It didn't need to completely go away but it was too sluggish and disrupted the flow of the battle segments. Not like the expanded maps are any better, also sluggish and you only visit them once because this game seems to have given up on side commissions

It was part of the game's identity imo they stripping it so you can walk around the map as a 3d character just seems an attempt to make it even more hoyolike like the previous games which sucks
