>>58233420Honestly no. Vanilla games feel pretty complete despite having less stuff. The ultra games are harder, has more Pokemon, change some story stuff around, and add some new areas, but the whole experience feels like a rom hack if it was made by game freak and I don’t mean that in the nicest way. The story between lusamine and Lillie tied the vanilla games together and that’s lost in ultra and hurts it a lot. I would only suggest ultra if you want more Gen 7 or wanted to play with Pokemon in a certain way not allowed in vanilla’s main campaign cause it felt like you’re just bouncing between events with no through line unlike vanilla.

But for a normal play though, USUM is trash and has plot holes that makes the plot of Arceus and the Jewel of Life look coherent. If you want to play a game, SM is the way to go. If you want to train a team and become a competitive battler, USUM wins hands down.
