Ashninja got an extra 10 base stats over the usual 100 for most megas and has 145 Atk, 153 Sp.Atk and 132 speed.Meganinja could very well be more minmaxed and optimised around one stat or the other rather than essentially being a mixed attacker that favours Sp.Atk so it could reach even more ridiculous heights should one be prioritised.An Ability could also really help it since Battle Bond's affect was mostly just the transformation itself and a very slight buff to Water Shuriken, though it DOES have an item slot freed up making it free to run Life Orb and other items.Though that would be assuming BB even retains the old effect since fun fact: It received a MASSIVE nerf in Gen IX (possibly to coincide with the anime retconning it) where now it just gives Greninja +1 in Atk, Sp.Atk and Speed per KO and only activates once per battle. So Greninja with BB would be absolutely fucked in a head to head these days.Poor Greninja, Protean got fucked, BB got fucked, the Mega seems to be the only potentially busted thing it'll have left at this rate.

Honestly if Battle Bond Greninja ends up being able to megaevolve that will be the only Greninja you will ever see in competitive>Torrent is useless because it only activates after you are heavily damaged (and with Greninja's defenses it tends to die in one hit)>Protean got nerfed hard and you would rather megaevolve right away>Battle Bond let's you choose if you megaevolve right away OR try to sneak a kill in base form to get the boosted stats THEN megaevolve next turnWhich would be pretty funny honestly, Ash's frog would reign again even after losing the Ash form
