This comparison is incredibly uneven. And not in either one's favor.Duel Monsters is a turn-based strategy game with holographic monsters. Pokemon battling in the anime is a fast-paced melee requiring actual raising and training, and pure luck/grit can turn the tables.Even more than other death battles, this one isn't comparable.

Atem is getting dogged in a fist fight against Ash. He has no chance. But his summons put him in a clearly advantageous position. It's like how Luffy would clobber the shit out of Reed Richards in a fist fight, but then Mr. Fantastic just pulls out his Ultimate Nullifier and erases Luffy from existence.
