>ITT we confess things that make us feel like idiots
I always forget Ice was a Gen 1 type and not a later addition.
>>
>>58226240
Fucking how?
>>
>>58226243
I am stupid. I only remember when I remember the birds.
>>
>>58226240
I thought Slugma and Skarmory were Gen 3 pokemon for the longest time
>>
The type interactions I always forget are
>Bug against Ground, Poison, and Fighting
>Rock and Steel against Fighting
>Poison and Ground against Bug
>>
I thought suicune was an ice type and aurora beam was its signature move until like 2018
>>
I thought Groudon was a fire-type
>>
>>58226240
I used to think Machamp was a Fighting/Rock type because he was found in caves
>>
>>58226240
Golduck not being psychic type
>>
>>58226243
Just look at your picture
>all water/ice types who could get away with being pure water
>>
>>58226240
When I played gen 1 as a kid I didn't realize Pokemon had levels until halfway through the game
>>
>>58226240
I can't confidently spell Marill, along with many other Pokémon, unless I look it up first. It doesn't help that so many of early Pokémon names were just corruptions of common words, a lot never look correct to me.
>>
Thanks to Pokemon I misspelled 'palette' for years
>>
I didn't know physical/special was type-based until the split was revealed during gen 4 prerelease season. I had always assumed it worked that way and can't think of anywhere in-game where that was explained, if there was an npc that mentioned it they were either tucked away somewhere or didn't go into enough detail for it to stick.
>>
I thought ground and rock were one type for the first two gens
>>
>>58226249
everyone did because johto didn't let you use them
>>
I always called Groudon "Groundon"
Also I though it was fire type
>>
I was confident that Beautifly was a gen 4 addition to the Wurmple line for almost a decade. I don’t know why; I had the internet. Despite playing the games endlessly, I never got to use a Beautifly in gen 3. I just kept rolling Dustoxes and thought it was the only outcome.

>Thanks to Pokemon I misspelled 'palette' for years

>>58226683
Were you catching Wurmples or Cascoons?
>>
My first two times playing RSE I got hard-lost twice in the same place. After clearing Norman's gym, I was prompted to go to Wally's house to progress in the story. That one NPC that's been tailing the whole time actually lives somewhere. Astounding!

The punch line is that it was just next door to the gym I just beat.

>"What about the sign?"
DW.png
>>
>>58226699
not him but I always WANTED beautifly in gen 3 but got dustox every single time catching wurmples. I was even convinced that cascoon and silcoon could evolve into either dustox or beautifly because I was 100% convinced I had had a silcoon that evolved into dustox. I went through dozens of them and eventually just gave up.
>>
>>58226699
Wurmples. I never found Silcoons in the wild, either, mind. I really liked Wurmple, though. Thought it was cute (still do)
>>
>>58226243
Genuinely what's so icy about any of those? lapras and cloyster don't even have an ice shell

live in the "arctic", all cold-water species
>>
>>58226240
I find your thought process pretty perplexing. For me it goes like
>Fairy added in VI
>Dark and Steel in II
>everything else in gen I (default)
So even if I were to not actively remember anything I’ve related from gen I it would still be the default option in my brain.
>>
>>58226240
>>58226246
And what did you think Articuno was, pure flying?
>>
>>58226745
>I only remember when I remember the birds
>>
i thought shroomish was grass poison for fucking ever, and even still i make that mistake sometimes
>>
>>58226733
>clams - live everywhere
>seals - live everywhere
>loch ness monster - lives in Scotland
>>
>>58226750
To be fair, it doesn't really matter unless you're a LC-fag. Would be dumb if you thought the same for Breloom, because one of its abilities is Toxic Heal.
>>
>>58226746
I'll give you that only Jynx (who is barely in the fucking game) and Articuno are the only two Pokemon where ice is not overshadowed by their water typing, but then there's the drink girl that gives you TM19, which is one of the most powerful TMs in the entire game.
>>
>>58226592
skarmory is obtainable in johto, it's just a silver exclusive
>>
I need some more context here OP, when you see something like Lapras or Jynx is your first thought that they got their Ice type added retroactively or that they are still pure Water and Psychic?
>>
>>58226762
it matters in like, an actual game where i think confusion is super effective or whatever
>>
I swear I'm from a reality where flying type moves are super-effective against ground Pokemon, and somewhere along the line I traveled sideways in time to a world where flying Pokemon only have a defensive advantage.
>>
>>58226774
I think of them as Water and Psychic for a second, yeah. It doesn't help that Arcticuno is the only one that seems "Ice-y" to me.
If I actually think, I remember, but how often do you see Gen 1 Ice types, really?
>>
>>58226787
I could have sworn that Charizard didn't get its second type until Yellow, in addition to not being able to learn fly; but apparently it was just the latter. (Unless Red/Green?)
>>
>>58226795
I see. I can kind of get it with something like Lapras, but when I think of something like Cloyster the first thing that comes to mind is Shell Smash Icicle Spear so I actually associate it more strongly with Ice than Water.
That said I don’t really need to think of an Ice type to think of Ice as gen I. Dark and Steel being added in gen II and Fairy in VI were pretty big events in my mind so everything else just defaults to gen I without me having to really think about it.
>>
>>58226240
I thought
>Rayquaza: Grass/Dragon type
>Groudon: Fire/Ground type
>Kyogre: Water/Ice type
>>
>>58226456
this is the dumbest one so far
>>
>>58226240
i thought ground resisted fire until i confidently said steelix takes neutral damage from fire on here last year and got fucking roasted
>>
>>58226957
Ground and Rock has so many parallels, I forgive ya. The fact that ground resists poison & rock resists bug, but not vice-versa still trips my brain up to this very day.

I thought Mew was under the truck...
>>

It's Dark because it's a fucking phony pretending to be Psychic/Fairy
>>
>>58226240
sometimes i use fighting/nomal type moves on ghost types in wifi battles

not pokemon related but my first exposure to the first super mario bros was through some weird online flash game port and i thought it was some new fanmade game of mario or something

For whatever reason, I cannot get my brain to accept that bug does half damage to fighting instead of doing double damage.
>>
>>58226772
You meanTM13
TM19 is seismic toss, which is only decent in some species
>>
>>58227113
Yeah. I just remember the girl gives you Tri-Attack, Rock Slide, and Ice Beam. Rock Slide had shitty distribution and didn't have flinch properties back then. Ice Beam in comparison was god-tier because freeze was basically instant death. I figured that was the last type someone would completely forget about.

>>58226240
I cried when I was a kid because I couldn't get my Caterpie back from the Daycare man. Turns out I didn't have the money
>>

>The fact that ground resists poison & rock resists bug, but not vice-versa still trips my brain up to this very day.
both resist poison and neither resist bug, LMAO
>>
>>58226240
I feel like I still don't really have the type matchup chart memorized outside of being aware of what's super effective against what, and so in battle I often expect certain type resistances that don't actually exist.
>>
>>58226240
I couldn't beat Wallace's gym puzzle as a kid and I had to ask my mom to help me

Ironically only a third of the Pokémon in that image are ice types, and nobody cares about Dewgong.
>>
>>58227920

Dewgong is the most Gen 1 looking pokemon from Gen 1
>>
>>58227966
More like gen one-color. At least Ditto has an excuse for looking so simple.
>>
>>58227139
I used to be afraid and stayed away from the Daycare man because I thought he'd steal my pokemon, kek.

I thought rock was immune to electric for a while because of all the rock/grounds
>>

i still think of pokemon base on their card type
>diglett is fighting

>>

I didn't know until gen 6 that rock resists poison.
>>
>>58226240
It took me a long while to realize that Rock isn't immune to or even resistant to Electric because Brock and all of the Hikers set the curve.

That's why Primal is one of the most based legends to have ever faced the franchise.
