Legendary Dogs Edition

What is Pokémon Sleep?
Pokémon Sleep is a sleep tracking app that utilizes your smartphone and/or the Pokémon Go Plus + device to record data as you sleep. In doing so, you'll be able to meet a variety of Pokémon and fill out your Sleep Style Dex.

Be sure to post your Research ID so that you can add and share candy with fellow Anons. We are currently locked at 50 friends.

FAQ:
>How do Shinies work?
If you encounter a shiny Pokémon, you only need to feed it a single Poké Biscuit to befriend it.
>What should I spend my diamonds on?
Expanding your ingredient pockets, item pockets and Pokémon box. Long term you’ll want to max out ingredient pockets, only get half of max for items and max 100 for Pokémon.
>When should I use my items?
When you have a good grasp of the game mechanics. You may want to save up Recovery Incenses for event missions.
>What should I spend my sleep points on?
Poké Biscuits first or if you’re a premium user: Main and Subskill seeds and Great Biscuits.
>Can I play this game if there's a lot of noise where I sleep?
The game tracks sleep based on motion only; sound has no impact.
>A Pokémon I fed got full! Will I have to start from scratch the next time I find one?
Nope! Pokémon retain the level of progress they were at the last time you fed them.
>How do dream clusters work?
The higher your research rank, the more you get. You may want to hold onto them as long as possible.

Gamefreak should give us a free non shiny Suicune on scarlet and violet via mystery gift on level 40 with a serious nature.

Ever since the update, my fucking proc's went down the shitter.
The biggest giveaway is my My Main Skill Up + Skill Trigger S+M Pawmot only proc's 2-3 times a day since then compared to it's regular 6+ procs. I am fucking livid watching it keep dropping down to 60-70 energy by around 5pm.
Unless this is absolutely bad luck RNG since the update, I don't know what to say.
>>
>>58220752
ive had this with my gardevoir in the past, where ill get a few days of shit luck in a row. part of it may be that skill procs are calculated on the server side and could be inconsistent, part of it could be trigger rates having really wide bell curves.
>>
>>58220752
It's just luck. Mine procs 6 times a day except when he doesn't
>>
Let’s give it up for five weeks of no Sunday crits
>>
Could have been so close...

>>58220752
A lot of E4E performance comes from front-loaded triggers. Not getting both triggers in the morning has a sort of cascading effect throughout the day. Instead of having about 9 hours to proc again, each skipped trigger is only 3 hours away from dropping down to the next gathering speed tier.
>>
>>58221482
Always drop my screenshots... Apparently I haven't been getting good sleep this week, because this is the first time I've got so much Snoozing.

Congrats on the mathematical improbability. It always seems like breakfast is my best chance. Rarely do I get a dinner or lunch-only crit.
>>
10% area bonus at expert GG, could only scrape by master 2 this week.
Not worth pushing for M3 just for a Vulpix incense, but expert GG is gonna sting for a while.

Anywhere here's to two weeks of GG with GCTs and my busted electric / water / fire teams.

Ought to figure out where you're going, for the first week at the very least. The only difference between the boosts across both weeks, is that the first week is +3 main skill levels, and the second week is +5 main skill levels and 400k Snorlax starting strength (I think that's what it usually is).

>>58223575
It says right there, November, with the launch of the new island. I think we still get separate Pokemon lines for this month (September), and October (most likely a Ghost).

One thing the news didn't mention but might be worth noting is that in Expert mode the material drops are slightly buffed.
It's only a tiny buff though: +1 material for 2-star sleep styles, and +2 materials for 3-star and 4-star sleep styles.
>>
>>58223651
>>58223876
Expert gives increased shiny odds right? Seems like the place to go if you aren't hunting for a specific beast.
>>
>>58223876
I guess that's a non-insignificant amount. Still, you'll have to gauge for yourself whether you can hit the overall spawns necessary for Expert to be worth it. It actually might be worth a shot on the second week at least, since you get a static value head start. And it'll be especially worth it since the bonus should be sizeable compared to a low area/expert bonus. Not to mention set berries would make your week more predictable.

>>58223994
The biggest thing to consider for the event is if you can hit max spawns as fast as possible. Each spawn is worth event materials and some of the event missions are undoubtedly going to include tier landmarks, which are much harder to hit on Expert. Shiny bonuses are hardly noticeable anyways. Even with double or even triple bonus, you would still be lucky to see 1-2 if you went there the entire month.

>It actually might be worth a shot on the second week at least
Just keep in mind that the second week has a mission to reach Master 5, which is a pretty big ask in Expert mode. Even the Master 3 mission might not be feasible if you don't already have some area bonuses or are not using a Camp ticket.
>>
>>58224192
You WILL eat these tomatoes. - your Luxray, probably

Mine did the same thing earlier, which is fine for a Salads week I guess.
>>
>>58224862
Huh, then ironically it actually would be better to go this first week instead if you were planning to go to Expert at all. None of the current week's missions exceed getting to Ultra 4, with progress on them also carrying over to next week.
Master 5 on Expert GG is a little over 3m. And I barely get over 1m per previous weeks, so that's out of the question.
>>
>>58223876
Considering expert GG area bonus isn't going to exceed like 25% at best, regular GG with 75% is still the preferred destination.

>>58224104
The static head start is a fixed 125k if I recall correctly, which isn't insignificant for expert GG right now.

>>58224561
You'll probably end up sabotaging your cooking this week, and I don't see much value in hindering your first week progress to try and push your second week progress.
Your top-line gains will probably not be as significant as your bottom-line losses.

>>58224862
I couldn't even manage Master 3 at expert GG last week, but I hit Master 5 after lunch at regular GG today.
The vast difference is crazy.
My current expert GG record is 2.5m. I could probably beat that if I went this or next week, but I'd prefer to maximise the event exchange rewards.

Incidentally, six legendary incenses for 80 materials each, makes it really easy to run a legendary encounter each day of the first week. I need to think about the ideal encounter strategies, particularly since I already have observed all three sleep styles for each beast, and have level 50 Entei and Suicune whilst I'm hunting for a worthwhile Raikou. Materials are also needed just for premier biscuits.
I have a Raikou that I can fix with a mint, but when they announced this event I decided to hold on.

im traveling without my sleep phone half of this week and im deeply ashamed of not getting gg m20 yet after 2 years of playing so i thought about berry blasting this week and pushing for it on the second one

Just FYI, it appears the dogs, or at the very least their incenses, can be used on any event island. This is an old Entei incense being set on Power Plant.

While you can find them all there through incredibly rare natural spawns, I feel like regular Greengrass ends up being a bit stunted since there are fewer 3* styles there. So even though you can hit your 8-spawn limit on the first day basically, I think you end up losing out a bit later in the week in overall shards/xp/manes.

Is anyone still bothering to feed Darkrai for seeds?
It just feels like a fool's errand in its current state, with the resource costs not being worth it unless you have perfect luck, or whale, or just have nothing else worth feeding when he appears.
>>
shiny mareep! and it's not complete ass! better nature would have been nice though
>>
I just started yesterday->today. Is it a good time to start with the event happening or am I never going to see the dogs?
>>
>>58228474
You should be able to catch two of them minimum. I don't know how it is with starting pokemon though and they probably won't be any good. The dogs are meant to compliment a mono type team so they wouldn't be very useful for you on the near future. You get two weeks so there's plenty of time
>>
>>58228474
I mean, it's better to start sooner rather than later. The dogs are regular spawns outside of the event, even if they're really rare. So you'll always have opportunities to get them and the fact that they're re-running them right now just means there's a good chance they'll be re-run again in the future.

>>58228554
If you're just starting out, I think it's more realistic to only be able to get 1. He'll be dealing with fewer, lower value spawns, which will result in fewer event materials to exchange.
>>
>>58227664
it's a waste of time especially since his dark specific ability doesn't even help your other dark types
>>
>>58228892
I think completing the tasks should be able to get him enough. I started playing last suicune event and managed to get 3 incenses and enough to catch him twice
>>
>>58228474

>>
>>58227664
I feed it if it shows up, but I don't dump biscuits like I did previously. Mine basically rolled as good as you can get it, but it would be a long time before unlocking other slots could be used, even if I decided to go all-in. Aside from getting a good lv 50 ability, it might only be worth re-rolling the initial ingredient slot, then skipping over to the level 60 slot if that's possible.

I got this pretty cute combo this morning.

>>58230504
Some obese youtuber made some calcs and came to the conclusion that Extra Helpful mons benefit the most from having BFS out of basically every other pokemon in the game because of the skill targeting themselves.
Honestly I probably agree. I have a lv60 Arcanine with BFS and he does really well, and since he's so high level, activating on himself is pretty good too.
>>
>>58230504
Extra Helpful is definitely a "bonus" tier skill. It doesn't particularly benefit from skill levels and it requires your entire team to be actually decent at gathering normally in order to have any sort of pay off. Arcanine, Gallade, and Jolteon all need BFS to be with using; they're all quite fast, so the extra berry really helps their gathering and acts as a buffer if the skill hits them too. Even though it's technically one of the strongest scaling skills in the game, it really does have to jump through a lot of hoops for a high roll.

Pawmot is 100% the E4E healer to run this event, if you've got one. Electric (and fire / water) types getting bonus skill trigger chances and levels.
Which incidentally, also really good for any Charizard or Blastoise you might be running.
>>
>>58231332
It also stops. I've dropped it off my bed and had it cut my sleep off due to the "unusual deep sleep" or whatever the message said.

Event has been going well for me. Just hit 2m strength at 11:30 AM on wednesday at GGEX, and I've been getting a ton of dream shards. The mons I've been finding are nothing special but that's ok.
I also randomly stumbled on an Entei last Sunday which was pretty neat.

To make it simpler, I feel like a Contrary skill would just randomly cycle between dumping a bunch of berries, ingredients, and whatever you want to represent "skill" types... it would probably end up being dream shards or something.

I don't suppose we have any inkling of plans for non-neutral mints from the data mines do we
>>
>>58233706
Data mining virtually never reveals anything except the immediate thing being launched, and even then just selective things.

The BFS Suicune I run is actually Speed Up Skill Down, because ironically it turns out that Helping Speed M + Skill Trigger M + BFS pulls it out of skill trigger deficit, and performs better just for being very fast. The base skill trigger rate is low enough that it turns out to work better without neutralising the nature.

Wondering how many incenses I should end up using, especially since we'll also get a restock of cheap incenses and biscuits next week. And I guess I gotta figure out which ones I'll actually try to capture.

>>
>>58234815
>we'll also get a restock of cheap incenses
We do?
>>
>>58235423
presumably. it's happened every event with the dogs, they restocked the cheap incenses (and biscuits?) second week. nothing indicates that this event would be different
>>
>>58234815
So, among the 14 days of the event, you can only use 1 Pokemon incense per night. Given the cheapest incenses, even if you're not trying to capture one, I imagine you'll get at least 9 "cheap" ones throughout the event (3 of each). So if you're just going to be economical, you'll probably just use at least the cheapest 6, then keep 1 of each for future use.
There are still so many other things to exchange for that it's probably not even worth that much to go deep into the incenses and biscuits. Since all the dogs are piled up across both weeks versus a single dog over 2 weeks, you're going to end up with fewer Research Materials/Manes to spread around. Mainly, there are 3 Evolution Stones (360) to purchase instead of just 1, and the Main Skill Seed (350?). Of course, since there are more cheaper incenses, you're able to get a bit of a "rebate" whenever you use one, but it won't really amount to "extra" points to exchange.

Speaking of points, I'm on Power Plant and I think I've averaged about 80 materials per night so far. ~70 for Sleep Research, then ~10 for Community Research.
>>
I swear I’ve gotten like one e4e proc this week outside of my initial morning ones, been going to bed with the team at like 70%. How much power am I missing out on like that? Or do I even wanna know
>>
>>58235741
7pm my pawmot is at 150% with an energy recovery down nature
>>
would it make sense to use a dog incense on monday/tuesday together with a friend incense to maximize the chance of the dog being hungry?
and do the helping speeds of this gastly negate the ingredient down nature? looks pretty good to me otherwise
>>
>>58236234
if you're going ingredient down, it has to have bfs. gengar is so fast and with a low ingredient % that you should probably only run with bfs anyway

as for the hungry dogs, you could do that and it would work, but i think using incense when you can hit 2 or 3 star sleep styles is better and just master balling if you want to try your luck on them not being shit
>>
>>58236234
If you're actually trying to capture any of the dogs, then yes, using a Friend Incense with them is best. I like to push all my attempts later in the week to hopefully get a higher tier sleep style and more rewards out of their appearances though. If you're not near those breakpoints, then the odds of your Friend Incense lining up with your Pokemon incense are still practically pretty similar, no matter which day you go for.
>>
I have 2 Feraligatr almost at level 50, yet I still need better. Both will crumple when they reach 50 since that's when they get extra Ingredient Finder.

>>58238547
Expert bonuses for the Research Materials really don't seem like they would amount to much over the standard areas unless your Snorlax Strength is just so incredibly high that it can't even roll much better on standard maps. I suppose it's just less of a punishment for scoring lower than usual. And then once you get your Expert Bonus built up, it should be the go-to place if you have a decent spread of Pokemon. By that time however, we should also have the new island available.
