I like the implications of him repeatedly shuffling his team around, he slowly falls from the path of a trainer despite being perfectly decent because of his own unrealistic expectations and chooses strength over bonds with his Pokemon. At the end he boxes Dubwool and you know he's totally lost by then.
I just wish that someday we got a rival that started as a close childhood friend, and they're very friendly at the beginning, only for them to start growing bitter and resenting the player over the course of the game for being the better trainer, and culminating in an absolute cunt of a person who becomes barely recognizable from the friend you formerly had (until you finally beat some sense into them)I know that kieran exists, but his turning into an asshole wasn't gradual, you just mindbreak the guy and he does a 180, I want a slowburn
