What makes Pokémon fans be more acceptable of dubs? For most anime, a lot of communities absolutely hate dubs, of the top of my head, Digimon fans hate the dub version. Yet, in the Pokémon community, almost no one watches the original japanese version, they are fine with the dubs.Considering most of them originate from the 4kids/TPCi, and posses many changes, unlike most other anime dubs, i find it a tad bit weird.
>>58205304Normalcattle & goysheep.
>>58205304Pokemon is the first anime a lot of kids ever saw and its turb-giga-normalfag status.
>>58205304How many anime threads do you retards need to spam? There are two generals for them, one of them is already obsessing over that nothing burgershit.Take your dub vs sub crap and shove it back into the containment zone.
>>58205316I'm asking here because this general knows more about the source material than other generals. Also, i'm not gonna get an honest opinion in /a/ because no one actually discusses anything there.
>>58205329This is a board, not a general. This board for some reason has two generals, one obsessing with the Ashnime and predictably repeating their shitshow over their different shows and also getting heated over the dub and sub. Try your luck there since that's the biggest investment you'll get into arbitrary matters.
>>58205304>What makes Pokémon fans be more acceptable of dubs?Pokemonfags are extreme normalfags and Pokemon is usually the only anime they watch.>almost no one watches the original japanese versionThat's not true, though. Anyone keeping up with the show watches it in Japanese, the dub is like a year behind.
>>58205304They're not weeb otaku that think they're actually Japanese. Instead you get the weirdos that think they're Pokemon.
>>58205426>Americans unironically think watching a foreign show or movie makes you think you're from its country of origin unless some random fags talk English over the footageThis will never make sense and you'll never not look like a retard when posting this.
I figure that most animefags look at pokemon like your typical person looks at a log of shit in the toilet, and the remainder doesn't give a shit.
>>58205304A lack of standards.I'm not even kidding, the average Pokemon fan genuinely just doesn't have standards. They'll acknowledge the poor voice direction or soundtrack replacements, but they won't do anything about it for the most asinine of reasons, such as "oh but I watch it via [insert streaming service here] and they don't have the Japanese version" (you can find it online quite easily) or "oh I would watch it subbed but I don't like the Japanese names". Or they're just a lazy idiot who doesn't like to read and would mash the A button when playing the games. It's the same reason why you had people defending SV to the death and unironically making the #ThankYouGameFreak hashtag trend on Twitter in response to the criticism about the games' state on release day.
Everyone ITT probably unironically thinks that Goku sounds better with voice of an almost 90 year old woman
>>58205487Depends on what part of the series we're talking about to be honest.Don't get me wrong, Sean is my preferred voice for Goku, but Funimation keep relying on layering takes together to try and make long screams and he's starting to lose his edge a bit. He complains about passing out in the booth a lot, too and he's only in his 50s. As long as the voice direction hasn't sucked, his deliveries have generally surpassed Nozawa's best work for sure. Especially stuff like his iconic Super Saiyan 3 scene and his work in Burstlimit, which I think are some of his best line reads, but his work in Daima fell short. I don't know if it was just the editing fucking with it or what, but Sean's screams for Daima Super Saiyan 4 Goku didn't hit the same as Nozawa's. Even Nadolny did some fantastic stuff when they weren't annoyingly layering her voice and proved that she's still fucking got it. I dunno if the years are just taking their toll on the guy, but Daima wasn't Sean at his best. 9.5 times out of 10 though, he's the better VA for Goku.
>>58205310this is the answer. they show the dub on kids channels in america, most pokemon fans watched it that way as kids and got used to it
