Kieran is a much more rapeable character that's why. His entire personality hinges on being mindbroken while Allister is just your average SwSh character. Most people into male characters need actual depth or something going on for people to care about them. Since him and Bea are interchangeable due to being version exclusive characters, he doesn't leave a significant enough impact to make sure that you don't feel like you're missing anything important if you get the other version. Bea's the same, but girl, so people will be like "mmm, yes, tomboy sweat"

I like Kieran, but I like Allister more. I think he's a cooler idea. Kieran is a much better character at the end of the day, but really Allister just suffers from being a male SwSh character that isn't Raihan or Kabu. Even Piers doesn't get much attention anymore

Yeah they've always been picky. They guise it under having high standards, but loads of cute boys get thrown under the wayside because they don't have enough screen time or diverse portrayal in order to get the attention they need. Kieran does. It's not enough most Galar Gym Leaders only get the development they desperately need in their League Cards which read like Wiki blurbs, but it's that all of the characters in the franchise do have in-depth bios we don't get to see which is why people don't end up really attaching to certain characters outside of their aesthetics. Allister's bit about nearly dying when he was younger is very cool. It isn't really ever relevant, but it's cool

Allister doesn't have much chemistry with male characters in comparison, I think. In this instance the MC ship means more to him so you can really self-insert being his boyfriend. If you go down the list of Galar boys it's not really too appealing
