches or it's going to be a pain in the ass to get things for alternative setups you suck at but enjoy playing.

>revamped dungeons
I'd rather they added new dungeons/overland zones instead of mutilating the old ones, but I understand the laziness behind it. The loot concerns you have are substantial. I wonder what the detriment to the gameplay loop that's already handicapped by the limited content that is vanilla Everquest will end up being. Is everybody really going to grind their one character to full 50s classes? Can't be me.
>>
>>2692958
>While we are complaining, let me add another: They're putting in a forgiveness system for Plane of Sky that will favor your current 3 classes over the ones you aren't using- as far as drops are concerned. That sounds kind of shitty, considering the way to unlock other primary classes is by finishing their Sky quests. Or at least it sounds like it'd be shitty.

I also agree that a lack of overland play is weird, on the first day of the buy-to-beta it was full of people in /1 asking for their ogres or whatever to get group ported to Befallen. A version of Everquest that actively discourages exploration feels really out of place.
>>
>>2692737
I hate the revamped dungeons and gear. As the days go on I just think more and more than I want to get off Secrets' wild ride. I don't want to play tranny OC I want to play EQ, but like the version that I was playing that they took down and replaced with this shit.
>>
>>2693204
I think gear being as good as it is in Befallen is incredibly short-sighted and they're now afraid to nerf it because of community backlash. Even playing P99 I fondly remember getting my first set of banded gear and being so excited for that stat and visual change, having my character look like that much more an experienced adventurer. And Befallen shits out stuff that's magnitudes better than stuff that's ridiculously strong.
>>
>>2693214
Between the revamps and spell upgrades and loadout slots and inventory slots and character slots it's clear to me they have no idea wtf they're doing. It very much comes across as a bunch of disjointed ideas without any actual design behind them. I honestly don't think this will interest me past the first included month.
>>
>>2693226
I think with the loadouts and other things that are going to be shoved in as mtx/achievements that both "Game Jawn" and Daybreak overplayed their hand, but being that Daybreak has managed to keep games like DCUO up based around boomers paying for stupid dogshit I imagine they'll be able to keep the game afloat on pensions for a while.
>>
How have you guys been enjoying pet classes?
After finally getting access to Shm's it changed up my playstyle a bit. I was thinking on launch that I might want to go Brd/Shm/Nec because it's so often been better to tank up in evasive stance and let my pet do a little extra work while DoTs tick

The fact that they are limiting it to old school models already makes this superior to THJ. The fact that one of the THJ devs preferred new models always made it a schizophrenic mess to look at.

I think it was Broken Stoic who said it, but some streamer mentioned that the team wants to revamp Kunark's starting experience. I'm more worried about that than I should be- I love Kunark.
*edited to fix my retardation
>>
>>2704262
And why shouldn't you be worried about it? Have you seen what they are doing so far? People talking about getting fucking "befallen geared" to prep for endgame. It's rancid. I don't want to kill the same guaranteed spawns for dupes of the same guaranteed drops so I can merge them like a fucking phone game. Nothing about that is EQ to me. I'm glad that I think the game sucks otherwise I would be even more pissed off about the in-game shop. Having a fake currency at all is shit and charging $5 for a single loadout slot is shit. It's all shit. The revamps and custom content are exactly what Secrets was trying to do on Quarm before DBG shut that shit down. His ideas are just bad.
>>
>>2704433
I really don't see how they're going to actually put gear better than Befallen's in some of these areas since it seems like you're meant to go from Pristine Leather to Planar. I was excited to get a Ykesha from LGuk then realized outside of the proc (Which can be removed from it), it's not even that much better, if at all better than the weapons I'd gotten from a fucking level 25ish dungeon mob
>>

I knew nothing of Secrets and when EQL was announced I was warned not to trust the tranny. I see wisdom in those words now. secrets was known for making unblanced jank eqemu servers exactly like thj
eql is meant to be an officially monetized funserver and is probably the first ever mmo to do so
>>
>>2714988
THJ felt a lot less jank than EQL. It felt a lot more like EQ too, where you run around and explore and progress through stuff instead of nolifing it in a tiny number of revamped dungeons with completely fucked itemization. Even if they finish revamping the dungeons before launch (they won't), what is the point of the rest of the zones? You have no reason to do fucking anything in the actual world on EQL. Things can be fun if they're unbalanced jank but EQL isn't even that. It's just a bunch of systems thrown together incoherently. They put in a lot more work than the THJ devs for a much worse product which, ironically, is setting them up to put even more work in to keep things going because they've fucked things up so fundamentally. They're going to be expected to revamp more and more things and redo all itemization going forward.
>>
>>2715033
i think you're on crack desu
in thj you leveled in 4-5 good grind zones for your combo and then did raids

there was no reason to go anywhere(besides epic quests) unless you wanted to collect the waypoints and everyone zoomed through the lower levels so fast that you might as well have started at level 50

idk how you came to that conclusion at all, if anything EQL seems annoyingly insistent on having actual progression instead of getting 100+AAs per pull and full grinding your class in a day
>>
I'm going to play it. I never got to see Nagafen or Innoruuk or Cazic alive, despite being there when they were current.
Got death touched by dread and got half the book for Fiery Defender but when Gates of War came out everyone stopped playing.
Since I'm an old player I already know what I want to play. A paladin, but with stronger heals and stronger melee dps. So, cleric + melee with a caster as a third.
Once I've seen the sights I want to see I will unsub til next expansion because I'm not grinding up to +10 on crap.
Glad the game exist, community seems clueless and the wiki gives shitty info for raising factions. They removed velious newbie armor quest npcs but not velious armor quests etc so I'm going to complete as many epic quests as I am able.
I'm also going to put the sol ro iridescent wand on an Enc Monk for stunlock giggles.
I get it, the game is old and you're gonna have a lot of people that weren't born yet playing, but I remember having erp sessions in town and we all swore at each other pretty loosely.
I'm gonna be mad if I fat shame an ogre in Sol B because he wanted frontal stun immunity and didn't think about how most dungeons are mostly toilet paper tubes.
>>
*Be mad if someone sasses me for fat shaming them or worse, get banned for suggesting to lube the butterball
>>
F. Impressive run.
>>
>>2717331
>I'm going to play it.
I am too, but I'm not going to level up every class to 50. I'll stick to a few combinations I enjoy. If that means I have to create alts on different servers due to character creation limit then so be it. My favorite part of Everquest is experiencing foreign zones and the racial cultures through alting and I'm not buying character slots fuck that. Also to add to your ogre comment, I remember troll and ogre players heavily roleplaying for no reason in groups and finding it quite amusing. Those fatties were easily the most devoted to their characters.
>>
>>2715125
>in thj you leveled in 4-5 good grind zones for your combo and then did raids
Until they revamp more dungeons, EQL is incentivized to be just like this - especially because getting repeat items increases their power.
>>

Yippee
>>
>>2719426
I've been in Crushbone for multiple hours and never saw Dvinn once. That's all the reworking it needs is to bring back that bad mother fucker.
>>
Is this version of EQ alright for people who've never played? Would people even group even though you already have a lot of personal power, or is it a solo only server? I'd need someone to hold my hand for a little so that sort of determines if I'd even try playing or not.
>>
>>2719767
I'm sure guilds will prop up that are welcoming to new players, but EQL is really solo friendly it's true. Still, I do miss playing with friends doing things we probably shouldn't be able to, and EQL only encourages that type of thing because of the power fantasy it instills. I also have to mention this whole project is a memberberries situation with less shame and more cash shop. So be prepared for that.
>>
>>2719782
I don't mind it as long as it's not "Oh you didn't buy this? Sorry you're not welcome." If it's just random bits and bobs or cosmetics I don't really care that much. I'll have to give it a look. I played P1999 once and I didn't stick around because I had no one to play with.
>>
>>2719785
>P1999
That version is for the most part still in line with original EQ where grouping is required for a lot of the content. EQL is certainly not that. You can do all the content solo if you care to play the game like that. I myself would prefer to duo for funsies but it's certainly not required.
>>
>>2719792
Well I want to group but I went in by myself and really didn't see another person at all when I was outside attempting to kill things alone.
>>
>>2719785
>If it's just random bits and bobs
The game is designed around the need to buy those bits and bobs though. You only get two load outs. If you want more you have to buy them. If there is a way to unlock them in game, it will be grindy and limited. They have an incentive to design the game to push you to the cash shop instead of designing the game for satisfying gameplay
>or cosmetics
This is acceptable, if i can turn off all extra cosmetics on my end. I don't want to see the stupid shit other people buy because they think it looks cool.

Crushbone is a loot pinata now in the Befallen model. Are all dungeons getting this treatment?
>>
>>2723022
I think so. It would make sense for them to all get looked at.
I don't get the dungeon craze though. I checked out Crushbone and yeah each of the bosses drop a piece of gear but unless you think X dungeon is the coolest thing ever, I don't see why people aren't just hanging out in the world and then when you're ready for end game just crank all the baby dungeons to +4 and grab all the goodies you want with no stress
>>
>>2723229
Sounds like a really fun way to approach it. I could see myself doing something similar, and taking Druid and Wizard for reasons of exploration instead of power gaming.
>>
Is there any way to know what quests are worth doing without googling?
>>
>>2723229
The people who rushed to fifty definitely seemed to be running builds that would clear difficulty 0 quickly, it's not like the difference is that big while leveling when it comes down to being able to go in later to get stuff.
>>
>>2725339
The game isn't very upfront. You can pull procs off of weapons if you level them up, so I'd go and see what weapons have procs you like and collect them.
If I do enchanter monk I'm pulling the stun off of the temple of sol ro wand, etc.
>>
>>2726095
Honestly I think it's insane how little of the extra stuff in the game is explained, if anywhere that isn't in-game in chat or the discord.
>>
>>2726862
A lot of the stuff I know already because I played EQ 25ish years ago, but they added new stuff to Crushbone like a slave master key and a Sarialyin lute and I can't figure out what they're for.
It's good too in a way. When things are convoluted the herd doesn't catch on to things quick so it takes a while for things like the Paineel guards to get a faction attached to them etc.
One thing I noticed is they removed the Indigo Brotherhood hit from Crushbone so if you wanted you could do the orc pawn pick quest to raise your Indigo Brotherhood faction then kill in Crushbone to restore Elf and human warrior faction. Little stuff like that is possible now.
>>
>>2696441
I wouldn't mind newer models when Shadows of Luclin came out if not for the fact that it was such a half ass implementation back in 2001 where all the new player models looked stiff and hollow as fuck while much of the world was still using pre-Luclin model. It was and still is jarring as fuck looking at EQlive utilizing a mixture of pre and post luclin models together, especially in cities. That type of massive project should've been an expansion that should've been in the oven for 2 1/2 years before it came out.
And "schizophrenic mess" is probably the best way to describe it.
>>
>>2728053
They've already told players they won't be adding Luclin models, the entire game they're looking to "add" after Kunark is really nebulous itself. A lot of what they actually do add is going to make or break the game because I don't see anyone paying for this each month for a long time just to grind Sky and Planar gear to +10.
>>
>>2728053
>>2728063
You can enable Luclin models using GlobalLoad.txt, at least on the beta. It'll get overwritten by the patcher so launch with eqgame.exe patchme to bypass. Supposedly they weren't allowed to let players use them because they weren't able to license them from Daybreak.
>>
I was thinking that Brd and Shm might be good as free classes but I think the Knights might be better just because of how unlocks actually work, that or Warrior.

Ogres having full frontal stun immunity is also somehow more broken here.
>>
>>2729981
>Ogres having full frontal stun immunity
A lot of players/builds aren't using CC and are tanking a room of mobs at a time. Ogre is so very good in that situation. The AA Steadfast Will may make up for it, but I don't know how high it goes.
>>
>>2730075
Steadfast goes up to 80%, and ogres have a fuckton of Strength and the cap is so ridiculously high they still won't hit it, so as long as you have enough resources you can play the BIG RETARD smack around build.
>>
>>2728063
>>2729020
Sorry, I meant "I didn't mind the concept of newer models with Shadows of Luclin" as in when the expansion came out in 2001, not anything to do with this specific server.
Also am I the only one who felt that Velious's layout sucked and was too focused on dungeon chokepoints for most of the overland zones?
>>
I have a feeling players are going to really dislike how difficult it is to +10 not only gear but spells. Call people autistic, but not having a max item or spell will feel bad. 100% cash shop fix coming.
>>
>>2729020
I don't get why anyone would want Luclin models. They were never finished properly and are half assed. Especially ogre, troll and Iksar.
If your idiot races aren't scratching their asses, its over.
>>2730075
Steadfast will overrides everything that makes ogre special, does need shrink to navigate dungeons and lets you play a race that has sneak so you can use any vendor at any time without class juggling to rogue or monk. People going ogre for an advantage are being sold a boat for a shallow lake.
>>2730140
Yeah I remember when Velious was current I'd live in Iceclad Ocean, Tower of Frozen Shadow and Thurgadin because going any deeper was too risky for casual play.
>>
>>2730475
The amount of people who are piping up about how ready they are to do things like buy bags and AA potions means that enough of the community will ignore any slippery slopes and just keep buying stuff, that's kind of the daybreak MO from what I've played of their games, though. People continually go on about the game being in continual development as the reasoning for a subscription fee but the game will still subsist almost entirely off whales.
>>
>>2731720
I dunno, there's only so many bags and AA you can buy, and to be honest it feels like the only thing worth buying is that 50 slot bank bag.

I have seen this as well. Not only are they eager about making these purchases, they are announcing it with pride in an open forum as if they were the moral authority. As miser, it doesn't make sense to me. If only they were sock accounts being used by Daybreak to normalize this dumbfuckery. I'm going to misuse that Frenchman's quote, but hell is other people.

Fortunately I don't think anyone with at least a moderate level of internet savvy looks at reddit or discord as places of serious thought.
If the devs want to smell their own farts while bathing in the hubris of internet idiots, that'll be their chapter in this book of EverQuest.
On the other side I hope they're not going to be a bunch of 'We looked at the numbers and adjusted' like the Dead by Daylight devs that while they have a popular game, the community pretty loudly agree the dev team is not a great fit for the their game.
They're going to have to do something that even the live server EverQuest devs don't do..
Listen to the casual EQ player, that isn't going to be posting on forums or in game, of which there should be many due to the nature of Legends.
How? They better figure it out. Or like I said, succumb to hubris. I'm just going to enjoy what they put out and leave if the game becomes annoying, which I think is fair.

Unless you're Kojima or Shigeru Miyamoto etc, game devs hop around like crazy. If they do good, they'll get promoted, if they do bad, they'll get let go, but I doubt they'll just stay here on this project forever and ever.
At least you already know they're known for making promises like Elon Musk does. That means you can pretty much ignore them.

>>
>>2734783
I think the upgrade system throws a really big wrench into gearing in general that shouldn't exist, or at least not up to +10. The power creep they've set in place for how good gear will have to be a place like a revamped LGuk to then continue to overtake planes, which will need it's own revamp is silly. Gearing honestly should have been kept as it was in the base game and revamped dungeons feel more like a mistake the more they're implemented.
No placeholders is also going to hurt the game more and more going forward. The game will see a surge in revenue from people not wanting to unlock races/classes on release day to start "how they want" then nosedive after people get bored.
>>
>>2734989
This is basically my prediction; THJ numbers on launch quickly followed by a steep and steady decline
>>
>>2734989
All of the revamped zones would be cool if it was more widespread. But currently its just reducing the scope of the game down to a few zones. Upgrading is definitely amplifying that, but they could make it work if they put more effort into it.
I think they screwed up by having a streamable beta so early. The game feels like its being rushed out before the average gamer dad realizes how little EQL actually offers once you've settled on a trio you like. Its not even good as a nostalgia romp because theres little reason to go to most zones. When you have befallen gear being good enough to solo the planes, you end up with even less incentive to leave the few designated leveling areas. Beastlords are in an embarrassing state. AA are all over the place in value. The spell upgrade system was put in earlier than they planned as a bandaid to the caster problem. Theres so many things that show the game isn't ready but they want the money to keep it going before people lose interest.
>>
>>2735367
They definitely wanted to put the game out before summer ends to try and catch people who were going to buy just the box and sub for a bit who've not played EQ before as well.
>>
This project flopping would honestly be the best possible outcome for all Everquest fans.
>>
>>2735720
The best outcome for all REAL EverQuest fans would be for the project to limp along holding just enough attention from Secrets and DBG devs to ignore all the actual good servers that real fans want to play.

>Older players run around the karanas quad kiting and then go back to the dungeons at +4 and snort up all the upgraded loot
>Older players know the quests to quickly unlock the races they want, turn in the items before turning to their meta build
>Newbies end up crying because of how obtuse some things are
Something that makes me giggle is watching newbies explain tracking to another player.
For non Rangers/Druids/Bards, it's a tiny ass circle you can see by just manually looking around.
For rangers it's a gigantic sphere of multicolored dots. That's not helpful.
You have to use the track menu, scroll through to find who/what you want, then go to that NPC.
We used to use Sense Animal/Detect undead etc to find things.
Also watch them give the SolA gnomes loot but keep the faction hits in so if you hunt there gnomes become even more of a pain in the ass to unlock.

i think the main problem they had was the huge disparity in weapons between classic/kunark causing issues. when kunark launches you basically have to nuke melee or they will be op, or you need to leave them shitty until kunark.

all because verant "fixed" melee by forcing people to buy an expansion and invalidating all old weapons rather than just making melee better.

>>
>>2737445
I honestly probably plan to main a Knight class and not get all lost in the sauce of too many of the things they want to sell, race and class unlocks being the way they are price wise is pretty nasty given the disparity in how some races are unlocked, but that more or less incentivizes people who care to start as ogres.
>>
>>2737445
most of this shit is totally unneeded unless you are a hoarder or allergic to grinding. as it is this game doesn't have enough content to last. leveling is quite fast and weekly lockouts on raids basically means there is nothing to do at all besides unlocks when you are done grinding the few higher level dungeons.
>>2738046
the races seem like they will be pretty easy to unlock, esp with everyone having illusion access. the faction rates are extremely boosted and losses are minimal in comparison.
knight is a good call since they are actually functional and complete.

Classes on here are meant to feel strong out the gate, its why Warriors got Cleave as an example. Bards are the only class that didn't get anything to help them feel not shit until they are leveled, moted, and aa'd and I personally think that that is a problem. A Bard in this version of Everquest shouldn't feel like a P99 Bard until its fucking level50, aa'd and moted. Even live Everquest knew this was a problem and gave them an aa called Selo's kick which is a nuke built into the kick that can't miss. >giving everyone the ability NOT to work together goes against what "old school" mmos were all about.
Not only does Runescape disprove this but in 2026 not working together and having a more of a Runescape like adventure is what the majority of the people prefer. If you play other MMOs you would know this, when people group they don't talk, in voip they don't have mics, general channels are mainly only used as advertisements. This of course isn't how it always is but its how it is more often then not. The old school MMO dream is dead and the future of MMOs will be Runescape like and or something we have yet to experience yet.
>>
Requiring people to group to make meaningful progress/do all the content was actually novel to EQ when it released. MUDs and proto MMOs were mostly very solo friendly. This isn't to say you should play EQL (you shouldn't).
>>

What do you mean? Compared to Knights, Warriors get:
>Higher HP

>>
>>2752872
sadly that's how it is, you can swap classes whenever so they don't really seem to care much if they are shit or lategame only or w/e.

for example bard might be bad without AAs but look at a class like druid, purely useless, shaman but bad. zerkers are great for leveling but useless for anything that hits hard. there are also the extremely restrictive, borderline useless classes like mage/beastlord that hardly stack well with anything. beastlord in particular will never be good in any build for the time being because the cap is 50, which means they don't get a decent slow, etc.

I dont like the direct reliance on another classes ability to make your class specific ability work. that feels like bad design.
>>
>>2760352
Rampage is an AA available to Warriors and Berserkers, who get Cleave and Frenzy respectively. Rampage is something like a singular attack all the mobs around you every three years even with added cooldown reduction. It's bad design because when you attach other classes, Paladins can smite forever and SKs can Reave forever whereas the Warriors and Berserkers could do that anyway but aren't getting nearly as much from their abilities and don't exist in a vacuum.

>>
>>2764030
It's just a Vah Shir, but here's my thing:
You can get the steadfast AA for physical stun immunity. If you want to utilize ogre stun immunity, you have to play with ogre. Which means you need that shrink clicky from Blackburrow and a bunch of other caveats.
There's no AA to get sneak, sure you can switch to a rogue or monk, but if you're just playing a race where sneak is innate, you don't have to think about it. Not all vendors are in towns.
Cats could be a good roll, depending on what deity they have to worship.
>>
>>2764078
It'd be nice if they had a fun custom god, but I imagine for a while they'll just be agnostic and they'll tell people to haha just unlock the gods later by questing.
>>

I dunno, the gods in EQ were barely utilized as it was. Some gods could only be worshiped by a very small niche of class/race combos (Veeshan by bards, Prexus by a few, Solusek by a few, The Tribunal, Rodcet Nife etc).
It's basically a Bertoxxulus, Innoruuk, Cazic Thule, Brell, Agnostic, Tunare and Karana world.
It would be neat if they found a reason to utilize a very not often worshiped god before they branched off into new ones.

The main audience for this game is boomers who are easily separated from their money and people who've never played EQ because it was SO HARD to group and now can solo level their dicks off.

I still can't get over how many servers they're launching with. Do they really think they'll have more players than completely free THJ? Why do you even need so many servers when everyone can spin up their own instance of every zone? It's so dumb. This whole project is a fucking trainwreck.
>>
>>2770710
I understand them having separate ones for US and EU, but having this many really does seem crazy, I agree. Especially since they'll all be diluted into one or two servers later on, I think it's more hubris on display than anything, and that they just need to let people have alts instead of saying "Well you can play it over there".
>>
>>2770710
>>2770734
they want to ensure everybody can log in without a queue and use that cash shop. perhaps have paid name reservations for when servers merge as well.

If they don't need the extra servers they can literally just merg them whenever. When teek/tormax launched teek for like 20,000 players while tormax got like 5000 players and literally within the first few hours of launching daybreak just restarted the servers throwing tormaxes extra server space over to teeks to manage the load

Rivervale ended up the RP/some streamers/Gay alphabet people server so they'll melt if something doesn't fit their cult ideal of how people should act
Freeport has the big streamers and is supposed to be EST
Qeynos already has the reputation of being the "Chud" server. As I was trolling during the beta I can't help but feel a little responsible for that but there's some "Chud" guilds there now.
For people like us that means grouping opportunities without worrying about offending someone as the pansies aren't on that server.
I'm kind of annoyed. I'm trying to keep tabs on news for this game since I'm going to play it this weekend but suddenly everything is barren news wise.
The only new stuff I've gleamed is that people don't like how Kerrans run (its the Vah Shir skeleton) and the Kerra Isle NPCs don't show up on Find but use the modern task windows to track quests.
So if you absolutely must have modern ways of doing thing, Kerrans are for you.
>>
>>2774967
p99 is very easy to solo as long as your starting class is Enchanter(the protagonist class). you can mostly solo anything that isn't a raid as long as you tryhard.

necro and shaman are also good solo classes, shaman kind of sucks to play until around level 24-34 though but it can still solo those too.
>>
so, we got a guild going yet?
>>
>>2776610
I'm just a passing shadow/streaming this time so I'm not planning to make one. Qeynos seems like a good place to hang out if anyone else wants to.
>>
Double posting but there's a hp/mana/endurance regen item in the Kerran starting area.
Take the quests from Sha'rr(sp?) and complete those then mote for the enchantment to use it on other things.
>>
>>2776663
What are the actual stats on it like? Regen stuff feels a lot less effective with how fast it already is in-combat.
>>
>>2776700
It's not super great, its +2 and basic baby gear stats. It's notable in that its one of the few endurance regen items which prolongs your stances.
Kerrans are a good race so the NPC tier Ogre/Iksar race rollers that don't know any better are learning about how faction works in EQ the hard way so that's funny.
It's not an item worth dropping whatever you're doing to go get, but if you're in the neighborhood its a nice enchant for your neck/any/any slot so its +6 regen.
Definitely going to lose its luster as stats inevitably bloat but its a nice toy.
>>
>>2777064
I started as Iksar because I thought plat would be as prevalent as in the beta, but they've definitely dropped the rates on random trash gear that you can sell to line your pockets, I don't think unlocking a good race is still all that expensive, especially the elves/half-elf
>>
>>2777064
faction is the endgame, also ogres/iksar can just sub ench and go anywhere lol
>>
>>2777081
I mean overall you'll be fine. I'm specifically referring to actual newbies who read 'roll ogre and iksar' and are getting colonscopies from the Kerran guards because they didn't know that was going to be an issue.
I'm personally going to roll halfling, hunt humanoids and golem in the Beholders maze, take the ore bricks and do blacksmithing, turn the rest into metal bits and turn into the Iksar person and turn the silver bars into the gnome in the karanas. Then just fill in the ore as necessary.
Yes you can roll rogue for sneak but not all vendors will always be in town and once you play with sneak its kind of hard not to.
>>
>>2776663
thanks for the information. no way in hell im ever making a kerran so i may never have found out about this otherwise.
>>
Is it true that personal instances aren't working? Id love to play the game and be able to see/encounter other players in the world, even if it's only for a couple of days. It's what I liked about the beta.
>>
>>2779583
i've had no trouble making them though you have to be careful with using up the limited charges which is bullshit
>>
>>2779583
Freeport and Rivervale (The reddit and LGBT servers) were overloaded and they had to push a patch to fix those two specific servers.
It was an issue for only those two servers, everyone else can play normally.

>>
>>2780139
Oh yea forgot about burnout. I've just been doing bst proc buff and the dead buff line
>>
>>2780144
frenzied burnout is different from regular burnout, it's an AA dps cooldown for the pet.

it gives like 300 atk or something stupid and some overhaste, which allows you to go past the hard haste cap. you can even buff players with it if you duel and charm them, you can break the charm right after and the buff still sticks.
>>
>>2780273
Oh wow I didn't know about that. Been mostly farming t3 dungeons with any warrior/whatever pets I've been able to charm

>>
>>2781670
Clothing size used to matter a lot, but they've ezmoded gear a bit and a lot of quests like mail quests aren't lore so you can stack them for faction runs.
A special note is during early EQ the devs realized they made Erudite a shit race to play (night blind, low strength, low agi etc) so they compensated by giving them a lot of Erudite exclusive gear.
In Legends that means a lot of that gear is free for all now. It's worth poking around Odus and seeing if your class needs some items from them
>>

I feel that with the PH change to some of the older dungeons, you can amass quite a bit of plat just by camping valuable vendor trash in LGuk or SolB. Two questions:

1. Is there any appeal to this for someone who's never touched EQ before? I tried playing for an hour but nothing really clicked and by how much xp I got at lvl 1 from mobs it seems like it's a massive grind? I saw exactly one other player the whole time too, this was on an EU server.

2. Since you can only play one character per realm, is there a way to race change if you get bored of your race? Or are you stuck unless you reroll on another realm? I like the Dark Elves but the Lizard and Frog men look cool too..

A lot of EverQuest, and it still is in the mainline game, is grinding monsters and shooting the shit with your party mates, of which are required because soloing is either very resource intensive or very risky.
In Legends your character is strong enough to solo a lot of monsters that would otherwise rock your shit so you don't have to spend an hour making a group, an hour playing then going to bed.
I like the faction system. Pretty much any entity you kill in the entire game will have a numerical value for how much he disliked you beating his ass, but somewhere in the world someone else's numerical number will increase for your actions.
Some people want to be liked everywhere so they're very picky about who they beat up, while some people play the game like they're using a lawn mower in an exotic flower park.
You can turn towns into dungeons, and it's pretty cool.
It's pretty much the DM just rolls with whatever you want to do kind of game.

this design is simply worse than thj which was an alt focused server. The gear there was easy to upgrade(after a point) and tradable, because of alts it had a real huge economy.

so much lost potential in EQL, the mote system rather than the evo slot is just such dogshit. it's especially awful because the best way to farm motes is to twink out a noob class in planar gear and shred crushbone/befallen... you basically have to farm motes at d4

it would take 1 afternoon for a talented artist to make a handful of textures
there isn't a lot of variety in EQ it's basically robe - leather - chain - plate
that's it every race has 4 base models in norrath and then there's like 3 more textures for later stuff which isn't even in EQL right now.
>>
>>2797313
it was actually pretty obscure early on, I found it by accident and it made me go "wtf there's a EQ private server?!" and this was after it was a few years old already.
then I told my siblings and friends and I'm sure that's how many others got into it as well
>>
>>2797444
i guess i just thought people knew about eqemu, it was around long before p99, since like 04 or something.
anyway it's probably better that you skipped out desu, shit was stupid. for example at launch the combat formulas were totally fucked, AC/defense actually didn't do anything for weeks, max hit by a level 1 mob, every time, no matter what level/gear. the game got fixed somewhat after awhile but by then it was no longer a niche eqemu server and got infested with nigger faggots who like to ruin shit for everyone and obnoxious enchanters/shaman camped at every mob anyone would ever care about 24/7.

so p99 was either awful to play, had awful players to play with, or was dead, a true tragedy.
quarm was a lot better because it took the necessary steps to mitigate the nigger-like behavior of p99 players

normally i might agree but when the difference between the worst and the best is so stark, and the best is also the best at basically everything it has gone way too far.

that's pretty much the state of "classic" eq
>>
>>2728053
That's something I always hated about EverQuest. They half assed the Luclin models, put them everywhere and said they would do better then didn't. Then they made Drakkin and made everyone start in their city and tried to brush away the old world.
Like, you dumb niggers, the old world with their 200+ factions and cool ass dungeons where why we liked EverQuest. You just made the Karanas 10 times and made super bixies.
Every expansion has what, two factions to play with max and then some kill zones you have to group to play in.
Yah great.

>>
>>2798868
eq development was about adding to the treadmill and trying to get retards to buy more expansions, of course they are all rushed and half assed in all ways possible.
the amount of time that went into anything else was almost nothing. it took them years to fix bugs with older content(which they couldn't sell) that should have taken a few weeks tops. the core of the game, the things that made it popular, were totally neglected and it's no surprise that eq died as soon as it had any competition at all.
>>2799036
unless you are playing a lot you will have classes to level and motes to farm, i haven't even hit 50 yet. i do think that they made the grind a bit too short and d0 a bit too easy for longevity though.

It looks pretty cool. I didn't know EQL was a thing
I played everything but EQ as a kid (Asheron's Call, The Realm Online, Shadowbane, Ultima Online, etc), so this does sound exciting since I missed it but
>tri-classing
>everything is soloable with groups being 4 max (why)
Everything else looks great, but I don't think I'd like those two. Dual-classing is cool, but three classes seems like too much
Is this just a repackaged experience for old players only?
I hope Monsters & Memories is fun
>>
Tri classing is kind of boring. Everyone's the same mix
>>
>>2801692
Personally, I can come up with some fun roleplaying type setups for a trio. Doesn't mean it'll be successful though. I'm not sure how you would balance all potential trios without breaking the fun. I can see why you see it's boring- the inevitable conclusion of balance attempts to appease whiners/steamers/whales/whomever.
>>
>>2801655
I mean, old EQ players are going to know what combos well together, what abilities classes are missing and what classes can cover that, etc.
The game let's you fiddle around with everything til level 11 but thats not going to tell a newbie what a class does.
Like you generally want to be able to slow monsters, but its not obvious where slow comes from until late game or why you'd need it.
Obviously getting hit less is good, but it's easy to gloss over in character creation.
Then there are stances etc.
There are a lot of legit newbies running around, and you can tell because of how they play (people in cloth melee for extended periods of time, not buffing themselves etc)
Its basically EQ that doesn't require you to learn it but since you can solo a lot more someone being a potato doesn't effect you.
>>
>>2801655
>>everything is soloable with groups being 4 max (why)
Raids are 8 player btw
>Dual-classing is cool, but three classes seems like too much
So you can pick a tank, a healer, and a dps class
It's the whole good fast cheap scenario if it were duo
>I hope Monsters & Memories is fun
A major dev and co-founder left, it has an absurd amount of user friction and toxicity problem I dropped it hard
>>
Pure caster really needs buffs, having to upgrade every spell to +10 just so you can land on +4 bosses is kinda gay

I don't understand this game. Which race and classes should I pick? Iksar sounds neat but it seems every normal race is hating me and killing me on sight. Should I play as a Dwarf? Or a high elf? I wanted to go war/brd/clr. Never played any Everquest.
>>
>>2803403
there's not really much of consequence in the cities since eq was released halfbaked and hardly anything to do with factions mattered outside of bank access and maybe 1 epic quest.
what matters most is start locations and iksar have a good one
>>
>>2803441
And this is my issue. I already figured out that they have all important trainers, etc. in one tiny 'city' but the world outside is weird. There are human guards in my level area. As a dwarf I just went outside and killing stuff and hadn't to avoid some high level guards.
The Ixars felt like an outcast right from the start. Should I just kill 'til I my level is high enough for another area?!

hello i am asking stupid questions today
are beastlords good, or at least playable in endgame (difficulty 3-4)? can their pets tank well at endgame if you load them up on gear? from what i can tell there's basically no reason to play a beastlord (they dont even get double attack..?) when magician and shaman exist

i'm kinda considering beastlord+cleric+wizard but it hinges entirely on how useful the bet can be since i'd be using cleric to buff+heal it and wizard to teleport/dps stuff instead of doing any melee
alternative is just shaman+beastlord+monk and using sham/monk to make the shitty parts of beastlord passable, but then i don't get good heals or plate (until velious)

beastlords have always been sort of a class fantasy but they've always been trapped in a really shitty cuckold support position where they only exist to cast savagery/crack, so this hybrid class thing has me excited to try and solve that.. but it kinda seems like their warders just got completely left behind math-wise?
>>
>>2817530
Mages and Beastlords are currently the two worst classes in the game, these classes are "usually" good because their pets can help them keep up with everyone else. In this version of the game everyone is buffed say 100%? And pets didn't get that treatment, pets are equiv more say to classic EQ meanwhile everyones running around with the equiv of Luclin power. Sure you can play them but playing them is literally crippling yourself, HOPEFULLY pets get buffed tomorrow.
>>
>>2817530
basedlords are good in actual everquest so you should probably just play that instead
>>
>>2817530
non-charm pets suck on eql
if they didn't suck beastlords would be better than mages though so you got that wrong for sure because mages are cucked second tier dps just like beastlords normally but have zero utility

you basically need slow to do d4 bosses, so that means enchanter or shaman(possibly bard), if you go enchanter you can charm and it vastly outclasses the beast pet. also the pet probably won't be able to hold aggro over a wiz nuking
>>
>>2818638
kek do non charm pets at least receive song buffs? amazing how these hacks managed to make class balance worse than thj which is the game they are copying
>>
>>2818755
There's an AA that allows non charm pets to be effected by bard songs
>>
>>2807440

Whether it’s good news or bad news the soloability of the content in this might have been overstated. When you go into D4 on the raid content shit takes forever to kill and sometimes you get nailed with uninterruptable casters or ridiculous adds. Even if you can solo it in theory, it doesn’t make any sense to since loot is all personalized anyway.
>>
>>2820257
and adding another player increases the mob healths a lot
>>
>>2818755
it's better than thj in that there are more elite trios but worse in that there are more totally obsolete classes that you should never use in any comp

I've decided that EverQuest Legends on D4 is basically the Looney Tunes of MMOs. It's so darn easy to die all sorts of silly ways and yet you make a quick comeback due to the lack of death penalty and getting to respawn in the same zone so you're back at it. During some of my trial and error play I felt like Wile E. Coyote pulling the string on a cannon which then literally backfired.
>>
>>2826671
I mean, dying easy is just normal EverQuest. Wizards were so fragile they could cast a rain spell on a tank, tank could step back to bring the mob into camp and the rain would hit the wizard and they'd die.

>>2824645
Seeing him in that video and knowing how he has acted in the quarm discord for years all makes sense now

i can AKSHUALLY you on this one, since followers of tunare can just walk around in the plane of growth and hang out. there's even a quest or two in there they can fuck around with
>none of those factions should be repairable
you might as well get mad about tormax/dain/yelinak respawning with this logic, too

anyway velious is my favorite expansion and nothing else they ever shat out came close to it for how much care and detail they put into it, the lore is pretty cool and heavily thought-out as far as MMO stuff goes
>>
>>2836123
>semi-coherent system
what's incoherent about the velious system? It's quite straight forward actually
>>
>>2836891
handwave it all you want it was lazy because they didn't want to lock people out of content. this is a game world where gods dictate policy to their followers and all of them know which race is owned by who.

growth was fine though
>>
>>2837205
>because they didn't want to lock people out of content.
yeah it's a game bruh
>game world
now I think this is the confusion. The game takes place in the world, but it is separate from the world. Because it's a game it contains things that serve the player, such as respawning mobs and changeable faction.
>>
>>2837502
i guess you just don't give a shit about the only unique or noteworthy things this game ever did
>>
>>2837562
on the contrary, I love the faction system. In fact I wish it was more fleshed in classic so you could repair your cazic thule faction and gain some benefit from it.
But I get it you're just a shit stirring faggot.

i'd ask if someone wants to host a new general but i don't really want to encourage advertising this piece of shit even if i'm having fun with it for the time being kek
they're already rolling out nerfs instead of fixing the classes that are just pointless to even have in the game in their current state
>>
>>2840362
>nerfing instead of just buffing the weak classes
>>
>>2840393
Secrets would just make sure the paladin got buffed again and could use more obviously shadow knight items
>>
>>2837502
Faction kept me playing because it made me feel like some random group of NPCs approved of how I played.
I guess in some ways that also applies to real life.
>>
>its fun
vee wrong again
>>
>>2840787
what is it about shitskins and troons that always make the paladin class busted in any game anytime they have a say in it?
>>
compiled EQEmu so I can play my own private server with bots
I've got them hooked up to a local LLM so I can chat with them in game
been building a dataset using existing NPC dialogue and canon lore to finetune the LLM model so it doesn't break character or make up lore, I've got tool calls as well so they can be asked to do things without hallucinating actions
>>
>>2841850
this is just an elaborate setup for erping with the lonely housewife high elf bot in tells while her husband guild leader is busy doing tradeskills, i'm on to you
>>
>>2841482
the love of perverting something fair. why else would the paladin get to quest and wield The Torrid Corruptor?
>>
>>2842803
kek i didnt know about this. the favoritism is real. might as well give paladin the warrior discs too
>>
excited to see what new bullshit lurks within mistmoore
also excited to see what these stupid assholes think 'substantial' means when it comes to unfucking beastlord pets
>>
>>2843097
bst pets will never be fixed unless they actually match your level
>>
>>2843097
Considering they think a revamp is adding 3 new mobs with 6 pieces of new loot, you can imagine what substantial means to them.
>>
>>2843097
you might find the fact they brought down instance creation until the downtime is over with tomorrow amusing
>>
>>2843097
I really hope its significant. I leveled up with a beastlord warder and it was okay, but I would like it to be good enough for me to fall back and heal it if I need a breather
>>
update,
the """""""substantial DPS increase"""""""" for beastlord pets is about 15 dps at +10
they're still magnitudes worse than magician, enchanter and necromancer pets
i feel sick giving these retards money
>>
Kinda bored with EQL now. Nobody groups for anything and it's just a boring state inflation mess
>>
>>2844561
I wonder why they're so afraid of giving beastlords a strong pet? That's the class identity. It's better than nothing, but still strange.
>>
>>2845024
because its a hybrid and they have to be weaker by design. also pay no attention to the state of paladin and bard
>>
>>2835715
what? oow is full of faction grinding. DoN as well
>>
>>2845331
>because its a hybrid
i hate this argument for beastlord because their 'monk' identity doesn't even exist
zero attack skills, they don't even get double attack, their feign is an AA with a ten year cooldown, etc
they're literally just retarded shamans
>>
>>2845387
they higher skill caps on hand to hand like monk but thats it. pretty funny considering they end up using 2h weapons most of the time anyways
>>
>>2845024
all the devs for this game love charm and hate summoned pets
god forbid a player pet even do half the dps of a charm, there's not even any risk to charming on this server either

>>2845331
paladin isn't even that good compared to bard, enchanter or shaman. it has the op posky knight 1hander so people pick it for their tank slot
>>
>>2846288
>all the devs for this game love charm and hate summoned pets
>god forbid a player pet even do half the dps of a charm, there's not even any risk to charming on this server either
this has been true throughout the history of everquest
it's only in eq2 that they ever nerfed charm to any real extent

i can't even imagine how disgusting it would be with enc+clr+snarer
>>
>>2846288
it also has slay undead and rgc when that becomes an issue in luclin
>>
>>2846299
you don't really need anything to charm on eql. mobs offenses are super weak compared to players huge defenses
>>2846319
slay undead is pretty big boost i guess but not much undead stuff desu
i think cleric adds more bulk but paladin has better equipment access

warrior has some great armor and bulk but has no mana and no good weapons available atm
>>
I wanna nuke bosses down with wizard but ran into mana issues as I have both cleric and wizard and need to heal myself but need to turn the boss into jerky.
Am I going to have to switch to necro for lich to pull that off?
>>
>>2848798
lich doesn't add up to that much in a given fight it's more about long term sustainability
i wouldn't be suprised if going enc and the +mana buff ends up being more. maybe you could even mez the mob and med up
>>
>>2847986
>>
>>2848798
maybe switch to triple int so you only gear for one stat

wiz/ench/sk is a very very strong trio and very popular because you max out arcane mastery invocation with 3 int classes
>>
>>2850024
nta but i'm doing sk/wiz/shaman atm and keep feeling like the shaman part of it doesn't really fit at all since crit lifetaps are so insane for recovery, will try replacing it with enchanter. sounds fun
>>
i don't know why you'd ever pick shaman over enc unless you're relying on them for heals, the slow is basically the same and mez+charm is OP as fuck
>>
>>2850206
shaman has a lot of really nice buffs for melee
with avatar in kunark it MIGHT be worth using shaman and enchanter, or dumping ench despite the power of charm
>>
made an enchanter to see what the fuss was about and holy shit
-150 res charms are so retarded, being able to level up the limit is goofy as fuck too, i went from lvl 10 to 32 in about four hours
>>
>>2852948
not the other anon but im making an sk/nec and havent decided enchanter or wizard for the third. pretty good problem to have as both work well.
>>
>>2853268
i would only go nec+wiz if you wanna see how funny 300% crit damage lifetaps can be (very)
>>
>>2853407
the sk tap is barely even less.... they get drain spirit in eql and have their own fast tap that necros don't get
>>
>>2853749
yeah i was gonna say necro+sk is kinda pointless but i didn't wanna rain on his parade
SK with wizard crits on their lifetaps and leech procs is super retarded, you'll be getting ~1300 damage lifetaps by the time you hit 50 pretty consistently on top of 400+ crit procs on vamp embrace (AND boon of the garou procs if you go enchanter)
all in all very silly business
>>
>>2856780
nuke focused builds(wiz or bard) are the king of the meta right now
>>
>>2856780
>SK with wizard crits ... AND boon of the garou procs if you go enchanter
I'm going to steal this idea
>>
>>2857698
enjoy ur +100 dex
enchanter is fucking disgusting with the various invocations and stances making it go supersaiyan
>>
>>2857896
I have never liked playing Enchanter, but this trio has been really enjoyable so far. Plays really fast if you want to go that route, but it also works if you want to be methodical.

1. Ornamentations are not classic. Walking around seeing cool weapons and learning their story, how to obtain them, and why I'm too much of a noob to do so is a top 5 rip off the nostalgia bong. The microtransactions fund the game excuse folds when you charge a box & sub fee so I won't hear it.

2. Tradeskills and Quests are a fucking grand slam just sitting there waiting for anybody with half a brain to utilize them. We have this entire database full of weapons and armor, made by tradeskills, hardly anybody ever uses - along with 20+ quests available in every single zone and not a single one of them got any love aside from like, making alchemy work for everybody.

Why do quests not give a +N version of items? A very basic version of this could be basing the item's +N on your faction, since grinding faction seems to be one of the developers active kinks. This could be built in an afternoon by my dumbass. Another easy one: Why do successful tradeskill combines not yield a version of the item (base through +10) based off the persons <tradeskill> level? It solves multiple problems. Gives people a new plat sink, gives tradeskill lovers a reason to tradeskill, provides new items that are actually useful, promotes an actual economy. You want to sell ornamentations sell "Grand Master Blacksmith Tokens" or something and let high level smiths apply ornaments to *their* crafted armor so people can ask each other "omg who are you wearing??" when they see something they've never seen before on somebody. Then you can crank the skillup chance waaay down on tradeskills and make them luxury/chase items. Also it gives those super weird people who love tradeskills more than raiding some kind of clout. Steve the blacksmith can strive to have the best tanks in norrath wearing his plate armor.
>>
3. Itemization is clearly done by people who don't understand how carrots and sticks work. Remember when there was newbie quests on the TLPs and everybody had better-than-hate armor by turning in a couple sand scarab legs? That's what it feels like when you walk out of a revamped lvl 20 dungeon. It really feels like items were just sorta spawned in as "lets look at what drops here and make it slightly better than whats already here" except that sets you up for failure because thats literally the entire purpose of the next level ranges dungeons. It speaks volumes to the lack of foresight (or ignorance) of the endgame consequences.

4. Speaking of revamps, why start low? Why start at the zones that take 30 minutes to out-level? Yeah we can play through them again but we're stronger and it takes even less time. Why not start with Sol B, Lower Guk, Kedge, and the Hole? We'll play through those again, too! This also nurtures correct itemization because instead of starting from the bottom and guaranteeing needing to revamp every single item afterwards because you just made a level 10 obtainable item BiS for the next 6 months, you're creating space for those useless low level items to actually have meaning and purpose in the early game instead of just skipping gearing entirely (or on EQL, the opposite, having BiS by level 20).

And since you're actively revamping dungeons that take *some* skill to crawl you can put in things that help balance classes. Mobs in a group that can convince their charmed buddy to 'see the light' and break charm (or be immune). Mobs that hang back 20 ft and nuke or bow attack so they don't get caught up in the DDD AE spam, or hit by the +10 AE mez spell we're all using. Mobs that simply spawn resistant to such things but are super vulnerable to melee attacks or skills. The feedback channel is literally the back of the textbook in middle school, where they gave half the answers to you for free.
>>
5. BIG NUMBER DOESNT MEAN BETTER GAME. A D4 dungeon offering nothing but broken line of sight on pulls (aka are you getting 4 or 14?) isn't difficult. Just adding numbers to a HP pool is not difficulty. This concept is so Emu-brain coded it makes me think the sellouts who left us were the ones designing all the content on the majority of emu servers I've ever played on. Because its lazy, and it sucks. Difficulty comes from making people solve problems. Turning auto attack on for an extra 45 seconds per mob isn't solving a problem, therefore not difficult. It's tedious.

6. Open world fucking blows. It's obvious nobody at game jawn has even physically walked through the world they've created. The first day I walked from Oggok to Kerra Isle and in every single open world zone there was complete jank just staring me in the face. I literally thought I logged into my own Emu server it was so unprofessional. A conga line of 30+ aqua goblins just walking the EXACT same grid along the shore all hitting the exact same 4 waypoints in Lake Rathe, entire swaths of the karanas with nothing to see for miles and then a giant pile of mobs somewhere else like they're all sharing the same 3 grids across the entire zone. This is literal rookie shit, that takes zero time to figure out. Simply by playing and being engaged in your own game. It feels like nobody on the team actually has any passion for EverQuest and they all just have passion for being the center of attention or whatever.

I could go on (I did! I had 3 more points written out..). But it all kind of ends up circling back.
