Warning: schizopost and reddit spacing:The longer a singleplayer or multiplayer world goes, the more surplus players produce but the natural demand (traders) remains constant. In the middle of a server's life cycle, there's a massive trade in food and middle-tier tools like iron as players who only recently joined trade in raw resources to more established players for money and use that money to buy manufactured goods. More specialized players like niggas who get into the alchemy mod will also start to just pay for their basic needs like food (especially dairy), and roleplayers will also demand pretty stuff that may not occur in their locality (like marble or crops from other climates). But eventually the manufactured goods market gets saturated as every motherfucker starts smelting steel, the food market gets saturated as player-run plantations start storing decades worth of grain, inflation sharply rises as people in full steel armor and guns with bombs farm bellheads underneath and print gears like there's no tomorrow. Every conceivable market except for the sculpture/luxury furniture market gets saturated because there's too much supply and not enough demand. And demand in Vintage Story doesn't grow because players and NPC's don't fuck and have babies to grow the population. So the economy goes to shit (even with or especially with the coinage mod) and ends up not working anymore in the late state of a server's life cycle and people just start throwing gigantic amounts of food and gears around willy-nilly in desperate roleplaying spams in an attempt to stimulate some large artificial demand so we can keep playing and having fun together. In singleplayer, you just sit in your cool aesthetic villa and rot along with years worth of grain that your character will never eat and will never invest in.

Speaking of which, traders honestly should be fucking removed from the game. Og is acting fucky... picrel we went on an expedition from MMV to find some cheetos. copilot said the last boat he used was glitched out but i didn't think anything of it. we sailed to the west gem and then all the way north to the bay of cloves to get it. on the way back however my game crashed shortly after passing through the straights of gembralter. boat started jittering out and we couldn't get it to move hardly. i tried to bail with my elk but he sank down and drowned. shortly after than i saw the boat flying up and down and eventually sinking. swam to the shore and to my relief the other elk was able to be recalled from the sinking ship with a call from the bone flute. in retrospect that wan't the only fucky thing going on. i wasn't able to carryon crate and there were many instances of inventory desync. i hope a restart fixes it and it isnt some terminal condition leading to nu-nu-nu-nog (nogger).
forgot to mention two other boats also managed to beach themselves. never had this many problems with them before in such a short order. it very well could be some re-jank effect from rone adding chisoolables to them.
