so what real life locations would you like to see a future region take a crack at? I know some have been more or less popular in the past but for me it's:
>egypt + maybe some ethiopia
>greece, of course
>cajun/creole, louisiana + haiti/jamaica/whatever, and texas perhaps, multiple ways to do it
>australia mate, maybe throw in NZ too
I can't think of anywhere else that screams that it needs a region, and frankly I'm surprised we got spain before some of these. Greece especially.
>>
>>58191248
Mexico
>>
>>58191256
we just had the mexico region dude
>>
Cydonia, Mars.
>>
>>58191248
i know one of the resident autists never shuts up about it but fuck him it was my idea first, i think the great lakes would make a great region. there's a lot to work with in the area, culturally and historically as well as geographically, plus the lakes' profile on a map would be as instantly recognizable as alola being hawai'i. i just think it's a good idea.
>>
>>58191286
if etrian odyssey can do it pokémon can do it
>>
>>58191248
mexico
>>
>>58191287
interesting, I think it seems strange but that's mostly because I know literally nothing about the culture and history of the reason, but it might be cool. Sadly, now that I've thought about it, I can only imagine the japs would come up with a cheese mon gimmick for the wisconsin portion.
>>
>>58191299
NTA, but I think the Great Lakes would be great too, there's a lot you can do there. Several significant cities to riff on (Chicago, Detroit, Toronto). You could have an industrialized rust belt area in the south, a wild forested area in the north, and some Canadian stereotypes. Plus the lakes themselves are a cool geographical feature that would make it interesting to traverse around. And there's the question whether you make them an obstacle to get around, or something to be explored.

Other places I think would make good regions:
>California
>Pacific Northwest
>Mexico
>Brazil
>Germany
>Scandinavia
>Italy
>Turkey
>Morocco
>India
>Thailand
I would say China and Korea too but they're never gonna happen cause Japs hate them
>>
>>58191248
we should have a new region in japan, it would be fun to retread that ground in the nugf style where they make exclusively silly references. Imagine the tokyo tower (sorry, the "Tohon" or "Nikyo" or whatever tower) and akibahara (whoops, I mean "Pokebahara".) as obvious references handled with absolutely no grace, lmao. Legendary mons being stupidly generic like a kitsune and princess kaguya or something. Would be hilarious.
>>
Guatemala
Obviously Tikal, but Antigua (a Spanish city between volcanos) could be cool inspo
>>
>>58191400
nobody knows where guatemala even is
>>
>>58191367
i want it now bc it will either be peak japan region (johto/hoenn 2) or it will be the train-wreck you describe, and either would be entertaining
>>
The moon. Go on, make 100 mons that'd somewhat fit on the moon, GF.
>>

self-reply but i didn’t even think of this before—kitakami was a refreshing slice of japan after many years of lots of international themed ones

what was the general reception to kitakami anyway, that was my favorite part of sv (haven’t finished indigo still)
>>
>>58191433
it's the best part of SV, for sure
>>
>>58191433
oh true I forgot about kitakami because I haven't played a pokemon game since sun
>>
>>58191248
Argentina, just to see how they will work having a football region when they already played that card with Galar. Also, if they make the dish anything but grilled meat, GF will screw it up (more than they already did gens ago).
>>
>>58191450
chile + argentina + falkland islands + antarctic base could be cool. Imagine a fire/ice legendary for the region that you have to reach the south pole to find.
>>
>>58191435
glad others thought so too, god the wild battle theme was so fire too https://youtu.be/H2j-mCUChCs

>>58191439
completely fair, did not miss much besides PLA if you haven’t gotten to try it yet—DLC for SV is pretty cool too, very scuffed game though
>>
>>58191439
why are you talking about different regions when you don't even play the games
>>
>>58191468
SV honestly has all the essentials there, definitely has its shit together in regards to things like the actual gameplay loop, characters and writing, and quality of life - moreso than any of the 3D games besides gen 7 i'd say - it's just really ugly and the region is kind of barren and poorly realized. the DLC areas definitely benefitted from being smaller in scope, more focus was able to go into level design and visuals.
>>
>>58191323
>I would say China and Korea too but they're never gonna happen cause Japs hate them
Maybe 30 years ago. The new generation all play Chinese video games and listen to K-pop and watch K-drama.
>>
>>58191516
should have clarified, was not factoring in PLA with the 3D games comment. it's far and away the best one.
>>
Antarctica.

Give me research outposts repurposed as towns and dangerous treks between them only survivable because of the pokemon world's high tech gear and your team's abilities, a dungeon inside an ice cave network that's more maze than slide puzzle, water routes with extensive use of dive spots to reach pockets of air in icebergs and underwater volcanoes where strong pokemon lurk. You could have water types with anti-freeze in their blood, fire types that burn so hot internally the cold can't hurt them, mossy grass types that thrive despite the permafrost, a ghost type based on The Thing with an event/quest to encounter it, electric types that feed on the auroras/electromagnetic activity so close to the south pole, and plenty of fossil mons. Instead of type based gyms each outpost hosts tournaments based on different skills/stats/strategies like fishing - kinda like the johto bug contests but you battle for it, some time limit is given to hook a pokemon, catch it or toss it, reel in the next one and decide to battle it to train your current champ or swap out for the new catch, end with battling the other contestants and their catches; an attack/defense based tournament could require you to use physical moves only, special attacks only for a special based tournament; a status tournament could require moves that have a chance to inflict a status condition, not sure if that'd work better collectively or with individual status like burn only. Make the plot revolve around survival, discovery, and exploration - no grand cosmic threat, just the triumph of adventure and celebrating what people and pokemon can accomplish together.

>>58191516
>>58191545
agreed to both, SV had a like 8/10 entry in there underneath a lot of bullshit and botched presentation/execution obscuring it, and the DLCs show that best yeah

and yeah PLA is the best thing they’ve made since 3DS, here’s hoping ZA is even most of the way as good

Exclusion zones like Fukushima, Czernobyl etc., if they want delve into darker aspects of the past Pokéworld.

Basically something like Area Zero, but expanded to an entire region.

>Escape from the Tarkov region

grave of the fireflies -ass entry

we’ll finally see lt. surge back up his war stories
>>
American South region with a bunch of cryptid-inspired mons
>>
>>58191248
A Philippines/Southeast Asia inspired region would be pretty neat. Lots of interesting culture and critters to take inspiration from.
>>
>>58191248
What are they going to do when they run out of first world?
>>
>>58191415
The Sonic Team did for the legendary Sonic Adventure
>>
italy is obviously next
>>
>>58192066
Isn't the gacha region already based off Italy?
>>
>>58192234
It was originally supposed to be but we know from the leak that GF specifically told the devs not to use Italy because they wanted to save it for a future game.
>>
>>58191939
they used japan 4 times and to run out of first world nations they'd have to have, what, 100 generations? not to mention just regional stuff, US alone could support like 10 more regions (it already has 2 lmao) I mean florida, texas, louisiana, washington dc, alaska, great lakes, maine, california, nevada/las vegas, puerto rico, you know? could probably list more but those were just off the top of my head. And the same is true for some yuro nations.

I can't imagine they'll go to europe so many times without branching out
>>
Congo.
>>
>>58194187
Broly?
>>
>>58194035
I think you'd be surprised. there's only been three Euro regions total and two in a row. we had 4 Jap regions, mind you that's their home turf, but still. Europe is more varied than that.
I could see then alternating between US and Europe for awhile. like, Italy -> California -> Greece -> Germany -> PNW -> Scandinavia, etc. probably not in that exact order but something like that. maybe throw Australia in there too. that's enough first world regions for like two decades without even getting into lesser known Euro countries. and at that point, who knows what the franchise or the world itself will look like.
>>
>>58194678
fwiw I highly doubt we'll go to europe 3 times in a row at least. I bet we'll get a curveball for the next region.
>>
>>58194703
We know it's supposed to be archipelago and other than Greece the only options I could see are the Caribbean and Malaysia/Indonesia, but the Caribbean feels too big and diverse for a single region and Indonesia is currently in political turmoil.
>>
>>58194728
>We know it's supposed to be archipelago
where do we know this from?
>the Caribbean feels too big and diverse for a single region
I think the japs would happily merge it all into one, plus only Cuba and maybe another island or 2 would be able to hold up size-wise. I think the caribbean would be very fun actually, probably get a lot of similar vibes to gen 7.
>>
>>58194745
>where do we know this from?
Teraleak
>>
>>58194728
>Indonesian is currently in political turmoil
This doesn't matter lmao, gen 10 is already decided and developed for quite some time by now, while Indonesia is only recently got their shit rocked this week
Beside, Brits got in with Galar when their island is deeply divided as well. Hell, the largest mainline Pokemon's controversy is literally named Dexit
>>
>>58195077
I mean Nintendo put a game on hold for like 3 years just because of the Russia/Ukraine war, obviously they wouldn't do anything that drastic for a mainline Pokemon game but it could still have an impact. And Indonesia has been having these issues for years now, it just recently hit a boiling point.
>>
is that a pic of Moot?
>>
North and South Korea. All in one game. Thailand and Cambodia. Israel and Gaza.

Return to Japan.
>>
>>58195376
There is unironically nothing left to do in Japan, all the interesting parts of Japan have already been covered, all that's left is the Japanese equivalent of flyover country.
>>
>>58191248
They need a GTA style Pokémon game
>>
>>58195118
>Nintendo put a game on hold for like 3 years just because of the Russia/Ukraine
Everyone gives a shit about what happened in Ukraine and Russia, no one gives a shit about anything Indonesia
Those fucks at the TPCI would rather kill themselves than delaying their Pouch Abomination's release schedule
>>
>>58191554
A Pokmon exploratory/expedition concept sounds fantastic, for sure. I appreciate the spirit of the idea that since the environment itself isn't widely inhabited and cannot facilitate the standard Game Freak badge quest we have to fill in the progression and attractions elsewhere.
