Do you think they'll ever add a new Type to the franchise? Was the Fairy Type well-received upon being introduced?
>>
>>58228822
I hope not. They barely even cared about how Fairy was implemented beyond using it for Sylveon merchandise.
>>
It won't be "sound" type it will be SONG type some you posted will be in it the mascot will be Jigglypuff, you also missed Jynx, Lapras, Roggenrolla line, Bronzong among others

Yes, but it won't necessarily be now, i feel "NEW TYPE" is Gamefreaks BREAK GLASS tactic kept in the backpocket if the seas get stormy.

>Was the Fairy Type well-received upon being introduced?
Balancing discussions and whether or actually did its rebalancing assignment well or not and "IT SHOULDA BEEN LIGHT TYPE!" aside it was very well received, that is basically undeniable, but Sylveon and the retconned Normalmons carried it pretty hard in Gen6 (Practically EVERY "Check out my team" on release had Sylveon, shit was more common then the Starters), it only really came into its around Gen7, but that is also Kalos being the smallest Dex expansion aside from PLA (Or Go if you count Meltan/Melmetal). I'd say Dark and Steel had a warmer reception overall, but that is also a result of coming earlier when the fanbase was younger and less grouchy about NEW THING BAD.

I feel the big issue with NEW TYPE is that the majority of suggestions are usually just setting up Normal to get split again rather then something actually "New" and what people are really after is a Type Chart refresh for whatever reason and feel they have to add a New Type to justify it.
>>
>>58228822
I think the future is just going to be sub-typing like Sound and Cosmic are now.
>>
>>58228822
They'll definitely add a new type eventually. It's a lot of work because they have to rebalance existing Pokemon and the type chart, but it also drums up big interest.
>>
>>58228822
Fairy was added 4 gens after Steel and Dark, therefore there will be a new type in Gen 10.
>>
Maybe a new mythical creatures type (we have ghosts, dragons and fairies).
>>
>>58228978
Like what? Demon type?
>>
>>58228986
Would be an example, yet Dark Type exists. Idk, Elves, Dwarfs, Orks, it's just a guess.

Generally speaking, all the types can be grouped in categories. You have
>elementals (water, fire, electric, ice)
>materials (rock, steel, ground)
>abilities (fighting, psychic, flying)
>mythical creatures (ghost, fairy, dragon)
>life (grass, bug)
Don't know where to put Dark, Poison Normal, but you know what I mean. Amd some type definitely belong to other categories as well

My guess would be something modern. Most, if not all types sound like Pokémon has some medieval fantasy setting, and the most modern type would be Steel.

Perhaps "Plastic", "Artificial", "Synthetic" Type.
>>
>>58229065
>Plastic
Oh no! Now the Microplastics are in my Pokemon too!
>>
>>58228822
>Strong against and resists bug and ice
these types don't need to be nerfed more than they already are
>>
>>58229065
Poison would go in abilities, Normal in Life (if you keep it), and Dark in abilities (it’s underhanded fighting).
>>
>>58228822
If they don't do it this year, we're never seeing a new real type until Pokemon's 40th or 50th anniversary. Because a new type also means a new Eeveelution, since Sylveon set the standard that there needs to be an extremely momentous occasion to add a new Eeveelution.

Not a real type and it's also going to completely disappear from the franchise outside of Champions after we leave Paldea.

GF could reintroduce the ??? Type
>instable / chaotic
>all strengths and weaknesses are unknown and randomized each battle
>>
I wish there were 20 types. 18 types isn't an awful number, but 20 is rounder.
>>
>>58228822
Primarina should be there, too.
>>
>>58229140
Thats what all new types will be like from now on
>>
>>58229413
Porygon should be this
Normal being used as an "elementless" type is pretty stupid, what is "normal" about a computer generated creature, or fucking God
>>
>>58229121
Stellar is just a Nuclear-Type from Uranium.
>>
>>58228822
you have to be 18 to post here
>>
biotic type for non plant/animal life like fungus and bacteria
>>
>>58228978
Beast/Monster type
>>
>>58229748
neutral would probably have been a better word
>>
>>58228822
>even more normal mons losing their type
this is the main reason i don't want this, it's always normal that takes a big fat L. stop taking my favorite type away from all my favorite mons >:(
>>
>>58228822
>Well received
lmao
>>
Fire
>Magma, Sun, Light
Water
>Ocean, Rain, Liquid
Flying
>Air, Wind, Tempest
Electric
>Energy, Light, Plasma
Ghost/Fairy/Dragon
>Monster, Beast, Animal, Alien
Grass
>Nature, Earth
Bug
>Virus, Parasite, Nuclear

It would have to be something that naturally fits. The only type I think can work is Wind, only because not every Flying-type is necessarily 'flying'. Rock, Ground and Steel work even though you can package them as an Earth-type, but Wind could work for Pokemon like Drifloon and Minior, but Flying is fine as is only because a lot of Flying-types have wings. Other types that could work in theory is Cosmic or Sound.
>>
>>58229413
>randomized each battle
Instead of this, the weaknesses should be on a Pokemon-by-Pokemon basis.
Implying that they do have a type, but we just don't really know what it is and it doesn't fit into the chart.
Also, every Ultra Beast should have been ???-type to sell how alien they are.
>>
>New types request
>Lobotomized Normal Type special attacks
>>
>>58229121
It's like Dragonfruit / Pitahaya.
>On first sight, it looks spectacular, like something powerful, above all types or Omni Type.
>But once you experience it, you realize it's just as bland as Normal Type.

>>58229748
Normal seems like a type-less deposit for all the concepts that aren't covered by existing types.
>Ditto having the ability to shapeshift
>Porygon line as digital creatures
>Whismur line being based on sound
>Arceus and Silvally representing a combination of types
>Terapagos representing the concept of multiverses
When Fairy was introduced and some pokemon had their typings changed, the majority of changes affected Normal, which was often replaced by the new type.
>https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Normal_(type)#Changed_types

>>58229748
More like Porygon-Z. Since its a corrupted version, this could fit its unpredictable nature.

>>58229851
Dragon seems to cover that Beast aspect. And "Monster" seems weird, because "Pocket Monsters".
>>
>>58231363
Addendum: Normal would be even more exciting than Stellar, because it has at least three disadvantages and an immunity. Stellar is just effective against itself.
