Yes it's competitive at the top, but also there's a lot of bullshit wins happening regardless, more than there would be in most other CMs. It's not a pure casino like the last Sprint, but it's still as random or more random than a mile race I would argue even with the consistent accels, it's still a gamble on 3rd or 4th for pace, and head-on and it's gold variant is also a slight gamble which can be delayed. Being lucky pace isn't all that great unless you gambled angling as well. And lates are pretty decent but they're also definitely gambling as always so yeah there's a lot random shit, a random late start can completely brick a great uma.

The kid sadly died a few weeks before the Arima Kinen. In that race, Orfevre not only won, but won by 8 fucking lengths as the announcer and the crowd fucking lost their minds. There is not a lot of unit variety since it's based in Japan only so if you are not interested in the Sengoku period you will not like it. The expansion is a standalone so if you like gunpowder gameplay you don't need to get the base game to try it out. It doesn't work on higher resolutions though so if you have a 4k screen you will have to play it windowed or use a mod to scale up the UI and the diplomacy side is really bad. Overall i would definitely recommend it if you like feudal Japan.
