Thread question: how do you feel about the upcoming Legends ZA? From how it looks to the new mega evolutions?
>>58242563Impressively bad. Can’t believe they managed to ruin everything people liked about Legends Arceus.
>>58236359Ouch. I guess Cyrus is that one fight even in DP. What's the plan now?
>>58238469That seems like a perfectly obtainable Spearow, especially with Thunder Punch and Psybeam. How coukd anyone accuse you of using PKhex? In all seriousness, how many gen 1's do you have left to use champion?
>>58243218I've given Sinnoh a thorough scouring for any mon that might be helpful and I think I've managed to put together a pretty decent team, currently grinding them up to 50 for Volkner so I won't have a repeat of CyrusI did broaden my search a little from what I had set in my original rules, I had previously allowed the Pokeradar, GBA insert and the occasional swarm if one was relevant, but I allowed myself a Super Rod mon as well since they weren't as overleveled as I remembered them being, well within what you'd find otherwise which is really all I care about
>>58242594As someone who hasn't been keeping up with the news, what did theu ruin exactly?
Okay, so, getting to Bill was a lot more painful than I expected. I lost Benedict to the third trainer on Nugget Bridge because nothing on my team can handle Doduo since it's a Ground/Flying type in this game with fucking EXCELLENT coverage. I was really looking forward to having a Parasect too. Then I lost Gregory to a goddamned Machop because I just had to be cutesy and try to put it asleep so he didn't have to split the exp, so now I miss out on Poliwrath. When that pokemon body swapping freak handed the S.S. Anne ticket to me I wanted to deck him in the teeth. What's worse, I missed out on catching pokemon on both route 24 AND 25 because my first encounters on both were Abras. The first one didn't actually run away and I thought if I could put it to sleep first I might actually be able to get it. After three Sings did absolutely nothing, it then decided that it had had enough and fucked off. When I found the next one, I thought I'd just double slap it and pray that it would give me a chance. Turns out, Eleanor decided to hit it ONE MORE FLIPPING TIME TO KNOCK IT OUT INSTEAD! So now, I'm down two mons with no replacements.Well, here's hoping Misty doesn't just kick me in the balls and wipe out my team
>>58243929Yeah, it was the first time I've used a hacking tool or anything like that. I set it to have Peck and Growl and I lol'd when it came out with Alakazam's moves. Spearow serves much better with Feather Dance and Secret Power I believe..I still have Weedle, Magikarp, Dratini, Exeggcute, Lickitung, Rhyhorn, Grimer and Zubat. And the bird. That's nine and a bit more than I thought. Lickitung is going to be the ace of the next team, not sure about the moves yet.
>>58246340>>58246344
>>58246336Only nine left. Do you think you'll try and complete any other regions after Kanto?>MagikarpOh boy. Best i can think of with it is Baton Passing a bunch of stat buffs onto it for a few KO's. Good luck with that.
Can anyone tell how good/bad are 6th and 7th gen games? I've never played those before.
>>58246620I'm not even sure how many Pokemon I have left to use from other regions. Magikarp has actually pretty good defense so it can take a hit or two hopefully and give Sticky Barb to someone. Or have Rocky Helmet. Or bait an Electric move so there's a safe switch for someone. It's not going to kill anyone, but who knows. Or MAYBE use Bounce to paralyze someone, but that might be too risky. A helpful team member I hope! I'm mostly worried about Weedle..
>>58242563Keeping my expectations low but waiting for release. I'll emulate it anyway just for keks to see how bad it's going to be.
>>58246719Gen 6 is on the easier side for both a Nuzlocke and regular playthrough. The Kalos gym leaders aren't a threat, the real challenge comes from the regular trainers. ORAS is similar in difficulty, but the Dexnav is so much fun.Gen 7 is more difficult as a Nuzlocke, especially the Ultra games, but you have to sit through a bunch of cutscenes at the end of every route. Every route, that is not an exaggeration.Did that answer your question?
>>58246127I have bad memories of Misty in Yellow. Only reason she didn't end my run with her Starmie was some lucky paralysis on my part.
Day 105After my triumph in Galar, I set my sights on a new adventure and journeyed to the vibrant Paldea region. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Director Clavell of Naranja Academy, who entrusted me with my new partner, a cheerful Fuecoco. With my fiery starter at my side, I set out into the wilds of Paldea. At Poco Path, I caught a Lechonk, a plump but determined companion, and later along my travels, I added a mischievous Shroodle to my growing team. With my first catches secured, I pressed onward until I reached the bustling city of Mesagoza. There, I was officially accepted as a student of Naranja Academy, marking the true beginning of my Paldean journey.
>>58248855Are these pokemon like.. good? Never played the new games, except I have them in GO which says nothing.
That's the last of the gyms down, Mas Querade bulldozed, or rather Earthquake'd, his way through Volkner's team, earning us the Baco- Beacon Badge and access to the league. Just one final hurdle left
>>58248492Everyone's going to be lvl 20 minimum before I even dare to hope.
Blazeblack anon again back after finishing off dragonspire tower, relic tower, and the last Bianca fight (it was a triple battle)Just put Protect on all 3 openers to stop her 2 fake out openers (Mieoshao/Persian) and then nuke their team with Earthquake and dischages from Emboar, Zapdos, and Cresslia with no risk of hitting an ally because of immunitiesSwept up all 3 of her other mon the same way, ended in 2 turns. Now to try and figure out a strat for Drayden's rotation battle that opens with a charizard in rotation to fuck up ice beam spamAlso due to Dupes clause, Keldeo was practically a guarantee encounter as I already have seismatoed, Quasire, and Toxicroak, so I don't feel as bad for getting this legendary when it was the clause anyway before doing repel manip.
Started a Brilliant Diamond Wonderlocke. Lot more diversity than you’d think but having to go to Jubilife every time to trade on top of the disobedience mechanic is making me want to do something else.
How the hell am I supposed to beat Cheren in Vanilla Volt White 2? I'm using Oshawott (lvl 14) and some lvl 11 mons (Mareep, Pidgey, Beautifly, Riolu) but I just keep getting shredded. Is there something I'm just not seeing? My only real bet is getting Riolu to try and finish Munchlax w/ Counter, but it's not enough to OHKO. So I have to whittle Munchlax down, but that risks it setting up and being able to one shot Riolu. Is there anything I'm not seeing here? Oshawott is female, so I'm using her as the lead since Attract on Minccino is a bitch. This is not a nuzlocke btw.
>>58250419Just evolve your Riolu dumbass.
>>58249020I mean the starter is good.
I hate the PokeStudios section
Day 106As a new student of Naranja Academy, I was entrusted with three great challenges: dismantle Team Star, quell the Titan Pokémon wreaking havoc across Paldea, and defeat the eight regional Gym Leaders. With my path set, I left Mesagoza and began my journey westward.Along the way, I caught a Smoliv to add to my growing team, and my Fuecoco evolved into a Crocalor, its fiery power growing with it. Soon after, I arrived in Cortondo, home of the first Gym I would face. The leader, Katy, specialized in Bug-types, but Crocalor was more than ready. It incinerated her Nymble with a single Ember, then burned down Tarountula the same way. When Katy Terastallized her Teddiursa, Crocalor matched her transformation, unleashing a blazing Incinerate that one-shot her ace. The battle was swift, and with it, I earned my first badge in Paldea.
>>58250758Me too. I do like the idea but I wish it wasn't mandatory, literally just make the thing optional.
Bump.
>>58249303Funny, I did the same thing in my last Platinum run with Gliscor. Salamence this early? I would have waited for Kalos at minimum personally.
I've played storm silver and blaze black 2 redux. What are some good fan nuzlocke games I should try? Not necessarily looking for weirdness and extreme difficulty, just tons of mons from many generations and good quality of life improvements.
>>58250327Ok just ran through Dryden like a hot knife through butter thanks to the Dratini I caught in Dragonspiral Tower setting me up for Multiscale Dragonite to Dragon Dance and sweep his team.Right now I'm running a whole team of NOT the pokemon I plan to use for the elite 4 as I don't want to risk losing them on the way in. Case and point my fucking Metagross that I got as a Beldum had a mon survive an impossible calc attack to revenge kill me:Lvl 66 252+ Atk 25 IVs Iron Fist Metagross Hammer Arm vs. Lvl 63 0 HP / 0+ Def Porygon-Z: 248-292 (124.6 - 146.7%) -- guaranteed OHKOHowever somehow the Porygon Z survived with 1 HP, no sash, and proceeded to nasty plot and adaptability Hyper Beam my Metagross to death. Just gotta make it to the league, I have a plan for each of the double battles and I have the white herb I stole off Brycen to help solidify my plan for N/ghetsis.Just gotta make it through a gauntlet of 8 trainers with fully stacked 6 mon teams on the way through victory road to get to my ultimate goal
The grind for the league was rough, but the rewards were ours to reap. The Elite Four were nearly completely clean sweeps; Aaron, Bertha and Flint being taken out by Mas Querade, Herbaceous and Anastasia Beverly Hills, respectively, Lucian nearly being soloed by Mas Querade except for a brief assist by Herbaceous against his Bronzong. Cynthia was also surprisingly a bit of a cakewalk, as Anastasia Beverly Hills took out 5 of her 6 Pokemon, letting Spank It have his moment in the limelight against her Milotic as I feared it would murder with Mirror Coat otherwise. Definitely a relief of a league performance after the intense loss of motivation in the early game and the brutal Cyrus fight, really excited to start Platinum as I have some fun plans for that (especially now that I've champed three more Honey Tree mons), but I'll be stuck shinyhunting in Oreburgh Mine for a while to get an encounter there, goodness knows how long that'll take>>58252817>Salamence this early? I would have waited for Kalos at minimum personally.Yeah, I knew I needed something powerful to carry the Honey Tree mons to victory and the chance to use a Shelgon/Salamence in Sinnoh was too good to pass up. In hindsight I suppose I only really needed Gorebyss and some strong Earthquake user, but oh well, I still have a wide array of options to choose from still>>58250758>>58251075This, and Festival Plaza in USUM where they force you into that shit on the second island if you haven't already used it yet. The fact that they force you into that garbagefire and don't do that for Poke Pelago (an actually good feature) is mindboggling to me
>>58253289Polished Crystal and Emerald++ might be what you want.
White 2 NuzlockeSet Mode - No Items in Battle - Level CapDeja Vu the Lilligant trivialized Clay. No surprise there. Made it through Chargestone cave wary of triple battles but ultimately safe and sound. Got Frillish in Virbank as well.Caught Battery the Drilbur in Chargestone, trained him, and with speed EVs & rockslide easily swept Skyla. Caught a Litwick in the tower. Chandelure is of course quite strong so I'll likely train it at a later time.Captured Voyager the Skarmory outside of Lentimas, unsure if I'll ever use it. Considering training Zorua and DOOM the Yamask. There's a satisfying sense of progress in looking at your team and seeing a party of fully evolved pokemon. The team is now:Bird the EmboarBlues the StoutlandDeja Vu the LilligantBattery the ExcadrillFoe the JellicentRoach the Krookodile
>>58251071man, what the fuck happened to pokemon designs...
>>58254731Nice team. I agree on the satisfaction of seeing a team finally come together fully, the result of a lot of work and careful planning.
>>58255242They started leaning towards more cartoony designs for Pokemon. You still get some cool designs like Falinks and Mega Hawlucha, but to me at least GF has moved away from the 'monsters' of pocket monsters.
>>58256723one last question: are those names real? they seem kinda memey but make sense so I legit can't tell.
>>58256880They're real. Just wait until you learn about Dudunsparce
>>58257418I know about that one. surprisingly
I hate to be a bother, but does anyone know what the deal is with verbank complex? is there a difference in pokemon between "outer" verbank complex and "inner" verbank complex? the screen transition into a "new area" is throwing me off.
>>58258157There is a difference, yes, the outer part has worse encounters and I would not recommend searching in that grass unless you count the two parts as seperate areas
>>58242558Not exactly doing a challenge run, just picking up on Soul Silver after not playing for a while. On my way to fight Lance and the Elite 4. No other thread I could think of putting this in. I wish Wigglytuffanon would come back and do another playthru thread, Fire Red and Leaf Green was fun last year
>>58258866Aaand I haven't been on 4chan in so long I forgot to make sure my photo wouldn't turn sideways. My deepest apologies, friends
>>58258346yeah, I guess I'll count them as separate using the same logic as pinwheel forest. thanks.
Everyone's ready to get hydrated! It's the Humilau Gym!Nigou, Moko, Sugg, and occasionally, Raid got their hands and components wet, while touching soft lily pads. On two separate occasions, Wailords broke through the roof--the League's gonna have to dip into their Health Care Budget to patch it up again.Marlon's Carracosta versus Raid Shadow Legends--why did I open with Raid?! We'll never know, including me. Dig, to Shell Smash. Got a nice hit in, before getting bopped in turn, and a second Dig sent it back to extinction land. For the Wailord, it opened with Amnesia as I switched to Nigou, and dropped Metal Sound to counter. Metal Sound, Amnesia, Metal Sound, Bounce--wait, shit--Discharge, switch to Sugg, Clear Smog away the boosts, and then FEAST with Giga Drain! The Jellicent cursed Sugg's Giga Drain, and since it was dropping Ominous Winds, I had the brain blast, and sent Gator Bob to Crunch the jellyfish! I misclicked... I misclicked and hit Dig... NOT THAT IT MATTERED SINCE IT GOT A BOOST FROM OMINOUS WIND EARLIER, and got torrent'd down to the Briny deep...!Sugg got the run-back and sucked him dry!Wave Badge Wave Get!Bury the Bob, immediately bring Sea Salt out for intense training--turn her into a double scoop--bump into Colress, the bitch had given the hint...It was now time to Surf--Moko tagged Wave in, and she would now rest, while the Surfer would lead us to our encounter on the Frigate, next time...!
>>58242558Would doing a mono-grass run of X or Y be interesting? Or would the game still be a complete joke? Without exp share obviously.
>>58253475Blaze Black Anon back at it again. Just did victory Road and the E4 without any bloodshed. Each double battle I dissected into a meticulous plan to make sure nobody died. Especially not Victini or Zapdos who I need for N and Ghetsis next. For Shauntal I just went nuclear. Life orb shadow ball from Gengar and Mismagius with Gengar always taking on the bulkier or the faster ghost while Mismagius cleaned up the slower and frailer ones. Pretty simple. Bonus was this battle leveled the entire team up to 74 thanks to everyone in the back rows having Exp. Share and being at the limit of leveling up going into the battle. For Caitlin, it was a matter of making space for Jirachi to calm mind up while taunting her Musharna who only knows Psyshock and 3 support moves. I actually fucked up this fight by forgetting to switch victini and jirachi from exp. share to leftovers, but it worked out fine. With Musharna just chipping ~7% a turn, it basically made it 2-on-1 with victini and jirachi cleaning up the lane next t Musharna. For Grimsley, I came up with a devilish strat. His Liepard only knows thunder wave, wild charge, sucker punch, and charm. So with Volcarona drought and Lightning Rod Zapdos, we were completely immune to everything except Sucker Punch, so we just Quiver Danced for 5 turns, Roosting off the hydro pumps from Sharpedo that were dimished to nothing in the sun and behind screens and Quiver buffs. After running out of Sucker Punches, Liepard just kept feeding Zapdos +1 Special Attacks and the lane next to him was swept away until only liepard was left and we nuked it.Finally, for Marshall, I had to get creative given his focus sash Breloom with spore and Sturdy Sawk. So first turn I baited Rock Slide and Stone edge onto Victini who protected while Jirachi shrugged off the damage and set up sandstorm. From there, we just went on a Psychic spree, without having to worry about sturdy or focus sash. EZ GG. Now on to N
>>58259442At the end of the day, it's still X and Y, but i think some of the later gym leaders might give you a challenge, and you have 18 species to work with, and i consider the amout of Pokémon Kalos has to be one of its strengths.
>>58254019A clean run of Sinnoh's E4 is always welcome. Nice to see Gorebyss getting some use.Didn't USUM also change up the Rotomdex to annoy you if you say you didn't ask for a feature?
Day 107Leaving Cortondo behind, I traveled into South Province Area Three, where I caught a Nacli to strengthen my team. Along the way, Lechonk finally evolved into a bulky Oinkologne, ready to take on tougher battles.Soon, I faced my first Titan Pokémon—Klawf. I sent out Smoliv, hoping its Grass-type moves would give me an edge. Smoliv boosted itself with Growth, but Klawf used Block, trapping it in battle. Despite firing off Razor Leaf and Absorb to heal, Klawf’s brutal Vise Grip overwhelmed Smoliv, taking its life. Furious, I sent in Oinkologne. Using Dig to slip underground and strike hard, Oinkologne repeatedly burrowed until Klawf finally fell. Victory was mine, though at a heavy cost.I pressed on to Artazon, home of the Gym Leader Brassius. Crocolar handled the fight with fiery ease—Incinerating both Petilil and Smoliv in a single hit each. For his Terastallized Sudowoodo, I switched strategies. I Terastallized Shroodle and struck with Poison Fang, landing it twice and cutting through the stone impostor. Brassius was defeated, and I claimed my second badge of Paldea.
>>58259646And with that, my Randomizer Starter Blaze Black game is complete.Crustle was such a clutch mon in so many fights just enduring with 1 HP to shell smash murder a threat that couldn't be dealt with or clean up double battles with rock slide in the mid-gameArcanine was a HARD carry for the early to mid-game thanks to intimidate and the fact that it got access to flame wheel (70BP in this mod) and Double kick at level 20 to help take out probably the hardest boss, LenoraMy insane luck at the 1% chance of getting jirachi made the run incredibly fun. Early game Jirachi was a monster with psychic at level 20 and twisted spoon it deleted a lot. But it fell off without a good movepool in the midgame and didn't come back until we got some good TMs near the 8th gym and came back to be the calm mind sweeper of the main E4Victini was a fun mon the whole way through. I made the long term decision to make it Special EV trained because in the long run its better for the late game and its movepool supported that more. He was a pretty average mon up until I got access to the move reminder and then he went OFF with fusion bolt and fusion flare.Repel Manip for Zapdos was worth every minute of the hour it took to get it. It made the most daunting battle, Skyla triple battle, completely managable and helped to wall of main threats from Grimsley, N, and GhestisCobalion was pretty much just a tool to beat the opening threats of N and Ghetsis' team. Easy Static encounter to getTop callouts for - Regenerator Slowbro for being my safe pivot for 70% of the - Gengar For not only invalidating half of the Brycen fight but also for the thiefing the white herb off brycen's Beartic and also being a nuke in the Shauntel fight- Liligant for soloing the Driftveil gymRIP to - My zigzagoon who barely stood a chance against Cheren's Starvia.- My Nidoqueen who died stopping Skyla's skarmory from setting up tailwind- My Swellow for being a noble sacrifice to stop Snow Cloak
Day 108I continued my journey through Paldea’s wilds and caught a Wattrel soaring along the coast, its sharp cries echoing against the waves. While training, my Nacli grew sturdier and evolved into Naclstack, its rocky form becoming even more imposing. Wattrel soon followed suit, evolving into the swift and powerful Kilowattrel, a bird crackling with electricity as it cut through the skies. Not long after, I dove into the waters and added a playful Finizen to my team, its sleek, dolphin-like body gliding with ease through the surf. My party was beginning to feel stronger, more diverse, and ready for the challenges ahead.
bump
>>58261010CongratulationsA nice run for sure
>>58259406Misclicks are the worst, especially when it doesn't even matter and you lose someone anyway. Hope you're ready for Ghetsis and Kyurem.
Littlemon team #32 to beat Alpha Sapphire E4 + Champion with a deathless & reliable strat. Level cap, no bag items, set mode, goes from Sidney until champions.>lickitung is a monster but the other guys are pretty cool too -editionNew heroes! I had plenty of plans for Magikarp, but it best served PP stalling Glacia's Froslass' Blizzard away. Magikarp can take two STAB Blizzards wearing Assault Vest, so that's pretty good. This team needed a Water Pokemon to take a few Ice hits, it's not even (that) forced. The support team is called "NinTai" (lol). Taillow is actually one of the best supports ever on this challenge. Learns Growl, Confide, Roost. Nincada has high D and also has a wonderful moveset. Joltik is super fast and has a nice move pool. Also it's cute and spiders are cool. Dratini and Lickitung are the heavy hitters. Dratini needs the NinTai support to set up six Dragon Dances and then it can sweep. Shed Skin is cool, because then we don't need a move slot for Substitute. That's kinda risky, but I'll take it and it fits in my "reliable strat" restrictions. Lickitung is the monster. Great HP and defenses. It has Defense Curl and Amnesia and after NinTai it's free to do whatever it wants.
>>58264226Strategy:>look at me. i'm the better bird nowSidney: >taillow puts scrafty to -6 attack (scrafty only has physical attacking moves)>nincada adds insult to injury and puts scrafty to -6 accuracy>lickitung is free to enter and setup and sweepPhoebe:>nincada & taillow (nintail) soften banette and then dratini can enter and setup with swords dance and sweepGlacia:>joltik kills abomasnow while wasting their hail >magikarp and lickitung stall froslass out of blizzard pp>lickitung sets up and sweepsFrosslass is one of the scariest Pokemon of the challenge, but when it's out of PP for Blizzard it's a joke agains a Normal type Pokemon. Day 109Heading west into the open fields of Paldea, I caught myself a Capsakid. Its fiery little pepper body fitting right in with my growing team. Not long after, I faced the Titan Bombirdier, which had been pelting the mountainside with boulders. Reaching the top of the hill, I finally confronted it head-on. I sent out Naclstack. Terastallized into pure strength, and had it set up Iron Defense before locking Bombirdier into Salt Cure. Slowly but surely, the Titan's strength crumbled under the constant damage until it was finally defeated. With that challenge overcome, I turned my sights to Team Star's first base, led by Giacomo. After mowing through his goons, I faced the boss himself. Crocalor Terastallized, unleashing a blazing Incinerate that obliterated his Pawniard in a single strike. Then came the real test: the massive Segin Starmobile. Its grinding wheels and brutal attacks nearly overwhelmed me, but Crocalor stood firm. A series of fiery Incinerates wore it down, and eventually the engine roared its last. With Giacomo's defeat, Team Star was forced to retreat from the area, marking another victory in my Paldean journey.
>>58261010Congrats on the win! Any plans for another run or are you on break?
>>58265181>>58263022WE RUN IT BACK! Volt White 2 randomized starter. Normal Difficulty. We got Drifblim with Unburden!Already cleared Cheren without even having to use Drifblim for cheese. Just set up howl on Riolu and wiped out his first 3 mon and then had Pansear tickle the eviolite Munchlax into oblivion after yawning it to sleep. Got a dratini and now on to Virbank!
>>58265360This is already looking to be a stacked team for a normal run, but i'd guess this is mandatory for a Drayano hack.>Pansear being the MVPSomething no one has ever thought possible.
>>58266224Tickle and yawn made eviolite Munchlax a non-issue. I was honestly surprised. But I think the AI in that match is made to spam work up until its +2, which made it super easy to sleep and then tickle down to the point that I could safely switch to Riolu to OHKO with bite.Only thing is Volt White 2 removed friendship evolutions and early access to Return, so No early lucario or 252 Attack EV Return spam.
>>58266258That would be a pretty huge cheese, getting Lucario so early in a difficulty hack. When does it evolve actually?
>>58242558I thought that pic was Metagross slipping on banana peels
>>58267051Level 27, because it has to level up knowing aura sphere, which riolu learns at 26.Also Jesus the leveling and movepool of shit are absolutely insane. I leave the Floccesy Outskirts to Virbank and face the first Virbank Complex trainer and they jump from level 13 to 15 with a 4 stack diverse team. The level 15 Sniper Spinarak used Twin Needle to OHKO Pansear and then Crit poison fanged my Riolu down to red health. I switch in Drifblim to just take care of this and the fucking thing has shadow sneak shaving off half of its health and procing my berry juice I was saving for the gym.One good gust killed it but fuck, EVERY SINGLE ENEMY has had its movepool diversified to be stronger because I looked it up and Spinarak doesn't even learn Shadow Sneak in this romhack until 22, so why the fuck does it have it at 15? Because Drayano was actually autistic enough to give every single enemy encounter a diverse move pool to kill you. I almost wiped to A FUCKING SPINARARK.I thought I was hot shit after easily dealing with Cheren but now I'm religiously looking at the wiki to see every single fucking trainer because fuck, the next trainers all have moves on their mon that they don't learn until way later.Literally can't let my guard down for a moment as every trainer is 1 level higher than the last with illegal moves.
>>58267136Wait till you learn about Redux version. Absolutely bullshit. Good mons, items, etc. are put away from you unless you go out of your way to gain them and you have to think hard about what you will be facing next as random trainers can end your run.I did hardcore Nuzlocke run of it for close to 25 attempts. Left such a bad taste that I gave up nuzlockes in general.
>>58267493I AM playing the redux. And random trainers ARE nearly ending my run. Its one thing that all mon have updated move pools, but the AI having access to moves illegally early is bullshit while I have to work with level up movesets and no TMs so far into Virbank. In original Blaze Black I loved that game threw a ton of TMs at you pre-gym in whatever dungeon there was so you could help get a better movepool to fight the gym. Now I feel like I'm always fighting at a disadvantage because I'm stuck with an inferior movepool and the level caps are too narrow for me to attempt overleveling. The fact every mon also has their best ability is fucked too. Like if a mon CAN have intimidate or Sturdy, they WILL. And teams even compliment eachother. The fucking lass at the end of the Virbank complex has drought vulpix into Chlorophyll Cherim. Its one thing when its a "difficulty hack" but this just seems like purposeful attempted murder to nuzlockers.
>>58268187Despite it being based off Blaze Black2 and Volt White2, the changes from Drayano are removed by the other dev. Some "annoyances" I found during my hardcore nuzlocke of it:- Starters are not at the same level. Tepig and Oshawott runs are vilable but Snivy as a starter is not. Final evolution is Grass/Dragon Serperior and it cannot learn Draco Meteor cause "balance". All the starters from other regions are screwed as well in terms of either learnset, ability or availability.- Moves are less accurate. Aqua Tail, for e.g. is now 100 BP but accuracy is 85. I missed it three times in a row against Heartbreaker Charles and lost the run. Same happened in Clay's gym.- Evolution of certain mons only make sense if you are in Challenge Mode. For e.g. Riolu is not friendship evolution, Spearow evolves into Fearow at level 21, Marill evolves into Azumarill at level 21, etc.. Normal/Easy mode's level cap means they all evolve AFTER Roxie.- Certain battles like that Subway Boss Battle that unlocks Mudkip, is same in both Normal and Challenge mode. I lost way too many attempts there. Heartbreaker Charles and Sage Rood fights ended runs as well. If you don't have a good box for them, you are absolutely screwed.Add the fact that enemy teams have better movesets, held items and mons than you and it's a complete shit show. I was checking documentation/wiki and calculator for each battle in latter attempts and still wiped cause RNG.Only person who I think can Hardcore nuzlocke this, especially in Challenge mode is someone who is getting paid to do so. Otherwise it's a timesink.
>>58242558I haven't been logging my run ITT, but I just need some advice. I'm playing Blaze Black 2 right now, I'm contemplating fighting the Guardian for Victini. Firstly, is Victini even legal for a Nuzlocke run, and then second, I'll likely lose a Pokemon to the Guardian, so how hard is Burgh and is Victini worth it?
How do we feel about a hard level cap at +2 of a gym leader's strongest mon?
>>58268389>aqua tail with 85% accuracyFor what purpose? Just to punish Gyarados? Yeah the movesets are fucking wack. I got Squirtle Gift in Virbank and then looked up it, wartortle, and blastoise movesets and now I regret it. I just thought I needed water coverage but fuck is it shit. EV Trained Kirlia in Speed so he swept first 3 mon of Roxie with wise glasses boosted psybeams and then Drifblim was able to delete her Whirlipede without having to worry about toxic spikes. But this romhack really is bullshit and whoever made it autistically made EVERY fucking encounter boss tier coverage. Just look at this bullshit with the next generic Plasma grunt I have go against.HER ENTIRE MOVESET IS ILLEGAL.Meanwhile I've got like Frustration, Infestation, False Swipe, Rock Smash, Incinerate, and fucking cut as my TM viability. Its absolute horseshit.>>58268564He is an encounter at liberty island, whats illegal about him? He doesn't even become that good until level 60 when it gets fusion flare and bolt, and even then those are PP resource drain moves. I used him in my Blaze Black 1 run and had no qualms about it.
Been a while since I tried this, but going to do a run through the Dray hacks and a few others.Set mode, limiting healing items to what my opponent has, the usual. Not a bad start at all, no deaths after Falkner. Rollout on a juiced up Bibarel a bit of a cheat code there, and then Keith Beans mopped up.No doubt there will be hiccups, but have some solid options for Bugsy already, time for some Keith Beans supremacy.
Day 110Leaving the western lands behind, I traveled eastward across Paldea, where my journey brought fresh discoveries. Along the way, I caught a quirky Toedscool with its strange, wobbly legs, then watched Shroodle evolve into the sly and colorful Grafaiai. Not long after, I narrowly avoided being flattened by a speeding Cyclizar, only to manage to catch it as it slowed down. With these new companions, I continued onward until the towering, neon-soaked city of Levincia loomed before me.There, I prepared to face the local gym leader Iono, a Vtuber with endless energy and an obnoxious obsession with attention—someone I could imagine making a fortune off simps online. Still, her team was no joke. Naclstack led the charge, using Salt Cure to wipe out her Wattrel with ease. Against her Bellibolt, I sent in Toedscool, who spammed Mud Shot until the bulky eel finally went down. Luxray entered next, and I switched back to Naclstack, who once again relied on Mud Shot to bring it down. Then came her ace, Mismagius, who Terastallized into an Electric type. I Terastallized Toedscool in response, but things quickly grew tricky—Stun Spore failed, and Mismagius hit with Confuse Ray, forcing Toedscool to struggle through the confusion. Despite the chaos, Mega Drain chipped away at her ace until it fell, sealing my victory. Iono’s lights dimmed, and her endless chatter faded into the background as I claimed another badge.
>>58269213Forget to post image. This is my team. Is it good?

>>58269441Meanwhile I'm 14k deep in a shiny hunt in Oreburgh Mine just so I can have an encounter there, quit hoggin' all the shinyluck, lolNo but forreal that's dope as hell, I don't think the Drayano hacks even have boosted shiny odds, do they?

>enemy Patrat SUCCESSFULLY used Detect 3 times in a rowI have curse fatigue...
>>58268687Like 2 levels above the ace? That, to me, is overkill in basically all situations, barring cases like Lenora and Fantina when you don't have much variety in encounters.>>58269217The team looks fine, coming from someone that hasn't played SV.
what did you name your starter this run
do you edge the level up so you get it as soon as you kill the gym leader's first pokemon
>>58268687What's the point of a level cap if you're going to bend the rules? Might as well use infinite rare candies at that point.
Day 111I pressed deeper into Paldea and found myself at another Team Star base, this one led by Mela—a fiery woman whose heavy, stomping boots looked like they could crush anything in her path. After carving through her grunts, I confronted her head-on. The battle began with Finizen diving again and again against her Torkoal. Its sturdy defenses dragged the fight out, but persistence paid off, and Torkoal was finally defeated. Then came the massive Schedar Starmobile. At first, Naclstack’s Salt Cure hardly dented its defenses, so I shifted strategy, relying on repeated Smack Downs. Slowly but surely, the behemoth broke down, and Mela was left fuming in defeat. With that victory, I set my sights on the mines, where I caught a ghostly little Bramblin. Knowing what it needed to grow, I took it for a long walk through Levincia, and before long it bloomed into the eerie Brambleghast. Feeling confident, I turned my attention to another titan causing havoc—the steel giant Orthworm. Its sheer size was intimidating, but my strategy held strong. I began with Naclstack, using Salt Cure to chip away at its armor every turn, then switched to Crocalor. Terastallizing, Crocalor unleashed waves of Flamethrowers, searing through its metallic body until the colossal worm finally collapsed. Another titan down, and another step forward in Paldea.
>>58271391Only if I need a move for the battle. If evolutions could happen mid fight like the anime I’d be more willing to do that
>>58271029It's got its flaws but the battles are good I guess.
Finally got around to getting to Veilstone. Caught Otto the Girafarig on 214, and evolved Wally into Gardevoir. Was worried about Lucario, but Psychic was able to one shot it.
>>58271410Not him, but what's wrong with rare candies? What's the point of grindingfor levels, especially in games like Renegade Platinum or Blaze Black 2?
>>58272900For me at least, it removes a lot of the risk factor of Nuzlockes. Losing a mon doesn't quite have the same weight when you can easily replace it with infinite rare candies.

>>58271386I don’t bother with nicknames
>>58272900your run, your rules; but rare candies will completely change the nature of your run. I still remember the one guy here who had 2 boxes of pokemon that were ALL at lv. 63ish at the elite 4 and didn't know who to use lol
>>58269441>>58268694Volt White 2 Anon again. Got my shit together, I'm reading the fucking wiki like gospel, and i'm getting through. Broadened the team a lot with a fuckton of fire types to murder Burgh and a Rhyhorn for Elesa. Only thing on my mind is do I go for Sheer Force Totodile or Eevee as my Castilia encounter? what is the health threshold for a gym leader to use their potion
>>58274495When they hit red health. Maybe there's a bit of variance in the specifics, but they will use a potion if their mon's health drops down to red.
>run into Mt.Coronet without repels>remember I need repels for feebas encounter >tell myself "oh well, let's just pretend I used a repel">run from every encounter until I get to the lake >catch feebasExplain to me how this is cheating. There's no way this is any different than if I just actually used a repel.
>>58275089Because Feebas wasn't the first thing you encountered. You're choosing an encounter instead of being forced to work with what the game gives you.
>>58275623>You're choosing an encounter instead of being forced to work with what the game gives you.How is that any different from chosing Feebas by using a Repel to block all encounters until you reach the Feebas lake?
>>58275089>Explain to me how this is cheating. What are the rules in a Nuzlocke?
>>58275800As long as we can agree that repel manipulation is cheating too. It's the definition of "choosing an encounter", regardless of the method.
>>58275861Cool but answer the question
I beat Burgh but it was painful. his Leavanny and my Magnemite had a weird stalemate where Leavanny would REFUSE to be fully paralyzed for 15+ turns and would keep spamming Razor Leaf (never missed btw). I was forced to spam Fresh Water because Magnemite is obviously in lethal range to a critical hit at 50-60% HP and Razor Leaf has an increased chance for a critical hit. strangely enough, I only remember getting crit by Razor Leaf once, which is extremely unusual for my track record. I used 20 Fresh Waters on that fight but at least no one died. Not looking forward to Elesa.
>>58274294Volt White 2 Anon again, back after burning through Burgh. Only hiccup was the Bonsley I got as an egg and leveled up to sudowoodo died to a butterfree at the gym because I completely forgot it was Reckless, not sturdy. Got outsped and OHKO'd. Decided to go with Eevee seeing how I can get Totodile later in a hidden grotto and it'll be useful for the league in equal part to an Espeon with power gem, dazzling gleam and Mystical fire.Feeling better about the run now. If it continues to go smoothly i might redo volt white 2 in challenge mode with a 100% randomized wild mon run.
>>58276114You must like the Drayano hacks to want to run them so much. Great looking team, too!
>>58276662I'm just nuzlocking romhacks as of late and have never done BB/VW or BB2/VW2 before. A nuzlocke is fun when there is a large variety of pokemon for a team with a little increase in the difficulty. But I will say the difficulty is WAY higher in normal mode of VW2 compared to my run of BB. Every single fight i'm looking at the wiki to see what the fuck i'm facing, which is kind of annoying. Its one thing to plan for gyms and the league but having to rotate the team and grind just to assure no deaths in the next fight is really getting on my nerves. Its even more irksome when the level caps are so fucking low in this game while also explicitly making evolutions and moves only available AFTER the next level cap. Drayano is one autistic son of bitch. But I have to ask, do people normally not nuzlocke drayano romhacks?
I still can’t believe you can buy Castelliacones for ₽100 and then sell them to the gourmet’s maid for ₽2000 in B2W2
>>58276895>Drayano is one autistic son of bitch. Most of the stuff you’re complaining about is AphexCube’s work. >But I have to ask, do people normally not nuzlocke drayano romhacks?Drayano’s games were pretty much the face of difficulty hacks until Radical Red came around so a lot of people associate them with muh Smogon simulator. A friend of mine thought his games were exclusively Nuzlockes for a bit based on on how you rarely see YouTubers playing this casually.
Day 112I traveled back west across Paldea until I reached Cascarrafa City. After treating myself to some new clothes, I went to challenge the local gym leader, Kofu—only to discover he had rushed off to Porto Marinada, forgetting his wallet in the process. Taking it upon myself to return it, I journeyed through the scorching Asado Desert. Along the way, Crocalor finally evolved into a mighty Skeledirge, its fiery song echoing across the dunes. I also caught an Orthworm tunneling beneath the sands and a mischievous Maschiff lurking near the edges of the desert.Eventually, I reached Porto Marinada, reunited Kofu with his wallet, and followed him back to Cascarrafa for our battle. The fight began with Brambleghast facing off against Veluza. Veluza struck hard with Pluck, but Brambleghast held steady, using Hex and Mega Drain to whittle it down while keeping itself alive. Next came Wugtrio—Naclstack opened with Salt Cure before I switched back to Brambleghast, whose Mega Drain finished the job while Salt Cure’s damage ticked away. Finally, Kofu sent out his ace, a Terastallized Crabominable. Kilowattrel rose to the challenge, striking with a swift Electro Ball. Despite not Terastallizing itself, the blow was more than enough to topple the hulking crab, sealing Kofu’s defeat and earning me another gym badge.
Finally, FINALLY got to start the Platinum leg of my journey after a ton of planning and grinding, and oh boy what a doozy this'll be. In honor of my favorite move, Natural Gift, I decided I wanted to dedicate an entire run of a game to it, and there's really no better place to do it than Platinum. Since I'm purposefully handicapping myself by only allowing myself to use Natural Gift in battle (outside of Status moves), I've allowed myself to trade over the berries I've accumulated in Pearl until I'm able to grow my own, which has definitely been a big help. Roark ended up being easy enough, one Pinap Berry each from Mercury and Gooey Goo allowed them to unleash a 70BP Grass Natural Gift against Roark's Geodude and Onix, and a Hondew Berry allowed Gemini Eve which I went double odds for hunting in Oreburgh Mine to unleash a STAB 70BP Ground Natural Gift which was more than enough to finish off Cranidos. I'm already excited for the next leg of this, it's been quite a thrill going into fights with limited ammo as it were, every step has to be carefully planned to avoid the risk of death (this is still a nuzlocke after all), but that's the whole appeal, right?
Any recommendations for games to Monolocke?
>>58275089>>58275690>>58275861You're not wrong about Repel maniping, but you're still stupid for going forward with catching Feebas. If you don't like Repel maniping, just catch whatever your first encounter is
>using repels counts as cheating nowhow ridiculous lol
>>58278150If repel manip is cheating, then lmao, i'm the worlds biggest cheater. I'm always looking how to better my odds. Its a mechanic of the game so whats the damage utilizing it?
just finished my challenge run, my merch run.noticed a lot of my favorites were available in white 2 so i decided to use them all, was gonna call it like an "anime run" and use them at my favorite stage in their line, like how ash doesn't fully evolve pokemon sometimes, but then as i was brainstorming my team i realized i had some form of merch of all them, so i decided not to evolve my sandile (i have a sandile plush, but no krookodile) and use them in the forms i have merchandise for. no items in battle, set mode, and trying not to overlevel too hard. final levels ranged between 54 (reuniclus) and 65 (sandile), with the intention before the last e4 run being 54 for the fully evolved mons, 58 for flaaffy, and 62 for first stages, but then they leveled up based on the use. lilligant did a ton to carry my ass thanks to quiver dance and leech seed. she almost solo'd iris, managing to set up 4 QDs since she also had synthesis and hydreigon kept trying to finish her off with dragon pulse instead of another flamethrower. then druddigon missed dragon tail, letting my 2hko with giga drain, and haxorus dragon danced instead of attacking. managed to one shot lapras and aggron, but was out of pp by the time archeops came out, so i just set up leech seed and sac'd her, then did some intimidate shuffling with arcanine and sandile before letting aron finish it off with some protects, a double edge misclick, and iron headoh, and their names are LargeMarge the Arcanine, Matilda the Lilligant, Mrs. Grin the Sandile, Megan the Aron, Shetus the Reuniclus, and Jason the Flaaffy. somehow ended up with a super girl heavy team. even my starter, Scallop the Oshawott, was a girl. she was on the main team all game since i have an oshawott from a blind box, and i just rotated one of my seven out throughout, but for the elite 4 i figured i'd use my absolute favorite six
>>58277895Fire type starterless DP monolocke. In all seriousness, how about a BW Fighting type locke? That should provide a real challenge, especially at the E4.
>>58278682Funnily enough I did do Fire DP. Was pretty much an Infernape solo run. I’ll try out Fighting in BW though! I like all of the Fighting Types except Keldeo who wouldn’t be used anyway. Thanks anon
Day 113I pushed deeper into Tagtree Thicket, where I caught a lurking Spidops before setting my sights on another Team Star camp. This one was led by Atticus, the so-called toxic ninja. After clearing out his grunts, I challenged him directly. Naclstack opened the fight with Salt Cure and Mud Shot against Skuntank, though it was poisoned in the process. Once Skuntank fell, I switched to Orthworm, who bulldozed through his Revavroom with ease. Learning Dig mid-battle, Orthworm then outmaneuvered Muk completely, striking from underground while Muk couldn’t land a hit. Finally came the Navi Starmobile. Its repeated Flame Charges nearly overwhelmed me, but Orthworm stood resilient, alternating between Dig and Bulldoze until the massive vehicle broke down. With Atticus defeated, three of the five Team Star bosses had been dealt with.I pressed on toward Medali, where Naclstack evolved into Garganacl along the way, and I even caught a ghostly Greavard to add to my collection. At Medali, I faced the local gym leader Larry, an overworked businessman who seemed to carry the weight of his dull job into battle. Grafaiai led the charge, using Poison Jab to dispatch Komala before being put to sleep by Yawn. Orthworm entered next, setting up Sandstorm and slowly wearing down Dudunsparce with Iron Head, even while paralyzed. Finally, Larry Terastallized his Staraptor, but Garganacl stepped in, smashing through with Hammer Arm to secure the win. Larry sighed in defeat, no doubt wondering how he’d explain another failure to his boss.
>>58276895I mostly see them in the context of Nuzlockes, and i would say that Drayano hacks are probably the most common hacks that get Nuzlocked here.
>>58280102I haven't seen anyone ITT or the last 3 doing any dray hacks. Just vanilla
>>58278202Congrats on the run!>>58280122There's one or two doing runs now, it's just specified in their posts instead of the images. Most Nuzlockes here are also runs of regular games, but when there's a romhack being run from my observations it's usually Drayano hacks.
If someone did a Nuzlocke of Mariomon, would this be the right place to post about it?

in gen v, is confuse ray the best move in the game? ai is telling me that a 50% chance for a failed move that lasts 2-5 turns means there is an 88% chance for at least one move to fail per use, causing big self damage as well, and it's a 100% accurate move
Well I'm about ready as I ever am to take on Misty. Not sure what I'm in for, but I do know I'd better be ready for Water and Psychic with high Special threats at the very least.Leveled up Boethius, Aquinas, Eleanor and Heloise since they are all either tough or have moves that threaten Staryu and Starmi, but let's hope for no nasty surprises
Alright, So Misty was a cinch.I'm starting to get the hang of this, and it seems my knowledge from the base game is still good for most predictions about this romhack. However, tragedy struck when, in the Underground Tunnel between Routes 5 and 6, a badly chosen fight with a Cool Trainor with Karate Chop gave the unfrotunate reminder that Heloise is Water/Normal type in this hack. Yet another water type went to meet Our Divine Lord at the hands of these filthy heathens. Her's will be a memory of strength and courage, and much blood will be spilled in her name. However, for each lose, we gain two new followers. Justinian and Joan have joined in the battle, and it's a boon to have another Grass type for coverage.Next, we gird our loins in preparation for Lt. Surge. God grant us the strength to overcome

Tri Attack Freezes it.Two more Tri Attacks takes Alcremie out.
>>58282165And then... bad stuff happened almost immediately afterwards. Trying to make sure I didn't end up overleveled, I took both Punky and Billy Dane off the main team temporarily....Just before the first fight that Hop uses Cinderace in. With no resist and Pyro Balls flying, I ended up having to fight it off with Giana, Kriss Krass, and finally Handegg knocking it out after the other two died. But Snorlax at the end of the fight ended up requiring Handegg too, and in the end he fell to Body Slam, having hurt Snorlax enough for me to clean up.Three mons lost in one fight, including the team captain and the goalkeeper...
>>58282097If they're the first encounter, they're good. They're so rare though i probably wouldn't even bother trying to grind, except for the guaranteed Minccino on route 5. Skill Link with its move pool is scary.
>>58268711Two gyms down in Sacred Gold, but not smooth sailing.I was grinding up before hand and completely forgot about the rival battle in Azalea which resulted in Paul's death. The Cuckington loss was probably avoidable. I had little Shrewtina in early to deal with Butterfree, Fremp took out Heracross. I then locked Cuckington into rollout, killed off two and then died to Scyther. Good ol' Keith Beans mopped up afterwards.Trying to level up a few team members outside of the main 6 for now, so giving myself some options.
>>58281729It's a great move, especially on a quick team member, but you're left to the whims of rng as to whether you take damage or not, and sometimes eng really hates you.

>>58283903>>58283898Off to an AMAZING start. Technician Flareon is looking to be a solid starter. For a while it had to rely on quick attack and extrasensory off its meager special while adamant, but not its got BP90 Bite and Double Kick so its ready to roll!On top of that fucking FLASH FIRE ESCAVALIER. Pretty damn good. Escavalier dominated Cheren and the rival fight, now I'm just grinding up Meditite to help be support against Roxie. Challenge mode hasn't been that much more challenging than normal other than a slight increase in the level cap. Not even a double or rotation battle. Is the difficulty really just the level?
Okay, now that the Plasma snafu has been cleared up, the healing can begin.Head on to Route 23, while I was exp. share-raising FB the Litwick to be spot-filler #6, nature prostrated itself to me with a Gligar that was now mine. Klein would make himself useful, once I acquired Waterfall. Moko took it upon herself to learn Surf in honor of her fallen tag-partner, Wave, and Razor Fang was acquired back in the wayback. Never really had a Gliscor before in these runs... Plumb the depths of what Route 23 had to offer--except, I'm in Spring, so I can't examine that far-off waterfall... Spend a couple of heart scales, some shards to get Point a definite steel attack, and now, we're ready...For the slog that is Victory Road...
Day 114With five badges under my belt, I set my sights on the icy heights of northern Paldea. Climbing through Dalizapa Passage, I caught a rare Frigibax lurking in the frigid caves, then ventured higher into the snowdrifts of Glaseado Mountain where I added a cheerful Cetoddle to my team. The mountain air was sharp and unforgiving, but the views were incredible, stretching across all of Paldea. As I pressed deeper into the range, I discovered not one but two gyms hidden among the peaks. The treacherous climbs and winding paths tested my endurance, yet the thrill of exploration drove me onward. After days of trekking, battling trainers, and braving the blizzards, I finally felt I had mapped out the entire mountain range—every snowy trail, every frozen cavern, every secret tucked away in Glaseado’s icy embrace.
>>58284674Challenge mode only changes the levels of npc mons, they keep their stats from normal mode. I was under the impression that it was deliberate, but reading up on it, it might be a bug instead.
>>58283022Ah, the days when GF could instill fear into you when the rival showed up and you weren't healed. Even in romhacks, Silver gets the jump on you and Geodude is the GOAT for Johto. Are you ending things at Red?
>>58286781Gen 1 I think has only one (two if you count Silph) fight that you can see he is there before hand. Gen 2 has none. And I think from there out you can prepare for the fights, except maybe in gen 4.
Does a Sacred Gold romhack end at Lance 1 or after beating Red?
>>58287634Depends on what you want but I see most people stop at Lance in the Johto games.
>>58287634Most regular Johto runs in my experience end at Red. Not sure about Sacred Gold, not too many people run it in favor of the gen 5 hacks instead. If it's your run, it's your rules, so choose whichever you want.
daye 115At the peak of Montenevera, I stepped into the gym and found myself face-to-face with Rhyme, the ghost-type leader who insisted on a double battle. I opened with Skeledirge and Grafaiai while she sent out Mimikyu and Banette. Knowing how dangerous ghost-types could be, I immediately Terastallized Skeledirge into a pure fire type to remove its ghost weakness. The gamble paid off—Skeledirge’s Bite followed by Shadow Ball quickly dispatched Banette, while Grafaiai first stripped Mimikyu of its disguise with Knock Off, then struck it down with Poison Jab.With her opening pair down, Rhyme sent out her ace duo: Toxtricity and Houndstone. She wasted no time Terastallizing Toxtricity, but Skeledirge and Grafaiai struck fast—Shadow Ball and Knock Off landed back-to-back, eliminating it before it could act. That left only Houndstone, which Grafaiai crunched down with a decisive Bite, sealing my victory. After leaving Montenevera, I descended back into the Asado Desert, this time to face the titan Great Tusk. Brambleghast entered the fray, and with just a few well-placed Giga Drains, the massive ancient beast fell far easier than expected. With that titan defeated, I turned my sights back south. On the way, I caught an Espathra, and when Bombirdier eluded me in the wild, I lured one into Alfornada Cavern and caught it there, rounding out my growing roster.
>>58277802So Natural Gift is the only offensive move you can use? Interesting. I also like seeing Solrock seeing use. It's one of those moms that don't get much love.>>58281934Water/Normal is an interesting change. It does differentiate it from the horde of other Water types i guess.
>>58283898Randomizer random ability Volt White 2 anon back at it again.>>58286015Gym Leaders and special battle now seem to be aligning with the variety now that I'm past Burgh.but WHAT THE FUCK is the level jump in Nimbasa. I got my shit rocked hard by Lenora and her husband. The trainers the route right before them were ~28 and then fucking Lenora is 34! Then Route 5 has the bulkiest fucking Volbeat ever who survived a flame wheel from Flareon and then hit back with a tinted lens +3 Bug Buzz to kill Contrary Simisear. Also Rip Poison Heal Levanny, I barely knew thee.currently in the box I have - Anger Point Lapras- Pickup Raichu- WONDER GUARD Vespiquen- Heatproof Cacturn- Pure Power Meditite (scripted, couldn't randomize)- Unaware Magmortar- Moody Ninetails- Cursed Body DunsparceI gotta get a team together for the triple battle with Elesa. I think Illusion Golett will be able to fuck with the AI in the center to spam discharge so I might be able to take advantage of it.
>>58284915Gliscor was very good to me in a Platinum run, it was strong, speedy, and tanky. Overall one of my best team members that run, hopefully you have the same success.
>>58290176Good going man. That Lenora fight is indeed BS. I had my shit wrecked by Unfezant of hers.Volbeat is on Route 16 but I get your pain. Few attempts were lost on that route. Route 5 and Route 16 before Elesa is where I used to lose mons left and right. It is one thing to make mandatory trainers, gym leaders or trainers that unlock some shit after you defeat them harder than usual but this romhack ups the difficulty for every trainer. After some time, you feel fatigued.BTW what method are you using for grinding? Battle wild Audinos? Rare candy "hacks"?
Considering a run of Diamond:-Not using Dupes Clause-Mount Coronet Clause(interior/exterior considered separate)-Gyarados banned (since it is really easy to abuse without dupes clause on top of being strong to begin with)
Day 116In Alfornada, I challenged the psychic-type gym leader Tulip, whose elegant team put up little resistance. Skeledirge started strong, taking down her Farigiraf with two Bites, then cleanly eliminating Espathra with a single Shadow Ball. Orthworm stepped up next, and with one decisive Iron Head, Gardevoir fell in an instant. For the finale, Brambleghast Terastallized and unleashed Phantom Force, one-shotting Tulip’s Terastallized Florges and securing me the victory. With my seventh badge in hand, I returned to the snowy peaks of Glaseado Mountain to face the final gym leader, Grusha. Skeledirge wasted no time, burning through Frosmoth with Flamethrower. Orthworm then entered the battle, making Beartic flinch with Iron Head before finishing it off with another. Garganacl handled Cetitan, weakening it with Salt Cure before using Hammer Arm, though it took heavy damage from Liquidation and couldn’t continue. That left Grusha’s ace—her Terastallized Altaria. I sent Orthworm back in, Terastallized it, and with another timely Iron Head flinch followed by Smack Down, Altaria was defeated. With two more badges secured and my journey through the gyms complete, I pushed further north into the frigid terrain, where I expanded my team by catching a Lokix and a Revavroom.
>>58291094Indeed, the difficulty in challenge mode is wild compared to Volt White 1. I have to look at the wiki now religiously to make sure I know what each trainer has coming after that Volbeat.I grind by going back to route 1 and 252 EV train mon on HP/Attack or the Ranch for Special Attack/Speed. Then after that I just go to the newest route and audino grind up. this romhack is fatiguing but the randomized mon and ability element is really keeping me interested. Technician Flareon gets Fairy type Covet for basically an item stealing better accuracy rough play and flame charge is 60BP so he gets a speed boost off a fire type raging bull basically. Pair that with Double kick being 90BP altogether as well and his coverage physically is insane.Right now I just need to figure out how to deal with this Elesa triple battle. I have Illusion on Golett so I can bait her mon into spamming discharge if I have lapras in the back. I can have volt absorb Victreebel on one side to stay healed up but its the other side i can't decide. Vespiquen is still vulnerable with Wonder Guard to electric and my raichu has pickup so it is gonna get chipped to death by so many discharges.
>>58289492>So Natural Gift is the only offensive move you can use?Yup, it's a challenge I've done a couple of times before, but this'll be my first time doing it as a nuzlocke. I had to plan a couple of things ahead of time to be able to get access to some of the better options, Snorlax happens to be S tier and I've been able to lock down my Munchlax trees, now I just need the patience to get it
>>58283022Well that was a piece of piss.A combo of Todd and Earl just completely trivialised Whitney. Spore everything, set up swords dance, out-speed everything (but the Miltank) and kill everything in one hit. I love Todd.Like I said before, keeping a good few team member up to speed on the level front, swapping bits and pieces out for when I need them. Quite content with things so far. Luckily no more grinding mishaps and getting caught out by rival battles.>>58286781Geodude is a beautiful boy and I would very much like to take my Keith Beans right to the end. Honestly I want to go all the way to Red, so unless I get really desperate to move onto renegade or the gen 5 hacks soon then I'll likely go all the way.>>58290176How you enjoying challenge mode? I need to get to it at some point, obviously will do if I'm running the Dray gauntlet. Fuckin love Golett, hope the little guy pulls through.
>>58287831I used to do this until I had an epiphany: by banning the Pokémon in the Hall of Fame, wild Kanto become more viable party-members and also trainer/gym battles increase in difficulty. Now I end the run at Red.
>>58294285Its fatiguing, but like I told the other anon>>58291094The Random ability and mon is keeping me interested. Its ridiculous how massive the level jumps are from one area to another. Other grips- There are no fucking items and the creator literally removed the majority of wild held items to disadvantage you- Enemy teams get illegal fucking moves that their mon can't even learn until way later in level up while you are stuck with only level up moves and next to no TMs. This is wild because Volt White 1 had amazing TM coverage as you went through the game without feeling like cheating.- Enemy teams get perfect items and ability combos (one mon leads with drought, the next with solar power or chlorophyll)But overall, I'm having fun. I was able to make it out of Elesa triple battle alive, but lost my Pickup Raichu, but surprisingly that pickup ability was CLUTCH. Here is my set up. I Had Raichu on the left, Golett (illusion as lapras) in the center, and a Swampert I picked up as a mudkip in Anville Town on the right. Because Golett was disguised as Lapras, the AI kept spamming Discharge over and over to kill it. Golett and Swampert were spared any damage from their side. I would have Raichu first use fly to avoid the Bulldoze from Golett and then switch to Night Shade the next turn so Raichu would only take damage from 2 discharges the turn it flies down to attack. What was crazy is that my first bulldoze proc'd Electivire's Shuca Berry, and when Raichu landed it picked it up, meaning it could take a bulldoze. So I did back to back bulldoze with Raichu picking up the Shuca Berry over and over. However when Zebstrike came out it outsped and flare blitz'd raichu to death. But by then I had already swept 4/6 mon. Flareon came in and finished off who was left with Swampert and Night Shade off Golett. What could have been a run ender will be was manageable. ON TO DRIFTVEIL
And so, let's just skip the preamble--going through Victory Road carefully was a slog...Slap the rival around with a careful dance--I accidentally had him named 'Hug' instead of Hugh, wasn't paying attention...Used Rare Candies, got full restores up the zoo and zza...Next Time... the finale.
>>58293028That's some good Iron Head luck, two flinches almost back to back. Getting close to the end, are you doing the dlc as well?
That's Gardenia taken care of! I was a little worried going into this fight because of our low levels, grinding against wild Pokemon with Natual Gift is a chore however, so I decided to run it and gun it. Her Turtwig goes down easy enough, Mercury sets up two Leers as we wait for Turtwig to set up Sunny Day, which allows our 70BP Fire Natural Gift to hit even harder. Hippolyta comes in against her Cherrim, taking negligible damage as another Sun-boosted Natural Gift demolishes. Roserade is a bit scary as not only is it fully evolved, it is 4 levels or more above our entire team, which can be quite troublesome with both Mercury and Hippolyta lacking a way to attack at this point. At least Hippolyta is able to fire off a Leer first, taking little damage thanks to her naturally high Special Defense, before switching off to Dark Amber who sadly takes a Stun Spore directly to the face. Magical Leaf does a worrying amount of damage, a second one could spell the end for us, but thankfully Dark Amber manages to ignore the paralysis to fire off a 70BP Flying Natural Gift which is just barely enough to finish off Roserade, nabbing us the win.Coming up are some worrying fights, Jupiter's Skuntank and Fantina's Mismagius in particular are some big worries, but at least we'll have access to the VS Seeker soon which will be a huge help with grinding at least
Day 117I added a Wugtrio to my team before storming another Team Star base, this one led by Ortega. After battling through his underlings, it was time to face him directly. Kilowattrel opened the match with a clean one-shot on his Azumarill using Discharge. Grafaiai followed, jabbing his Wigglytuff down with Poison Jab. Orthworm stepped in next, landing two heavy Iron Heads to dismantle his Dachbun. Finally, Grafaiai Terastallized to finish the fight, hitting the Ruchbah Starmobile with Poison Jab and sealing the victory with a devastating Gunk Shot. Ortega’s defeat marked yet another blow to Team Star. With that behind me, I headed to the vast waters of Casseroya Lake where I caught a swift and dangerous Veluza. But the lake wasn’t just for exploration—it was home to the final Titan Pokémon. At first, I battled a massive Dondozo. Garganacl’s Salt Cure began whittling away its strength while Brambleghast slammed it with Power Whip until the great fish collapsed. But the battle wasn’t over—Dondozo had only been a puppet. The true Titan revealed itself: a cunning Tatsugiri. Using the same strategy as before, Garganacl’s Salt Cure combined with Brambleghast’s relentless Power Whip proved overwhelming. Tatsugiri fell, and with it, all the Titan Pokémon threatening Paldea were finally defeated.
>>58296517That's a no but thanks. Don't even have the DLC. Never even did the DLC of Sword and Shield.>>58298217Any advice for Eri? I've had troubles with her in the past and she's incredibly strong.
How did the Elite 4 fare?Shauntal: Point, Moko, Klein, and Chris P. moved like phantoms in the night, slicing Cofagrigus, drowning Golurk, nibby-nibbying on Drifblim, and Head Smashing the Chandelure.Marshal: LOL Marshal (tbs, though, Klein with Swords Dance + Acrobatics = good)Grimsley: Chris P. and Klein would tag team all of his pokies. Especially as Chris proved his attraction to Liepard by flattening her with his Hammer Arm of LOVE! Oh, and Ice Gem on Klein helped with the Krookodile.Caitlin: Point took point, dozed off after slaying Musharna, swapped to Klein in case Reuniclus Focus Blast, then Acrobatics. Sea Salt took on the Sigilyph with Mirror Coat and Ice Beam, and then swap back to sleepy Point on the Gothitelle. Full Restore, Night Slash, eat a boosted Thunderbolt, Night Slash again.Okay... now, for Iris...Lead with Sea Salt against her Hydreigon. Quick Claw springs into action AND I land a lucky Blizzard...!Druddigon, though, let's go with Ice Beam--make her waste a Full Restore after eating a Rock Slide--swap her out with Point. Do an Iron Defense--and Drud counters with FOCUS BLAST... ouch. Moko leaps in with Return chair.Lapras comes in--need the moment to heal Sea Salt, so Moko tanks a Thunderbolt to bring a healthy Sea Salt in. Wow, Sing actually put her to sleep? Time to play Mirror Coat the Surfs!Archeops is Arche-next, tag in to Klein--who takes a Rock Slide and Acrobatics at full strength, but his potent Ice Gem helped him bring the pain AND freeze the defeatist. Top people up, and then Acrobatics to knock 'em down.On Aggron, Klein U-turns over to Sugg... 'how can I drain this Soft-R when he's part Steel?' Sugg found the way regardless--his nutrients were delicious.Haxorus... the ace. Sugg Toxics the beast, and tried to get Clear Smog on it, but its Earthquake tore him to chunks. Klein swooped up, Swords Dance to Dragon, and instead of killing Klein, he did ANOTHER Dragon Dance, leaving Klein to hit him with Acrobatics!
>>58298315And so, it is with a warm heart, I can say:"WHITE HAS NOW UNLOCKED EASY MODE FOR BLACK" (Pokemon)Who'd think the little Champion with the bumpin and peppy beat would be one of the most intense ones, too? Regardless, White 2 is White Done!
>>58298219She has coverage for Flying types on half her team, but Kilowattrel might be able to take out Toxicroak and Lucario, and the Starmobile if it can survive that long. Grafaiai is your only team member that isn't covered by her Annihilape's moveset.
>>58298336Congrats! I guess you'll be using Serperior in B2, what else do you have planned?
>>58282051samefag here>still on my nuzlocke break>someone just beat White 2>all I’ve done is buy a dozen Castelliacones everyday for the past 4 daysit’s so fucking over…
Day 118In the far north of Paldea, I reached the final Team Star base—the camp run by Eri, their most formidable crew boss. Her reputation preceded her: tall, muscular, and radiating sheer intimidation. After cutting through her ranks of grunts, it was time to face her directly. The fight began with Orthworm, who withstood Toxicroak’s Brick Break and retaliated with two crushing Earthquakes to secure the first victory. Next, Kilowattrel Terastallized into its flying form and took on her Passimian. Dual Wingbeat landed twice, felling the warrior ape despite its grit. Then came the real challenge—Annihilape. Its Rage Fist hit like a freight train, nearly overwhelming Skeledirge. I thought I’d lose him, but with one last breath, Skeledirge fired back with Shadow Ball, dropping the terrifying beast. Still reeling, Skeledirge pressed on and roasted Lucario with Torch Song, surviving a dangerous Dark Pulse in the process. Finally, Eri unleashed the Caph Starmobile. I brought Kilowattrel back in, still Terastallized and fueled by momentum. Hurricane slammed the engine hard, but the vehicle endured and countered with Spin Out. Kilowattrel barely stood but answered with one final Dual Wingbeat, silencing the engine once and for all. With Eri’s defeat, Team Star was officially disbanded. Their reign of mischief ended, and peace returned to Paldea’s schools and roads. My journey, however, wasn’t over. At Socarrat Trail, I added a fierce Tinkatuff to my collection before finishing my exploration of Paldea. Looking back, I knew who my true partners were—the six Pokémon that carried me through the region’s toughest battles: Skeledirge, Grafaiai, Garganacl, Kilowattrel, Brambleghast, and Orthworm. With them by my side, I was finally ready to challenge the Elite Four and the Champion.
>>58300979Give any advice to take on the Elite Four, Geeta, Penny, Arven and Nemona. I'm gonna need it.
>>58300558No need to get down, some people are just able to progress quicker than others. You're gonna have a ton of money when you start back up too.
>>58300095After Black 2, I'll definitely park myself in Gen 6 next, which is X/Y, and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, at 3 least times among each, one for each starter. I did the same on my fire red/leaf green and heart gold/soul sapphires
>>58301933all the money in the world… but I can only buy X-items in the late game…
>>58302117I love doing the same Casteliacone thing whenever I'm doing BW2, on top of building up the Join Avenue, it's nice being able to buy hundreds of Lemonades and Fresh Waters so I can keep the team topped off at all times without having to run back and heal after every other battle
>>58301070The E4 use Ground, Steel, Flying, and Dragon types. A good Ice Beam user should get some work in here, but watch out since Poppy has coverage against Fire types, and i would say her Tinkaton is where you start feeling the difficulty. Orthworm resists most of the moves that Hassel has, but he also has special moves and Super Fang on Noivern and Brick Break on Baxcaliber. Geeta's team from what i remember isn't so bad, she uses Gogoat and Avalugg, and i believe her ace comes out after Kingambit, which limits its ability.
>>58297888I don't think i've ever had issues with Gardenia. She just has too many things to beat her with at this point, you would have to challenge yourself. The crit hungry skunk and Fantina, in the other hand? Those are the make or break points for any run.
>>58302846>intentionally not buying the least cost effective itemvery shrewd indeed
>>58278202congrats you beated it.
>Pachirisu has picked up 2 Dusk & 1 Dawn Stone, Leftovers, & several Nuggets before the halfway point Best Pikaclone for a reason
>>58301070Penny is free, her team is just bunch of Eeveelutions with very shitty movesets... but before fighting her you'll encounter director Clavell and he can kick your ass to hell and back. His team is surprisingly well rounded and decent amount of surprise coverage.Arven's team got pretty much spoiled to your through the entire game. It's the 5 Pokemon he used against Titans + Mabosstiff. Overall I don't remember having issues against him.Geeeeeeeta sucks. Her team has some questionable choices of Pokemon and the two gimmicks that could make fight against her scary are misused hard. Just have something to deal with Kingambit - even if played sub-optimally, it can hit damn hard. You probably got already used to most of Nemona's team. For final battle she will add to it Orthworm and Dundunsparce. Keep in mind that she's smarter than Geeeeeeeeeta and is attempting to setup hazards at the start of battle and your starter is not a big fan of pointy rocks.Good luck!
Day 119With my final team assembled—Skeledirge, Grafaiai, Garganacl, Kilowattrel, Brambleghast, and Orthworm—I was ready to test myself at the Pokémon League of Paldea. Just outside, I caught a Tandemaus, not as a fighter this late in the journey but as one last addition to my growing collection. Then, with my six chosen partners, I stepped through the gates and faced the Elite Four.Rika fell with little resistance, her Ground-types crumbling under the pressure of my team. Poppy proved trickier, her Steel-types hitting hard, but my strategies broke through. Larry—back again in a new role—was laughably easy, and I couldn’t help but think his paycheck would take another cut after that defeat. Finally came Hassel, whose Dragon-types demanded caution, but careful moves and solid teamwork brought me victory. With the Elite Four defeated, only the Champion remained.Geeta stood tall, but her battle turned out to be one of the easiest I’d faced. Brambleghast slipped into the shadows with Phantom Force and took down Espathra in a single strike. Garganacl crushed Kingambit with Hammer Arm, then Skeledirge Terastallized and obliterated Avalugg with Overheat. Kilowattrel surged through Veluza with Discharge, while Grafaiai jabbed down Gogoat with venomous precision. Finally, Geeta’s ace Glimmora took the field, Terastallized and ready to fight. I answered with Orthworm. Though Glimmora resisted the first Earthquake and countered with a Rock-type Tera Blast, it wasn’t enough. Orthworm struck again with another Earthquake, and Geeta’s last Pokémon collapsed. And just like that, it was over. Geeta, the so-called top Champion of Paldea, had fallen without much effort. Perhaps she was the easiest Champion I’d ever faced, but regardless, I had claimed the title. With Skeledirge and my faithful team at my side, I became the Champion of the Paldea region.
>>58306020Thanks for the advice, really helped me.
>USA lost to Europe 4½ - 11½Now that Ryder Cup is coming to a close, I won’t have to wake up at 2:30 AM anymore. More importantly, I’ll be able to continue my White 2 Nuzlocke soon.
>>58307946How was the event itself? Looking forward to seeing your run continue!
>>58306535Not many updates left to go now. How are you feeling now that the end is near?

>>58309535Sad.
Day 120Despite becoming the Champion of Paldea, one final mission awaited me: venturing into the Great Crater of Paldea under Professor Sada’s orders. Descending into the depths of Area Zero, I found myself in a vast, untouched paradise. The landscape stretched endlessly—a hidden world of waterfalls, crystalline cliffs, and prehistoric energy that felt older than time itself. While exploring this breathtaking but dangerous place, I caught a Glimmora and pressed onward, deeper and deeper, until I reached the Zero Lab at the crater’s heart. There, I was greeted not by Sada herself, but by an AI replica bearing her face. The real Professor Sada had died long ago; this machine, built in her image, was all that remained. She explained the truth: the time machine at the bottom of the crater was unleashing ancient Pokémon into the modern world, and they were far too powerful to coexist with our era. She asked me to shut it down. But when the moment came, her programming went haywire—she was designed to protect the time machine at all costs. To stop the chaos, I had to battle her.Her prehistoric team emerged from the mists of time. Kilowattrel swooped in first, striking down Slither Wing with Dual Wingbeat. I Terastallized Skeledirge into a pure Ghost-type and blasted Flutter Mane with Shadow Ball before incinerating Brute Bonnet with Torch Song. Orthworm entered next, shaking the earth to bring down Sandy Shocks, while Skeledirge returned to fell Scream Tail with another powerful Shadow Ball. Finally, the mightiest of them all appeared—Roaring Moon, a terrifying echo of a long-extinct dragon. Orthworm held firm, striking with Iron Heads to chip away its defenses until, at last, Roaring Moon collapsed.
>>58310073With the AI defeated, I shut down the time machine for good. Area Zero fell silent, its energy dispersing like a dream fading at dawn. I climbed back to the surface, knowing the region—and perhaps the world—was safe.Though I may not have claimed the Championship in Kanto and Johto, my victories across Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and now Paldea had forged a legacy all my own. From a rookie with a single starter to a trainer who stopped disasters and toppled legends, my journey had reached its natural end. I laid down my Poké Balls at last, content to retire—not as just another Champion, but as the trainer who saved entire regions from ruin.
>>58310073Well that's the end of my nuzlocke journey and I'm so happy I did it. From Fire Red, Heartgold, Emerald, Platinum, Black, White 2, X, Ultra Sun, Sword and Scarlet, it took me 120 days to complete, pretty much around about 4 months.Since it was all supposed to be apart of one nuzlocke, the original rule was if I caught a pokemon in Kanto, I was not allowed to use it in any other pokemon region as apart of the nuzlocke and this goes to other regions as well. It did get tiring and limiting however as at a certain point, I got bored of listing out what I had caught in past games and what I hadn't caught in past games and I eventually just made it a rule to only catch gen 9 pokemon by the time I got to Paldea.I've decided next nuzlocke I do, I'm not gonna be so limiting and I'm not gonna make all 10 games into one big nuzlocke next time. Right now, I'm gonna take a break from nuzlockes but I do want to return. Some ideas I came up was only catching pokemon that are the aces of human characters which means I wouldn't have to keep track of a list or doing gen 4 and only catching cross gen evos or gen 7 and only catching regional variants of gen 1 pokemon.I don't know if I will make posts about it though, I might just go back to posting in the nuzlocke general. I know some people like my threads and like reading them but I also know some people don't and don't want to see my threads which is understandable. For now, I will see you all later. Goodbye for now.
>>58295264Volt White 2 anon back, WE MADE IT THROUGH DRIFTVEIL WITHOUT ANY BLOOD.Had to switch up my team hard, but Clay's insanely strong team with infinite sandstorm made it rough, but thanks to the AI always going for kills over setting up, I was able to avoid a complete wipe from his shell smash Torterra.Heres how Clay went down:- Heatproof Cacturne tanked an ice punch from Seismatoed and OHKO'd back through Rindo berry with an Arm Needle (100BP in this romhack)- AI then sent out Sand Rush proc'd Excadrill to do X-scissor, I swapped into Intimidate keldeo who tanks that and an Earthquake to OHKO back with Wise Glasses Bubblebeam- AI sends out Torterra, but because my Keldeo was <25% HP it didn't set up Shell Smash, it went for the wood hammer. I swapped in Wonder Guard Vespiquen to nullify it. AI then went for Head Smash, I swapped to Medicham- Ice Punch OHKO Torterra- Somehow he outspeeds Mamoswine and OHKOs with High Jump Kick- OUTSPEEDS GARCHOMP? Does ~75% damage and eats an Earthquake. After that and all the Sandstorm chip he has literally 3 HP left.- swap to Wonder Guard Vespiquen who is immune to all of Garchomps attacks and just Attack Order and Heal Order him to death slowly- He sends out Nidoking for thunderbolt, I swap in Marshstomp and OHKO with aqua Tail. Insane that my Cacturn of all pokemon would help me to force the AI order to my favor so I could deal with Sand Rush Excadrill with ease and that Medicham took out half the team somehow outspeeding. Also I had my fucking Cursed Body Dunspace be a champion dealing with one of Clay's NPC fights where he had a flying gem acrobatics Gligar. Dunspace switched in on it, yawned, roosted, coiled and swept. Dude made a fight that was gonna be potentially a bloody one bloodfree.ONWARD TO MISTRALTON CITY
>>58310073Congrats! You've been going hard at it for awhile now, you've earned that break.
'sup, /nuz/. Don't know how often this has been done but I'm gonna attempt to resurrect a tryhard Leafgreen run from all the way back in 2018 (!!) that I never finished. I got past Blaine+Sevii Islands and I think I just stopped because I fell out of love with Pokemon and had other games to play at the time.Everything was very well-documented back then though, so I know what I caught and what areas I still have encounters in, etc. I'm pretty rusty these days so hopefully I can actually match up to my sweaty ruleset.
nicknames are the biggest meme in the nuzlocke community

Third gym down, and much easier than expected to boot! After spending quite a bit of time to grind, grow berries, and hunt after an elusive munchy friend, the team was finally ready to take on Fantina. With a Rabuta Berry each equipped (70BP Ghost) we start the battle, Mercury facing off against her Duskull which can do little but set up a piddly Future Sight as Mercury Leers it and knocks it out in one fell swoop. Haunter comes in, its Hypnosis getting blocked by a swift Taunt by Mercury before he switches into Gemini Eve, who proceeds to tank two weak physical hits before oneshotting the troublesome specter. Mismagius is last, who is foolishly baited into firing off a Magical Leaf which Dark Amber tanks beautifully, who proceeds to land a critical hit to finish the battle off. I'm unsure if that last crit was necessary or not, I wasn't really expecting a oneshot as I was saving Pogchamp for the final hit, but turns out he didn't have to do anything! So far so good all things considered, especially now that we have access to Watmel, Durin, and Belue Berries (80BP Fire, Water, and Electric, respectively) and soon will be able to buy berries at Veilstone Department Store (only 60BP stuff, but that's great for dealing with small fry), hopefully this good streak keeps up!>>58311438Agreed, it makes any potential losses that much more impactful if you've bonded with your mons, which naming them is a big part of>>58310966Oh dang, 2018, that's going back a bit, good on you for picking back up again. Team's looking pretty stacked, hopefully they'll help compensate for any rust!
Whitney aftermath
>>58312495serves him right for not following the nickname theming
>>58312520I could have sworn I heard Butters going “Oh mittens” in an episode of South Park, either way I am not going to use Raticate with Ice fang to counter Lance when I already picked the Feraligator line as the starter
>>58312526good point. I’d like to tell you to use “crap-baskets” (Dragonball z abridged) somewhere in your playthrough but it’s way too long.
>>58312536C.Baskets would work
>>58312538huh, I thought the limit was 8 characters. maybe I’m misremembering.
>>58312544I feel like it’s 10 in gen 4 and 8 in gen 3 and below but that’s based on gut alone
>>58310966>2018Damn, seven years. I went on a sabbatical from Pokémon myself once, more born from running the same couple game so much than anything, but not nearly as long as you. Welcome back and good luck!
How strict do you guys handle encounters? I’m willing to forgive myself for fudging encounters with eggs or something like the Bug Catching Contest as long as items aren’t used in battle and permadeath still applies.
>>58313502I don't consider eggs encounters until they hatch. in Johto: you're forced to accept the Togepi egg in Violet City to proceed after Falkner.I still count the Bug Catching Contest as an encounter because there's no reason why it shouldn't be. You sign up for it and know what you're getting into.
>awful typing>awful stats>awful level up learnset>awful TM learnset>awful evolution level (Lv. 36) for when you get it (Lv. 14)>no winning gym/elite match ups…why does this thing even exist?
>>58313502Eggs, if I hatch them I count as the encounter for where I got it. Bug Catching Contest is one and done since you get to battle it. Now I might re-enter and then release what I catch if I need the Sun Stone. The Safari Zones, I usually give it one go through it that is it, but it has to be the same species as the first encounter. Because the fleeing is such a bullshit mechanic.
>>58312495That's not bad for Whitney and no Geodude considering she can get going with Rollout so easily.
>>58314903I accidentally over leveled my geodude and couldn’t be assed to grind ratatata to level 19, I got really lucky Pinsir didn’t get crit by rollout when she started so revenge and seismic toss were able to do it without her healing.
New to nuzlocke but have played gen 1-3 in my youth, got back into pokemon around gen 8 but I still struggle with typing matchups. Any suggestions what I should start with? I think playing all gens would be fun one day.
small update, pretty much did everything pre-league. also I got rid of the 'run ends when beat Mewtwo' bit because I rememebred it's tied to NatDex which needs 60 captures and I'm at 50 flat. Run now ends when I beat Blue. >Giovanni was a breeze, Showtime just clicked Surf>Blue was relatively simple, his Charizard burnt Gia with Flamethrower which complicated things but I managed to just outspeed and kill with Showtime>Went to do some capturing, I lost Critter the Raticate while Repel Manipulating to find a Dewgong, I kept it in to weaken the Dewgong and it popped Sheer Cold on me>Killed the 3 Legendary Birds for a bit of EXP and filled out the rest of my encounters, got 3 Krabby trying for a Horsea, not that I would really have any use for either at this stage>Went to Victory Road for the final stretch, however...>A Lv. 48 Machoke unintentionally broke through a repel when I had Juno in the lead. I paralyzed it so I could catch it, but I forgot it had Guts as an ability and then I got heemed by a Crit Submission, RIP. >Brought in Cipher the Magneton as Juno's replacement and hooked him up to an Exp Share while the other 5 powered me through the rest of victory roadWell, all that's left is grinding. As much as I hate to say it, Juno dying did solve a bit of a problem where my team was pretty weak against Lance to the point where I was considering swapping out a member. Either way, I should be good now, just need to grind.>>58311701I always said I'd finish the locke one day but never did, it was like 90% so might as well. I can tell I am quite rusty though>>58313463COVID+Time Blindness doesn't make it seem that long and thanks. And yeah, I've pretty much exhausted Gens 3-4 for all they're worth. Thankfully there's some good rom hacks out these days.
>>58315177Fire Red and Leaf Green are probably the easiest of the classic games to nuzlocke
>>58242558Starting a new nuzlocke, my second ever.>What are you running?Pokemon Blue>How are you running it?On a cartridge running on a GBA >Are you doing a weird ruleset? And if so, what is it?The ruleset is as follows: 1.If a pokemon is KOed, it goes to the Graveyard (PC Box 5) and can never return.2. You can only catch and use the first pokemon you encounter in each area. 3. Reloading save files to avoid losing a pokemon is forbidden. 4. All pokemon must have a nickname. 5. Starter will be chosen at random.6. No Pokemart outside of buying poke balls.7. Pokemon cannot be above the level of the next Gym Leader/Elite 4. If a pokemon becomes overleveled, it must be boxed until the next badge is obtained. 8. Gift pokemon may be used as long as it follows the "first encounter" rule.I'm more optimistic this time around. My first ever Nuzlocke was Platinum and I was running the same rules. I wound up getting soft locked before the first gym because my starter wound up overleveled and every other mon I caught died. RNG has decided I pick Charmander so I'm in for a tougher early game. Wish me luck.
>>58315177>>58315412FRLG, imo, is the best game for people to get into Nuzlockes. XY if you want a game with the modern typing system.
>>58315412>>58315560Thanks cuties
>>58315177do not nuzlocke gen 1. it's way too easy and will bore you to tears. and I say this as a filthy, unapologetic genwunner.
>>58315685No u. Hope to see your run in these threads bro
Had an interesting idea for a Nuzlocke, basically it’s a “lifespan locke” where every single catch has its own lifespan, as well as classic nuzlocke death on faint rules still applying >For every catch, randomly generate a number between the Mon’s Level+1 and the level of the ace of the game’s final boss, this number represents its Lifespan>When the mon reaches the Level equivalent to its Lifespan, it is considered Dead and must be boxed as soon as possible (ie if I generate a 31 for the Lifespan of a Spearow I caught, it dies when it reaches Lv. 31>Starter has immunity to this curse just for the sake of permanence but it can still die by fainting>If you enter a scenario where you can physically not leave a given area to box a Pokemon that lived out its Lifespan (such as the E4 Challenge), then it unlocks Temporary Suspension and can continue to live and battle until you can access a PC again>Maybe? All mons need their lifespan number somewhere in their nickname, but you could get creative with it, ie ‘Thirteen’, ‘Sl33py’, etcIt might sound like rng bullshit but I think it could lead to some interesting possibilities in how players approach the game. If I gen a mon with a lifespan that would take it to the E4 then I could box it to save, rather than battle with it, etc. And there are enough encounters that you would at least get some with usable lifespans.
>>58315914I would modify this by species, most bugs should get a pretty low range of levels to roughly reflect what their lifetimes are irl, same with small mammals while some fish or large mammals get much longer ranges.
How important is Volt Switch for late game BD? I’m considering putting it on one of my three Electric mons for Wake, to pivot into my Carvine for his Quagsire. Though the more I think about it I have a free switch against it since it will likely use Earth Power anyways.
>>58316290Eh I was going for something different, the lifespan thing is meant to be meta rather than world-accurate, basically a system that requires extra resource management with the random element adding excitement. To me, it’s a good thing that you could be in situations where you’d have to build around an early game bug because you highrolled them, it’s a nice change of pace from relying on the traditional nuzlocke staples like Gyarados, Crobat, etc.
I just lost Magnemite in the dumbest way possible. I must be tired because I was just pressing buttons for 2 turns, thinking I had Sturdy on the second turn when I didn't. I just got done from working a week of double shifts so it checks out that I'm not 100% there mentally. Still, it's a huge loss.
in retrospect, I think B is a more accurate tier for Magnemite
>>58310877Randomizer/Random ability Volt White 2 anon back, Just got humbled by 2 fucking kindergardeners that were 4 levels higher than every other trainer on the route, it took me by complete surprise. They also had fully optimized team with items. The Prankster Whimscott slept my entire team, never missed a sleep powder and all my mon waits the full 3 turns. Somehow the AI even knew to sleep me on the switch it was fucking vicious. My dumbass forgot that it was Gen VI that grass types could resist powders and my Volt Absorb Victreebel got snoozed and chipped to death. I had to sack my Anticipation Luxray to make it out alive. Only after Whimiscott was finally killed after 6 turns of sleep by my muk could i finally get control back in the fight. Even Wonder Guard Vespiquen couldn't make this fight manageable. Now I need to prep a team to face Corless with his fucking full team of poke-studios 600 BST mon. Wish me luck. After that its a planning session on how to deal with Skyla's triple battle.
I've got the itch to play Pokemon again for the first time in years and decided to play Arceus. I know next to nothing about it except that it's a departure from normal Pokemon in various vague ways (setting, catch method, open world, crafting??? elements I assume). Should I nuzlocke it? And if so are there any general Arceus specific nuzlocke guidelines that people like/agree upon?
>>58316999Nice get.You did great with just two losses. Excellent when considering challenge mode.Last run before I quit nuzlocking this game altogether ended on that battle. I was playing on Normal mode but I had a bit different scenario. I had already lost good mons to Juan beforehand but had fast attackers. Didn't thought much about the team but when Whimscott started Prankster Tailwind + Sleep Powder, it was basically over for me. I managed to kill it but Azumarill got the chance to setup. With +6 Atk, nothing stood any chance, and I lost the run and motivation for nuzlocke this game.
>>58317018…you can nuzlocke Arceus?
>>58317018Kind of up to you if you want to Nuzlocke Legends Arceus. I don't think i've seen anyone run it here actually, but you have to get creative since there aren't traditional routes and no random encounters.>>58317660There was one anon that Nuzlocked a Digimon game once, you can Nuzlocke a lot of things if you get creative.
>accidentally caught by a pokemon ranger>they send out Magby>Cottonee is out first>have to switch to my own Magby>their Magby used Flame Burst>my Magby is killed from green (critical hit)>send out Drilbur>their Magby used Flame Burst>Drilbur survives in red with 4 HP (critical hit)>Drilbur used Dig>Magby used Faint Attack but misses>Drilbur kills Magby but Flame Body triggers on contact>2 crits in a row and flame body trigger are 0.117% oddsI'm starting to think the witch's curse isn't just a meme
The run is dead. I wiped at Relic Castle because I ran into a trainer with a Sigilyph. More attempts later.
>>58317392I haven't done Juan yet to get the air balloon, I don't consider the Hoenn leaders as mandatory fights so I only do so if I need to and if so I am bound by the gym level cap, not them.It just sucks because my plan was to spam discharge with luxray while having golurk(illusion) and volt absorb victreebel live that and hit with their own attacks to clean sweep. Now I gotta figure out a way to kite the fight in a different way. For some reason the doc states that medicham can't learn detect and infernape can't learn fake out but i see them being used in other peoples runs when trying to see how others dealt with fight.
>>58317913Yeah, Sigilyph is very good. It has everything going for it, even availability, you just have to actually catch it. Not the easiest thing in a Nuzlocke.
>>5831992910% encounter rate hurts the availability
>>58319991Yeah, that's the thing that hurts it, really your best bet of getting one in a Nuzlocke is using champion clause on all the other route 4 mons and try for it in B2W2.
>>58315514EOD 1Caught 3 pokemon (Rattata, Caterpie, Spearow)2 pokemon died (Rattata, Caterpie)I had to beat Brock with just my Charmander, which wound up being a close fight. I had to use all my potions to win, which makes me worry about how things will continue down the line. I picked up Spearow on Route 3 after getting my badge and leveled it close to Charmander. Heading into Mt Moon.
>>58320500lol at that point I wouldn't bother
>>58320540Avoid the one Rocket in Mt. Moon. The one on the bottom floor that’s in the little area you go down stairs into then right back up. If you get past Misty, which can be easy depending on your Route 24/25 catches.
i'm tired of grinding to the level caphow do i add rare candies to my emulator
>>58321172Somehow didn’t finish my thought. If you beat Misty, you should have a pretty easy sailing until Silph.
hot take: I hate the concept of a level cap. sounds incredibly tedious to keep track of during a run.
>>58319177On normal mode you get these:Flannery - Choice BandNorman - Choice SpecsJuan - Choice ScarfSome of the plays you see might be on older version of the game. 1.4 is latest I think with 2.0 announced but not released.BTW I am starting Hardcore Nuzlocke of Blaze Black2 Redux on Normal mode once again. Will give at max 3 tries. I do want to complete the game but once I lose I don't feel motivated. I thought of doing monotype runs as well but it does not have the thrill of Nuzlocke.
>>58321174PKHeX.>>58321413It's as simple as a quick internet search. By all means, do what you want, but it's not so bad if you just check the next major battle only.
>>58322211it’s not about the internet search; the level cap is right there on the nuzlocke tracker site. it’s about restricting how much you can use a mon and constantly stressing out that you might reach the cap if you overuse it.
>>58322296100% agree, which is why I don't use level caps personally. I rarely overlevel anyway out of sheer laziness, but having to stress about exp management on top of everything else would just make me not play the game and pick up something else instead
>>58322296>>58322508One of the issues is that level caps don't actually take EXP rates into account. This means fast levelers can easily end up "overleveled", when they are really just on par, their leveling speed is an intended advantage.Regular level caps favors Slow Exp mons that already are strong but are supposed to have their slow exp as a drawback. Slow EXP mons are exceptionally unlikely to be at risk of overleveling Level caps ever. Hence why I use an adjusted system. But that means a whole bunch of extra work.
>>58321456lmfao, wiped to Clerk Clemens on Battle Factory of Castelia City. Attempt before that ended on Cheren's gym. For few fights, I used calculator but rest of them, I just saw the moves and winged it.I was really surprised to see Kadabra using Shock Wave on Fire/Ground Pignite and Croconaw using Metal Claw which critted twice killing Dwebble and Bayleef. Rest was wiped by Heracross lol
>>58321413you problem.
Level caps really are only a problem when the levels between gyms don’t match the length. Like Gardenia to Maylene and then Maylene to Wake in Sinnoh.
>>58322882not sure if this is a romhack but battle facilities in the mainline Pokémon games always cheat
>>58323075yes, that's what I said
>>58322296Fair, i've never personally stressed about level caps, skipping trainers and coming back for them later is an option too, but there are points that things get tight.
>>58242558Still waiting on a difficulty hack that swaps out the songs for the Masters EX remixes.
>>58323470It's a romhack (Blaze Black2 Redux 1.4 on Normal Mode).I made some errors. Battle Company not Battle Factory. If you beat it, you get an Egg which hatches into Bonsly, Mime Jr., Glameow or Stunky. You also get Eviolite which makes Castelia Sewers Team Plasma fight a lot more manageable.Wiped and started final attempt of HC Nuzlocke with Oshawott. Let's see what happens.
Can someone enlighten me as to why the fuck Thief can't deal damage to this bird?
>>58326389Weird
>>58326389Kadabra is smart and knows better than to steal from one of santa's helpers
>>58326389small indie studio, gamefreak just doesn’t make enough money
>>58326389Did you randomize anything? I can't imagine anything else it could be
>>58327623No, it's just a regular Moon ROM, not Ultra Moon
Okay I just went to Route 3 and found a Delibird, and now I can hit it. I'm so confused. Maybe emulator error
It's not even that it's 1% that's annoying me. I know I'll have a lot of those going forward. (Yanma, Qwilfish, Snubble) It's that the only thing keeping me from making this capture 90 times easier are the self-appointed rules of the test, and my ADHD ass is screaming to drop it.Oh well, at least it can't possibly elude me through all the levels I have to do, so it's just a matter of taking the time to do it right.
>>58328327least cryptic poster
>>58326389>>58327819That is a weird interaction. I can't think of anything that would cause Thief to fail, and there's nothing about Sina's Delibird that should stop it from hitting. Is there a held item that Kadabra wad holding that can affect Thief?
>>58329851No, and I don't think having an item prevents Thief from dealing damage either lol
>>58328896>Prof Oak's Challenge>Dunsparce appears pre-Falkner at 1%>post-Falkner though you can just Rock Smash and get him 90%, but since that's not the rules, the 1% is what you get>and he hasn't shown up leveling Butterfree or Beedrill or Ledyba so I can't grind on Gastly for better exp yet
>>58330358I'm at a loss then, save for it being some leftover of a randomizer or an emulator glitch. At least you didn't lose anything to it.
>>58328327I was mulling over a potential repel trick you could do, but i doubt the games calculate encounters solely off levels.
>>58331988It would bump the encounter rate up to 6%, but the issue is getting access to a Repel before the first gym, which is only possible by getting it from your mom (4000 pokedollar threshold, feasible, but impossible if all trainers have already been defeated) or by getting it via Pickup, which is not available to you unless you're using the Pokewalker (you can get Slowpoke via the Pokewalker, which learns Headbutt naturally, which then allows you to get Aipom). All in all, it's better to just tough it out, a 1% isn't that bad considering you have to get Feraligatr and Pidgeot before the first gym, patience is required for this challenge
>>58331446I'm half-tempted to make a new save and progress to that battle again lol
>>58332015Actually I do have a Pokewalker and I was using it to assist with the higher levels over time. I didn't realize Repels were found in Pickup. I'll speedtrack to get the Slowpokes for Aipoms, I was planning to get the five Aipom Pickup team for leveling already, but I hadn't thought about using it like that.
