I would like to know where the idea came from for the duck with psychic headaches and all.People always say it's Kappa but Kappas are turtle-based not duck/platypus and their core traits are the turtle shell and especially the dish hat which Golduck does not possess. Either way Kappas aren't even notorious for having psychic powers. There must be something me and other people are missing.

Kappas traits are not centered on psychic-like paranormal powers and there's zero evidence of the psychic headache ability which is very much at the core of Psyduck's concept. You have Sugimori talk about how he specifically designed it to look like it's head is always hurting, it's in it's very first red and green pokedex entry, its talked about in the encyclopedia written by Tajiri...Sorry but pic related is not what would come out of the same process as "let's design a kitsune(ninetales), baku(drowzee), maneki neko(meowth)...". Ninetales is indeed a magic fox that lays curses. Drowzee is indeed a dream eating tapir. Meowth indeed brings money to those that have one. Psyduck is not a violent/mischievous goblin, no water dish, no turtle shell, nothing about cucumbers or sumo wrestling...

I still love it. It's such a a simple but cool design. It's one of those awkward Pokemon that doesn't have a low BST but its stats are just so so balanced.
