A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading. What've you been reading? What've you been writing? What would you like to see more of?>Thread question:What's a mechanic, plot point, or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?>Previous thread:>>58174735
>>58195204>What's a mechanic, plot point, or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?I want in depth autism tier move creation. I want the MC to go over all the little bits as they work on a specific move for a specific purpose and how they build it. Not just "swift, but with a different type!" but like "changing the type energy of swift causes it to lose its locking effect and dissipate faster, so a new effect needs to be added that operates differently but provide similar results. Fire can draw itself towards other fire and with the right trigger can detonate when within range of a heat source. Not perfect since a lot of pokemon aren't warm." And then going over attempts, how they differed. You should feel like the character pulling out a complicated move later on isn't just the writer destroying their consistency for dramatic effect.
>>58195204>or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?The space program and how Fugg doesn't stop it, for years I read in some stories that it did and the reason why they have dimensional travel over space travel
>>58195279Reminds me of the trigger autism discussion the world trigger threads sometimes get into when the threads are slow.
>What's a mechanic, plot point, or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?Probably one of those TYPE-MOON inspired idea things. I like the idea after all.I'm sure everyone who's posted it wish they thought of it first too. Everyone and their mom seems quite interested in a piece of that pie.
>>58195343I fucking hate Type-Moon tho, if you don't play by their rules they get mad at you, if every woman doesn't fall for Shirou/Gudako they start screeching, if you don't make the Nasu side the strongest they start seething because their rules should apply to every setting in fiction
>>58195343>>58195364please explain the details, I don't know what this means. Are people summoning pokemon or are type moon characters going on a journey?
>>58195364Yeah been through the former for sure when I tried to make a Fate X Ben 10 story where Ben turns into Servants or some shit. Got someone screeching at me because Alaya would totally try to maul Ben ASAP for disrupting the balance or something. Checked with others and they said it'd be fine. The latter - I don't think I see it for a fanfiction context. There's a reason why they want the TYPE MOON-inspired path rather than actual TYPE MOON.
>>58195380They're taking the rules, concepts and the like of TYPE-MOON works and using them as a basis for a Pokemon fanfiction. So "Summoning Pokemon", likely of the more Legendary variety, could be among them.
>>58195387>Yeah been through the former for sure when I tried to make a Fate X Ben 10 story where Ben turns into Servants or some shit. Got someone screeching at me because Alaya would totally try to maul Ben ASAP for disrupting the balance or something. Checked with others and they said it'd be fine.Class Cards lmaoWhoever got pissy about it was a secondary and deserves to be scorned, slapped with a Sealing Designation, and hunted down by the Burial Agency.>>58195204>What's a mechanic, plot point, or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?That Digimon crossover one from a few months back, that I'm batting around ways to use
>>58195387>I don't think I see it for a fanfiction context.Right, kinda old by now but ten or so years ago High School DxD was a really popular series and flooded the crossover section from most fandoms with Naruto and Fate being the top two, anyways, the point is that DxD was basically a stronger setting than anything in Nasuverse before the FGO wank and scaling started but the Fate side abhorred that idea so they went around saying how nasu's magic system was much better or that DxD's excalibur was inferior to Fate's excalibur despite doing way more stuff and more stupid things. Then the Shirou wank stories happened with everything I said, the Nasu side weapons are just superior to anything in DxD, high ranking devils that are stated to destroy mountains with a flick are inferior to the most basic servant and since Shirou's powers are the WEAKEST but ACTUALLY STRONGEST he could copy any longinus even if they had a living soul inside. And Pokémon pic because I'm getting off-topic
>>58195343I'm currently reading FSN, it's fun but I still have a long way to go...
>>58195407>So "Summoning Pokemon"That sounds more like a Yu-Gi-Oh! Kind of thing
So how would you solve the Ingo plot? Him falling through a portal again or Emmet saying fuck it and having him go on a witch hunt to catch a Celebi?
>>58195972yeah i was legit planning a whole "find celebi to go home" thing where the protag & Ingo go to Johto and the protagonist invents the GS Ball specifically to mafuuba Celebi.
>>58194867drawing a gun is faster than drawing a Pokemon
>>58195972Emmet goes through the difficulty (and human sacrifice) of getting a Celebi and goes back in time but it’s to when Ingo goes forward in time, and Celebi leaves Emmet because drama, leaving them stuck in reverse.
>>58195972Just wrangle dialga into sending him. I think the question of how to get him back is less interesting than whether he would want to.
>>58195204>What's a mechanic, plot point, or world building in a fanfic or was posted in these threads that you wish you thought of or was expanded on?The reason why certain legends are within specific regions. Obviously it’s mostly video game shit, but stuff like the weather trio, Lugia, and Ho-Oh should be more varied. Same with why only Alola has ultra wormholes. More regions should have myths and lore about them.
>>58195364Some of you guys really care way too much about what other people think. Why are you guys so thin-skinned? You're in 4chan. Even on this reclined as hell 4chan that's still like being made out of titanium in comparison to most people.
>>58196114Nah bro, Fate autist are really something else compared to many others and I have seen them spamming in different stories for the exact same reasons I mentioned.
Hmm. I really should organize my worldbuilding, does anyone know a good method, beyond just writing it down in varying notepad files?I considered worldanvil, but you need to pay to keep things private
need more pervy ageswap stories itt
>>58196302Pirate one of the offline-friendly worldbuilding softwares or embrace the schizophrenia inducing labyrinths of notepad files. If you choose to stick with notepad files, make sure to use notepad++. It's customizable, has a built-in tab system so you can manage multiple files at once, and it's got neat formatting like coding programs.
>>58196302obsidian
>>58196302Folders, categorize the aspects of your setting. But keep in mind to write an actual fucking story too.
I want to write a pokemon contest scene but I feel like anything I do would fall flat when compared to a visual medium like the anime. How can I describe moves so the reader imagines them as beautiful without boring them to death with purple prose?
>>58195972Still hilarious to me the number of fics based around the idea of Arceus screwing Ingo over, instead of him just being a Faller like the game implies lmao.
>>58196718Make sure that there is emotion behind the words. Before bigger scenes, make the readers get used to thematic/deeper meanings to certain words/descriptors (especially if they're tied to the MC).That way you can sort of tone down big boy paragraphs.
>>58196718Write it like a magical girl transformation instead
>>58196718I like how this casually proves Pokémon can modify their moves.
>>58196796Creative move use is the best. I've got plans for a Fire-type to utilize Lava Plume as effectively a jetpack
>>58196142I know, I play FGO, against my better judgment. But again, if you hang out on this shithole, you should be able to ignore them without any issue, and if you aren't using their autism and butthurt to prop up your story and getting it out and around...
>>58196815I miss fatego, but I'm trying to cut gatcha fomo shit out of my life. The fact that I can't pick it up and play all the content I missed saddens me.
>>58195204Can't think of any. I usually am making ideas and sharing them, but its hard to tell if anybody is actually into them or not. But I'll keep doing so because I'm bored.
Say every legendary has to pick a 'chosen one' of their own. What picks who? Include non-godly legends like ultra beasts or the raidons if you want, I'm not a cop.It occured to me while thinking this that Koraidon matches Nemona and Miraidon matches Penny. Mewtwo matches with Giovanni a lot and maybe they would get along in the game universe as seen with RR, but I think Sabrina would be a good fit.
>>58197114Kyurem and Ghetsis since the dude doesn't give a fuck about truth or ideals and would scrap both for greater power. Kyurem wouldn't like or care about Ghetsis but play along to become whole again.
>>58196903There's always youtube playlists, that's the most important thing anyways.
>>58196718Simply don't do it.It's hard to grasp the stakes and it would get too annoying long-term.
>>58196718You can't, the apple thing wasn't a meme. You could describe the most beautiful scene but not everyone will be able to imagine it
>>58196718tbdesu I skim contest scenes if they're nothing but eye candy fireworks. Contest fights are okay, but the only time I've not skipped the "performance" round was in the fic "An Unlikely Partner" and that's because the performance was a play rather than a sparklepowder lightshow.
>>58197786>have spent my entire life thinking I'm super creative>upon introspection, I realize I'm a 4 at bestIt's so fucking over. I'm not even a human being, I barely have a soul.
>>58198042It's a meme image anon, that's not how it works
>>58197786Every time I try to imagine the apple, it turns into a perfectly ripe red tomato. What numbed does this correlate to?
>>58197786What if I kinda get the image to flash and then lose it?
>>58196796Sometimes I think about that episode where Grotle eats his energy ball to power up.
>>58198082A lot of pokemon simply don't know what they're capable of. It's why you teach me and I teach you. Those are profound truths.A grotle has no instincts to eat its own attacks to get stronger, but a human can guide them to that.
>>58198082Did the writers forget that buffing moves exist or?
>>58198070ADD>>58198072Your imagination is a sputtering flame consumed by early onset dementia. Your mind is slipping away from you slowly but surely, like an indistinct apple rolling out of your reach.
>>58198058It means I Will Never Be A Writer, actually. I should accept that the Gods didn't bless me with the spark of divine flame that he bestows on talented people. I'm an NPC that should live out the rest of my days as a medieval peasant plowing fields, or something similarly fitting
>>58198197Perhaps make The Stranger(L'etranger) but in pokemon?Or American Psycho if a bloody festival of meaningless carnage is more to your taste.
>>58198197Read more, write more.No shortcut, you aren't going to spit out your magnum opus in your first or second try.
>>58198197A “4 at best” is already way higher than 90% of the shallow, carbon copy game adaptation journeyfics that are out there in this space. Find some really unique and creative fics you like, then see what choices they make to make them different and then start from there, adding your own personal flair (and before you say “I don’t have personal flair!” I’ll just say what is something you want to see in Pokémon fanfics that doesn’t get addressed?). Maybe you don’t end up writing that specific fic, that’s fine. The process of formulating and brainstorming ideas is step one, and once you’re better at that everything else comes easier. I have a dozen ideas for stories I’ll never write bouncing around my head, but the process of building the foundations of those stories has dramatically helped me with my WIP and will benefit my story-crafting for the rest of my life.
>>58198230>>58198238This, imagination is a muscle.
>Outlining a conversation in a future chapter where the MC speaks with one of the kimono girls about the Legendary Beasts>Tries to explain to him how Ho-oh can restore life by using a candle as a visual aid>"If this candle is you, and the flame is your life, and I snuff it out, what is the remaining wax? The unburnt wick? Could it not be reignited? What, then, is a god?">"...A match?">"A hand."Did that by complete accident and pogged at my own composition book like a fucking dork.
Can the Magnemite line receive damage from ground moves or it's assumed that they're constantly using Magnet Rise?
>>58198454It’s those little moments of brilliant discovery that are so fucking cool.
>>58198454Holy shit, what fic?!
>>58198465If you punch the air will your fist reach the clouds?
>>58197786Not just imagination, they also needs the knowledge to know the words you're using and the meaning of your sentences. Keeping it simple and slightly vague on the specific details so they can fill in the blanks with their own imagination is best.
>>58198042Try to recall a traumatic or particularly visceral memory, the sight, smell and sound in your head is basically making use of the same faculties people use to derive images.
>>58198221Albert Camus wasn't an imaginationlet though
>>58198563I know, but Meursalt, the character is. I think anon could read the book for inspiration on that peculiar outward appearance, or perhaps go through a summary and consult opinion and reviews of it, he could then make a character as detached and as absurd as the wolrd around, never truly understanding and comprehending.
>>58198042I don't picture anything when I read, it doesn't matter lol
>>58198961Botbro...
>>58198961Hylic
>>58198961Based and mindlesspilled
>>58198961I heard your kind are really fast readers because you aren't slowed down by scenes playing out in your mind. In a way, I envy that. I could consume so much more slop if I was slowed by my imagination demanding a fitting pace to events.
>>58198961Based Type Null
>>58198961Imaginationkeks are at higher risk for schizophrenia and mental illness btw
>>58199032guy who can't help but imagine a pikachu every time he reads the word in fiction thinks he isn't susceptible to having his mind messed with.
I know a lot of what counts in web writing is consistent output but it's still crazy to read something I've seen multiple recommendations for and discover that it's written in terrible almost broken english.(I Just Want To Travel The World this time)
>>58199096If you read enough korean and chinese novelslop, you adquire the mental ability to turn a badly translated sentence into something coherent, and turn an abrupt and boring paragraph into something more interesting by filling in gaps and headcannoning details.
>>58199118Super Robot Wars Original Generations: The Moon Dwellers, my beloved...
>>58199096Good english is virtually meaningless when there's a power fantasy involved. As someone who used to read MTL slop, I was constantly edging brain aneurisms to get my fix of power fantasy.
>>58198961There's no point in consuming content if you're going to forget it in under 1 month. The only way to remember is to take your take.
What are the sites for reading jp fanfiction?
>>58199254>Good english is virtually meaningless when there's a power fantasy involved.Reminds me of the thousands of Naruto power fantasy slop floating around. Bonus points if it had sex involved. I'm assuming Pokemon probably has these too.
>>58199865fairytaildragonslayer is still pumping out Naruto slop and for over a decade. I'm impressed at the amount of commitment.
>>58199896That guy almost destroyed FFN as a whole after picking a fight with DBfags with his statsheets and it was glorious, it got so bad the site's owner had to get involved and erase it all, they also got his real name, address and job place iirc. And the bastard didn't stop, his Nardoslop was still the same shameless power fantasy.
What is the easiest and hardest region to make a journeyfic?
>>58200419Alola is probably the hardest. It's the smallest with the least amount to do. Not much of a journey when you can probably traverse the entire region in a week.Basically, start in Alola and then fuck off to some other region.
>>58198497One day it willi just have to cultivate my strengths
>>58200446What makes Alola smaller than any other region?
ESCALATION
>>58200446Alola is more like a vacation spot you go to after the big dick leagues
If a Rotom is allowed to bring an entire fucking lawnmower into the battlefield then a Revavroom should be allowed to bring a truck.
>>58201084I think Rotoms should be banned in general. From battle to technology.
>>58201263They do kinda ruin the fantasy of pokemon being these beings that take journeys and love and friendship to find and raise when one of the best pvp options is just everyone's phone.
>>58201263Rotom have ruined an entire generation of children.
>>58201263Porygon limbs wrote this
>>58201263In my fic [spoilers]the Rotom are going to strike. Violently.[/spoilers]
>>58201478>[spoilers]Nevermind erased fic deleted account I'm going to live in the mountains.
>>58199972Holy based, dragonfags BTFO'd in every website
I've been thinking of a setting for a fanfic that combines the best of both worlds.>A grimdark pokemon that takes itself a bit to seriously with injuries, training, danger>The MC is an isekai weeb that wants to use aura and the power of friendship because they think it would funny>hijinks ensues because it kind of works but only because the MC puts in actual effort, no BoD universe magicI feel like sinnoh would be the best bet given the enemy is actually evil, but kalos could work too, maybe unova if I were to lean into commercialism vs power of friendship but I never played black and white 1 or 2, I could never get by all the forced intro talking.
>>58201263To be fair, their power to bend reality and lower the shops prices when possessing a Pokedex is a bit too excessive
>>58202241So THIS was what it means to be a dexholder...
While working on my main fic I've been slowly toying around with a couple other concepts, the most fruitful so far being the Dissidia Isekai concept. This is what I've got so far for each character's initial Pokemon partner and the Summon they're imbued with. Any thoughts on tweaks/additions?>Warrior of Light - Onix - Leviathan>Firion - Cacnea - Cactuar>Onion Knight - Snorunt - Shiva>Cecil - Charcadet - Brynhildr>Bartz - Gimmighoul - Magical Pot>Terra - "Ditto" Mew - Asura>Cloud - Doduo - Chocobo>Rinoa - ?? - ??>Zidane - Eevee - Carbuncle>Tidus - ?? - ??>Jecht - Darumaka - Ifrit>Prishe - Mienfoo - ??>Vaan - ?? - ??>Lightning - Blitzle - OdinI'm mostly working off the original/Duodecim cast, so I'd want to add the rest of them eventually, any additions from NT or Opera Omnia haven't been decided.Additionally, none of the Warriors of Chaos have summons to imbue their Pokemon with, as that power comes from the crystals that Cosmos' warriors carry, which they neither possess nor need, just powering their team up with Chaos's raw strength.
>>58202684>I boy I wonder what anon is considering for my main nigga Squall>ohYou obviously have to give Rinoa a dog pokemon, this is non-negotiable.
>>58202703>boy I wonder what anon is considering for my main nigga SquallMy initial thought was Snorunt to become Froslass, but I ended up shifting Shiva to OK. Trying to do something thematic for him has kept me stuck, been leaning towards Pyroar but I haven't made up my mind.
>>58202703Thinking about this more, I believe that Absol would also work for Rinoa.>>58202708I mean, a lion pokemon is the obvious safe choice. Might be too safe though.
>>58202725>Might be too safe though. That's why I haven't settled, it feels too easy.
>>58202684>>Warrior of Light - Onix - LeviathanWhy Onix? Wouldn't something like Gyarados, Milotic or one of Clampearl's evos be more fitting for Leviathan? Curious about that.
>>58202684Possibly Sneasel for Vaan, Buizel for Tidus
>>58203010>LeviathanI want to give him something unique to do to not just make him a retread of Crystal Light anon's Wol, Leviathan was going to be a deliberate mismatch that helps facilitate exploring Cid and Shinryu's commotion to how they all wound up in the Pokemon world.>>58203065I like Buizel for Tidus, that's a fun one with the blitzball connection. Was also considering Popplio.
>>58203358>commotionConnection*Useless fucking autocorrect.
Has a journeyfic about a trainer who is kinda shit been written yet?I know spitfire starts off with one who can't control their pokemon but they were clearly just on a slow path to improving
>>58203638Those are the worst kind to read because the MCs never shut the fuck up about how shit they are and how much better everyone else is and they angst and whinge and it never ends. I'd rather read a shameless power fantasy than torture porn.
>>58203638>>58203687>"i'm sooo baaaaad">"noooo ratatta, you're out of quick attack energy again? I guess we lose..."
>>58203638Humblefags are even more annoying than the average power fantasy MC
>>58203975>>58203687All the strong characters from the games are also inexplicably drawn to them, but instead of learning from them they just cry and jerk off about how impossibly strong they are, and how they could never measure up to them etc.
>>58204054>a japanese isekai, but instead of being a wimp with cheats they're just a wimp
>>58204264At least Pofag lets his humiliation protag win most of his battles.
>>58203638What about one in which the MC is already a top tier battler but purposely loses every battle due to boredom?
>nooooo your character can't doubt themselves or tackle with insecurity, they're not human they're just a vehicle for me to live out my fantasies!!!!You have to be 18 or older to post here btw
>>58204294Idiot. That's not the issue. It's how much of a whiny baby those types of MCs are and how it drags on and on.
>>58204294>he hasn't read the real wimpficsYou're better off not knowing. They insidiously draw you in with what looks like a shonen's early weak-and-abused arc, tricking you into buckling in for the character growth and underdog comeback, only to never actually leave that arc even after several tens of thousands of words. You'll realize too late you got suckered into reading some degenerate's humiliation fantasy.
>>58203982power fantasy MCs are too strong to winhumblefags are on the move
>>58204294Let me put it this way faggot, you know the difference between Tsuna, Yugi (normal) and Deku?
>>58202708Crystal Light guy here, I also gave Squall Froslass (for Shiva) and Luxray (for Griever) when I made a team for him before. Also gave him I think Bisharp and Hawlucha (for Queztacotl). Can't remember the last two.
>>58203687What about MCs that are average in battles but pretend they're really good at it?
>>58203687>>58204314A short story with a concept like that could be really powerful, but long-term pity party is just bad writing yeah.
>>58204517Like Never Played Competitive?
>>58204294people here only hate PTV because it's too honest about what they want from a story
How often do you check for something new to read? What was the last new fic you checked out and liked?
>>58205027I only read thread fics and fetish stories. Latest is Po Town, but I haven't caught up yet.
Honestly kinda hard to pick a pokemon that's common and fairly weak but still interesting enough to write about.Too much temptation to go special snowflake because of the easier writing.
>>58204866What does that even mean?
>>58205382Ask yourself what makes a pokemon interesting to write about, and then ask how an 'uninteresting' could fulfill that same niche.
"Oh boy! It's a commenter poked a hole in the rules of the writer's universe and the writer must address the issue in the narrative now like it's always been a thing" episode!
>>58196142Sounds like an excuse someone mad butthurt would say. All of you autists are the same
>>58205382are you him?
>>58206148I always interpreted this as "Maybe you should switch something other than your Seismitoad into a Mega Sceptile who's just activated Solar Beam"You have to look for good opportunities for your pokemon.
>>58206260Nah, it's just a coping loser and an old fag. If he was a "truly strong" trainer, he'd be fighting with his favorites. He's pure cope.>I...I lost because... STATS, that's it! Ignore that Pikachu taking on the world champions Charizard, that doesn't count!
>>58206275anime shit doesn't count in games
>>58206280>-t "Gentleman"
>>58206275Wow, you mean a Pikachu took on a pokemon with an electric weakness? That's literally the fucking point you idiot, you need to find opportunities for your pokemon to shine.
>>58206291This would make an excellent comment for one of those 'forum chapters' where dumb people talk about the main characters.
>>58195364>I fucking hate Type-Moon thoNah, judging by your post you hate Nasufags.Although I get you, to an extent. A universe where your potential is meager and finite, and Earth itself is racist towards you... nah, not my cup of tea.
>>58206308Okay?Are you going to propose to me next?
That does it. I'm writing a PokeFate fic. Hope you dips are ready for Herakles wrestling a swarm of Druddigon.
>>58206394Don't give in. Think about it. You could write a Pokemon + Deltarune crossover instead. Think of how popular your fic would be, think of the ironman numbers.

>>58206407What would be the top 5 of most popular Pokemon X [series] fanfics? At least in terms of clicks that you would get.

>>58206708Why did he leave the Unova Elite 4 to fuck around other regions
>>58207174gambling debts
>>58207174>Be a member of the elite 4, supposedly among the 5 strongest trainers in a region>gets beaten by a teenager (N)>then another teenager (BW mc)>then another teenager (Iris)>then another teenager (BW2 mc)>all this on top of the worlds 2 most extreme terrorist operations being conducted on his watchDarkie probably couldn't handle the shame.
>>58207191Being beaten by kids is part of the job and life in the pokemon world, he needs a thicker skin
>>58207217An elite 4 is like the one league position where you're NOT required to lose to children.
Best and comfiest Elite 4 btw, their types compliment each other's so well and their personalities are unique enough to stand on their own. They're all around the same age too so you'd believe that they'd naturally be friends and can easily picture them bantering. I would watch a sitcom starring these 4
>>58205382You can write traditionally weak things to be strong, you know.
What about revealing the world speaks an entirely different pokelanguage so that you can give the MC unown powers using ENGLISH
>>58207843I'm doing that for a pokemon insert I'm workshopping. Due to a pokemon's natural universal translation he doesn't initially realize humans aren't speaking english.
Any writefags get some writing done today? Had a day off and got eight rough pages done so far, might be able to squeeze a couple more out before I call it a night.
Pokemon are built to be BETRAYED. It makes them stronger(trade evolutions) and it makes them grow stronger faster(trade exp buff). If you don't conspire with your childhood friend to immediately trade starters, then you are not taking training seriously enough. Power of friendship? What better friendship is there than helping someone who has been BETRAYED and making them stronger?
>>58207258Too bad Marshall exists. Ruins what would otherwise be a perfect E4.
>>58207868What's the written language? Japanese?>>58208389For the longest time I thought Marshall was one of those generic martial artist trainer class npc sprites
>>58208414>What's the written language? Japanese? The same golledygook we see in the anime and even occasionally in-game.Obviously these were primarily done save time and budget on localizing so many assets and to save them from having to get creative with the background writing, but it's also been canonized with the fact that the Unown alphabet is apparently a lost language that most people can't read anymore.
>>58208389Unova abolished segregation, you can't be prejudiced against dark type humans anymore anon...
I LOVE my friend Malamar! Have you written about Malamar yet? I think we should all write about our best friend Malamar.
>>58209187Just caught an inky and thought about writing about one but I forgot they lean into the bird beak stuff instead of the cool squid stuff
>>58209187>A Malamar in my fic beat the shit out of a legendary by exploiting a 4x weaknessI loved Malamar before it was cool!
>>58209187It almost exclusively includes mental re-programming and brainwashing, but yes, I've written about Malamar.
>>58209187Had a group of them as a 'boss' battle so to speak. They had their own small army of mind controlled pokemon and they nearly were able to make the MC kill his friend.
I have learned my lesson: Regen tanks vs. life-steal Pokemon do not make compelling battles.
>>58209902Sounds like a challenge. I like challenges, but I've got enough for right now. What I would do is focus on the vicious nature of something draining the life force of another juxtaposed against the determination of one that refuses to fall. At that point the battle goes from combat to a test of willpowers.
>>58209902They can, but mostly for the readers because the readers don't have to sit through the whole thing in real time.
>>58209902The only time I’ve ever seen that kind of fight written is as a joke.
>>58209926>>58209999>>58210010There was a Pokémon attacking the trainer and reinforcements on the way for the regen tank’s side so I was able to side-step the most boring parts of the battle and force a quicker end to things. But definitely not making that a centerpiece battle again. Status quos need to be constantly shifting in good battles (imo).
