Does anyone else think that Mythicals and Legendaries in ranked is boring as hell? Just the same overpowered mons every battle. People actually have fun doing these?
The only way Reg J could work is as a double restricted + one mythical format.There's no reason to not just use your Reg I team because the strats involving the mythicals are generally gimmicky. Even the best among them, Magearna, is generally going to use the scarf Annihilape final gambit gimmick to set up.

It's literally the exact same meta dominated by Calyrex and the bike lizards but now you occasionally have to deal with an Arceus or Magearna

Likely testing the waters for how they want to treat mythicals in future Champions formats.

>>58199557Sword and Shield's iteration of this was fucking retarded, as the only restriction was species clause. There was nothing stopping you from running 5 restricteds + Incineroar or Magearna. Making mythicals take up a restricted slot still seems a little like overkill, but it's probably fairer to those who don't have access to more mythicals and there are some mythicals (the aformentioned Arceus and Magearna) who are on the same level as many restricteds and this worth using. Ideally, you either have a tier system where you have 1 restricted (current ones plus Arceus), two second tier (mythical/powerhouses/paradoxes/other legendaries), and three of anything else, or you have a straight BST cap and try to build a team under that cap with no species banned. That latter idea would be very confusing for the average player and is hard to implement, but would be interesting.
