My Feraligatr and Typhlosion have been putting in a lot of extra work with the skill boosts. Like 3-6k extra points whenever it decides to activate. And next week since the skill boosts is 5 levels, you can use an un-invested dog for pretty decent gains if you have a decent party for one... Dedenne too I guess, since there aren't any Fire or Water single stagers.
>>58245973>Dedenne tooShit, I completely forgot about the skill lvl boosts. I have a good Dedenne I can level for this event
>>58245973I'm actually surprised there aren't any other single-stage Fire or Water types yet, but I guess we already have plenty of those types in general.>>58246119Chances are you've either already invested in your Pokemon or their skills don't really do much, so it's easy to forget. You can also mess with a Plusle and Minun if you managed to get decent ones of those too.
The image of making a lovely kiss smoothie and then stuffing 58 sausage links into it will never not make me smile
>>58246796i haven't done shit with my hentai entei cause my fire types are ass. also xp down makes it a super slog
>>58246119Yeah, I should definitely remember that for tomorrow so I can run two Dedenne for extra tasty maxing.I have my level 60+ BFS Dedenne, but also another uninvested Dedenne.
>>58247560Charizard, Typhlosion, and Ninetales are honestly pretty good as fire types go and give you pretty good ingredient variety. Ninetales having access to corn is pretty great. Between them, they can make inferno keema corn curries pretty regularly, moreso with a Flareon on cooking pot power up duty.
i bought the cheap biscuits for 60 manes, do i buy the cheap incenses for 80 manes next? i don't think i can get all 6 this week so i'll focus on suicune and raikou i think
>>58247565i am aware there are good fire types, but my fire types are a bit shit. i don't have a good charizard, only somewhat recently got a good vulpix, and my bfs typhlosion is +ingredient nature. it's just overall a bit of a shemozzle
>>58247586if you use the incenses they give back almost half their cost, which may mean you can get all the cheap onesand since you can only have one of each species in your inventory at a time, you can only save one for future events, so it's worth to use as many as you can otherwise
>>58247612>and since you can only have one of each species in your inventory at a timeoh fuck me. i guess i'll use them the next two nights before the restock then
The crit on the last biscuit feels real fucking awful and it happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Biscuits are an extremely limited resource and seeing all those extra hearts do nothing is really shitty. And then you get some shit like this.
>>58247984It's a damn shame that biscuits don't have overflow mechanics, especially since the friendship points progress carries between members of the same species.
>80 + 60 + 60 + 120 + 120 (+ free biscuit) to catch an Entei440 materials used, 320 in the bank, and 8 more days of special research to go... Don't think I'm going to be able to afford any more captures if I want to exchange for everything else I want. 3x Evolution Stones (360), Main Skill Seed (350), 1x of each incense to carry over (210-240): at least 900 Materials to have by the end of the event...
>>58248772I can see why it doesn't, specifically for mega crits, and potential overflow to be over the 5-pip minimum. But at least say... 3-pips towards the next recruit if it would have gone over by any amount. Mega crits would have to check if the biscuit used would have just met the recruitment threshold on their own.
>>58247984>Biscuits are an extremely limited resourcethis is why i didn't understand when i saw elsewhere saying you should get the monthly main skill seed over the monthly masterballyou need to actually get a pokemon worth using a skill seed on, and masterballing some single stagers unironically feels like it's worth it. not to mention, it's only really a requirement to up e4e levels. like it's nice to up an ampharos's skill levels, but you can just not run ampharos
>>58250867If you have the premium pass, then you should be buying your seeds from the premium shop whenever available, but if you don't, then trading in for a Main Skill Seed or Master Biscuit is up to your discretion. 4,000 Sleep Points is a LOT. That's just short of an entire month's worth of 100-point sleeps (including Good Sleep nights) for a non-premium player. Most single-stagers really aren't that great either, and spending your month's worth of points on a single Master Biscuit vs 30 Poke Biscuits isn't a very wise use of your resources. You should really only use them on Legendary Pokemon, since you only ever see them once in a blue moon anyways. And while I don't think it's necessary to buy Main Skill Seeds from the regular exchange shop as a non-premium user, they're very valuable for a lot of the strongest Pokemon in the game. Aside from E4E, you have the dogs, Cressalia, Darkrai, some of the Charge Strength Pokemon, Berry Burst Pokemon, Dedenne, and whatever other skills you feel like messing around with, like Metronome.
>>58251277Premium pass is essential if you want to make significant progress, since you need to budget any sleep points you have to either getting new Pokémon, or powering up worthwhile Pokémon.I got a great Torchic recently, but that's just handy candies since its main skill isn't so important. If I were to find a great Raikou, Treecko, Rufflet, or Mimikyu however, the main skill seed investment cost is so much higher, since depending on the species and subskill rolls you're going to need maybe 3 or 5 seeds ready,There's also being strategic with skill specialist investment.Sceptile, whilst very strong, I don't need too badly because I've got a couple of very strong Meganium (including level 60 BFS+HB with leeks).Mimikyu would be a huge boost to my ghost berries alongside my BFS ABB Gengar, and Braviary would be my first worthwhile flying type helper at all.A Raikou would be a strong boost to a full electric team, but in doing so limits my diverse ingredient gathering. Helper Boost on paper looks great, but in practice is maybe only useful for berry bomb strategies which I've yet to try out.Point being that Raikou's high investments maybe don't deliver high returns, compared to the berry burst crew that are entirely self sufficient.
>>58250867master balls are never worth it because the likelihood of catching something with good stats is just way too low. the point of the game is to play patient, if youre hunting single stagers youve just gotta give them daily biscuits whenever you see them and wait until it pays off. main skill seeds are safer because you know exactly what youre allocating them to
So how was the first week of the event so far for you guys? It's still not over for me, I am yet to feed lunch to my Snorlax and I just reached Master 8 on GGEX, probably won't make it to M9.I did get a ton of shards (around 60k/day) and I've been using the legendary incenses every day, but so far I haven't caught anything useful (most days all I see are hoenn/kanto starters and Pikachu family). The few mons I did get were all pretty bad in terms of skills, oh well.
on monday morning, before switching to the next island, will i be able to access the week 1 event shop?>>58252640so so, reached M9 on regular GG which is a new record. everything is scuffed and i need moar biscuits and moar manes
>>58252710You can access the event shop during feeding time if you need biscuits, but otherwise the shop remains the same throughout the event and up to a couple days after. The "restock" technically just adds more options to the existing shop.
>>58252640Pretty decent, I was able to befriend another Entei and Suicune without using any premier biscuits, just from leftover progress. The Suicune, might technically be my best option for raw skill triggers, but I have a BFS Suicune that is likely to always out-perform that due to how well BFS and Helper Boost synergise.I got my first Weavile from biscuits too, but it had nothing going for it.
>>58252829My GG score before cooking Sunday dinner is 5.7m, going far beyond what's needed for Master 20. I won't cook dinner until just before bedtime, so I can max out extra tasty chances with my Dedenne. Sunday crits are 2 for 2 so far, with Eclairs hitting 485k.I still have 406 Pokémon materials left over, with the stock refresh next week I'm going to aim for getting the Raikou that's worth investing in, and also cash in on the main skill seed if possible.I only bought the cheap incenses and premier biscuits, which cost 360 materials. Opted to save my Raikou incense for Saturday and Sunday where I'd get the highest Drowsy Power for best odds of higher candy rewards, and it worked out with 3 star Raikou sleep last night.
Need 3 friends, cleared out some people who haven't played in weeks.3532-8132-4483
Think I should keep trying for a better one?
>>58253024You've struck gold there, you pretty much won't improve on that.Whilst you could potentially go for one with a higher skill trigger chance or a more interesting ingredient spread, Helper Boost works best when the user (and all team members) have BFS, and HB is universally good.Helping Speed M+Careful nature is a boon and good enough for it to do its job.The ironic thing about Helper Boost as a main skill, is that for balancing reasons its users have a low main skill trigger rate where helping speed boosts have a bigger impact than skill trigger boosts. To the point that my Naughty Suicune here, would actually get weaker if I neutralised its nature, since the speed boosts over-compensates for the skill chance reduction, and the skill trigger M helps to neutralise that anyway.
>>58245413Hi I just started like a month ago I played a bit for a few days before then do I get the master ball and use it on a raikou or suicune then use premier balls on the other one if I can save up two incense for it are they strong?
>>58252786so i don't actually have to buy all the cheap incenses this week, i can buy them next week without missing out?
>>58253248If you've just started then I would not recommend chasing the legendary dogs outside of using the biscuits from the Material shop, and certainly not buying a Master Ball for them.Even if you get god luck with the subskills/nature, it will not be good until you can feed it skill seeds and have a good team to build around it.
>>58253310I have a Raichu and three main skill seeds somehow
>>58253323Also the Raichu has this
>>58253310Also like all of my Pokemon besides Raichu are kinda weak so wouldn't whatever it has be good because of that? Sorry I have no idea what I'm doing desu but I appreciate it
>>58253248Legendary Pokémon need 30 friendship points (often called pips) to befriend.Master Biscuits aren't a good trade-off because the sleep point cost is too high, and better used on regular biscuits, handy candies, main skill seeds, etc. Especially the stuff in the premium exchange. You're only allowed to store one legendary incense per species at a time, e.g. you have to use your current Raikou incense before you get another Raikou incense. The general strategy is to try and maximise your Pokémon material earnings by maximising your Drowsy Power, and using both a Good Camp Ticket and a Pokémon incense so you can get the most possible encounters (and rewards) during sleep research (up to 10).The legendary Pokémon, whilst they are very good, have a high investment cost and require running a team of matching type Pokémon. It's a long term goal.Since next week will give +5 bonus main skill levels to each of the dogs, you can trial running them at maximum skill level with no investments. Also, the first legendary you befriend has a fixed nature and subskill spread, and it's always a somewhat mediocre one. Second befriend of each species is random rolls after that.>>58253330This is a good Raichu, starting out this should carry for you a long while even if the only positive thing is Berry Finding S. Everything else it has doesn't contribute to its role as a berry gatherer.Hold onto your main skill seeds for a skill specialist that actually needs it. The general recommendation is to get an Energy For Everyone S healer like Wigglytuff, Sylveon, Gardevoir, or Pawmot ASAP.Basically they keep your whole team at peak performance for longer, so they can gather stuff at full speed the entire day.
>>58253341This early on, pretty much any default legendary dog you manage to befriend will be a strong helper, but they won't be part of a good team later on when you actually have more options. The Sleep EXP bonus they have by default will also be helpful.Which is to say, don't spend precious candies on your first Raikou, Entei, or Suicune. Keep rolling for another one with potentially stronger stats before you commit your hard earned resources to them.By the way, you can only have one "special" Pokémon on your team at a time, so you have to choose between Raikou, Entei or Suicune. There's also Cresselia, which very rarely appears outside of events and technically can appear at Greengrass, Snowdrop Tundra, and Lapis Lakeside during this event.
>>58253270You can, but ideally you should also be trying to use at least a few, because you can't hold more than 1 of each in your inventory and you can only use 1 Pokemon incense per night. You also get a sort of "rebate" for using them, because each of the dogs gives you the event materials for seeing it, depending on which sleep style you saw.
>>58253512yeah i fucked up this week with incenses. i'll run them earlier next week with friend incenses (when, if not now?). i used a raikou incense after a nap, not getting any materials. laugh at me
>>58253659The strategy with legendary incenses is to use them later in the week, rather than earlier, and use them with full sleeps rather than naps.At least, if you only have limited access to them due to material shortages. The reason for this is if you have higher Drowsy Power, you can encounter rarer sleep styles that award more materials, research EXP, dream shards, and Pokémon candies. The rewards you get for a day's second sleep session are also diminished, encouraging you to stay awake the day and sleep a full night.Incidentally, Sunday next week has a 2x Drowsy Power bonus, so save your most important of the three legendary incenses for the final day.You still need to hit minimum thresholds for Snorlax strength ratings and Drowsy Power, to have a chance of encountering the 2 star or 3 star legendary sleep styles though, otherwise you'll be limited to a 1 star encounter.
>>58253731Yeah you really want to hit more star sleeps on the dogs, this boy got me 65 materials on OGPP which is basically a full refund of the incenseNot to mention a huge amount of dreamshards and research exp, and now I'm one sleep from hitting level 65You get so many incenses from the shop that you can't save them all for the end of the week, unfortunately. Using 2 a night on saturday and sunday would be very strong
>>58253731noted. is there any way to check the DP req for the sleep styles? i'm on M9 on GGnext week i'll try to be smarter. probably focus on raikou or suicune, raikou in anticipation of OGPP
Alright im going to give this "game" a shot. Anything I should be aware before I go to bed in a few hours?
>>58254060The game doesn't explicitly outline the requirements for discovering new sleep styles, it just vaguely counts up "total species" when Snorlax reaches a new strength rating. This counter is mislabelled, it's the pool of sleep styles you can encounter at your current rating, but you still need high enough Drowsy Power and the correct type of sleep for a shot at encountering a given species and sleep style. It's also possible that your Snorlax's strength with 100 sleep score, doesn't provide enough Drowsy Power to encounter a sleep style despite passing the rating threshold. You need things like event bonuses that multiply Drowsy Power further in those scenarios.Anyway, there's eternal resources based on data mining, that outline the minimum rating and Drowsy Power requirements for encountering Pokémon. For Raikou, the guideline is approximately 40.8m DP for 1 star sleep, 115.9m DP for 2 star sleep, 243.1m DP for 3 star sleep, across all islands. On Greengrass, that's Master 9, 13, and 19 respectively.Compared to Raikou's requirements, I'd say Entei's are about 8% higher, and Suicune's are about 13% higher. If you're using an incense, this bypasses the minimum DP check for the Pokémon to appear, but you still need to meet the DP requirements for anything above 1 star sleep. I can't remember for certain if this bypasses the Snorlax rating requirement, such as if you have more than 243m DP due to an event multiplier, but don't yet have the 2.6m strength needed for Master 19 and 3 star Raikou sleep.
>>58254108the game is very slow, just try and get your 8 and half hours at approximately the same time each nightthe top right of each pokemon shows if they're berry, skill or ingredient pokemon, which determines what subskills you want.post your friend code for free species candy which doesn't take up inventory
>>58254108So like the main series, Pokémon have natures that promote or hinder certain aspects, and they have a speciality, a main skill, subskills, and ingredients. Most things except their speciality and main skill are rolled randomly when befriend them, and you look for a nature and subskills that best promote their speciality. You run a team of five Pokémon, all of them can gather berries, gather ingredients, or occasionally perform their main skill. Basically an idle management game.As Pokémon level up, the berries they gather get stronger, and they unlock additional subskills and ingredients. This improves their performance, and makes cooking more kinds of meals possible. At night, after tracking sleep you wake up and discover sleeping Pokémon around the Snorlax you raise each week. Progress on the Snorlax resets each week, but you get a per-location bonus multiplier that makes this process faster each week.Discovering Pokémon sleep styles is the main goal of the game and how you make progress, hitting goals will unlock new places to visit with more Pokémon to find, and let you upgrade your cooking pot and in turn make stronger recipes you couldn't before. For the early game, you're very heavily limited in what you can do, so just take it easy and befriend any Pokémon you can.The most important thing is that any progress you make on befriending a Pokémon (by feeding them biscuits), carries over to the next time you encounter the same species.
>>58254108>>58254247There's an option for a premium subscription, which has three important perks:>+100 sleep points every night, for maximum 200 points a day>Access to the Premium sleep exchange, which has better stock at better prices>Your daily bonus biscuit is upgraded from 3 friendship points, to 4 points (making it easier to befriend many Pokémon, especially those that need 5 points)Each new account gets access a one-time two week premium trial, the best time to use this is near the end of the month so you can access two separate month's worths of Premium sleep exchange goods, but only when you've played for a while and can actually afford the stuff you want from there. Most important is the Main Skill Seeds, which upgrade the main skill level which is essential to skill specialists like Wigglytuff, a popular choice for its Energy for Everyone S main skill.
>>58254060Most people typically use raenon (in the OP), since it utilizes a lot of the data from data miners and has more quantitative information about the game. Apparently the exact numbers are still up for dispute, but this gives you a pretty good idea of what you need to hit to get what. The number in red is what's important. That's your Drowsy Power, which is your Snorlax Strength (the # on the top right of your field screen) x Your Sleep Score (how long you slept during the recording session to a max of 8hr 30m). This just means multiplying your Snorlax Power by 100, then you'll have your projected Drowsy Power for the night. For wild encounters, you do actually need to hit the ball rank, but when using a Pokemon incense, you don't. Basically all this means is that you can only sleep styles that are out of your ball tier during events that boost your Drowsy Power (Good Sleep nights and other event bonuses).
>>58253107Thanks that's what i figured but wasn't sure with the lack of skill trigger skills. Gonna go for one more entei and then focus on suicune next week. I got super lucky with this one. It was hungry and then next biscuit was a crit as well
Last Chance bundles are active now. I usually pick up the S to fill in some extra biscuits and the bonus materials it comes with could easily be put towards something more valuable. Ignore everything else unless you're in the market for buying Great Biscuits too, which I haven't done yet. The M and L bundles are technically good deals too, but I hardly use anything but Poke and Daily Biscuits as a free player.
>>58254308Huh.I only just noticed that while Suicune typically has higher appearance requirements, its Dream Shard rewards are actually less than the others for anything by 1* styles. Suicune's Research EXP + Dream Shards technically work out to be more in total for all styles if you are capped on Research Level, but for Dream Shard multipliers, a 3* Raikou is actually better since Research EXP is converted/multiplied separately. This does also mean that Suicune is a better choice if you're looking for Research EXP.
As it turns out, just running my fire team (Entei, Arcanine, Ninetales, Charizard, Typhlosion) and not even cooking anything beats out almost any combination I can make while trying to cook Dream Eater Butter Curries (which is already maxed out). It also beats swapping any of them out for a healer.Pretty neat, I'm really tired of rotating out my ingredient mons and worrying if I'm gonna be able to make the next meal, so I'll just make whatever I can with the ingredients I have plus Charizard's ingredient magnet.
I feel like going for the legendaries is worthless nowi'm just a casual f2p not really one of those 1% minmaxersjust one of the dogs takes so many biscuitsI bought the skill seed already, I feel like just buying the biscuits and letting them turn into great biscuits might be the best strat
>>58254108use biscuits sparingly, shinies are instant catches so you dont need to buy master biscuits for them or any reason
i'm stocking like 50 pokebiscuits right now, I think there are at least 5 more in the mail from rewardsnot sure if that's even worth stocking upI use them to catch stuff that needs 1 or 2 pips alone
Well, hello there... Unfortunately BFS may be necessary at this point.
So, got my first Raikou of the event this morning, BFS with no skill trigger boosts and Lax nature.Due to how Helper Boost works, it's technically better than my neutralising mint candidate from last year, despite it having access to Skill Trigger M.I'll crunch the numbers a bit later to give it a proper comparison with a set team, but this might be the Raikou I roll with just for BFS alone. There's still a week of event left though, I'm gonna try and get the golden Raikou like the other anon found.>>58256867Minun without BFS is perfectly fine, it has a pretty specialised role as it is.>>58254108Just remembered another tip.You can earn a pretty generous amount of free diamonds through playing the game, like your daily gift, bed time stamp cards, and weekly missions. The best use of diamonds by far is upgrading your ingredient bag space, it can be increased up to 700 (and you really need that in the late game).Diamonds are also used for upgrading bag space, which is nice for hoarding Dream Shard Clusters, which increase in value with your current research rank so you're encouraged to hold the bag.Pokémon storage upgrades too, but this is less essential.
