By "guns" you mean "having a bunch of roleplay appropriate guns" right? This really isn't that necessary for people to enjoy the server, and every time a janny puts the effort in to do this, everyone just uses the best gun anyways, which I think this defeats the point of making them all have unique stats at the very least.
But you clearly are new to int; almost all old gun iterations had a decent arsenals of weapons, with usually at least one for each major power at that time. There really isn't any practical need for more than that tbqh

nta but in my small experience with intman ive noticed that different facs do choose larp friendly guns if they can. they still metapick but theres still roleplay methinks. uniforms and hats carry the larp but I agree one gun per "class use" (think tf2) is more than enough and helps the casual flow of the game (you always have ammo, everything you loot has value and is easily organized). I do like the idea of larp gun loadouts and I hope one day it sticks, maybe there should just be different nation skins for the same kind of gun, and they use different ammo just for the larp?

Sometimes, yeah, metagroups have tried to stay larp accurate. But that tends to end once the chaos of war results in messy chestrooms, or a new meta weapon is adopted.

The "one gun per class" idea has more or less been the standard. Typically servers have only featured rifles, pistols, shotguns, and occasionally smgs or snipers. Adding unique country specific varients to all of these eats away at valuable dev time obviously, because you have to configure them, as well as test them out in a variety of ways to make sure they work well together. And for all that effort, all it ends up being for the very small autismo niche within the community who wants this to whine that you didnt go far enough.

My idea is twofold, depending on dev time/ability
1) There should be one base gun for each "class", each with corresponding universal ammo.
2) Weapons can have stats if dev has time to confirgure them, but they should be slight trade-offs based on what the aforementioned base guns stats are. For example: one gun has an extra few bullets, but less damage. Another has less bullets, but a faster reload time, and so on.

Problem with this is that one will just end up being better than all the rest. Less damage high ammo sucks for example, in i38 we had I think the m1 rifle and it took 3 shots to kill someone, and you could just never get kills with it

maybe we should adopt a planetside 2 style of gun balance. however with the freedom to make any kind of gun for any faction balancing might be a mess. we havent had a planetside/advance wars/faction balance style server and idk maybe we should. people picking sides based on the weapon gameplay they like instead of purely metagroups. would take actual balancing or ripping of faction mp games tho, plus im not sure I like the idea of faction weapon locks. maybe larp guns can instead be extended to larp industry, Implement crafting restrictions where guns can only be crafted in factory nodes, then a fac can choose what kind of industry they want.
nato facs can choose to apply "nato node attributes" and the same goes for redfor, with minor/middle nations choosing whatever they want. maybe have multiblock crafting tables for each family of gun so facs can choose to build whatever depending on the table.
maybe this is all too much and all we need is simple yin-yang asymmetric balance and let people choose what they think is fun
