Okay, this has been bugging me forever, and I'm finally taking the the time to speak up about it.What the hell are those arm fins supposed to be? Seriously, they look like swimming aides on a fucking Fire Pokémon. And it sucks because that's the only thing making it definitively uglier than Charizard X. Also, I'm just now realizing that those stupid fin things been subconsciously making me mad that Psyduck/Golduck didn't get jack shit this entire time. That's all I really have to say, but just to make this spoiler a tad longer, can someone please educate me what the thought process was for this, if they think they know? Cheers!
Those are wings dude
Wyvern wings
>>58260551I...>>58260565Thanks. That explains the design. The real question is how are you functionally supposed to use them with the normal wings taking up all the space it does?https://youtu.be/xdoAByc2bYQ?si=mBNIMbrxrWmK0EEV
>>58260588I guess they aid in aerodynamics only
>>58260588>how are you functionally supposed to use them with the normal wings taking up all the space it does?secondary wings aren't really that crazy. Insects typically have 2 pairs of wings, tail feathers on birds often act as a second pair of wings, sometimes their legs, and fish often have 3 pairs of fins and the only difference between aqueous and aeronautical flight is density, so an organism that doesn't have a set of tail feathers for balance might genuinely benefit from an extra set of manipulable stabilizers. Also, look up "canards", they're this concept on planes and jets.
>>58260545Damn you’re really stupidGood thing Golduck didn’t get anything
personally I expect golduck to get a new evolution in gen 10. It's only got 500 bst and its stats are all over the place. So it'll probably get a Water/Psychic evo that drops speed like crazy and buffs its bulk and special attack, and swaps one of its abilities (probably damp) with some new strong ability in order to ensure it becomes relevant. Who knows, maybe it'll get something that boosts specifically the move Confusion. Double damage to moves that can cause Confusion as a secondary effect, maybe? Might be cool. Give it a reason to use moves like Signal Beam or DynamicPunch perhaps, too.
Now that you mention it, it's almost as if Charizard Y loses its fingers which makes it look less intimidating. I like its sleek head and tail, but X mogs it in just about everything else.
>>58260691Based educated anon.If everyone weren't so busy gooning to the trainers, there's all sorts of trivia that stems from Pokémon parallels.
>>58260775All the changes to Y seem to be made with the idea of making more aerodynamic in mind however from a gameplay perspective, while it does keep the Flying type unlike X, it does absolutely nothing of note with it and is more all about doubling down on it's Fire Type.
