Now personally I've been away from the SS fanbase for a while and haven't played any of the franchise gachas that have been since released (had plenty of fun with the PS3 games thou). Not sure how bad the gacha aspect is, part of the intent starting this topic is bringing in people with more experience playing it from other servers (or the other SS gachas to weight in) but from what I see there's some interesting features in this specific iteration including official voice actors, plenty of mini games, a faithful and comprehensive story mode and what sticked out to me was also the inclusion of the Asgard saga characters which is a pretty cool bonus (I really liked that saga).

Both PvE and PvP content for people who enjoy that aspect, which also seems to be the greater endgame.

And while we are at it why not some of the classic soundtrack to set up the mood.

Saint Seiya? I really don't think so. This franchise has its roots all the way to the 80's man and a lot of the ideas and vibes from it still feel like they come from that time.

I'm playing it but ive never played a gacha before. I'm lost as there are tons of things to collect. Coins, gold, vouchers, diamonds etc etc

I opened /vmg/ to look for the thread for a different game, but this is a pleasant surprise. I didn't even know about this, but I like Saint Seiya. Downloading now

Yeah the depth and granularity of resources in this game is insane. It's very fun but it's monetized as FUCK, they're doing all the tricks in the book to make you spend. It's definitely p2w as far as the PvP goes but there's a lot of f2p strenghtening options too as you level up and unlock even more options. The game actually does a very good job of handolding the player with the cute maid game assistant going over all options as you unlock them but it's just too much to absorb all at once (there were screens I'd waste a good 15 minutes or more searching for them again trying to remember where the fuck they were).

It's VERY easy to get lost with so much to do. I'd say prioritize the dailies and the Ikki event, try to do as much as the timed Ikki quests and the others whenever you can and move on to story, farming and whatever else the game throws at you.

The most recomended characters right now from what I hear are Mu (good magical support mid) and Aldebaran (very tanky frontliner), and the Mu, Milo and Aiolia combo is reportedly very strong because you unlock Athena Exclamation with the 3 together. The free Athena can be a very good support and backliner, definitely worth investing early on and the login day bonus will give her some very powerful relics. Today we had Aphrodite as a login freebie and there's another SSR Gold saint of choice coming up in some days.

The crazy Saga who's currenltly on the limited event banner is good at this point but it's said he eventually falls off in the long run. The most ideal move unless you plan to roll for him is to buy the limited tickets/vouchers and hold them for Odin armor Seiya (specially if you plan making a nordic faction team with Hilda) or some other future limited banners of interest. It will take a lot of blue gem crystals to buy the 30 limited tickets but the game keeps throwing those crystals at you, you can get them in a few days easily just playing.

Another tip, the Sweeping Vouchers are absolutely key for fast character progression. As you go through the story, you unlock what are the farming places with the drop materials needed for the promotions in order to level up and progress your characters.

Outside the freebies, you can buy some more daily on the diamond store with blue diamonds and they also accumulate up to 20, regening 1 every 20 minutes on the quest screen which you can access with the daily quest button (the one with the feather just below the story button/scrool at the main screen panel). Ihad 200+ of them but you run out pretty fast, specially as you level various characters.

Got fairly lucky with my Seiya Odin roll, it wasn't on the first try but I got him on the next roll so no need for pity to trigger at 40 rolls.

Now I'm going to save the rest of my tickets and build up the next copy from his coin fragments during the event's duration so he can be at that competitive 3 star form. He's the first of quite the gaunltet coming up with Freya, Hilda and the God Warriors who should be arriving over the next few weeks.

I won't deny that it's a game with better fluff to it than Awakening, the cutscene quality is a world apart and the fact they included things like Odin Seiya makes me hope the amount of characters will be more inclusive.

...But the autobattler fights man, there's no beauty in it.
Saint seiya is as different to things like Dragon Ball as a western gun duel is to a martial arts fight.
Seeing the good guys kick and punch a downed opponent to chip at their health bar is just sad to see. I watched a gameplay video and the youtuber filming it said it well, they took the game engine from another game and reskinned it for Saint Seiya.

i feel like a new saint seiya gacha gets made every few months.
