The most unique Pokémon

I am so pissed we didn't get a glimpse at this guy's original design during the beta leaks
Apparently it was super, super crazy and this is the toned-down version

>psychic/flying colorful mystical americanative-inspired bird is the most unique pokemon when something identical existed 3 gens prior
Lol

Down to the torso second face surrounded by a zigzag pattern lmao

I always liked Sigilyph for being a wacky design, but was always confused when NPCs would call it a bird pokemon. Someone on here mentioned the nazca lines again - which I've known it was based on since gen 5 released - but realizing that it's a "misinterpretation" of that 2d shape in 3d, where it's a bird head with its beak up and the eye pointing at you, the wings stay wings, the little arms are actually the bird's legs, and the ribbons/tentacles/whatever are the tail feathers made me adore this freakazoid. I hope it gets a prevo and evo, it deserves to become more popular, one of the best designs in the series imo.

Pretty much the same color scheme too

Not even the glyph thing is unique because the britform of the sarcophagus does it too

Have you forgotten gen 5 was supposed to be referencing the previous 4 gens? Every single mon in gen 5 is a specific new idea that went through a previous gen filter except some very few exceptions. Think about klink vs magnemite lines, trubbish vs grimer lines, roggenrola vs geodude likes, woobat vs zubat lines (I mean come on on this one you see), bouffalant and tauros, jellicent is tentacruel, swanna is pelipper, munna and drowzee, blitzle and ponyta, scraggy and croagunk, zoroark and lucario, gothitelle/reuniclus and gardevoir/alakazam (latter is a bit of a stretch but you get it), alomomola and luvdisc, ferrothorn and forretress, beartic and ursaring, haxorus and aggron (even with their middle stages showing up frequently in victory road), the genies referencing the kanto birds and imo the lake trio, genesect and mewtwo, you could list more obviously. They're not just archetypal, they're directly referencing.

Have you read OP's statement?

i think op is referring to appearance/overall shape with how abstract it is
>>58238829
i feel like i'm in a minority that doesn't mind the gen 5 dex being derivative especially seeing as BW is a sort of soft reboot but i wish more of the new lines had something to set them apart from their counterpart. i think stuff like zubat/woobat or reuniclus/alakazam does it okay since they're different types and/or have different designs but why is there stuff like
>munna/drowzee, both psychic-type tapirs
>bouffalant/tauros, both normal-type bison (or bulls or longhorns or whatever the fuck you know what i mean)
>sawk & throh/hitmons, both mono-fighting counterparts
and so forth

I remember this motherfucker being a real problem for me on my original Black playthrough

Xatu + Unown = Sigylyph
