I went into the trade expecting to get a shitmon, but someone traded me a shiny Chimchar. Does this happen often? Is it hacked?

I haven't played Violet in a while and just got to finishing it so I don't know if this is common.

Also since you're already here, might as well ask, is the DLC worth it? The completionist in me is trying to beat the game before PLZA.

Assume so

is the DLC worth it?
It's not just an expansion, part of it is straight up cut content. The conclusion to the main plot is locked behind it, if you want a harder League rematch you have to complete both dlc (same as SwSh). Of course there are more maps and characters and Pokemon, so if you liked SV and want more of it, go for it i guess, but it's not vastly different to the base game

DLC is only worth it if you're a collector. If you just want the story, you're not missing anything just watching it on YouTube.
