How often do you praise features like battle frontier or pwt and when was the last time you actually beat them? Or even just the regular battle tower equivalents for that fact? I feel like the ratio of people who complain about a game not having battle frontier vs people who have actually completed the modes is pretty lopsided

only normalfags praise the pwt, its an obnoxious roadblock in the story and piss easy when you actually go do it
>>
I have 5 silver medals on HGSS and the Black trainer card in Black 2. I'm currently trying to complete the super trains in the subway

This is false btw. Even Frontierfags appreciate.

A lot because it's good

>or pwt
never because it's casual nostalgia pandering garbage

I played through all the postgame facilities in BW2 like a year ago. still need to go back and do doubles. messed around with the gen 4 facilities as a kid, although I never got that far, it was fun. didn't play the original battle frontier because I didn't have emerald.

anyway I think what makes it sting that they removed the battle frontier etc regardless of how many people played it in the past, is that it's become so much easier to train competitive Pokemon in recent games, but there's not a lot to do with them except for pvp. those facilities in the past had a much higher barrier to entry because of how much work it was to raise Pokemon for them. even when I played BW2 last year it was significantly more work to build competitive mons than it is in the recent games. so I think a lot more people would engage with those facilities now that there's a lowered barrier of entry....but they don't exist.

I had posted about this in a /v/ thread but I'm starting to have a love/hate relationship with the battle frontier or gimmicky post game battle facilities. With the battle frontier I think the most appealing part of it is the gimmicks they have, which is why I personally find the gen 3 one way better than the gen 4 one. It even has more facilities. But one of the big problems with it is it's very time consuming. Same with the regular battle tower modes like the Unova subway. Losing a 48 streak to some bullshit really demotivates you to even wanting to bother again. With the pike or the pyramid in Hoenn it at least has the gimmicks of making the adventure feel worth it.

Another problem is genuinely the difficulty. Yes you don't "need" competitive mons to beat it but they help a ton of you do have them, but getting them in earlier gens is a gigantic pain. But then I feel like if you're doing that you might as well be playing VGC.

Also while I definitely like the PWT it's also very weird. Unlike the regular battle towers you know who you're going to be fighting if you do the gym leaders/champion tournaments. You're not gonna get thrown for a loop by Sabrina having a random Cresselia or some shit. It's also very short with only 3 matches and no need to have an unbroken streak going.

I feel like people prefer the presentation and appeal of these things rather than the content themselves.

The pwt is easy to beat. That's why it kinda of sucks, well, not sucks, just underwhelms.
I beat the gen 4 battle frontier finally earlier this year after having the games since launch.
The fact the battle frontier is almost unbeatable is kinda the point, it means to always have single player content left to complete, goals in the in-game universe to work towards, and basically gives an excuse as a result to stay in that world and keep playing and engage with every other system.

I do think at minimum each game should have a battle tower (but an actually hard one, not the battle tree or swsh tower) and a battle factory. Call them whatever you like but something with the gameplay of either.
Whole gen 4 didn't do this, I think a "roguelike" mode akin to the pike or pyramid would also be a good inclusion for variety.
Or add new facilities this would be better to surprise, the point is that they need to be hard, and have a clear reward that is shown as incomplete in a menu somewhere so that you always feel motivated to keep playing.

I rarely praise the battle towers and last played any kind of tower thing earlier this year (getting Ribbons on some of my bros). I last did PWT in gen 5, and don't really have any desire to play through it again.

Battle Tree Super is one of the harder towers, as they go. Certainly not as easy as SwSh's, which is an absolute joke, and definitely harder than Gen 3's towers and Gen 6's Maison. Depending on the specific format I'd even place it as harder than BDSP or Gen 4's towers.

I'm still not buying ORAS.

Ive only dabbled in the Gen 3Battle Frontier for Ribbon Master reasons, but I don't think it's controversial to want features back so other people will be happy.

I really don't like the "fuck you got mine" mindset

you used save states so your opinion is pretty worthless, tripfag

I like Battle Tower (or Mansion, Subway, whatever), and I think it should always exist as a standard offline mode.
I got 7 Silver Symbols in Gen 3 Battle Frontier, and gave up trying Gold because of hax. Gen 6/7 made the streak system much more tolerable, so I appreciate them.
I recognize though I am probably the minority.

You think a battle frontier trainer would just happen to always have a Vaporeon when I'm running Metagross, Salamence, and Milotic? No, he orchestrated it, Masuda.

Also yeah, because losing a streak at 48 wins to the enemy having a perfect counter to mine is not fun. I actually didn't have to do that for the PWT though since it's a lot easier.

Has anyone seriously played through the crystal batte tower here?

Battle Frontier facilities and the like were a thing when I was still a wee bab and didn't have any knowlege of comp Pokemon so I'd just tackle them with my ingame, non EV'd mons and get rolled for the most part. I was able to beat Tucker in Emerald, and two different Facilites in Platinum like this, and past that I do remember trying the battle subway and casual PWT stuff with some bred Pokemon but never got terribly far.
Then by the time I understood comp and could build actual teams, postgame facilities pretty much vanished from the series.
A game with actual battle facilities in current year with Pokemon's level of QoL I could probably get really into. I can also see myself going back to old gens facilities because I'm considering doing a mawile ribbon master run.
