Gen 9 made me like Gen 8 more purely because it feels more like a Pokemon game.Didn't like the open world, never felt natural to control the raidon, hated swerving around tiny pokemon on the map, and im sure the game running and looking like ass didn't help.I can recognize Gen 9 was more ambitious and the story was more inspired than Gen 8, but actually playing it never really felt good to me, whereas SwSh at least play more or less like SuMo.

When it came out, the world was pre-COVID, the Switch was relatively new, Donald Redditors had finally started acclimating to the site, BLM hadn't picked up yet, the Smash Bros. community hadn't been outed as pedophiles yet. A lot's changed in 6 years.
