This doesn't sound worth it at first, but it is because you're effectively skipping turns to attack faster with an ex or a powerful mon that's going to make more of a difference

That being said they have a lot of restrictions, only working to accelerate basic pokemon for example, and they are basically dead draws past the first turn

Additionally you can brick if you draw 1 or 2 to start the game and then no other basics

Despite this they are so powerful it's basically defining the meta of you get it off

NTA but this meta has the least room for variety so far. So many solid ex pokemon from the past like incineroar arent even playable anymore, Suicune is the great filter. They put a card in the game that doesn’t let the opponent fill their bench lol.

I tried to make a beedrill deck and had 0 options, like it wasnt even remotely playable as a low tier deck mainly because of oricorio. There was no way for me to slot in an answer so i gave up on it. Fire decks are the same, aside from flareon they all feel completely unplayable now.

I miss meowscarada being viable, that card was really good at punishing EX slop but now the meta is too fast for a stage 2 that’s meant to sit in the active spot.

I have a question, is dena bad at balancing or has all this been intentional? I get powercreep, but it feels like so many ex cards are designed to be intentionally bad. The last 2 sets were obnoxious about it, everything except suicune is really bad. Poliwrath, jumpluff, entei, lugia, kingdra etc. Would it hurt to make cards more playable

I think this will be my way out of this game. It was really fun early on but ranked is just a chore and the packs have been fixed to be more pain than gain. In the early days every couple packs got a hit, now you can open a dozen packs and you'll be lucky to get one hit.

It's on purpose because the only way to make a good ex is extreme powercreep. Anyway Poli, Jump and Entei are all playable and better than something like Pidgeot. They just don't compare with tier 1 and it's been this way since A2.

Out of every type I've struggled the most trying to make anything with Darkness. Damage/health is either too low or it takes too long to set up. I struggle with Fighting too but not as much. I don't know the types' gameplans.

Suicune and Greninja have great synergy because Suicune can lack damage. Entei and Unown have none.
Entei only has synergy with Typhlosion I think. None of the other fire types make good use of its ability because it's so energy hungry.
Raikou is only mid because lightning has so many great cards.
