I say this as a daima enjoyer, but it feels like they made these units very quickly and probably intended to drop them for golden week or maybe GDC last year but were either told to hold off or decided to take an easy-out for one of the anniversary parts. They don't look bad per se, but Goku is especially underwhelming. I do unironically think he'll look a little less jank at 2x speed but I can't argue that they are lacking the luster and polish we've come to expect from anni units now. Compared to the "standard" of the times, I think they're probably the worst animations-wise since 4th anni LRs

Goku and Vegeta really only have like 7 or 8 minutes each of fighting as adults, but they do a lot of cool shit in those minutes. In fairness, a lot of what made the fights so impactful was how Gomah's huge body distorts and gets thrown around, which is very tough to showcase with the shitty enemy sprites, but still. Pretty stupid animation choices for Goku to make his supers both of those heavy "pushing" punches when he had so much to draw from (the backhand into axe handle, the gut kick into rising punch, the bear hug) and then animate them so flat. It's like they under baked every piece of his animations and didn't deliver on any of them in a redeeming way. The intro is strong, but the voice work and timing could be better and it could be a tad longer. The 12 ki looks like something I'd have expected if daima dropped in 2020. The non-EX 18 ki is okay, I guess. The Ex-18 ki is solid. The active is mostly good but no voice work on the "fierce close up" and they cut the very satisfying build up. Vegeta I actually think is fine. They could've taken a few liberties with how the 18 ki ended or the explosion on the final flash and there was room for a bit more polish but I'm mostly pleased.

The quality is fine except for the sliding png punch, the problem is the shots they chose and omitted. Also goku hidden by a white glow for some reason during the active, instead of the dark blue contrast in the show.

I know some people are just going to call this schizo ranting, but does it feel like there's an agenda here with the Daima units whether it be Ofatsu or someone else? These are actually the worst value anniversary banners I can remember seeing in a long time, the animations are clearly unfinished and the lowest quality in modern Dokkan history, the support for the Daima category is practically non-existent, and the content is extremely lacking. It really feels to me like someone high up hates Daima and wanted to do as much as possible to make sure this celebration was received negatively. There has never been an interesting enemy mechanic. They all either take away control from the player or boil down to simple damage. Unit kits get interesting in order to deal with it but Dokkan has never become a deeper game otherwise and their ideas for units are finally drying up. It'll be pointless to continue if the new mode isn't good or if it takes another 3 years to finally release.
