For those who play a lot of PokéROM hacks, how do you decide which Pokémon are you going to catch/raise/use?
I really wish that hacks creators would not feature all 1000+ Pokémon at this point because not only it presents tedious choice overload, it also makes every game kinda same.
I think each game should only feature 200 Pokémon each so that it gives each games a distinct flair and identity, maybe give some options for the players to get 5 custom baby mons at their choice but that's it.

I just vibe it out.

>how do you decide which Pokémon are you going to catch/raise/use?
same way i build all my teams, completely spur of the moment.
>I really wish that hacks creators would not feature all 1000+ Pokémon
Completely agree, it bloats the dex and ironically makes you forget which pokemon are available bc you have infinity options.
Ideally you roll out a handful of new mons for every hour of gameplay. A lot of hacks are guilty of having 5-8 new mons for every route, to a point where you can an entire box of pokemon before the 2nd gym, the old games don't look like that
>inb4 some faggot wants to talk to me about sinnoh honey trees
I'd say around 150 - 250, depending on how big your hack is, is the sweet spot. Gives you plenty of choices for team building, but also doesn't bloat the dex.

Depends on the hack but usually I run whatever is early route variety mixed with my usual suspects, though most hacks tend to sprinkle the same mons as early encounters which leads to sameyness.

Which romhacks feature all 1000+ Pokémon? I've been looking for ones that have all of them in it. Also like the regular games, I'd catch and raise everything because that's how I am
>>
I'm not familiar with hacks. Are there any remakes of the newer games in the art style of GSC?

There's Black & White 3 Genesis, which isn't technically a demake of the Unova games since it's a sequel, but it's the closest to what you're asking for, and it's very good

Most hack tools were prebuilt with all Pokémon available for easy access to the developers; same with Essentials. Most don't bother with choosing which Monsters to include and worry about finding places to put them in along with an excuse of why they're there.

Like I said, the Base Hack tools have all of the Pokemon prebuilt in. It has been a thing since the release of Daimond and Pearl.

Easy.
Minimum of 2 that I've never used before, at least one real powerhouse, and one legendary at the most. From there, I just use whatever mixes well with the rest of the team.

This looks almost perfect. I was really hoping for gen 8/9 but I am glad to see stuff like this.
>>58267019
There are a lot of liberties with this one but the sprites of the Pokémon look good.
>>
>>58264854
Basically >>58264864, I may use a few favorites if available early or if they have neat differences but usually try to have a mix of old and new.

Pls jump off an overpass

>>58264854
It's simple. Gotta include Garchomp if it's available. Rest are: one tank, two sweepers, one HM slave if HMs are there and one fast pivot.
>>
>>58265302
Even having 300 mons is already a bloat.

Idk, I've been playing rad red and have mostly been Karen'ing it, except for some of the bullshit bosses.i like having so many choices but can understand why a smaller deck may be preferable
>>
>>58264854
Pick a random type and mono it.
>>58265302
basically every single pokemon fangame that uses essentials (RPGMaker) instead of being a romhack has all pokemon up to gen 7, with the modern ones all having gen 8 or gen 9 if updated relatively recently
>>
>>58264854
Been working on a game mostly for myself and, wanting it to be more like a traditional RPG, I came up with splitting the game into "chapters" and giving out a team on each one. So, set team and no catching.
>>
>>58267361
Not even the official games tried to cram every single Pokemon into a single region.
>>
>>58269374
bw2 and xy got damn close, and the issue was always with whether you could transfer them, not whether you could catch them. Give me another Unova or Unova-lite with like 200 mons in the dex max if you're gonna bother with dexit, right now encounter tables are stupidly bloated anyway.
>>
>>58269629
XY was missing 128 Pokemon, not counting exclusives or friend safari encounters. It was also a region designed to have tons of encounters. It gets messy when you try to fit every single gen into Kanto or Hoenn.
>>
>>58269374
This: it makes no sense unless you got a way to make this a globe trotting adventure.
>>
>>58268959
....So one trainer to play as per chapter.
>>
>>58264854
I mix it up after every gym. Here is my method.

-If I see a first stage I don't have yet I catch it.
-After every gym I go to my box, find the five lowest level mons I have, and put them on my team.
-Always keep my starter on my team to take care of stuff if I get in trouble, and to dunk on the aces of any important trainers.
-Optional: Give a mon a nickname if they do something noteworthy.

Alternatively, I pick instead pick 5 mones that are weak to the next gym if I know ahead of time.
>>
>>58264864
I do the same for the main games. I find those team planners most people use online just boring. I think people stress way too hard over filling in resistances or getting guys soon enough. It’s also a great metric to measure by - can I play a rom hack without resorting to a guide or doc. A lot of Rom hacks kind of fail in that department unfortunately.
