This is a thread for matchmaking, discussion, and cultivation of action puzzle and other adjacent competitive arcade games. To get the thread going, post guides, resources, and other related materials pertaining to games of this nature, along with determining the definitive ways to play these games via online multiplayer (PC releases, Fightcade, Netplay, etc.)

what's the best way to play puyo online? i'm just learning and Puyo Puyo Champions matchmaking seems to be dead on PC.
lip..
one game anons should check out is New Tetris (N64)the main addition to the game is the inclusion of recognizing 4x4 blocks of 4 tetrominoes. if the block is made by a single type of piece it forms a gold block, and if it's made of more than one type of piece it forms a silver block.it's the only modification to Tetris that has ever made sense, and adds a lot of depth to the game, especially in vs. where it is essentially that you can form them no matter how good at normal Tetris you are.other versions of the game may have included the mechanic as an option, although i'm not aware of any.

>>2719990pretend that its a discord fighter>>2722661im willing to try it>recognizing 4x4 blocks of 4 tetrominoes>adds a lot of depth to the gameassuming that this is about using exactly 4 tetrominos to form a 4x4 square4x4 blocks of the same tetromino sounds difficult and would greatly limit how you can stack. i doubt the payoff is worth leaving a 2x4 open until the pieces come; maybe viable in score attack?common 4x4 blocks include permutations of JSLI/LZJI/TTLI/TTJI/TTZL/TTSJ/ILJO, which work in almost any order. there are situational combinations such as JJOO but i cant imagine that anyone who knows anything about 4 line perfect clears would struggle with building 4x4 squares. anyone who plays tetris knows how to stack flat, which is the only thing you need to do to consistently construct 4x4 squares.i dont know how fun it is to do this in score attack but you cant build these when downstacking in vs so i dont know if it would be fun there.
>>2719990the Switch versions of Puyo Tetris/Champions are the popular ones and are still a little dead so you'll have to wait until Sega makes a Puyo with crossplay like how Tetris Effect Connected has itit's going to be a long time
Tetris:https://harddrop.com/wiki/Tetris_WikiTetris Effect: Connected, tetrio, and Puyo Tetris 1 are the most popular for multiplayer.Play whatever you want for singleplayer; NES Tetris and the Grand Master series are pretty fun.Puyo:https://puyonexus.com/wiki/Main_Pagehttps://www.chueq.com/It's a little harder to pin down specific multiplayer games, but matchmaking on PPT1/2 on Switch is at least not hopelessly empty. Puyo 20th, however, is undeniably a favorite for singleplayer and has an English patch.Panel de Pon:Panel Attack (NOT THE ONE ON STEAM) is a free and open source client with online multiplayer and should run on anything that can run a calculator program. Also has some singleplayer modes including vs yourself.
>>2724103maybe if that new game i've heard about the team possibly working on comes out soon but who knows. frankly i doubt they'd even get rid of online pitting you against a bot if you were waiting too long in puzzle pop if they ported that.
