I'm currently playing Pokémon Ultra Moon for the first time ever (it's also my first Alola game ever) and I'm having a lot of fun. USUM is probably my new favorite Pokemon game of all time. I have finished the game and the postgame Rainbow Rocket story, and now I'm at the Battle Tree. I honestly think it's the best battle facility of all time, because some of the opponents have Z Moves AND Mega Evolutions. It's so awesome. Gen 6 Battle Maison was much easier imo, because you had access to Mega Evolution but your NPC opponents didn't.

Well I'm not bothering with breeding either. I'm using my in-game team (I just caught Pokemon with relatively high IVs).

Also, if I choose to level up my Pokemon to reach level 100, I will use Bottle Caps to perfect their IVs.

If I were ranking the (objectively) best games, BW2 and Emerald would be in the Top 3 with Platinum. But I'm ranking my PERSONAL favorites here.

My problem with Emerald is that Alola is basically a better Home to me. Emerald used to be my favorite Pokemon game for a long time, but now it's probably only number 7 in my ranking.

BW2 is amazing too, but I think Unova as a region is slightly inferior to Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh and Alola. I also dislike the Unova Pokemon, and even tho a lot of older Pokemon return in BW2, the majority are still Unova mons

So, my ranking is:

1. USUM
2. Platinum
3. HGSS
4. LGPE
5. Legends Arceus
6. B2W2
7. Emerald

Also, I can't wait to play Legends Z-A, because I think it has the potential to enter in my Top 3. I don't really like the battle mechanics in Z-A (I prefer turn-based battles) BUT I love Mega Evolutions and I can't wait to try the new Megas in Z-A. I also love the concept of an entire Pokemon game taking place only in Lumiose City. So yeah this game is promising.

The two big things for me was the lack of a friend safari to guarantee good IV Pokemon to use as a starting point. You -could- get high, or even perfect IV Pokemon from SOS encounters, but there was much more chance involved.
The other issue was the main breeding area. They made a small pen where you can just spin Tauros around in a circle, but you needed to hold B and spin the circle pad around for that. You also had to dismount any time an egg was ready to pick it up. In ORAS, the battle tower replacement area had a spot where you could just hold one direction and go around the island. You could just hold down the d-pad with something and it will go around for you. This area even had a second day care and the NPC that gave you eggs lined up perfectly with the route you can take around the island.
It was overall just less convenient.
