Didn't get to ask, so why did Giratina summon that SI-LVER?
>>58228710because it was bored, no kidding that's the whole reason
>>58228710it was boredand also now that the mewtwo movie has turned into a big nothingburger it's calling him to sinnoh as a cliffhanger
>>58228995Hilarous, so he wanted some edgy guy to do ESCALATION while everyone else keeps playing with the kiddy gloves >That grunt crying after being stabbed by SI-LVER because nobody tried to do that before
>>58229025To be fair if there is a god of edge its Giratina.
>>58227685My wild take is I see Arceus as an author more than an all-ruling God. It created the world of Pokemon, and all the living things in it, but it didn't have a will to enact in doing so much as a desire to see the stories its creations would make for themselves. It won't solve a hero's problems for them - but it IS rooting for them.>"You can't be serious." The boy shuddered, patting her arms, her hair - every inch of her, to make sure she was really there, against her squirming protests. "You have to know, you're - you're a god!">And what does a god know of souls? I can see the heat rising off of your skin, perceive the glow of you in infared. I can hear the pumping of your heart, the rivers running through your arteries. The ragged, quivering breaths inflating your lungs. The snaps of neurons firing in sequence to order your thoughts. Are any of them your soul? I do not know; I did not sculpt you, child, for to know everything of you is to deny the mystery, and sap all life from you. I cannot see her soul, nor yours. I do not know what it is.>"Then how did this happen?">You harnessed the greatest power I know, child. You imagined it.
>>58229025Name 1 series where Escalation is explicitly a thing.I'll start, Borne of Caution casually mentioned it when dealing with Mt Chimney
The fuck is ESCALATION anyways? Like the jump of power in the average shounen?
>>58229240Tearing the heavens
>>58229268Think, anon! If two trainers are having a high-stakes unmonitored pokemon battle, what's something they could do to ESCALATE the situation?
Reading BoC and half of the stuff the protagonist discovers is so dumb. Like there's no way this wouldn't be already widely known in a world with pokemon professors researching them
>>58229491There could be a way. All Nutrtionman has to do is be the first one to invent... le scientific method.
I hate gravity training when MC is the one to discover it like if it wasn't the most obvious thing
Why yes I will have my pokemon train by simply battling each other with no special regimen or plan.Pure adversity shall see them become strong.
>>58229522Same. It's so narrow minded too, don't these juniors recognize that the body must endure more than one type of hardship to reach the peak? Gravity is nice, but it must be paired with lava pools mixed with poison and ghostly curses, otherwise your body's cultivation will be maladjusted. The man who trains by running around the mountain will eventually find that one of his legs has grown longer than the other, ruining his ability to run elsewhere.
>>58229491In the actual Pokemon canon aren't professors discovering stuff all the time? Gen 2 especially since it's the first expansion so there's a lot of "obvious" stuff that they treat as the first time ever.
>>58229590they're discovering stuff like new evolution with conditions though not basic stuff like feeding and calming down pokemon.PTV has mostly the right idea, Oak is dead in that so must stuff never gets discovered which makes the isekai bullshit knowledge feel much more plausible.
>>58229590That's just gamefreak laziness and incompetence. Originally there were only 150 known pokemon yet we now know that the current regions have had contact with each other for at least a couple hundred years."You'll buy it anyways" is why Gamefreak doesn't care.
>>58229612I wouldn't call it outright laziness, but it's a bit of early-installment weirdness.Still, at least Pokemon 2 was always expected to become a thing, so they should have mentioned "150 Pokemon in the whole Kanto" or something.
>>58229612>>58229640The guys making the lore decisions back then really didn't put any thought into it, which is largely why the anime writers had to make decisions by the seat of their pants that became mainstays in the franchise to this day (Pokemon saying their own names being a prime example). It wasn't until TPCI got established that they really formalized things, but it wouldn't surprise me if the same idiots doing the early work held tremendous sway over how the franchise has been portrayed for decades now. This is all largely to say I've always viewed the Pokemon brand as "missed potential, the franchise" even though it's the most successful multimedia franchise ever. If they had smart people running it, it would literally be unstoppable.
>>58229701>If they had smart people running it, it would literally be unstoppable.Lets be real, its already completely unstoppable and they know it.
>>58229752You're not wrong unfortunately.
>>58229573>The man who trains by running around the mountain will eventually find that one of his legs has grown longer than the other, ruining his ability to run elsewhere.just run another lap, but going the other way aroundevery time is two laps, one forwards and one backwards, and the land itself will be seen from multiple perspectives.
>>58229772>for every hour of 1000x gravity, you must spend an hour in .0001x gravitybeing a non-psychic gravityfag must be awfully inconvenient.
>>58229778One must have balance within themselves. If its a pain to achieve, all the more gain.
>>58229787Or you can just feed your pokemon vitamins and bottle caps
>>58229240My stories actually tend to deal with concepts of escalation, but in a non meme way. The heroes don't want to have to hurt others, but there is a fine line between being able to solve things non-violently and letting things get worse.
>>58229240Pofag here Latest Prince of Poop Town chapter had quite a bit of it. Although I didn't want to use the meme word.
>>58229240Technically there was a bit of Escalation in my fic when a grunt got frustrated the MC was putting up too good a fight in a Pokemon battle and might get them caught by the authorities, so he just cold-clocked him while his partner was preoccupied.Probably doesn't truly count though because the higher up villains give zero shits about killing.
>>58229491Speak of the devil. Nutritionslop actually updated today. The Giratina and Arceus namedrops are still retarded.
>>58229998After taking the wrong turn on QQ, I stumbled upon your fic, Poanon. Is there any reason why you didn't host it in the nsfw section?
Has anyone been keeping up with Hard Enough? I dropped it after the Will fight.
One complaint I have about reincarnation isekai is the "why didn't they become a god at everything with a headstart."I've decided the answer is, originally the age was 10, but was later raised to 15 because low age starts caused personalities to be affected. Red being silent all the time but not actually mute is given as an example. Plus positively, more trainers can raise pokemon stronger if they start later with a more stable foundation. Most people agree with this, given all the prior world conflicts and child soldiers during 'The Great War' and extremists afterwards. Team Rocket was a directly in response to the instability after the war, and later the reason the law was changed across the league.I liked what IWTTS had going before everything was secretly gayEnough grimdark to make it serious, an explanation for why trainers start later, avoids pedo concerns with 10 year olds (can use 18 or 15), and Mr Isekai can spend his childhood awakening aura and coming up with miscellaneous life skills the story can comedically bring up at random.>can't train pokemon seriously underage>can't battle because it's illegal and you get fined>school is mostly a refresher and a reminder that MC is different>focuses attention on mastering aura and learning random skills>"Of course I know how to weave baskets with weeds, you never know when you'll need to weave a basket underwater."
>>58230543I don’t want it to be lewd, and I assume it has to be in the lewd to be in the NSFW section. Posting it to Spacebattles (finally) in a couple chapters. Got good view counts considering it’s in the SFW section.
>>58230840NTA but it doesn't "have to" be, a lot SB writers rip their SFW works straight into NSFW with a "no lewd" tag or even without any sort of indication and get away with it. A minority will be anal about it but QQ mods have repeatedly said they don't give a fuck about it.
>>58230806>>focuses attention on mastering auraYeah but what is aura?
>>58230875Aura is what surrounds a trainer when they don't shower for a long time. It can be overpowering to people with weak auras, which is why the league has banned aura wielders.
>>58230866Good to know. I debated adding some sex scenes in QQ and as Ao3 side stories. Maybe I do a sex scene in like 10-15 chapters and ask QQ mods to move it when that happens. I’m still really pleased with the engagement on the red headed step child part of the site.
>>58230933Just saw “When is a Spoon a Sword” is in the NSFW section and there isn’t even a romantic subplot. Lolwut
>>58231071The best sort of malicious compliance I've seen is writing porn omakes of their fic and then posting it in their thread, bonus if its a canon intimate relationship so they look like a dickhead if they complain about the nsfw thread finally getting nsfw.
>>58229778What kind of advantage can zero gravity training offer? I was thinking about what astronauts or athletes do underwater but water itself has water resistance which you wouldn't normally encounter in a battle.
>>58231658>which you wouldn't normally encounter in a battleYou'll do it in the new gen game, Pokemon Atlantis
Is a Pokemon capable of powerful mass hypnosis a good case for loicenses and regulations existing? Not everyone should be running around with a brainwashing biological weapon, after all. Just the governmentment :)
>>58231965>Malamar’s brain has become enlarged as a result of Mega Evolution. Greatly enhanced psychic power overflows from its body, emitting a bright glow. This vividly colored light further amplifies the Pokémon’s hypnotic abilities, allowing it to freely overwrite the personalities or even memories of others—a terrifying power that can make someone seem like an entirely different person.>Its glowing, undulating tendrils are able to pick up on the feelings of those around it. It prefers battling with efficiency, using its powerful intellect to analyze the situation with levelheadedness as it fights. Mega Malamar views others—even Pokémon Trainers—as its pawns. If it disagrees with an order given to it by a Trainer, it will sometimes respond by hypnotizing them, making this an incredibly difficult Pokémon to interact with. What a fucking asshole
>>58230875Aura is the distortion reflection that extends from the past forward. It's why aura guardians have those time flowers, they are just recordings across time. Human's don't have a type that defines them, so they use their 'human aura' to manipulate other auras. Aura vision is typically limited and thus you get psychics and hexers, but a pure human could technically master everything if they don't unbalance themselves. That's why arceus uses plates externally like tools instead of a part of himself.
>>58231965Isn't Malamar evil, as in real evil and not "muh trainer is evil not me, I'm just loyal"?But yeah it should
>>58232591it literally has the word evil in french in its name
>>58232600So do dark types in nip but they kept saying that evil Pokémon aren't a thing
>>58232591the "no pokemon is evil" thing is just to get satan fearing boomers to shut up
So you guys think we're getting a new psychic human?
>>58232852nope, they invented vaccines for that
Are crossovers really flawed as a concept? Or is just the execution?
>>58233186Execution.
>>58232093Purely socioeconomic factors btw
>>58233186All things are execution. No concept can't be done well. Just what people consider a success will be different. Some of the best stories, shows, and games have stupid sounding concepts. It just goes unnoticed because execution is done so well. Four mutated giant turtles are also teenagers and ninjas? A man dresses up as a bat to solve crime? Monsters with godly powers are caught by children for sport? The list goes on.
>>58233186What you're experiencing is a disconnect between visual and written. Anything can be good when visually seen, but you the READER (not writer) have to create your own images. That introduces issues as not everyone can do that well. Imagination is a skill like any other.
>>58233039Vaccines cause psychic powers idiot, wake up mareeple.
>>58233666Is that why Psychic is strong against Poison? They use their jabs against them?
>>58233705Yeah. But the pokemon world is so sanitized vaccines have become obsolete. The few who get their hands on the remaining vaccines develop psychic powers.
>>58233768I think you're thinking of captain america serum
>>58231148Post an example, I feel like this is a perfect activity to engage in for a thread like this.
>>58231965>look at it>you lose, possibly wake up a week later with your kidneys missing How the fuck is the average trainer supposed to counter this shit?
>>58234350By being stupid
>>58233186One of my favorite fics, to the point it got me to cry a few times, was RWBY crossover. Was just simply what if the RWBY characters were Trainers. Simple and to the point.I agree with the other anons. All about execution. What I found is the issue with crossovers most of the time is that they become way too big for their own good by trying to mix-up EVERYTHING and secondly heavy focus on powerscaling faggotry.
>>58234455>proclaims feels for a fic>doesn't post the fic

"Oh boo hoo you said something I don't like, bannn~". Absolutely garbage writing. The chapter would have been all the better if they didn't overuse garbage like this. What a terrible way to ruin immersion by making everyone act like a bunch of reddit spacebattle mod faggotsEven jokingly, the joke falls flat, and 6 times? 6?
>>58234594Boldores and Broomsticks (is the only RWBY crossover I know).>>58234610The more that forum chapters become a thing, the more each writer that includes one will have to up the ante to make theirs unique, meaning they'll just get weirder and weirder.
>>58234681>they'll just get weirder and weirder. That makes sensealso it had shit formatting. Like what the fuck, you're going for the easiest chapter imaginable and you can't be assed to format it?
>>58234685It's not surprising. Anyone thinking that forum chapter joke is worth typing out likely doesn't understand a number of other things. Is the Nemona SI fic?
>>58234699yeah lol, I actually like it, but I think the chapters have been getting a little off track. It wouldn't surprise me if this chapter was to buy more time to write actual stuff. I enjoyed muscle diancie though, that shit is hilarious. Sounds like something that would be joked about but never actually added.Totally fair, but just format it. I might have overlooked the mod stuff if it actually was formatted, but they stuck out like sore thumbs when reading.
>>58234685To be fair, depending on the site it can be a real pain to format. FFN in particular is awful about it because it automatically removes any line that has too many special characters in it.
>>58234737Isn't there a special importer, or is that AO3 or something?
>>58234754FFN has an import button but it will still erase lines that trigger its special character sensibilities.IIRC, even something as simple as ------------------------ will get axed.
>>58234681>Boldores and BroomsticksI read this one, didn't like it
>>58234737I've definitely noticed FFN's formatting will have glitches that aren't found on other site's versions of my stories. It's likely why Ao3 is a favorite place to post for writers, it's the most consistently seamless place to post.>>58234720Not trying to hate on the story overall, there's not a lot of good content in the fandom. This also screams "filler for word count" to me. Updating twice a week with consistency with the wordcounts the author does would be massive undertaking.
>>58234806>Updating twice a week with consistency with the wordcounts the author does would be massive undertaking.Yeah, can't fault someone for not wanting to do that when I myself don't want to do that.
Pacing is telling me I need to end the chapter after a pretty heavy scene, but just a scene later I'd have the gnarliest cliffhanger/reveal of the story so far that I'd really like to end the chapter on.The writer's dilemma.
>>58235300if its a good cliffhanger, extend the chapter a bit for it. Cliffhangers aren't bad when they're backed by extra content. It feels less of a ripoff and more like something bigger is coming.
>>58235544It is (likely) a top five cliffhanger in the entirety of the story. I realized there's a kinda weird scene I have to throw into the next few chapters anyways that could be thrown into a short, three scene chapter. This current chapter has a lot of meet and greets with new characters, and before the cliffhanger happens I'd have to introduce a bunch of new characters again which will likely be overwhelming. So I think I'll just go with a shorter chapter than usual, putting the weird scene in there to pad out the word count before dropping the cliffhanger.

>>58236630hibernation

So what's the difference between arrogance, pride and confidence when writing a powerful trainer?
What do you guys think, is it better to plan out the story in its entirety before beginning to write? Or is it enough to have a core concept and characters that you can start writing and let the story flow naturally?
>>58237419Results. Arrogance is just pride that can't measure up to reality, pride is just confidence that has consumed a person.

>>58237420It really depends on your style of storytelling. My plans always tend to escalate more and more, so in order for things to make sense, I need to know the details of a lot of future events. I plan a lot of shit out in advance plot-wise, but I try to keep it organic by just setting the characters out on a certain path, I know their endpoint, but I get to have fun and explore character moments in their own time. The only problem with this is if the character moments might be something unappealing early on in their arc and you lose readers because they don’t know your big plan for the character.Current WIP I’ve had a lot of character moments I thought would take place later in the story that the characters decided “nope, this is happening NOW MFer,” and I think the project’s better for it.

There's a lot of discussion about plot B or oraganization C or character D, but how do you write the relationship between your MC and their Pokemon? There are a few archetypes like a Pokemon who refuses to obey (Charizard), but anything less discussed?
>>58242346Come up with a basic quirk or personality. It doesn't have to be in depth. Pokemon are basically animals and often expect trainers to be the trainer/master.Some pokemon are like children to a parentSome are like friends to a friendOthers are like sporting team members, being traded around for high level playOthers just find comfort in company or having an trainer/master deal with the thingsI was writing a scene where the MC catches a weedle because it attached itself to his back hoping to be caught, and he decides to just roll with it
>>58240037I think it's a good time to dust off my Ditto isekai fic I started writing months ago
>>58242346My MC handling their Pokemon is where he's most competent and least of a trainwreck. His first partner is sort of like a bratty little brother to him, so he's become very proficient at managing his Pokemon's moods and keeping patient with them in a way he can't with people. He lacks the equipment of an ace trainer but is always using what he has available to give them a diet to promote growth, and plenty of physical and intellectual exercise that teaches them how to use their bodies more creatively than their instincts would. For their parts, his main partner absolutely adores him and returns the brotherly affection, though he DOES think he's a bit of a wimp - he imagines himself as the one who has to pick up his spack and kick him into gear.
I had an idea for an isekai story.MC is contacted not by Arceus, but by Shiny Arceus who sends them into Arceus world for some reason.
>>58243009Is Shiny Arceus racist towards the other Arceus arms and want to use isekai gaijin to destroy them?
