post your ideas for a dragon type gym, but it has to be the first gym in a region
>>58264207Make it a classic 1st gym were you can bypass all the trainers if you want, but make it so they give you something if you beat them. It's ananalogy for not taking the easy path and that dragons need patience and effort to master.
>>58264207>but it has to be the first gym in a region Then i'd make it the FIRST gym for the FIRST city of the game but it's actually the last chronologically giving you a sense of a full circle coming together when you go back where you started to get your last badge
>>58264207dragon research club in a school
>>58264207The first gym should always be bug type
>>58264207Make it a retard check that punishes you for trying to bruteforce it with your starter. Completely doable even with a couple of Route 1 shitmons, but crafted specifically to mog all thee starters.Trainers mostly use pure dragon psuedos to offer you shitmons you can navigate around, only having basic movesets (at least enough to not get totally shut down by the existence of a fairy) while the Gym Leader uses those same psuedos with movesets capable of punishing starters, but the ace is some hypothetical new dragon that's geared to counteract fairies while forgoing any anti-starter measures.
Fuck off David
Don't you find this a little pathetic David? Is there a single idea in your game that's actually yours?
>>58264207The gym leader should be a guy larping as Lance
Weren't you going to go away forever, David? Here's an idea for your dragon gym: you kill yourself and don't forget to stream it.
>>58264207I'll take the bait.Assuming it has original Pokemon, two first stage pseudos. A more defensive one followed by an offensive one, to teach new players that maybe steamrolling everything with your starter isn't a good idea.If it's just fakemon (which is probably what you're going for David), then I don't know. Aside from killing yourself, that I recommend.
>>58264207Cute!! I would theme it like a preschool/kindergarten, and have trainers with Dratini and Goomy studying how Pokemon grow strong during crystallization. Then the leader rocks you with Dreepy and Shelgon. Basically a Bug-type gym but with Dragon-type. Maybe Silcoon/Cascoon and Metapod/Kakuna would make appearances on a few losers' teams
>>58264254Ok Sean ok
gym ace is lv9 salamence
A single Dratini that only knows Dragon Rage
>>58264312kino
>>58264312This actually might be the biggest brain Gym 1 design
>>58264207Well, if I'm the first Gym, then we must be in a couple of mountain dwelling villages so the player has access to some Ice types. The Gym itself is a series of narrow bridges and pathways that wind up the mountainside to a hidden shrine. You must fight Dragon Tamers. One for each psudo Dragon mon, of which they have the first stage of. Once you reach me at the shrine, I will finish my prayer and congratulate you for passing the first test. The second test is raising the mon from the egg I hand you on your journey collecting the other Badges. The egg mon is the new psudo mon of the region (because of cause it's a Dragon!). Along your journey, you will encounter the Dragon Tamers from my Gym again, who will quiz, battle and impart wisdom to you. You answers determine the growth of the dragon (curtain moves and abilities). Once you've made your way back to me and approved your dragon, you are ready for the third and final test: Defeating my fellow Dragon Tamers and I with only your dragon mon! Only then will I acknowledge you as a fellow member of our clan and bestow upon you my Badge!
>>58264207Dragon Rage
It's akin to the Striaton Gym, except in this case, their ace takes neutral damage from your starter.
>>58264207You begin your journey in Dracovale, a vibrant village nestled among ancient dragon ruins. Your first companion is one of three unique part Dragon-type starters. To earn your freedom to explore the vast world beyond, you must challenge and defeat the village's Gym Leader.
>>58264404>first route giving access to Ice-typesLegends Calyrex, where the region is Galar upside-up and you see the beginnings of the Pokémon League, with the starting town being a Roman Hammerlocke and the last area being the Slumbering Weald.
Route 1 gym deserves a Route 1 dragon, either that or you can somehow catch the Route 1 dragon right at the gym. It can be the sort of thing where you lose to the gym leader and they direct you to this little spot where you can catch the same Pokemon they have. Difference will be that it learns a Dragon-type move exactly one level above their own so you have a super effective move and they don't.
>>58264207The gym is the latest a first gym has ever been in the series and the gym leader only has one pokemon, but it's a Gyarados with dragon rage. There are no electrics until after the gym
>if the first gym is dragon type then there needs to be something you can catch in the vicinity that's super effective against it!faggot take. what makes a dragon gym as the first gym interesting is precisely that none of its weaknesses can be exploited and on top of that, it resists your starters' STABs, so you can't just bruteforce through the gym with any super effective move
>>58264207>dragon type gym>first gym in a regionCool idea.>>58264404>>58264247Nice. I don't have any ideas but these are cool
>>58264207>ideas for a dragon type gym, but it has to be the first gym in a regionMake it Slav. The punchline is that the Fairy type gym is also Slav, and its leaders are at each other throats.
I will posit an idea I had.>First gym leader is your brat of a neighbor who's part of a dragon clan that's been intermingled with your village for many generations>Said brat's dad was on a fast track to becoming the head of the dragon clan and was a very noteworthy and respected gym leader, as well as an adventurer that explored many regions>Brat's father was struck with illness and ended up marrying a nurse from outside the dragon clan whom he fell in love with due to her caring for him>Brat's dad passes away due to the illness >A rival family in the clan starts mocking the brat's dad after he passes away, saying how pathetic it is that a so called dragonmaster passed away due to a lowly illness>Brat not only doesn't have a father anymore but is constantly mocked by her seniors, developing a massive inferiority complex>Becomes a bully to all the kids in the neighborhood and is the best battler amongst all the kids for having a pretty powerful Dragon whelp in a little Gible, as well as a Treecko and a Charmander, which the brat insists are TOTALLY Dragon types>You get your starter and your bearings and manage to beat the brat, she's inconsolable now and just leaves the starting town, doesn't tell her mother, doesn't tell the other kids, not anyone>Brat puts it into her head that she isn't wanted by anyone and that nobody in the world sees potential in her like her dad and her Pokemon do>She becomes hellbent on beating you and visually changes throughout the story slightly by adding scales from her Dragons or small little trinkets to a necklace her dad gave her when she was a baby>After you save her in the story once or twice due to her being a rash dumbass who doesn't think things through, she stops loathing you entirely, and even becomes somewhat more caring thanks to the wisdom of other characters she meets throughout the story>She eventually returns home after losing the champion battle and starts becoming a nurse like her mom
>>58264224So basically like Viridian?
>>58264207Made this a while back.
>>58264310Alola's first Non-Tourist Trap Gym is a wild one, i guess.
>>58264292>Then the leader rocks you with ShelgonBagon evolves into Shelgon at level 30, which is a bit much for the first gym.
>>58264973yeah
>>58264207Gym was repurposed from an old theater. The trainers and Gym Leader are all actors who specialize in historical plays and mythology. His ace is either a Drampa or a Druddigon.
>>58264207It should stick to weak Pokemon only, so things like Dratini and Goomy. No STAB or coverage moves, just basic stuff like Tackle and Wrap. Have the gym leader's ace be a Jangmo-o that knows Counter to encourage status moves. Basically have the point of the gym be to show off "hey your starter alone can't just mash through the entire game with STAB, there are Pokemon that will resist you and you need to use more than just four attacks."
>>58264207Leader just inherited his gym. Member of a dragon tamer clan.Excited to have his first battle as a gym leader, but is disappointed to see that you don't have any badges yet, so he has to softball you with his first gym team.Team is a Dratini and the first stage of the regional pseudo as his ace. They're all mono-dragon, so they all resist fire/water/grass.It's an easy gym if you just catch a route 1 normal shitmon and don't bruteforce with your starter's strongest move. After becoming the champion, you can rematch him and his real team is actually really formidable and he's hyped to fight you for real.
First make a suitable pokemon for the concept, a dragon-type early route shitmon that looks big and imposing, but is basically a paper dragon with overall weak stats. Its ability Prankster lets it start the match on priority Noble Roar, but its damage output is still pitiful and if you switch out for a non-debuffed mon you can finish it with relative ease, tanking its 80 BP STAB with even unevolved rodents.
There's literally nothing wrong with dragon being the first gym.>have it be a slightly cutesy "cool look dragon theming" gym>only have 1-2 trainers before the gym leader so your starters don't learn enough moves to replace tackle/scratch/whatever with yet>have the town it appears in be relevant for late game stuff; like have the gym leader be young but one of the e4 is also a dragon specialist and lives there, and appears occasionally in the game's story, just as a normal helperdragon resisting grass/water/fire makes it perfectly even for all 3 starters. Dragon doesn't even resist Normal so you should have no issue. Just make a non-pseudo dragon line that's rare that you only catch later in the game, maybe 4 or 5 gyms in, and have the middle stage be the first gym's ace. I mean if gen 3 replaced roxanne with a lady named Liz who had a bagon, dratini, and shelgon as her ace, would it even seem out of place?
>>58265223underleveled evos are nothing new really
Finally, the time for a Bug/Dragon time. I guess the leader could be a new dragon tamer who’s gotten the position of gym leader to teach new dragon tamers. They’d use a team of one of the first stage dragon Pseudos, the regional Pseudo purely to shut down the starter Mon to tell players to invest in more Mons. At the worst, you get a tm for something like Icy wind that the water starter can’t learn for whatever reason or an Ice type Mon from a cave system nearby the gym.
>gym leader is a spoiled rich kid>parents paid for a poacher to catch rare dragons on safari in exotic far away lands>kid is super cocky, sullen when you beat himThree trainers leading up to the leader (one is optional). General theme is they were tasked to weaken you, leader's parents pay for them to pretend to be his friends but when you beat them they reveal they're not really bothered what happens to him.>KID 1"This kid's parents got me a frickin' dragon!"Bagon, lv12Dragon Breath, Ember, Bite, Leer"Well I still think it's cool. Good luck against the leader!">KID 2"Check out my super rare pokemon!"Dratini, lv12>Thunder Wave, Twister, Wrap, Leer"Oh well, I'll just ask for something even better next time....">KID 3"Prepare to feel my dragon rage!"Magikarp, lv10>SplashEkans, lv11>Bite, Poison Sting, Wrap, Leer"Something tells me I got ripped off...">LEADER"Hmph. So much for the hired help. I guess now I have to teach you a lesson in how powerful dragons can be!"Gible, lv13>Sand Tomb, Tackle, Sand Attack, Dragon BreathNoibat, lv13>Tackle, Gust, Supersonic, Double TeamDratini, lv15>Dragon Tail, Thunder Wave, Twister, Wrap"You got lucky! I'm going to have my parents buy me some even better pokemon, then you'll see!"Gives Dragon Tail TM when you win."This TM teaches a very special move, it's the closest a commoner like you will get to owning an actual dragon. Heh."
>>58264207Its an entrance is in the side of a castle, that leads down to a rookery filled with eggs you battle a dude with a dratini or some shit.
>>58266507Love this take, but why wouldn't this gym get audited for no adult supervision?
>>58267287the gyms ARE the government
>>58264312>>58264412This, but it knows Agility and is holding a yache berry. Shed skin ability.
>>58264207Gym leader has 2 Pokemon: Frigibax and Gible. Both really low level. Maybe 10.If you chose the Fire starter, he leads with Frigibax. Choose Grass or Water, he leads with Gible.Neither of them have any Ice or Ground moves, only Dragon moves to hit neutrally (Dragon Rage is too excessive this early). The reason for this is so that the one that gets hit neutrally by the starter always comes out first, and the one that resists the starter comes out second.I think that if GF is going to treat competitive like the postgame, then the main game should have invisible tutorials. Not handholding, but putting players in situations they'll probably encounter in competitive. In this case, it teaches the value of neutral coverage, which is often times more important than super-effective coverage, despite being not as flashy.
